Hey Guys Can sOMeone Help me about my phone SGS19000
My pHONE Wont turn ON, cant go to DOWNLOAD MODE and cant Go to RECOVERY MODE.
What should i do??
Help me please. .

The battery is okay? have tested it with charger in the device...maybe a prob with battery...what have you done before ...flashed another rom or somethin?
Have you tested:battery out and a few minutes later, return in your device and then turning on your device ...

Please give a bit more info. Were you flashing something or did it just stop?

It's OK
So here is what you do; you need a jig. It's a little device that plugs into your phone, and the phone will go into download mode. You can make one yourself or you can buy one on ebay. Another option is going on the Jig lending threads and borrowing one. So the jig will get you into download mode, which then you can flash your phone, and then it should work properly.

or you can make a jig

what exactly is a jig?

Technically, its a 301k resistor soldered to a microUSB port.
More practically, its a nifty little device that forces Download mode.

This is the explanation and how to use http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIALLtbyaqU
"Me like many other people had a problem like, mobile and PC connection error or can't get to download mode whit three combo buttons (I think that it depends from your OS on mobile, because I also had that problem till I flashed new OS) or any other that you turn on your device and it freeze or stuck, but this homemade jig is a soliution for these things. Link to pictures http://babkes.webs.com/apps/photos/
What I did was:
1 - I bought micro USB cable
2 - I bought rezistor 300k OMH, 5%
3 - I cuted micro USB cable like you can see on video and connected rezistor to 5 and 4 pin. And that's all, you have download mode, but for that you need to have atleast few moments of device turning on.
Maybe it looks difficult, because it also looked the same for me, but it isn't. How I knew which pin is 4,5. I just tried all . And when you get correct ones in few moments you get download mode."

You can buy it on ebay for ca 2$ incl postage:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Downloa...850?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a2bfbe0fa

Try pulling out the battery, holding down the vol -, home and power and then put the battery in. Worked for me, if not you can always buy the jig

Interesting but why does the device goes into the download mode...something like a backdoor for samsung for service request???
Get the device any damage because of the bridge???

Actually it isn't, normally one turns the phone off, then uses 3-button combo. Battery is normally inserted all the time.
This is a little trick, to keep buttons while battery is removed and then to insert the battery while all 3 buttons are pressed. It inforces the download mode very often.
It works best, if just before that soft reset was done (keeping the power button pressed for at least 30sec while battery is removed)

Good to know these special tricks :good:

STUCK in Boot loop, can't get into download mode. Shows BATTERY when USB inserted

When I try to power the phone, it cycles the AT&T logo forever.
When I try to get into download mode (doesn't matter which method) it just flashes the battery status every other second when the USB is plugged in with the battery inserted.
Is there a way out of this?
Is all hope lost? Return the phone?
Should be able to open odin. Remove batt. Hold both volume buttons down and plug in usb and install batt. Should go to download.
Without letting go of buttons
no you can make a usb jig to trigger it as detailed here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551

Again another topic for the QA Section as this is not development related. Why post in here when this is clearly a QA question and nothing to do with development
If you do have the att screen showing with the phone plugged into the comp you can use adb to get into download mode. On the second beep from the comp you can enter the command adb reboot download in the command prompt in the adb/tools dir and the phone should go into download mode if not then use the jig.
Seems like you are hardware locked. Only thing you can do now is make a JIG, which is surprisingly simple and easy.
Now stop posting in the wrong sections! That goes for everyone. Also, use SEARCH because 99% of the time the question is answered 100 times over again in other threads (this is a good example), and most of all READ for once. Ya'll are killin' me...
If it's stuck in a bootloop you can get to download mode. I don't think you're following the proper procedures to get into download mode. Method 3 works for me. Remove battery, sim card, put in battery, open ODIN, press both vol up and down and HOLD IT, and put in the usb cable while holding the two buttons and you should see download mode.

You don't necessarily need to see the Samsung logo/any logo/anything on the display for the jig to work.

You're saying that the battery symbol comes on when you plug in the USB plug? Have you tried removing the battery then pluging in the usb cord then holding down the volume up and down(all without the battery inserted) then while the cord is still plugged in and the volume up and down are held, insert the battery. This is the only way that I can get into download mode that works for me.

I give a reply to help a member based on my experiences. I've had a few bootloops with my captivate and a crap load of them on my magic. Having your phone in a bootloop does not do a hardware lock. It could mean a simple bad flash or maybe you didn't disable voodoo/lagfix before flashing a new rom, and so on and so on. I see that instead of trying to help you choose to rather flame on another member. I try my best to help others around since I cannot dev and I want to make contributions to the community somehow. If you can't respect that, then why do you post?
Ignore the nasty people, but seriously post in q&a next time, and request for the mods to move this there.
It took me a while before I figured out that there is more than one search function on xda and they are both starting you in the face and one is actually useful. I was distracted by the one at the to of the screen that searches all of xda and didn't notice the one below it that searches the sub forum or thread you are in only.
But on a more helpful note build the jig.
You can't doubt it and ask for other answers there aren't other answers other than just dumb luck that if you try enough combinations it will eventually work, it is the last resort. If your phone starts at all there is a good chance it will work.
Also have you tried to get into recovery? Have you tried a different usb cable?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
I believe you have failed in flashing an i9000 ROM on your captivate.
The international version of i9000 has a different button combonation to get into download or recovery mode.
I have had exactly the same problem several times, and everything I did to get into the download mode was simply holding the volume down button + the softkey Home button + power button.
You might think the soft key doesn't help because it is not a physical button, but trust me, in my case it did work perfectly.
You need to build a JIG if your phone doesn't boot at all, but in your case, the AT&T Logo does show up, so don't worry.

[Q] Need help!!! tried all methods to unbrick my captivate...

was on deviant ROM 11-6 with SetiroN i9000 SuperOptimized Reoriented v1.2.6 kernel
then disabled all Lagfix in CWM (lagfix edition)
then nandroid backup
then wipe user data
then flash AXURA Beta5
then black screen for 20 minutes+
pull battery
won't turn on again...
tried 1 button (power), 2 button (vol down + power), 3 button, (both vol + power), captivate jig (301 ohm resistor), one-click odin (both vol + odin running in PC), still no go... did I miss any un-bricking methods?
it still charges (as it gets warm when charging from wall)
no PC <--> phone screen, no download mode, no boot, no AT&T screen, no boot loop, simply BLACK screen whatsoever....
guys, please help!!! I do not want to be the 1st one to brick the unbrickable Galaxy S devices....
Also, if anyone from Toronto could help with their homemade jig, in case mine was not properly made...
When you are using the 2 button method to try and get into Download mode, did you pull out the battery, SIM, and external SD before hand? The directions for that method should be:
1. Pull out battery, SIM, and any external SD. Phone should also be unplugged from the computer.
2. Leave the phone in this "off" state for at least 10 seconds
3. Hold Vol Up/Down
4. Insert Battery
With regards to the 301kohm resistor JIG, you cannot touch any bare metal on the JIG when you're trying to use it. Your body will change the resistance from 301kohm, to something like 250kohm...which won't work. Again with the JIG, you want to remove the SIM and any external SD card as well.
Does the computer recognize the phone is being plugged in when it's at the black screen?
Also does the black screen have the buttons on the bottom of the phone light up?
You might be able to force the phone to go into download with ADB.
Otherwise try the above post... pull everything and keep trying. It should go into Download mode.

The only other option I could think of if I were in that position BESIDES getting a replacement would be to use JTAG to restore the phone.
http://riffbox.org/
It's an expensive piece of equipment at $150 USD. You might be able to try calling up independent cell phone repair stores as I would think a few might have a JTAG.

Wow, sorry to hear that bud... and really disappointing to hear that its a common issue!!!
I'm pretty sure something like that happened to me. I was still in my 30 day window so I took it back to AT&T and replaced it. At first it would just loop the AT&T logo. Then it just went black. Typically if you just get a black screen the phone is done. I would be interested to know how much it cost to get Samsung to fix it. Just incase....

[Q] Help!! My Captivate is totally bricked (Constant Black Screen)

Background: I was in the process of flashing my rom back to stock rom using Odin3 and it froze. Attempted to repeat the process and could not get it to enter the download mode. Use all of the 3 buttons combo methods, still no joy. Tried the 3 resistors (300 ohms) got it to go into download mode but did not have Odin ready to accept (Lost that download mode attempt). Repeated the process numerous times with no luck. My phone screen is BLACK always regardless of what I attempt to do. Would you consider this stage beyond recovery or is there hope beyond the black screen?
You might want to try the jig that is made to get it into download mode. You can make it yourself or buy one from mobiletechvideos.com
Here is the link. The video at the bottom shows you what it does and how to use it.
Here's a way that not too many people know about but always works for me:
1. Unplug phone from computer.
2. Remove battery, SIM, and external SD if you have one.
3. OPEN ODIN! You don't want to lose your chance again
4. Plug the USB cable back into the phone (remember, the battery is still not in the phone). DO NOT TURN THE PHONE ON.
5. Hold the volume rocker down (both the up and down volume keys).
6. Place the battery back in the phone while holding the volume rocker.
7. Download mode!

Lol but no, not too many people do.
This method is very much like another one, which requires you put in the battery first, then hold the volume down button and plug in the cord. But this one has you plug in the cord first, then put the battery in. This method worked for me when I got Phone -!- Comp, whereas the other one did not.
So you didn't burst my bubble at all, seeing as you're wrong. Thanks for the useful post though.
Maybe I am wrong but most of the people who helped me and people I talk to know about that technique lol. But maybe it's just coincidence.

Loggik, I appreciate your the method you have mentioned. I have tried that method and several others numerous time. I also used my (car) phone charger usb end, third pin closest to the headphone on one side and the second pin on the opposite side as jig (300 ohms) and it did not work. Not sure if the car charger is suitable for such. I also read somewhere that if your phone screen is black and unresponsive regardless of what method one would use, then the jig would be useless. Is that a true statement?

[Q] Help! Bricked phone... :/

Here is where I stand: my Captivate stops at the At&t screen. I can charge the battery, but that is it.
Problem: when I take out the battery and reinsert, the phone automatically turns on without press of the power button. I am not sure how to get it to stay off with the battery in. So because of that doing any of the combinations to get to the download mode so I can flash stock is not working.
I have also tried a make shift jig, and that hasn't worked either. If anyone else has
encountered this problem and fixed it let be know! I need to be able to have my phone off when I try the key combinations etc. So please help!!! Thanks!

On that jig did u put some tape between wire and your fingers? Are you sure you are connecting the correct pings? A key combo that might work is:
1)take out the battery, sim and SD
2) connect the usb to your phone and press the key combo (if on I897 bootloaders Vol +-)
3)stick in battery
4)you should have download mode
Yes, with the jig there is tape and I made sure it was with the correct pings.
With the key combination, all it does is restart my phone which gets me nowhere.
Is there a way to insert the battery so the phone doesn't automatically turn on?
Thing is if the jig is done right it supposed to work regardless. =/
Hmm, that is what I thought. I will keep working on it. If need be I will have to order one already made.
Just ordered one from MobileTechVideos.com, should be in Wed. I will let you know if it works.
something that just occured to me. Did you use 1/4 or 1/2 watt resistors?
Got the ordered jib in and it worked perfectly! I am relieved, now I can fix my Captivate.

[Q] Will a jig work in my case?

Hi, I'm new to the xda forum although I've been reading it for about a year, I did search but unfortunately I couldn't find an answer to my problem.
My captivate got bricked when Odin froze during flashing, now I get the (phone) /!\ (Computer) screen, the computer isn't detecting my phone so I can't use that screen as download mode and adb isn't seeing the device, 3 button combos don't work because my power button doesn't work, I ordered a jig but everywhere I read it says that you insert the jig while the phone is powered down, but in my case as soon as I put the battery in the phone turns on (because the power button is stuck), so my question is, will the jig work from the (phone) /!\ (Computer) screen, if not what else can I do?
Thanks in advance,
Nik

leave battery out of phone.
hold up and down volume keys while connecting usb cable. release volume up and down keys.

Connecting the usb cable acts just like putting the battery in, therefor, it should power it up. Although, if it doesn't (give it a few tries), try with inserting the battery as well.
Also, using another pc sometimes work.

Try inserting the battery after the cable is plugged.
If u wanna make a jig (cheap, easy, quick), take a look at my signature link below. There is a link to a thread on how to make a jig.
Here it is....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9238587&postcount=1
I'm sure there r several youtube videos on how to make one as well, if u wanna go that route.

Is your battery charge? lol, sorry kinda outta ideas. Never had a phone not connect to a pc after someone went through all the steps in 4-2ndtwin's guide.
Perhaps go read on ADB, it might help you.

I'll just wait for mine to arrive as I don't have all the parts.

I tried adb commands but it can't see the device... I might try all those steps again later today and reply on here how that goes.
And the battery is charged.
Thanks everyone, if anyone has any other ideas please tell me, I'll try to dig out the 3rd laptop and try on that, hope it works.

Ok so the 3rd pc can't see it either, so the problem is in the device not the pc, I guess the only thing I can do is wait for the jig... or fix the power button... anyone know how that can be done, at least temporarily so I can use the 3 button combo?

You can take the phone apart and using electrical contact cleaner you can spray the button down and click it repeatedly and then repeat several times. That has worked for me in the past but only temporarily. I would just wait for the jig though. Also when you get the jig, remove your battery plug the jig in and then replace the battery since your power button isn't working. If it's going to go into download mode that will do it.

Thanks, glad to hear from someone with the same button problem haha, I heard about spraying it but after taking it apart I wasn't sure if I should spray directly at the button or behind it(I didn't have the spray anyway, just wanted to have a look in-case I have to do it). I'll wait for the jig and see how that goes.
I've had the problem where I couldn't connect to the computer from that screen as well.
The jig did the trick. Went out to the local Radioshack, purchased the resistors, and used them to start the phone. Sometimes that screen will act as download mode, sometimes it wont. For the times it wont, having a jig is always handy
I went ahead and purchased a pre-made jig as well. Just for backup.
