Get rid of google bar - Moto X Q&A

Anyone know how I can get rid of this google bar at the top of the homescreen?

I think the only way is to use an alternate launcher.

Can't you just hold it and swipe it to the trash can? I'm using nova launcher and I can.

No, it's baked into the default launcher.

I'm going to have to look into it... It's a launcher right? I never used a launcher like that... Would it slow down the phone?

Features lost when using Nova launcher

Can anyone tell me what features we lose by using Nova (or any other) launcher? I know we lose the TouchWiz Widgets, but do we lose any pen features or anything else of consequence?
Thanks.

That's great to hear. I wasn't sure how much of the TouchWiz framework was tied to the launcher.

On Nova launcher you can make a swipe up on the locker icon launch flipboard, so I haven't lost that functionality.

GEL bug

I think I found a bug. Spamming the app drawer and home button one after the other quickly opens the widget page. Can someone else confirm this?

Sometimes, rearranging icons on the homescreen automatically adds another homescreen. Anybody else faced this?

I'm wondering if the new 4.4.1 OTA to the N5 has a new GEL?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
If you uninstall an app from the app drawer, it adds an extra empty page.

Actually yes. The latest gel apk is 0.10. Nothing changed visually though since the actual launcher is Google Now.

Sometimes, when you swipe to the left and back and press the navkeys a lot, the Google now page becomes black apart from the search box

What launcher allows widgets in the dock?

I would like to use notyfier+ widgets in that dock. I see nova does...

Apex does.
Tried apex and it wouldn't allow widgets.

I'm just using it for notyfier. It looks like a regular icon but has badges that update with numbers.
