[4.2.2][FTF][SGP312] Xperia Tablet Z Wifi 32 GB - 10.3.1.C.0.136 Generic US - Xperia Tablet Z Android Development

I'm using US firmware, this FTF is created by using Flashtool with files from PCC.
This is for the 32 GB Wifi version, Flash with flashtool.
The usual applies, I am not responsible if it blows up your device. Use at your own risk.
'simlock.ta' and 'preset1.ta' are excluded.
This is my first time making a FTF so please be kind

Haven't flashed it yet since I'm at work but I'm sure it will work.
Thanks!!

Anyone got a root solution for this ftf and locked bootloader without needing using OTA?

Some body has said that if you manage to config SuperSU as a system app, then you can maintain the root access. Some thing like this:
- You are on 4.1.2 rooted.
- Config SuperSU as a system app.
- Flash the ftf without wiping data with Flashtool.
- You still have root access.
I did not try the method above yet

I don't believe this is correct. It must be ota to keep root. Unless you upgrade, downgrade the kernel root, and then flash only the updated kennel back

Is this Generic US or Global??
Is there a difference between the two?
I flashed it and it is apparently Global. Is there any difference between the 2?

May be Generic US since I was using the Generic US 4.1.2

Hmm, I created the FTF for the 4.2.2. My customization is Global. Not sure if I should post it. They look the same after flashing.

Yes, it's safe to do that. But please make sure yours is SGPXX, not SO-XX.

Install 10.3.1.B.0.256 on Rotted SO-02E?
Has anyone figured out a way to install 10.3.1.B.0.256 on a rooted SO-02E yet?
I Rooted my Phone using EasyRootingToolkit_XPEIRAZ_SO-02E_v101, and would like to upgrade to 4.2.2 but the OTA install fails at about 15%
Thanks

Having a similar issue here.
Any ideas?
Has anyone tried using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip from this thread? Since it's possible to root 10.1.D.0.343 I would try upgrading to 10.3.1.B.0.256 first, then install 10.1.D.0.343 kernel using Flashtool, then root using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip then install the new 10.3.1.B.0.256 kernel. I would create a 10.3.1.B.0.256.ftf and test it but I'm on a business trip in Australia at the moment and don't have the time.
Does any knowledgeable person have any update on this situation?
Any tips of what we Docomo users should do? I don't want to lose my root. And other users point out updating outright doesn't work anyway.
I'll pay a beer to whomever helps us Docomo sheep out

Have you looked at the DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip thread? The same procedure should apply since you can root 10.1.D.0.343's kernel.
1. Upgrade to 10.3.1.B.0.256 (you'll lose root at this point)
2. install 10.1.D.0.343's kernel
3. root using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip
4. install 10.3.1.B.0.256 kernel

Thx, but my phone's bootloader is locked (as are all Docomo phones). I thought it was impossible to install a different kernel then. Not t mention that some people noted that the OTA upgade doesn't work if your pone is rooted. Haven't tried it myself though.
Losing root does not mean I lose CWM, right?
Edit: So I tried updating it, the update just stops after 2-3 minutes, the phone reboots and I get a message 'update failed, please try again'.

it'll still work with the SO-02E locked bootloader. I too am on SO-02E locked bootloader docomo and have tested this method using 10.3.1.A.2.67. After installing 10.3.1.B.0.256 you'll have to reinstall 10.1.D.0.343's kernel using Flashtool then just use rootkit to root it and finally reinstall 10.3.1.B.0.256's kernel using Flashtool.
I usually create my own .ftf files and use Flashtool to upgrade. I can't test it since I'm in Australia at the moment but it should work as long as you have 10.1.D.0.343's kernel installed....just don't forget to reinstall 10.3.1.B.0.256 afterwards. You'll lose CMW/TWRP so you'll have to reinstall it afterwards.
I've been trying to do the OTA update. But it keeps failing. I was pretty confident with my old Galaxy Note, flashing new roms and kernels almost every day, but I can't seem to get the hang of fooling around with my Xperia Z. I'm really afraid of losing my NFC-Felica functions, I need them daily for my commute.
I think the update fails because of my root. I could reflash an original ROM, but then I will loose root and recovery if I understand it correctly. The update will probably work, but can I reflash 434 then to root it? (434 was Android 4.1.2 and the new firmware is 4.2.2).
I'm kinda confused (and very stupid apparently .

The issue I am running into is that I cannot make the OTA Update (Step 1)work with or without losing the root.
If I could get to that point I'm pretty sure I could follow the procedure to to reroot the device, I just need to get the initial upgrade taken care of.
Any Thoughts?
Thanks

I had exactly the same problem, impossible to remove the root correctly to make the OTA work. In the end I just used flashtool to put stock 434 back on the phone. The OTA worked perfectly after that. Especially now that you can root 256 it's a non issue. Make a backup with Titanium backup of your apps on your SD card before restoring it. You can use it to put all your apps back after you root 256. A bit annoying, but all in all it's the easiest way I've found.
Thanks
That worked. Thanks to everyone for all your help.

[Q] Anywahere to download 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware?

I seem to be in the only country that can't get the 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware yet. It's not showing up on my phone or using PC Companion. It tells me I have the latest version already (I have 10.1.1.A.1.310 on a ZR model C5502).
Is it possible to get a manual download from anywhere?
My phone is very new and I will want to root it, but I thought it would be sensible to get the .67 FW first, then root (hopefully using vRoot).
I have seen this download: C5503_10.3.1.A.2.67_RU.ftf whcih is posted here: http://www.xperiaguide.com/2013/09/...2-2-10-3-1-a-2-67-firmware-update-rolled-out/ but it says on that page...
NOTE :- As soon C5502 ftf file will be available, we will update the links. If you are desperate to use above file you can use it, it will do no harm. Cross flash it. Root your device. Then edit your build.prop back to C5502.

and I don't know what "cross flash it" means or how to "edit my build.prop back to C5502".
I'm also guessing that the "RU" means that the FW above is Russian. Not sure if that matters?
Any help very gratefully received. Thank you.

This is the untouched Sony FTF so if you flash with this, it will give you latest build by wiping your phone so root is lost. I created the zip file and stripped FTF for this firmware but didn't upload it. Let me know if you want it, Ill try uploading again... last time dev host was being a bit** about it.

No, on 4.3 it doesn't work like that.
1 - You need to flash back to 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 firmware with flashtool, 1 that will let you root your tablet with a 1 click root method from DoomLord.
2 - Install Recovery once rooted
3 - Upload the zip file to your SDCard and flash the zip from CWM or TWRP
4 - Power Off WITHOUT rebooting
5 - Flash with Flashtool the the stripped FTF
Boot and you will be rooted on the latest firmware.
Its the same way as in this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588442 )except you will be using the latest files/firmware.
I'll upload the files later for whoever wants them ... getting off work in a few hours.

Just follow these steps:

3) turn off phone

[Q] Can't write on system after root- Kitkat Xperia Z1- no permission

Hi everyone,
I know my title just explained everything
but i will explain in details now here
i bought an Xperia Z1 after burning my Xperia Z because of over heating it.
anyway
all what i wanted to do is rooting my Xperia Z WITHOUT installing another firmware UNLESS there's a way to not lose my data.
i guess what i have not is a half root, i have SuperSU installed
CWM installed BUT i can't access it. i only access it by flashing it again from the PC, its like one time use only :silly:
anyway i installed supersu and rooted the device
root checker says congratulations you have root access
busybox says install was not successful try another path AND i tried another path which leaded me to the same result
the problem is
I DON'T HAVE THE WRITE PERMISSION IN THE SYSTEM!!!
HELP?!

Hello.
I was experiencing the same problem after rooting 14.3.A.0.757 on my Xperia Z1. I searched the forums and found that the problem is due to Sony's RIC service. Correct me if I am wrong. Updating to the latest XZDualRecovery will solve the problem.
This is what I did: (I am assuming you have a working rooted 14.3.A.0.757)
Download the latest flashable zip from NUT's XZDualRecovery thread in Cross-Device Development and flash it via recovery. You have now upgraded your recovery to the latest version. Now you can mount system partition with r/w.

[Help] How to update rooted 4.4.4 to latest without losing root

I have managed to downgrade my Xperia z1 c6906 to 4.4.4 fw. 187 and rooted it.
I wondering now what steps I can take to have it updated to the latest fw and keep root. I used flash tool to flash the 4.4.4 onto my phone and then used towelroot to root it.
I'm also unsure which recovery I can install on the device that will work.
I've searched around for some solutions to no avail and a lot of links for downloads were broken.
Thanks for your help

Downgrading to KK isn't necessary. Use the EasyRoot tool instead.
Alternatively, you can grab a pre-rooted FTF through XperiFirm/XDA or build one yourself.

I don't think easy root works on 5.1.1. I tried it myself.
So what you wanna do is to downgrade to 4.4.4 and use EasyRoot from there, where it really works.
Then you make a pre-rooted FTF file + the latest version you want. You'll need a recovery for your rooted phone.
Flash it, and ta-da, you just brought your roots into the latest version!

I did however managed to root 5.1.1 by using kingroot, replacing kingroot with superSU using the terminal editor and then flashing the dual recovery.
I'm now happily rooted and running a custom rom.

Yeah. I took the hassle myself to go back because the one click root apps seem to be shady and I do not trust them.

Fair enough, this was my old sony phone and I just wanted to breathe new life and usability into it with some custom roms.
If you did go back to 4.4.4 I think you can just pre-root a ftf file and flash it if you want the latest fw

I have not tried that.
Like I said it was an old phone that I was just breathing new life into. Will likely become a home media controller device/ back up phone.

Can you try it for me? It is located in Settings>Accounts>Add Account>Xperia with Facebook. I think this used to work properly before Lollipop, but I wonder if it only happens to me.
