Be careful with Font Installer/ROM Toolbox - Galaxy S 4 Active General

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to give you a quick heads up; be careful when using "Font Installer" or ROM Toolbox (the Font Installer within it is the same tool by the same person).
I installed some fonts that were different from the Samsung ones, and used it for a while. The font didn't apply to all text, which kind of annoyed me but I lived with it. Today I tried to switch back to a Samsung default, but it didn't override the one I had selected. So I simply deleted those fonts I installed in Root Explorer (ONLY the 3 I installed) and rebooted thinking it would revert back to a default font.
I am now stuck on the boot animation. Oh well, I'll reflash but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. (The only things I should lose are a few pictures)

Before I force myself to be stuck on MF1, I am trying to repair what I did. Does anyone know if I can use ADB to push the files back to system/fonts?
I'm have the phone in stock recovery, and I have ADB up, but I get "device unauthorized" unless I select "send update from ADB" to which it wants me to sideload. I can sideload stuff, but that doesn't seem work for me wanting to push a few TTF files. Any ideas?

This doesn't help you now. But next time use ifont. I did the same as you did my friend.

And here I was just trying to prevent problems. Ugh, non-recovery recovery. All I want is a simple "let me copy to the /system/fonts." Is that too much to ask?

Ifont is super easy to use and I install my own custom fonts and it all installs no restart required. No flashing anything.

I wish I had seen this thread before I tried to use Font Installer to install a new font. I now have "Unfortunately Samsung keyboard has stopped" popping up every 5 seconds, and I can't access the keyboard to type anything else at all. I can only reboot using Recovery mode. I cleared the cache and did a full factory reset...still getting this error. The phone is rooted. I rooted following a very basic step by step procedure, so I don't have a lot of knowledge in this area, and would appreciate any help in getting access to the keyboard.

Axura/Perception Black Keyboard?

This may or may not be an easy question to answer but I am looking for the default black keyboard that is used in the Axura and I think Perception ROMs. I flashed both of those this week but am now back on Cog and I'd like to give that keyboard a shot and see if it will even work. It was a semi-transparent black keyboard I believe that had blue pop-up letters when pressed. Could I be anymore vague?
I'd just rather not flash back to those if I don't have to.
Thanks for the help!
Did you try to unzip the roms and pull the keyboard out of them? I dont know if it would also be part of the framework but its worth a shot.
This is my captivate. There are many like it but this one is mine.
I think it's MultiTouch Keyboard but idk where to find it for you sorry.
It's this one.

That does seem to look like the one. For whatever reason I can't get it installed on Cog 2.3B6. I'm guessing because it's not an i9000 based ROM like Axura?
I did try extracting the other ROMS and looking in system/app and the only ones I see in there are AxT9IME.apk, LatinIME.apk, and Keyboard-HTC.apk. I already have the HTC_IME MOD keyboard installed and when I tried installing the Keyboard-HTC.apk, it installed as the same HTC_IME keyboard with white keys. I also tried the Droid Multitouch keyboard which is close but still not what I'm looking for.
Strange.
You need to uninstall the LatinIME.apk (stock android) keyboard. This one needs to replace it. Can't have both at the same time for some reason. Here is the original thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754948
I tried to install it from the link above and had some issues. I got it fixed and here is how. (Granted I am on Perc.7 though). First I tried jist to copy the .apk provided for the multitouch but got force closes even after a reboot. I did rename the latiname.apk to latiname.apk.old and rebooted. Next I installed the samsung keyboard apk and lib file since I had issues with the force closes. This way I had a working keyboard. Next I used root explorer to again move the wjdblue apk and rebooted. Came back up and this time it showed both the samsung and multitouch keybaords so i thought I was good. Then I selected the multitouch keyboard bit started getting foce closes again. I then switched back to the samsung keyboard. I then went back into the extra lcted.folder from the link above, went into the lib folder, copied the libjmi_latinime.apk and moved it to/ system/lib and pasted, said yes to overwrite the current file, rebooted and wahhlllaaa I am using it right now. So it must need/know the exact lib file to match it. Hope this helps. If you need both the apk and lib file shoot me a pm and I will upload them to dropbox for you. Or just use root explorer and extract the zip file previous poster posted and grab them.

[Q] Need Help Deciding What to do With Rooted Phone

So I just successfully rooted my lovely HTC One from Sprint. I've got TWRP 2.6.0.1 on it and all.
I'd REALLY like to get rid of all this garbage on my phone that I'm never going to use, however I also would like to keep it as close to stock as possible. I really enjoy Sense for the most part (minus quirks that I'm willing to live with, and BlinkFeed). I know how/can find out how to load a custom rom - I had CM7 on my HTC EVO 4G (1st Gen) and loved it. But I really don't want to be without Sense.
Can anyone make any suggestions as to what I should do/which rom I should use?

Sorry, I'm overwhelmed at the wealth of knowledge here. Is there a link to the specific one you're talking about? Search didn't do me a ton of good. Though I suppose I could send the guy a message and inquire about his ROM.
Thank you for all your help guys!
Okay so I've decided that I want to try the OMJ ROM. Now here's where I am unsure of exactly how to do it. I see that certain ROMs require different methods. I can't just copy the ZIP to my internal storage and use TWRP to flash it, right? It has to be more complicated than that...
Also, I just went past the return window for the phone so I really cannot afford to brick it. I assume that there's next to no chance of the aforementioned tragedy befalling me providing I stick with the mainstream ROMs?
Most roms are in a flashable format i use the CM 10.2 nightly myself. from what i can tell as long as you can get into the bootloader your safe. I wiped my whole phone SD card and everything accidentally with TWRP one time. Ended up having to use sideload to get a CM rom installed again but i was never in danger of bricking. When flashing roms always remember to do a factory reset to wipe the cache and do an advanced wipe of the data and system. after the rom is installed it will ask you to wipe the cache again which is always nice to do.

No worries, I am new to the unlocking scene too with this device . Those flashable zips will normally have the boot.img files included and when installing twrp will take care of it via the script inside the zip. if you open the zip file with winzip or something you should see that file on the root. TWRP or ClockworkMod recoveries make it really easy to install and backup roms.
flashing the boot.img i guess is for recovery purposes say if the system is in a boot loop. Or maybe if you upgrade the system only and didnt change boot img between two different roms. I personally never had to do this. After unlocking the device i used fastboot to replace the recovery and just do everything else inside the recovery.

Alright, so I've got OMJ's rom running no problem. Love the new feel but what I'm wondering is...is there still a way to delete apps like Stocks and other crap I won't use? I can disable some but not all, and none am I able to uninstall completely.
Would it be something as simple as going into the OMJ ZIP file and removing the unwanted apk files and then re-flashing to that version?

I suppose that could be one way of doing it, but i dont think its necessary. if you are already rooted or can install root easy i would just install a Root file explorer. Browse to the /system/app folder i think it is and delete the APKs from there.

Yeah I tried that with ES explorer AND Root File Manager. ES would have an error, and Root File Manager would simply say it was deleted but it was never actually deleted. I think it has something to do with the security. I'm not really sure, haha! I'm used to being able to just openly delete apps from within Settings>Apps like the old days of my EVO 1st gen.
hmm interesting as long as the /system is mounted as r/w permissions you should be able to delete. well if you are planning on reflashing using the modify zip method im curious to know if that works.

use Root explorer, and set it at r/w
also Titanium Backup will delete it for you too.
If I remember correctly there are a few apps in the play store that are specifically for getting rid of "bloatware".....maybe search bloatware removal, our uninstall bloatware something like that. Hopefully this helps!

system UI has stopped. gravity box

ok i jacked something up.... i have been using PIE controlls for weeks and randomly my nav bar came back so i went to gravity box and turned off the nav bar and rebooted like it prompted me to do. now i get a constant string of "unfortunately, system UI has stopped" and in between the FC i can get into gravity box, but i get a pop up that says "GravityBox system framework not responding. Exiting"
as a side note, i was not thinking when i made the change and was not booted into recovery mode like is recommended for root changes
am i screwed or can i fix this without a factory reset?

i assume i need to do something from the computer... anyone know what i need to do?

All you need to do is delete "htcsetupwizard.apk" in system apps folder. If you don't want to wait until the setup wizard lets you into the system follow these directions.
1. Boot into recovery
2. Mount system
3. Use file manager to get to system/apps and delete "htcsetupwizard.apk"
4. Unmount system
5. Wipe dalvic

I've tried this, but still does work, any way to get rid of this annoying thing?
Rooted Stock 4.4
Edit: A few questions to ask.
I am able to bypass HFA, but I had to delete the .apks associated with what ever makes it happen.
When I install a ROM I always encounter HFA*makes me not want to install others, since I set-up the ones I use now so I don't encounter it*.
Are devs just implenting this cause of it's sprint branding, I understand why they would ,but crap is annoying.
Anyways, I'm reluctant to remove it, but it gets quite annoying when installing a rom it so happens to rear it's ugly head.

Hi Robert, this problem strikes me recently. I just purchased a HTC 10 Sprint outside of the States (Vietnam to be exact), unlocked bootloader, S-off, install latest twrp, and finally flashed ICE 3.6.0 on it.
Everything run smoothly until I got to the 1st setup process, after choosing language, there is HFA and my phone could not activate and I stuck there forever.
I lets it run 5 times, didn't do the trick. I tried to delete htcsetupwizard.apk as you said but could not find it either. I googled around and ppl tell me to delete HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk but it still did not do the trick.
I tried to flash ROM several times again (the same one) with different Magisk & SuperSU but still same sh!t.
Could you please help out?

Root your phone. Install any decent root app remover from play store. Search in its system apps for the keyword "sprint". And see what happens after removing them.
The problem is that HTC has put this service with different names on different models. So the same name may not be applicable for every model. So finally its a hit and trial.

I am so lost. Please help a dude out?

Ok, I hope I don't get in trouble for asking this here. . I tried to search but I'm not real good on this phone yet. . That's no excuse, I know. ..
I searched for root in a few forums and didnt come back with much but a bunch of trouble from people in this help forum.
I haven't rooted or installed a custom rom in about 4 years now, so I am weary about it. For now, I just want to get it rooted so I can remove or freeze some stock bloatware.
It says it is a 32G device but when I look at the storage, it says System Memory is using the minimum amount of storage space required to run the system,, 7.59G? Is this correct? I take it that is including all my installed apps along with bloatware? But then it says "Used Space",, 4.67G.. <--What is that?
Anyway.
I am wondering if there is an easy way to root my device without installing a custom kernel AND not require a pc?
If I have to use a custom kernel, which one is the most stable?
My device specs are
SM-N910T3
Android 5.1.1
LMY47X.N910T3UVU1DOK2
KNOX 2.4.1
I have data turned off on my phone and disabled data from my carrier. I use WiFi and no data. .
Again I'm sorry for asking this but it's been a real long time since I have installed custom anything and my pc blue screens randomly so I'm afraid to try rooting my phone that way.
Please, step by step, easy tutorial or a link to where I need to go?
Thanks a bunch.

So if you just want to freeze system apps root is not required. Go to the below link and follow the instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2998294
V3.90 Debloater(Lets remove all that carrier bloat !! Root not required..)
If you want root then look for the new CF AUTO ROOT for 5.1.1 DOK2.
Currently no way to root the device without a PC.

Glad you're up and running, amazing how even a simple usb cord can be a factor between a half brick and a fully functional phone.
Samsung is going out of there way to make this new generation of phones as difficult as possible to mess with.

I jacked my phone up at 3am last night.. Tried to change a theme, noticed that the font didnt change, so I opened Rom Toolbox Pro(which I paid for) and selected a font from the font installer there. Halfway through the progress bar, the screen goes black. then it vibrates and reboots and starts to instantly give me "unfortunately Samsung Keyboard Has Stopped Working.." and would pop up immediately after I would click "OK" to close it.
So, hmmm, What happened? I have a different keyboard that I had to choose for the input to get the popups to stop from Samsung Keyboard.
I got no clue what happened so I go into Rom Toolbox again and I try to "restore" my factory fonts, thinking that maybe Samsung Keyboard didnt like the font I chose to install..
So half way through the restore the font installer hangs on a font called "Roboto" then the phone reboots. So I think its that font roboto,,, which I didnt chose to install in the first place.. So I go into Rom Toolbox "Root Browser" and find all the roboto fonts and delete them and reboot my phone.
Now 95% of the text on my screen are just boxes.. I dont know how to make that character on here but its just a square for the letters. Crap! lol
ok, so I go into rom toolbox again and to the restore, and it worked this time, but Samsung Keyboard still closing faster than it can open.
I search google for my error message, didnt find much, some here, some there,, then I find this video on youtube showing me how to install the S/6 keyboard, that looks exaxtally the same, so I try it.
The vid says to replace 2 files in the system folder with a root browser, 1 APK and 1 lib/java.so file. So I used Rom Toolbox Root Browser and attempted to move the .apk file and when it said "replace" or "keep both" I chose "keep both" and it gave me a progress spinner but it never did anything. I tried to copy/paste, move, everything I could try. So then I thought I should rename the original file to .bak but when I tried that, it said "....bak file already exists.." But I couldnt see it in the folder. So I renamed it to "....apk.blind" and it let me do that but still wouldnt let me move, copy/paste the new apk I downloaded.
So I tried it with the other file and the same thing happened.. ended up naming it .blind at the end.
Not thinking at all about it, I reboot the phone.. Now it just goes into a reboot loop.
I think this post is more of a vent because of my frustration right now.. I tried to flash the "Maximum Overdrive" rom but in TWRP, if I choose the "check file Integrity" or whatever that is,, it fails right away.. Which scares me because I could have a corrupt rom because this PC blue screens CONSTANTLY.. I am suprised it hasnt bsod'd while I am writing this..
Speaking of that, I better hit "Post" now... lol
Actually, I am having a hell of a time finding my stock firmware.. I am searching for LMY47X.N910T3UVU1DOK2.. Should I be searching for something else? I cant find a file to flash with odin or twrp anywhere.
I guess I will try to flash a different custom rom?
Anyone have LMY47X.N910T3UVU1DOK2? Perty Please? or is that even the file I should be looking for?
Edit) Nevermind I think,, I found a stock rom with custom kernal and root.. Trying it now.

In this case RomToolbox pro which I also own, is crapola with the new generation Samsung's. Don't think jrummy is doing his homework here.
