AT&T Vivid, dropped calls and warrenty - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

my htc vivid has has dropped calls and bad signal for over a month now. First they told me it was a bad tower, then they called and told me it was a bad phone and if the replacement didnt work theyd need to change the model. Today I got my replacement, same issues, called them back. they remoted my phone to SEE the issue, then assured me it was the towers again, then we got disconnect, they called me back and got disconnected again. So i called them back and got someone new and she was sweet and said he was crazy it had to be my phone so they are sending me another vivid... I wish they would have just given me another model, so i could have a working phone and wouldnt be pulling my hair out over dropped calls and u sent messages.
Anyone having issues?

Since you are talking warranty... You prolly have the stock ROM on it...
It sucks... The fix is to switch ROMs... But you'll void your warranty....
Its up to you..

Sprint sending bad replacement Touch (updated) this may be my good bye message

I had my touch replaced through tech support I activated it through Sprints website it activated so I waited till the next day to use the internet because it was late and I was home so I didn't need the net so I went to use the net to get some info it wouldn't provision for data so I called tech support and was transferred to advance tech support and during the 2 hour call they couldn't get data to work so i took the phone to the store they couldn't get it to work either so they ordered a new replacement for a replacement phone I got the new phone and took it home waited til the next day again same issue so I called again the same thing so I keep the phone I was originally having the a issue with and sent both replacement back to Sprint sad thing is the net works on my phone but the phone turns off during calls
(UPDATE)
I just got off the phone with sprint after sending a email to dan and they are given me a Touch Pro 2 for my touch tomorrow at my local sprint store so I will be leaving the vogue community as off tomorrow barring they doen't try to pull any slick moves when I go to the store tomorrow
haha i had that same issue with one a while ago, but i just got another through warranty exchange again
I had 2 touches in a 4 day span I guess its karma because I've went through at least 13 touches since it came out in 07 for free I never used insurance
did you provision data in windows mobile or were you trying to do it from android?
I am smiling to myself in painful acknowledgment ... My touch digitizer bit the dust the day before our 2 week family trip to San Diego Sea World and I left the service center, because they said it they tested the replacement (my a$$) phone. It actually made calls but would never connect to the internet. Very aggravating, And we were using Google maps and Bing a lot on the trip so I am glad My wife had her Touch Pro 2.....

the touch is CDMA, CDMA phones can't do data + phone call at the same time, GSM phones can.

I was saying that if I call some one the phone turns off I know that cdma doesn't do data and calls at the same time my issue for getting the replacement was because my phone would power off during phone calls

Yes I think sprint is sending out bad ones, i've had to replace mine 4 times in the last year, one they sent out had a bad SD card slot. They couldn't 'reproduce the problem' in the store so I told them to shove it and replace it anyways. all the others had bad USB ports.

Funny you should mention that... The hinge that holds the slider is pulling away from the phone and now AUDIO is cutting out and I have to reboot like 3 times to restore the audio... Its only 8 mos old!
How bout they called me to make sure I sent the phone back today but when I told them that the replacements were worse than the broken phone the wanted to transfer me to customer care whats so messed up is that the in store fix for everything is a hard reset and making sure the water damage sticker is still white
I am suppose to be getting a new Touch Pro2 from sprint tomorrow and will keep my upgrade so I can get the EVo once they fix the issues with it
Be glad they didn't send you one with a stolen ESN. What a pain that was to go through...
Damn thats ****ed up but they are given me a touch pro 2 today because I was given 2 bad replacent
Was your Touch under warranty?
when mine had problems i just went to sprint and had them replace it for free.

Crazy bad signal compared to S4 - bad phone?

So long story short, my roommate got my S4 and I got what was supposed to be his One. I was in love with the S4. Great LTE speeds, battery life, screen, etc.
Well now that I'm on the One, I'm finding a HUGE disparity in signal... Without a case, his signal is 10-12dB better than me consistently and his LTE speeds are double mine.
Is it par for the course that the One has a bad signal? I've flashed other radios (surprisingly even the international radios have 1700 band support even though the international models don't support that band) with marginal differences but I'm not impressed... And I've lost phone calls because of it.
Have any of you compared the signal side by side with another device and noticed such a large disparity? With my case on, I get no LTE signal at all. His S4 had a case on the entire time.
This whole thing has been a nightmare but I'm going to be really upset if I have to do a warranty exchange (and thus get a refurb) on a phone we've had since the 11th. :/
Well I have just decided to use WiFi at home and I turned off LTE... Not what I want to spend 579 dollars on but when I'm out of the house, LTE picks up. Sad though. For such a lauded device it certainly gets a terrible signal...
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Sounds like you got a bad radio chip. I have no trouble getting full LTE speeds, and neither do most people.
I was afraid you were going to say that. I'll call the store tomorrow and have him confirm. If he confirms that an S4 and One are about on par in signal I'm sending this One back under buyer's remorse and getting a new one in a month or so.
The the question becomes - can I even return a phone after using HTC Dev? I know how to restore everything but I wonder if I can do that. I've returned phones I did all kinds of things with before but I've never used HTC Dev

Who did you get it from? I can't speak to T-Mo or Sprint, but AT&T is very lenient about warranty exchanges. From what I've seen, as long as you're inside the one year, they don't seem to care if you unlocked.
I don't know how it is with international variants but here in the UK my One has much better signal than my S4 (I9505). At work I have terrible signal so it really shows up bad radios. If I use an iPhone 5 for example it constantly drops to NO SERVICE. The S4 is marginally better but the HTC One, whilst still displaying a low signal strength, is rock solid and never drops to EDGE and/or shows the dreaded circle with a line running through it like the S4.
I can only assume you have a faulty phone.

I'm with T-Mobile and it would be a return. I just got the phone on the 11th and long story short, didn't start using it until yesterday. I am in the buyer's remorse period until the 25th or do you think I should just warranty exchange it?

I have no experience with T-Mo, so I can't say which would be better. But it seems like if it's defective, get an exchange. Make sure they give you a new one from the store stock, though.

They're going to overnight me a brand new in box S4 and we are going to send them the One back tomorrow and they're going to credit us 10 dollars for the shipping the defective device back. I have had to refurb every HTC device I've ever had in my sig in my list at least twice and I never wanted the One in the first place, I wanted the S4 and my roommate wanted the One - he hated it and its been an absolute nightmare ever since. Getting a broken phone out of the box and all the issues I've seen on this forum and the issues I've had already, its not worth getting another One.

I confirmed that its a bad radio. Now I need to figure out how to downgrade my firmware, return everything to stock, S-ON, etc so I can I return it. I'm a bit concerned about not being able to get it to stock HBOOT and off the engineering HBOOT :/

Sprint Repair Question

I think my internal antenna may be damaged and i want to take it into Sprint to be looked at, but my phone is rooted with S-Off. Do i have to undo everything and bring it back to stock in order for them to look at and if there is a problem, fix my phone? thanks
They are supposed to fix it rooted or not as long as it's a hardware problem
I work at a repair center and he is correct but in this situation it's irrelevant. This phone is unrepairable. If there is a hardware issue the only option a repair center has is to order a replacement. If you don't want that done then you can use your HTC warranty. But you will have to ship your phone to HTC and be without it for at least 2 weeks. They will attempt to fix it and if it can't be fixed then they will replace your device which you would lose everything. So just use your insurance. Last I checked, the device is still new enough to receive a new device instead of a refurbished device. When in doubt, Return your phone to stock and have it replaced.

Return it to stock. Goto Sprint store. They'll order you a new one and it'll hit your door in 2-3 days. My phone blew the top speaker. The repair center did the order, I tracked it with the number they provided to my email and I was back in business in only a few days.

Damn I didnt even think about the fact that it is not repairable, I'm assuming because of its 1-piece aluminium body or whatever. So, if they can't open it up to see if it is the internal hardware are they going to assume that it is because I rooted and/or made it s-off? or is there some way they will be able to tell if it is hardware related without actually opening up the phone?

My issue is that all of a sudden i have no service anywhere, including places that I used to. I've always had great service with sprint, until the last few weeks. I'll be on 3G or 4G with full bars and i'll drop the call. I've literally had more dropped calls in the past few weeks than i have had the entire 5 years i've been with sprint, combined. That's not an exaggeration. There hasn't been any change to any towers nearby and I haven't relocated or anything. Sprint said i should be getting great service where in and around where i live. So I'd imagine that it has to be the phone. It's been rooted with S-off long before this started happening. So i feel like it has to be something hardware related. I'm open to other suggestions.

i'm not quit sure the procedure on this phone, usually an RUU and then a factory reset from stock recovery will restore radio function.
there may be another way of restoring radio function, not sure, may someone who knows for sure can chime in here.this may or may not be your problem but it couldn't hurt to try

[Q] How many HK owners are having data/voice issues?

A simple "yes" or "no" and where you are located should suffice.
Spent a total of 5 hours with Sprint between the phone and corporate stores since the first day this came out and today I was finally told the truth that all Sprint HK M8 owners are facing data issues.
To be specific(D.C. is a spark area) Every 15 minutes or so, my data/voice will drop regardless of what I am doing and pick back up anywhere between 1x and lte/spark 3-4 minutes later like clock work.
The lady at the corporate store let me see how my phone was in the red(see last pic). I went back to stock unrooted. Downloaded the .15 update. Updated profiles, PRLs, ##72786# data resets constantly and this problem still exists. The best that any representative could do is credit me $30 for my troubles(bull ****). Tried to get a replacement handset and they told me no. No one has given me any sort of "this will be fixed soon". Its always "well.....profile/prl/data updates cant fix this so a technician will look at your local tower"
I'm trying to get a rough estimate as to how many people are having the same problems
Here are pics for reference. This all happened with in 2 hours and continues to happen
http://imgur.com/a/5GeWu
Don't be surprised if you see this on other forums. Kind of going every where to see how many are having issues.

Im having the same issues but only when connected to my airrave.

Might want to have them check the SIM Card Reader. When I brought mine in after having the phone for a week, they told me that the issue were a result of the reader being busted. They replaced my phone right away with no issues since I only had it for a week. From what I hear is that the longer you've had the phone, the less likely Sprint will replace it though.
I'm heading over to the store again today to have them actually look at it.
They finally acknowledged that it is a handset problem. After looking at the service trends again I was red in voice and device was grey(don't know what that means). Crossing fingers that this fixes the issue but also Hoping that this isn't the only solution as it sounds costly

Grey means not enough data collected yet to determine anything.
I'm having bad issues as well as everyone else I personally sold HK and Non HK M8 too something is not right.. I'm to scared to order myself a replacement and not be able to achieve S-Off on it.. But I could buy the 25 dollar app to get it. Anyway Ive asked about these issues no response worth talking about. Hope to solve this soon guys...
Just got an HKE no problems here. I actually get better signal and speeds than on my Note 3. No Spark just LTE

It's a damn shame. Flew through Milwaukee, Vegas, Reno, and am in lake Tahoe on vacation and it's the same **** everywhere.
Flash the roam only mod then the Verizon prl. I'm getting better signal now then when I was with Verizon. I also have an hk m8 btw.
Received my replacement at 11am(EST) this morning and have had zero drops or issues since then. Been at full service in Spark since then.
Will update this thread in a few days with my findings.
Sucks because I am afraid to root/s-off because everything is working but I miss my backups of apps(Ti Backup) that I have been working on for years and hate these damn ads and bloat ware.
Im in the same boat waiting on my replacement tommorow. Im looking at it this way. Make sure you have the latest firmware and there should be no difference. I guessing bad antennas in some and some are just lucky and got a good one. Maybe start a thread Rooted vs Non rooted with signal quality and maybe we can answer our own question?
I have been holding off a Sprint visit for weeks, but after getting voicemails without getting phone calls on numerous occasions, I will have to go to Sprint.
However, after completely unrooting my phone in preparation to go to Sprint, I might not root my replacement whenever I decide to go there.
HTC Backup is excellent, in my opinion, and it really helps we with my lack of Titanium Backup. I don't like the ads either, but I think that it might be time to throw in the towel on rooting my phone. I've gotten more than my share of rom flashes and whatnot.
I was given a replacement due to my original having a bad antenna. Ive had zero issues since getting my new phone
SENT FROM MY ROCKING HK M8
I just as got my second one In less then a week and it keeps showing data connection error or some like that
If you're having trouble with your HTC One M8 download the latest latest network performance test tool.
"dl3 . htc . com/us/sprint/network_performance_test_tool_v0.85.zip" <=== Official website I cant post link currently so remove spaces.
If you get a red screen with NG device you need a replacement. It's a known device problem so charges will be waived.
New radio seems to fix problems
I was having tons of data connection issues with my M8. I recently followed the posts on doing the recent firmware update (OTA for those of you not rooted) and it includes a radio update. The new radio seems to be working quite well and I haven't had any connection issues. Hopefully this works for you guys too.

Earpiece Rattle

Anybody else have issues when on a call the earpiece rattles, similar to a blown speaker?
Calling T-Mobile to get the phone swapped out, has been a nightmare getting transfered from department to department. Not sure if they did it correctly, rep stated I need to send the phone back, then they will ship me the replacement. Is that the correct process on how things go?
Also had the bootloop issue the first day, but that seemed to have gone away.

What they are doing is a return and re billing. This makes sure you get a brand new unit and not s refurb.
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
It's not the ear piece. It's the camera behind the ear piece. Search around and you'll see that it's normal for these cameras.

good to know because thats not how they normally do it. They normally send you the replacement (yes refub, or not if they dont got it) and then you put your phone in that box and return it.
And i dont have the ear piece rattle but i get a vibration in the back of the phone. Feels like bass from a speaker. Hasnt bug me yet so im ok for now.

The last rep I spoke to was telling me that the Note 7 showing as end of life. That I would have to go through Samsung to fix it. Since it was less then a year old. I'm going to call back and try to get a replacement phone first.
Update:
I have to buy another one and ship the one I have back, for a refund. Still on the phone with the rep. She trying to charge me the $20 fee.
