They have a forum as well, I would poke around there too http://touchsquid.info/forum/index.php

I too have been wondering about a universal remote app for the One. I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion about this on XDA. (There probably has, I don't check terribly often.)
Anyway, I found this but it doesn't look very promising.
Here's another one I'd be willing to try, although the UI could probably use some work in my opinion.
I agree, they need to have trial versions so I don't have to spend money for something that doesn't work. Or maybe ad-supported versions. As IR blasters become more common in devices, the more choices we will see.
Perhaps I might begin work on an app, although it will probably be a major pain in the @$$. Luckily I know some people who will be willing to help.

I'll post a link to one that works great on the one. It was in the play store but now I think it went open source

I'm currently using this app on my SG4 and it is awesome. The only drawback is that it doesn't have a widget for it, so I"m trying to use tasker and autovoice to turn on my devices by speaking threw my phone.

Touchsquid now has two widgets, full screen and full function

That was an issue in the old version of Touchsquid.
The new version of Touchsquid called the Touchsquid GR now has two widgets, full screen and full function. Just look it up on the Google Play Store.

Nexus 7 Google Wallet

Hey guys I was just wondering about your opinions on using google wallet on the nexus 7?
It feels kind of foolish to me to use google wallet at mcdonalds, 7 eleven....
What do you think?
Also, does it work without wi-fi?
I went to 7 eleven and found that google wallet said that it did not know how much was on the prepaid card so i didn't want to make a fool of myself by trying and failing.
Thanks!
I don't care how it looks, I've got $10 to use, so I am using it

Moto X System Dump - Download and Wallpapers

Here it is in case anyone wants to attempt to port the features or ROM OVER to the Nexus 4. This is the system dump from the AT&T version.
I looked thoroughly before I posted this and didn't see anything else referring to this.
No need to troll or say anything derogatory. I usually don't make threads.

Software feature based on hardware
Don't get me wrong, but doesn't the Moto X rely on specialised hardware for some of its features.
From what I read the custom SoC on used in the Moto X has a dedicated core for speech processing, to implement always listening feature. If we did that on the Nexus 4 it would be hugely inefficient.
Can Someone Mirror The System Dump?

well i heard they use one core for it
so i think we got a nexus 4 as quad core
get one core running the voice feature and keep the screen always awake at the cost of the same core
or probably 2 cores
but minimizing the battery is a challenge for a dev i guess
well done op btw for the dump :good:

The special cores for the Moto X aren't ARM cores, this is why power consumption is almost none. While the N4 does feature 4 cores, none of them are specialized DSP cores that were purposed to mimic Moto's custom cores. As for the display thing, it is simply not cost effective in anyway. We have a IPS/LCD so the entire display has to be active just to show the display, an AMOLED can turn on individual pixels, which is why active display works on the X.

Hope some workaround gets placed for it..
I knew abt the specialized core and the chip specially they put into it..
Dint knew about the screen..
Well thanks for the well defined explaination..
Hope our devs manage to keep it somewhat near..
Even back at times i used nokia n8 as my daily driver..wherein there was this same active screen clock feature so i guess for everybody else its new..but its been there by nokia without any cost effect..obv devs can port that one..about voice google now..im not sure..cause the chip capability is really unique..even you show us some light about the features porting thing..thanks..really knowledgeable

Totally agree. I honestly just want the always listening Google Now. We have the feature now basically when it starts listening for "Google" while the application is open. I think at least that feature is software/hardware do-able for us. I'd settle for any goody we can get.

So apparently you don't understand that:
The SDK isn't finished and Google is slow about it (Android Studio is still alpha quality).
There are more content providers on the way
That people who buy Android/ChromeOS devices that come to XDA do spend money on what you refer to as vague assurances (hence XDA exists).
So I really don't think it is me who does not understand here. Feel free to be a negative Nancy to drive away future Chromecast owners (or even current ones) due to your lack of understanding the issue though.

What about the idea of forming groups to give XDA members a heads-up on release?

Not sure if this is a good idea but you guy's can let me know.
1) Given that we have no idea when this phone will release and even if Google announces a date we would still not know exactly what time.
2) And the fact we may have a short window (15 minutes or so) for purchasing the phone before it goes out of stock.
Would you guy's like to join up in groups (say 5 people or so per group) exchange cell #'s through PM's and when the phone launches the first person in a group who notices texts the other members to give them a heads-up?
I would hate after waiting all this time to miss the launch by 15-30 minutes and get stuck waiting weeks for a restock.
I wrote a python application similar to this one of the Nexus 4 release:
pastebin.com/Ep1JSUTy
It will notify me if something seems to be available.

At what you said was a thread that would get closed. You admitted that it was a pointless thread and yet you didn't care.
There is already a thread for hot word detection.

Normally I'd agree with your point, but here I think this thread has value - if perhaps for only a limited time. I've been reading the other thread religiously, but it -- like many threads lately, has become (understandably) heavily involved with operation on "L". It also branches off on many (valid) tangents on the subject - which is absolutely the point of the thread. However, easily lost in all that is this one simple tip that seems to resolve the one key, basic problem for those of us on KK who have the update & who are otherwise fully compliant and increasingly frustrated -- this gets it to work. So, for the sake of clarity & simplicity, I feel this is a perfectly reasonable & extremely valuable topic for the week or two... or three in which some number of us will be endlessly checking to see if we've finally had the feature flipped on. At the very least, the clarity of the thread title alerts members that some of us may actually need to "Force" it to work.
In other cases I'm not nearly so keen on breaking down subjects to such a granular level.

Go take a nap NaterTots, you're apparently grumpy. Despite what he wrote in the first post, this is a very helpful thread. The other thread didn't even have this solution, and goes about installing various APKs to get it working. In this case, you type 3 words into the app and it now works. Hugely nice.

That I kinda doubt. There was great flexibility in 4.4, but an early update (either KK or Search, can't recall which) cut us back to just OK Google. I suppose they wanted to limit chances of accidental triggers. With hotword everywhere I'd think they have even more of an incentive to keep this limitation in place. Ah well, it's no big deal but I can't help felling just a bit goofy reciting that script. :silly:
Nope no dice :crying:

Reading and UNDERSTANDING is key buddy. I said "I created this thread because most won't revisit the other thread".
I guarantee some people are going to glance at my thread because its human nature to be curious. Just like you glanced at my thread. Obviously I didn't create this thread for you. Thanks though.

You're right. My apologies.
I just wish my local government knew that certain rules were meant to be broken. ;-p

I did this on both my n5 and n4 earlier today(this morn), and only audio history and manage audio history shows up, not the other options. funny thing is, I did my coworkers phone as well, and all the options showed up for his phone

Are all devices on US English? Though hotword had been working on UK English for me I lose the new "Everywhere" feature if I switch away from US.

mine are. but its not country centered, and even read it'll work on 9 languages so far. but for me, the trick didn't work. probably because google didn't enable my account yet.

Lousy 'trick' will only work on after the device is actually enabled. As to country-centred that's why I expected it to still work on UK English. I had only changed to US English out of frustration as I was waiting & waiting for the feature to kick in. I'm not actually in the UK, but I do prefer her speaking voice.
This kind of messed up my voice search. It recognized "ok google" to open up the search but nothing else. I had to delete Search data to get it working properly again. =\
