[Q] Remote: 12 siganture verify fail - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Looking for some help - I had my htc one bootloader unlocked/ rooted and running venom rom.
I needed to go back to stock and lock the bootloader. So using the all in 1 tool, locked the bootloader which worked fine. Then went to install stock RUU and now I keep getting the same message in cmd screen when it tries to verify the signature. Any ideas??

You need to either find the correct ruu for your cid and mid, or s-off.

Ruu would reflash stock recovery anyway. It can be ran without it.

Thanks for the replies.
I did S-off which has helps, not getting stuck on the sigantures now.
However I am getting stuck in the zip writing stage with the following error;
"FAILED (REMOTE:24 parsing android-info fail).
As far as I know I am flashing the correct RUU. It's from the andriodruu site is the OTA 02 UK variant which is what the phone came with.

I have tried a few other things. Installing stock recovery (didn't work, kept pulling up the red triangle so flashed cwm again). Tried using an RUU .exe file as well, but the version number didn't match after doing the "update" step.
No matter what I do the OTA zip file keeps getting the FAILED (REMOTE:24 parsing android-info fail)
Anyone have any ideas?? Have spent hours searching and trying different things but no joy!

Also an ota is completely different than an ruu. You DO need the stock recovery and an unmodified system to flash ota. Change your cid like I said, run ruu.exe, then flash the ota.

Many thanks for your reply. Which RUU do I need to use?
I have the OTA for 02 UK which is the correct one, not sure on the RUU though....
Thanks in advance.

ok, so I ran the supercid, used the EU RUU which worked fine.
Now when I try and flash the 02 OTA it gets stuck on running bug_fix1 tool
Tried it a few times and stops in the same place... left it for about 10 mins each time before rebooting.
Any ideas on this one?

[Q] HTC One Google Edition ROOT >>>>>>

Hi XDA Members
I have an HTC One GE, i just wanna know how to root it, since i don't have a clear guide on how to root this Model.
Thanks for the interaction.
Cordially
You'll have to verify this as I don't have a GE and have never felt the need to convert, but I believe its almost the same as a sense based phone.
With a GE boot loader you can "fastboot OEM unlock"
Then download the recovery of your choice. Mine is TWRP.
Then "fasboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img"
Boot into recovery and flash root zip, or if using TWRP it will give you the option to root on reboot.
As with anything this may void your warranty, and it will disable your ability to receive OTA's. So you may want to back up your recovery or make sure you can get a stock one prior to flashing the recovery.

Well, thank you, i had been thinking this way, you know the regular method of Rooting HTC's since i have been using One S, but i need some confirmation about this method, i don't wanna brick my Device.
I just took a look in the GE conversion thread and this is how they're doing it, so it should work for you. As I said just make sure you can get recovery back to stock if you expect OTA. As long as you have a good grasp on what you're doing, its relatively simple. There are also many guides out there.

after install root just flash stock recovery back

custom recovery + OTA is it possible

I have installed stock rom and wanted to install 4.2.2 update manual so installed CWM and installed the update
question is am I going to be able to get OTA?
if answer is no
then will be able to get it if installed stock CWM?
No. The purpose of a stock recovery is to install OTA's. The purpose of custom recoveries is to flash custom Roms.

There should be one floating around the forum somewhere, or alternatively you could flash your corresponding RUU if you want complete stock. I'd look for a link but I'm currently at work.

You can take otas being s-off, but I am not sure it's a good idea. S-off means all the system security checks are turned off. When you get an ota, one of the things it does is check that your /system partition is stock, because if it isn't, the patches may not be applied correctly. I am not sure if s-off affects this check. Having the check in place can prevent bricks.
Note that I am not advocating going back to s-on if you want otas. Rather, if you went s-off, I am recommending you forget otas even exist. Once you start modding your phone, you should stay s-off unless you have to go back to bone stock for warranty service, and you know how to do it correctly.
Going back to s-on after you've modded your phone is like peeling off a bandage, rubbing a lot of crap under it, and then putting it back in place. It's more dangerous than staying s-off.

[Q] GPE RUU Fail

I am trying to convert my HTC One to a GPE. I have unlocked the bootloader, S OFFed, changed my CID and MID and now I am trying to flash the non root RUU from here: http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781
I get the first failed message (expected) then immediately run the same command.(fastboot flash zip nameofRUU.zip). It will load until it get to the line called:
Start image [pg2fs_spcustom] unzipping & flushing.....
It fails at this point and then run for a while giving some BYPASSED messages until it stops and says:
FAILED: (Remote: 51 partition update fail)
My phone can access bootloader but its only option is RUU. I am stuck on a black screen with the HTC logo in the center with triangles in each corner.
Any help you could give me would be great! Thanks!
You are running in ruu mode, correct? Maybe its a bad download, redowload the ruu and retry

Installing Google Edition

Hello
I got my HTC One yesterday on O2 UK and I want to install the official google edition, However I am unable to.
I have been doing some reading up and would like some verification as to whether what I am thinking is correct.
My phone is on FW:2.24.206.1 and HBOOT:1.54
Currently the latest HBOOT cannot currently be S-OFF'd (correct?)
S-OFF HBOOT
Change CID to GOOGL001
Run RUU for Google Edition giving me S-ON, Locked bootloader and official Google Edition without root
Update
The reason I want the official Google Edition, un-rooted ROM with S-ON is so I can use the Barclays Apps and I don't like HTC Sense.
For some reason the Barclays apps wont work with a unlocked bootloader (they keep saying I'm rooted even though I'm not).
You need s-off to flash the ruu. You can't s-off the 1.54 hboot. Your best option would be to flash a Google edition unrooted ROM, then lock the bootloader.

Also running the ruu won't turn you s-on or lock the bootloader. If you ever get s-off for your hboot, there's no reason to go back s-on. And you can lock the bootloader through fastboot.

OK, I must have mis-read something. I thought the RUU rewrote everything including HBOOT and gave you S-ON
It does overwrite the hboot. But the zip is not signed, there for you can not flash it with security on. Also with s-on it's impossible to downgrade hboots. It doesn't turn s-on because the s-on information is stored in a different partition that the ruu doesn't overwrite for just that reason. If you read the whole thread you'll see that graffixnyc made the mistake of flashing the entire system dump they used to make the ruu. This did turn him s-on, and caused all kinds of other problems, that he couldn't fix due to being s on again.

OK, so if I had S-OFF, and I needed to send it in for repair, I would use the tool that I used to S-OFF to S-ON?
Some people do. I wouldn't. Remove the tampered flag and relock the bootloader. Some ones were shipped with s-off, so they can't claim that you did anything as long as the bootloaders locked and the tampered flag is gone, and the ROM and recovery are back to stock of course.

repetitive restart

Hi,
I am running on revolution HD 13.3, bootloader unlocked, HBOOT 1.54, firmware 2.24 with CMW recovery..everything was great, I decided to install the elemtary 4.2 version (if i remember the name correcly) but then my phone entered into repetitive restart. noting that the same kernel i have installed previously with no problem, i re-installed since i wanted to increase the CPU speed limit to maximum to give it a try. even if i try to enter the recovery mode the phone get restarted.
i tried to reinstall the recovery via fastboot but same problem. I cant think of what i should try next. how can I install the ROM via adb or fastboot, or what other tries you advice me to do?
thanks,
Ok I fastboot boot.img from my ROM package and it worked again

No need for recovery. On your PC, extract "boot.img" from the ROM zip file, and place it in the folder where you have fastboot and adb files installed.
Then reboot to fastboot, connect your phone to PC, open CMD prompt in the fastboot/adb folder and type
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot

No not me, I'm on stock.
But the OP did and he used ElementalX 4.2 which is for "Google Play Edition Android 4.3", he should have used version 3.11 which is for "Google Play Edition and Sense 5 Android 4.2.2"
All very clear in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249774
BTW it's also by Flar2, similar to Bulletproof but with more options for OC UV etc.
