FOR CWM FOLLOW THIS LINK http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45314305#post45314305

Can't get it to work
I've now tried 4 different Framaroot. The one linked here til the latest 1.6.1 version.
I've also tried 2 different version of Bin4ry.
Still no luck!
My phone is a LG L7 (p705f) bought in Thailand.
It's running v20b (Android 4.1.2)
Kernel 3.4.0
Build number: JZO54K
Latest Framaroot said nothing, so I tried a few time. Still no root.
Latest Bin4ry said it was done... Wasn't.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm allowing software from unknown/other sources, Debug..
(No previous experience of this)

I could not get any versions of Firmaroot to root my LG-P705 Optus Australia version. I keep getting error code #5.
I've also tried Rescue Root to no avail
I'm now going to try cydia impactor. Will update if I get any results.
UPDATE - cydia impactor worked flawlessly! We have root

LG P705 rooting
Yes, Impactor works great, but what i haven't suceeded is in installing a cwm recovery
to make stock backup and migrate to a newer ROM

[Q] How do I proceed now that I've rooted?

I've followed a root guide (not able to link due to account restrictions), however I am not sure whether I have rooted correctly (Superuser has been installed via the root). I'm a beginner in rooting and thought it would be straight forward (due to the number of tutorials around), but I don't know how to proceed now.
My basic objective is to install jelly bean with no issues in usage as the owner isn't very tech literate. The tutorials I have tried to follow thus far have had some steps which aren't possible in my circumstance or certain steps which aren't possible due to a change in the app.
If possible I will appreciate it if someone helps me, whether here, or on skype/teamspeak; preferably on the latters as it will speed up the process and I am quite time restricted. If possible I don't mind completely resetting the kindle to its original software and such and starting again just to be sure If I have rooted, but I don't know how to do that.
Thanks in advance

Thats to Root; I've already rooted (assuming from the video when it says you can see the superuser app)
Well if you have rooted right go to your browser and search for an app called Root Checker. It does not require root. It checks to see if your rooted right. If you are not rooted right the app will say so but if you are rooted right you get a message saying "You have successfully rooted your device." Hope I helped you.

Thanks
Ok, I've now installed the play store and disabled ads using this VERY useful tutorial (thanks prok!). Is there a similar tutorial on how to install jelly bean on it now?
Well the best rom out there right now is Unofficial CM10.1 from Hashcode. Yes, you could install a different one but Unofficial CM10.1 is currently the best in my opinion.

TowelRoot

Wondering if anyone has tried towelroot on 4.3 for locked bootloaders, it says on the site that theoretically it should support any device build built before June 3rd.
I understand we have a locked bootloader but so does the Verizon and AT&T S5

Worked for me
I used it and it seems to work fine. Very easy, go the towelroot.com site, click on the symbol and download the app.I enabled installing from non-secure sources in settings/security. I installed the .apk and it ran, rebooted automically and I now have root. I am running Stock 9.2.A.0.295 now rooted without all the downgrading etc. Sweet! You must have read the same article on Androidpolice that I read.

1. With the help of a file manger install TowelRoot
2. Install modified FlashgordonBB , and then with it PhilZ Recovery . Don't use the "normal" Flashgordon.
3. Flash Update Supesu in Recovery.
4.Reboot and install Supersu.
Set.

I don't think its good idea becouse some ppls can't root with it sucessfuly.
So SuperSu is advising an Update
So apparently, SuperSu is now offering an update - I was wondering what version, so I launched SuperSu and it updated after I allowed it, choosing "Normal" instead of TWRP/CWM - because I don't have a recovery installed. It worked fine and it suggested a reboot - which after that I had version 2.0. Works great.

Towelroot works without unlocking bootloader!

Yesterday, Geohot released his Towelroot exploit here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
Towelroot was made for the Verizon / AT&T Galaxy S5, reported working with the Note 3, and is supposed to work on pretty much any device with a kernel built before June 3. Since the TF701T has a kernel from Apr 18, I tried Towelroot on a completely stock TF701T and can report that I am now rooted without unlocking my boot loader.
Just leaving this here in case there are any further developments. I'd love to see how much can be done without voiding warranty through bootloader. At the very least, we have Xposed.
worked for me too !
Thanks great !
Good news. Can a mod sticky this please.
Thanks, it works very well. I want to know if I can install custom recovery without unlocking bootloader.

No you will need to unlock the boot loader to install a custom recovery I'm afraid.
Confirmed! Works great. Are you using Chainfire or the regular superuser. Chainfire tells me I need to update the binary but fails to do it. Using regular superuser now.
This is what i was looking for!!
We can at least get Xposed, Delete bloatwares, Starting Apps, Titanium Backup, Adaway.
But can someone confirm my doubts, Because this exploit works with before June kernels, it obviously means that if Asus bring us 4.4 we will not able to have a persistant root, except if a dev create a working LB custom recovery and then a Pre-rooted, zipaligned, deodexed 4.4 rom.
Am i wrong bros?
Envoyé de mon K00C en utilisant Tapatalk
Works for now but 4.4 will most likely use the newer patched kernel. My Note 3 w I think KK is showing Kernel version 3.4 so KK may not have to use a kernel later then that.

Ok so root on 4.4 will only be possible by another exploit or unlocking BL.
I think i'm going so stay on a rooted 4.3 for now

Updating SU bin
Regarding 'Out of date' SU bin message - after rooting with towel root install attached apk and then manually update.
Restoration and warranty concerns
Now, this might be a silly question for most Android users, and for me, but seeing as how I just can't trust my tablet that much with its wonkiness I have to ask: is it possible to "unroot" my device after using Towelroot and returning back to stock? Also, can ASUS see that I've been rooting my device, even though the bootloader has not been touched, and not accept my warranty?

To unroot do a factory reset.
There is no flash count so Asus can't be aware of this.

I may be stupid, but how is this supposed to work? I download tr.apk and when I try to install it, my TF701 says "App not installed". Is it not a straight-forward one-click method, or is is more complicated than this? On some other threads, it seems that there is a step of connecting the phone to the PC and running an installation batch script. Is this true for the TF701 as well?
Can someone supply a step-by-step guide on how to do this?
You just have to allow third party apps in Security settings and then click and install the apk. No pc or script needed.

I already have that (unless it somehow has reset itself - will check when I get home) - and it still said "App not installed" when I tried to install it.
It even came up and told me what permissions the application requested (which I don't think will happen, if I haven't enabled third party apps). Among those I saw an interesting one that I hadn't seen before - maybe that's the "root" cause of the exploit (pun intended )
Very strange... I have two TF701s, and on the oldest one (JB 4.3, Kernel 3.4.57 Apr 18, build 10.26.1.28) the tr.apk won't install. On my recently bought TF701 (Still not updated, running JB 4.2.2, Kernel 3.4.35, Oct 22 2013, build 10.14.1.47) it ran without any problems.
Has anyone with the Apr 18 update run the TowelRoot exploit successfully on their TF701?

Simple way to root SM-G800F with Chainfire and Odin

Hi All,
since friday a YouTube video is out showing how to root the SM-G800F in only 2 minutes.
You can find the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XpGTwifH50
You will find all needed downloads in the information section of the video: Odin, CainFire SM-G800F root, Samsung USB Driver.
You don't need to re-configure your device afterwards.
I just tried it and it works perfectly without reinstalling the rom or anything else. Just the typical Odin stuff, some clicks and it's done. Everything stays as it was before, you only get root.
Enjoy! :victory:
IMPORTANT: it's obviously only for the SM-G800F!
It would have been nice if you mentioned who created this rooting method here as well as on youtube. You say Chainfire, but he officially does not support SM-G800F. Check http://autoroot.chainfire.eu

It is a bit more than trying a prepackaged binary on a new device. That won't work at all. If you don't believe me then download any file you like from chainfire's website and try to use it on SM-G800F. The trick is to modify enough of that original code to work on the new device. That modification is my own work, which I published on the other thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54592755&postcount=4, without any permission to redistribute it. A big part of the file is originally from chainfire, another big part is from Samsung itself, the modification to combine it all in a way that it works on SM-G800F is mine. The name 'kminilte' refers to the SoC chip on the phone as shown by the kernel.

In any case Chainfire now has his own version of autoroot for each S5 Mini variant in the market. Mine only works on SM-G800F not on other variants. My file has the md5 sum dc6517140efa4058d1f67c8e1784efe7 and Chainfire's files have different md5 sums as listed on his website.
build numbers
Anyone know if this method will work with a different build No?? KOT49H.G800FXXU1ANL1 - S5 Mini
Or how I can get it to work!? Need root
Many thanks in advance!
Flash counter?
I'm new to the Samsung modding scene, so excuse me if my question is outdated.
But are the flash counter / yellow triangle still a problem on Samsung devices? Do I need to take any preliminary measures, to ensure that I can revert to stock and not give away that I have had it flashed (for warranty cases)?
If we use this methode to root our device, do we need to re-install all our apps as it would on a new clean install ?
To awnser my own question
No, we don't re-install all the apps as stated in the first post.
Chainfire's bootloader is fantastic !!!!
Is it good for G800F lollipop firmware ?

I installed the ROM, flashed arter97's kernel, and then flashed SuperSU 2.49. Xposed does run just fine using wanam's latest zip for s6.
i would like to try that one, can u link me to the Deodexed rom? and what xposed u used? 28 August?
Thats a bit of an old version "OGE". Latest is OH7...
So if anybody is capable, could someone post a deodexed version of the latest stock for N920I please?
you can use a deodexed rom of t-mobile then you can install wanam exposed but guess what ? if you install an unsupported exposed modules your phone will boot loop , so i advice you to stay on the samsung rom
