question about vz and sprint 4.2.2 - Sprint HTC One (M7)

so since vz has the 4.2.2. and is cdma, would it be save to assume it would be a port to sprint or do we still have to wait until sprint releases?

Even if it cant, Jason Mackenzie of HTC claims the company wants to release 4.3 by the end of September on all variants (not just dev edition) so it wont be too much longer.

Thanks, not a big Twitter User.
Sorry that was only confirmation. If i did it right, read this timeline to see the sept goal https://twitter.com/jmwein/status/368502986743361536

So no disrespect but in all the HTC statements I've seen I have only read that they "hope" or "plan" to have it out before the end of September and one critical piece of info was never said.... September of what year...
Sorry but I am still hopeful that the Vzn release will give the devs what they need to at least move the Sprint device forward with updated roms just in case there are "delays"...

Yeah, since the VZW phone drops today, I'm wondering how long (rather, how quick) it will be before the devs get a hold of it and rip out the source! It's days like this that make me wish I had the time and knowledge for coding.

[Kernel Source]

So I guess Htc/VZ decided to release the source: http://member.america.htc.com/download/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/incrediblec_cc1c2268.tar.bz2
good luck.

We have been down this road before with several other devices...
HTC has ALWAYS released the source code....within a few months or so.
You can email all you want, but your going to get generic responses, and its going to be released anyways.
The phone is only available for pre-order and its not even the 29th yet...so give them sometime.
Cheers!
Will having the kernel source for the Incredible make rooting the device easier because of the potential for "work arounds".
From what Paul is saying over at Modaco, it seems HTC is going out of their way to make the Desire and Incredible "more secure"... which means locking down bootloader, kernel, etc. More of a pain for rooting... agh!

Glad to see you getting involved...
We blasted HTC before with thousands of emails, and even got News sources involved, but since all that they have always released the source codes within a few months or so.
Cheers!
Droid Eris was released on 11/6/09; kernel source code is still not released.

My my I think it worked. Congrats!!
Its a marketing strategy because they know people are going to mod it anyway, so this way if people mod it, they are more inclined to stay with the device and HTC.

[Q] Forum for "Verizon" One

Is there going to be a sub-forum setup for the Verizon One that is supposed to be released on 15 August? (was August 1)
Hopefully so that the Verizon users don't clutter with their unable to unlock boot loader, my phone has bulk load of Verizon crap, my phone looks ugly with that big ugly Verizon logo, when can we get root, when we can get 4.2.2 update and so on..

NBD. I heard it the day earlier and didn't know about the announcement. He told me what turned out to be an hour before the twitter announcement. Stupid work gets in the way from posting on here.
Now... just need to decide if i want it. The good news for me is my upgrade date isn't until the 30th, so I'll be able to follow posts here on hackability of the verizon version and hit the store to check it out. I might buy it from the Dell mobility site. They are throwing in the $99 dre beat headphones which I don't care about but I figure by the time I buy, maybe it will be a google play or dell gift card.
So how do we go about getting an HTC One Verizon forum?
So the VZW One was released today. Is it getting a forum or not?

Sprint is skipping 4.4.3 for M7 - Going straight to L

FYI for anyone still wondering.... I just received this reply from HTC's VP of Product Management on Twitter. I asked him when the Sprint M7 will get 4.4.3. Looks like we get to wait for L.
"@TheRhob Hi Robert, we're going to go straight to L release. Thanks."

Yeah, I'm sure the mass from the site aren't going to be happy about it. I haven't rooted a phone in a while, just don't have the time to do it anymore. But it sucks, for sure.
Chainfire already has established and released root on L. From what I've seen in the n5 forums.

Shipped with? Probably. Available to the public is another thing. It will push to AOSP first then updates to nexus devices will be next, but we have no time scales.

Yeah its a waiting game. From my experience, whenever we hear dates, they're almost always not met anyway. I never believe anything until I see tags updates on AOSP or someone actually receiving an OTA.

Use the version you develop. Clearly that doesn't exist yet
Same thing every android release. It'll be out after the official release, and source code drops. Don't know how long it will take, but it'll get there. We had a very long wait for 5.0 because of massive changes, not to mention that every time he got it working on one dev version, it was broken as heck on the next dev version, so we just have to wait and see. Hope that explains it well enough. Better than a "When it's ready", or "none" answer everyone always gives.
The Nexus images are now live so I would guess the source won't be far behind it. Can someone comment on the number of changes to ART compared to Lollipop. From the surface it seems that Marshmallow should be 5.2 and not 6.0 but maybe all the changes are under the hood.
It is coming:
rovo89:
"In framework version 74, I have fixed some more incompatibilities which could lead to bootloops or crashes. I assume that most of these crash logs contained the string "Incompatible set properties", which is actually a consequence of previous method verification errors. It's hard to say which ROMs and devices were affected - but flashing the new version shouldn't hurt even if everything looks fine with older versions. If you do notice any issues and are sure that it's not caused by yourself, you have higher chances of getting them fixed if you open a detailed GitHub issue (usually I will need at least a full logcat).
I won't be able to work on Xposed for the next 2-3 weeks - no time for development, support or questions at all. If the rumors I have read are right, I should be ready just in time to start porting Xposed to M."

Remember, the reason why it took so long for an official version for android 5.0 was because lollipop uses ART environment and xposed whas always made for dalvik originally.
So I think it will take less time now.

I haven't been able to find it, only snarky comments from users here about how its obviously not done. I have checked all the stickeys in this forum as well as the development one...
I doubt you will get much info on progress, as users tend to hold any claims against developers... But I would have though there would be something official saying "its in progress" to try and help stop the inquiries.
Oh well, will be a nice surprise when it drops.
