[Q] N7000 bricked? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, peeps!
So I was when starting an application, my phone doesn't respond. Tried the power button and it didn't work so I removed the battery and placed it back in.
Here's when my nightmare starts. My phone is stuck at the "GT-N7000" screen, and I cannot proceed further. I'm unable to start Recovery Mode (Vol Up + Power + Home), and only Download Mode works.
However, I tried flashing stock roms, Odin showed no progress even after almost 2 hours.
What seems to be the issue? Is it a hard brick?

Questions should be in the Q&A section.
Is odin able to detect the phone.. ( the port square in odin turns yellow/blue?).
check if there are any Kies processes running in the task manager.. kill them, restart odin and restart phone in download mode and try again.

Hi, how do I move the topic?
Odin is able to detect it. Checked and no Kies processes running at all.

where is Odin getting stuck?

stuck at the NAND Write part, and the progress bar shows no progress at all (the green bar thing). Could this mean hard brick?

do you have warranty? If yes, take it to Samsung and tell them to rectify it. If no warranty then, you will need to get into recovery may be by flashing a kernel using odin.

Wow...thank you for such quick replies!!
Nope, no longer in warranty..Can I have a link to the kernel file?
Thank you so much!

Before you go about this.. try a reboot PC, reboot download mode phone. try a original USB cable and main USB port of pc and flash again,
If above still stops at NAND
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
look for a tar.md5 file which is odin flashable. If you remember the build number of you phone, then pick that else get any JB kernel and flash using odin. check if odin gives a pass.

I've flashed it, unfortunately it's stuck at NAND (kernel flash). Are there any alternatives?
Thanks!

Sorry for double posting, here's the screenshot..

you dont need to select it everywhere... just the PDA ONLY.
1. download http://d-h.st/FVh.. this is a PIT file.. select it in the PIT partition. Check it and also repartition.
2. select the kernel file in the PDA..
3. press start... (you will need to reboot into download mode every time to start flashing. so remove the battery.. reboot into download mode.. (vol down+home+power)... after you get the screen volume up to continue.. once the screen shows DOWNLOADING, then connect to pc .. open odin

Thanks again!
How long does it normally take for the entire process to complete? The progress bar of "Set Partition" isn't moving at all

There seems to be some issue with the USB Port or Cable or PC.. you need to check ...a full flash of rom takes about 5-10 mins.

use only the back usb port, don't use the front or extension usb ports, they often throw up problems.. good luck

elprix and
I tried everything suggested, but the progress bar doesn't even move
What are the symptoms of hard brick btw?
EDIT : I tried with Odin3 V3.09, and it is stated Re-Partition failed.
EDIT2 : Tried multiple files, progress bar not moving at all.

It don't write to NAND. But it still is able to set partition. Have you tried a different pc? Uninstall Kies completely and then again install Samsung usb drivers.

Hi everyone!
I experience a similar problem as the original poster! Yesterday my phone was fine, but then it rebooted and got stuck. Now I can only get in to "Download mode". There it says:
Odin Mode
Product Name: GT-N7000
Custom binary download: No
Current binary: Samsung Official
I've had it running Paranoid Android successfully for months and then this happened! So where do I go from here,,,? I have Odin downloaded, drivers installed, so what should I try to flash and in what order?
I would be thankful for any help - feel a bit handicapped without a phone!

O my problem is i was trying to flash OVERCOME Icarus and following the guide on the overcome site i downloaded the stock v5 file unziped and started the included odin in download mode selected the files as instructed set repartition and pressed start. After couple minutes odin gave me a green PASS and rebooted my phone but it wont turn on soft keys are on but screen is of. If i press the power button the keys turn of. Conecting it to power outlet (original included charger) turn on soft keys after a few secs but no battery icon displayed.
After about 30 mins in this state i tried plugging it to my pc (windows 7x64Ultimate) and windows made the sound that it detected something but i cud not check what hardware it detected and odin did not detect device.
Is this a SOFT-Brick or a HARD-Brick and how can i correct my problem if possible
Edit: ok when i plugg it in windows Device manager shows SAMSUNG Android USB Modem, and SAMSUNG Android composite adb interface. Also if i start kies it tries to connect but after a while gives me a device not responding to resolve this issue reboot the device. Odin still does not detect it
Edit2: Ok tried going tru command prompt adb with adb devices command and it gives me a device conected in recovery mode i guess the is still hope still if some1 can help ill apreciate it

Check to see if the device is actually "Hard" bricked by leaving it plugged into charge for atleast 4 hours via a mains supply (NOT USB).
If above doesn't work you will need to send your Tab To Samsung To Fix it For you or visit this link. "

how you managed it to go into download mode ? btw glad to hear that
download mode
looks like the tab was booting but the screen wasnt turning on i replaced the kernel with one found in post #1 from this treadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14728425#post14728425 and instalation continued still no screen the followed instructions from post#4 of same thread and got screen to turn on but stuck at galaxy tab boot screen, got fed up and im restoring my original rotobackup using heimdall 1.1 frontend the bar at heimdall shows 100% but no other success or failure message been like that for bout 10mins device screen show download bar but i dont see any advance btw im at the phone-yellow triangle-pc download screen
that is cool , simply you are a Worrier
did you unplugged or not yet ?
sooner or later you gonna do
still nothing
damm this tab used odin to flash my roto backup of original rom and nothing normal boot goes past galaxy tab screen into operator(telcel:mexico) animation and then gets stuck in samsung logo.
Recovery mode shows following errore:cant mount /dev/bñock/mmcblk0p2 (invalid Argument)
E:install_aplication_for_customer: cant mount DATA:
Good news looks like a software brik bad news=a really bad software brik any help will b thanked and apreciated
i think you need to flash your firmware " http://www.samfirmware.com/apps/auth/login?why=pw&try=1&wp=1&next=WEBPROTECT-p1000.htm" download it from this link ans flash it with PIT FILE
Finally
Ok Im a very happy tab owner now dont really know what worked but i tried the rom from samfirmware and the same so i retraced my steps got overcome in there again managed to get the sexy voice withoout screen went back to samfirmware at this point the error changet to cant mount dev sdcard or something like that so i went back to my own rotobackup and was back on last error.
I was almost thinking of sending it for repair when (and i dont know why i did) in the factory recovery menu i pressed home on the wipe cache option i got android with sign so i get desperate and press home dunno how many times and sudenly the cache was wiped i did the same on factory reset and after that my tab booted into my operator rotobackup(rooted ofc).
Guess I will stick to froyo for now and thanks for the help
Telcel
I'm anothere desesperated user that tried to update the Galaxy Table P1000L toandroid Gingerbread, but screen is not working anymore, I hate my self for trying doing this, What should I do? I wasn't able to download rotohammer tools as http : // files. deodexed. com/ModADroid-Galaxy-Tablet/Rotohammer/JME/ is not working anymore, help!!!! please!!!!
So... same problem here.... My tab p1000l bricked and then when i finally got the answear the battery got drained... so... if i understand it correctly if it was not a hard brick i can charge already if i plug it for at least 4 hours to charge?

[Q] Kernel Panic

After flashing stock with ODIN using the AIO toolbox my captivate gives a message
"Kernel Panic Upload Mode" with some of the letters covered by these values
"RST_STAT = 0x4
PWIC_IRQ1 = 0xfc
PWIC_IRQ2 = 0x0
PWIC_IRQ3 = 0x1
PWIC_IRQ4 = 0x0
PWIC_STATUS1 = 0x40
PWIC_STATUS2 = 0x2c"
before this my phone started giving weird problems and a bunch of applications kept force closing.
I restarted it and the phone got stuck in the CM7 load screen.
(I had Cyanogen Mod 7 flashed on it)
Any ideas...
Don't Use the AIO Toolbox.
U may need a JIG to get back into download mode (if u can't get there through the regular methods). Once in download mode I would recommend Flashing back to Stock and go from there.
Check my signature link below for some links that will help ya out.

Your not going to like the answer. Flash to stock, with a pit file, AFTER formatting the internal sd. Remove the external sd and Sim before you start.
That happened to me. I just pulled battery and rebooted.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
how exactly do I flash the internal sd with ODIN?
If you want to wipe it clean, you can user Odin one click jf6 it has a "master clear" button plug in while booted and usb debugging turned on.
or you can boot into cwm go to mounts and storage and format sdcard.
Not sure what you're tyring to do...but that's the only thing Odin does to the sdcard.
ok i clicked master clear in the 1-click odin...it fails to do anything
odin just shows master clear and nothing after that(left it on for a while)
im still using the aio toolbox should i use something else?
Also I cannot boot into anything if i turn the phone on it immediately goes into kernel panic
i can only access download mode
Reflash stock, without aio and with external sd and sim removed. After it boots up, take any photos, songs, etc off the internal sd, then format it.
I have been trying to use ODIN to flash to stock but now whenever it gets to the "SetupConnection..." phase it gets stuck. I have downloaded a different ODIN one-click to see if it has any effect but it did not.
Any thoughts or suggestions now? Is my phone bricked?

If Odin can't connect, you may have to reinstall the Samsung drivers.
Make sure you have Odin open before plugging in your phone to the PC in download mode. Also make sure you are on a rear USB port.
Try the attached drivers assuming you are on an I897.

Try using kb2 instead of jf6. Some phones won't boot eclair.
i cant get into download mode so should I make a download mode jig
Yep. Click my signature below. Then go to the links I have there on how to make a jig and/or where to buy one.

[Q] ICS: back to stock?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to go back to gingerbread with Odin or Heimdall?
I'm on SGSICS (4.0.3) ROM, with ICS Semaphore Kernel.
(Don't say -search it on youtube- )
Please make it easy to understand, thanks!
Search on YouTube, xda or google!
Seriously though there is loads of info about this.
Make sure kies is off.
Get Odin. Get pit 512.
Get stock ROM from Samfirmware. One with the three files. Phone, pda, csc..
Now start Odin. Select all four files.to the correct spot. Pit in pit, csc in csc etc. check re-partition
Once selected start phone in download mode. (power button, home button and volume down on my phone)
Connect phone to PC.
When Odin is ready hit start.
Phone should now reboot.
I have found occasionally phone doesn't boot at this point. This is no problem.
Repeat process. This time don't use pit file and make sure repartition is not checked. (use only phone, pda, csc)
This time everything should work.
Also do factory reset here and clear cache.

This guide will walk you through the process of installing a stock ROM on your phone.
Do this at your own risk, I'm not responsible for any bricks.
1. Things you need to read first before attempting anything:
Keep the phone properly connected to the PC!
This guide is only for those with a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 (International version).
Before continuing, make a backup of all your data.
If the phone gets stuck at the boot screen, try doing the procedure again..
2. Download the following files
A Stock ROM/Firmware file.many available here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14273101&postcount=1 (and also more detailed
instructions and videos)
A .pit512 file : from link above also.
The Galaxy S Drivers
These are probably already installed on your PC (if you have Kies installed). But if not, download here.
Windows [32 bit]:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x86.shtml
Windows [64 bit]:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x64.shtml
ODIN v1.3.
This is the program you'll use to put the stock firmware on the phone.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Make sure you have extracted the contents of the Firmware, .PIT and ODIN rar files to a folder.
2. Turn off your phone and boot into the Download Mode (Volume DOWN+Home+Power Button).
3. Start ODIN. Then connect the phone to the computer. ODIN will say 'Added!'.
4. Tick the Repartition option
5. Then, in ODIN, select the following files in .pit, PDA, CSC and PHONE
a) .PIT: s1_odin_20100512.pit
b) PDA: PDA_JS7.tar.md5
c) PHONE: PHONE_JPY.tar.md5
d) CSC: CSC_XEE_JS1.tar.md5
The stock rom you choose will maybe differ from the above( stock ROM (XWJS7 2.2.1)but just make sure that PDA PHONE CSC of your firmware are in the same places .

}
6. Now, click on Start.
7. When it's done, the progress bar in the top left will say PASS, and the phone will reboot. You can now disconnect the phone from the computer.
NOTE: If something goes wrong, your phone might show the following image:
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Jv7eyrf0N...px-Samsung_Galaxy_S_Black_Screen_of_Death.jpg
DON'T PANIC! This happens sometimes if there is a USB connection error.
Disconnect the phone from the PC, close ODIN, remove battery for 5 minutes, reinsert it, turn phone on in Download mode again, and do the procedure again from Step 2.
That's it. You are now on stock ROM
guide originaly posted by addicted2088 in the Darky rom so thanks to him
even better
Thank you, this is even better.
Do you know if i'll keep the ClockWork Recovery? :S
You could download a pre rooted "stock" rom to keep cwm.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S1 I9000 Stuck At Galaxy S Boot Screen Can't Get Into Recovery?

Hey,
I tried flashing a new kernal via Odin but my laptop switched off halfway through and now when I switch on my Galaxy S1 (i9000) it get's stuck at the Galaxy S GT-I9000 Samsung screen . I can't get it into recovery although I can access download mode and it is recognized in Odin. I think it should just be as simple as reflashing the PDA, MODEM and CSC file through Odin although If anyone can help me acquire these stock files or by using any other methods to restore my phone back to normal It'll be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Ainaa

you can get from My Android Collections and or a solution from My Android Solutions or use a rescue kit
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT.SD card, press power button for a minute, than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card, after flashing and reboot , insert them back
Tips before Flashing:-
Backup all your important files, contacts, SMS, game data, images etc to PC or Ext SD card. or make Nanadroid Backup If you have CWM
Backup your EFS Folder to PC or Ext SD card
Enable USB Debugging on Phone. Touch menu> Settings> Applications> Development>
Charge your battery to more than 50% before you attempt any sort of flashing.
Disable Samsung KIES when using Odin. Kill Kies.exe, KiesTrayAgent.exe, & KiesPDLR.exe using Task Manager on PC
Use only ROM and solution for your model and Wipe x3
Thanks for all the help guys but still no luck .
I've tried what you've said xsenman by using the ezboot recovery tool although its still not booting up. It gets to this screen and then stops;

Just go into download mode and flash the ROM again for your Model , all ROMS, are available in My Android Collections
I've flashed the EZboot recovery and then I installed the CFRoot rom although it still keeps getting stuck at the start screen. During the Odin flashing part it says it's passed with no failures but it still won't start.

Mostly if I go back 2 stock it takes Max 20 min. When it pass it should reboot from itself
It still isn't working Donovan, thanks for all your help so far though, any more suggestions?
Does it pass in odin? Does it reboot after pass, does it install something after Samsung logo? Or does it reboots and hangs in Samsung logo right away?
It passes in Odin and then it just hangs at the first boot screen like the picture on page 1. I still can't get into recovery and for some reason to get into download mode I press the down volume key and the side sleep button without having to press the OK button.

Wrong was not doing the new debugging method since I did the update to mk7

I have forced my gear into this mode issue before, no worries you can restore your gear.
Reboot your gear, Once it is on the " ( firmware upgrade encounter an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again }"
connect it to your computer, the open odin and reflash your mk7 firmware.
This will get you back to stock firmware.
Note: Info was available here in my Tutorial.
(Note 2: Null_ roms are not flashed using odin)

If anyone can help - I am totally new to rooting, and my Galaxy Gear is bricked. It won't boot past the "Samsung Galaxy Gear" logo - and It says "No OS Installed in recover mode. I can boot into Recovery, and Download.
Please assist me into installing an OS.
I had tried installing the custom ROM I tried before (but wanted to remove because it wasn't allowing data connections on the gear) but i need to allow USB debug - but Obviously I cannot access this.
Please help if anyone can!
Thanks in advance!

Just flash stock rom via odin
Garbled Screen When trying to get into recovery mode.
I've update my Gear to Tizen then tried to get back to stock state to install null_
I've followed this instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2776157
Did not work (process completed but unbootable).
Then tried installing TRWP
http://liliputing.com/2013/11/twrp-custom-recovery-samsung-galaxy-gear-smartwatch.html
Not I have it unbootable. ( it's stuck at Samsung logo, like the one from stock V1 android firmware )
When I tried to get into recovery I get a garbled screen like the one attached. Unresponsive device.
Ideas?

are you stuck in the firmware encountered an error message ? If yes, does Odin still identify your watch when you plug it in ?? I ended up with the firmware error screen when attempting to upgrade to Tizen without following the correct order of items to flash.
If Odin can read your watch, you can probably reset the watch. If you plug it in, and Odin does not show it as active - try another usb slot on your computer.
I had to "start" Odin three times before it finally started to flash my watch again.

@bill_in_mtl: OK. I'll try this out when I get home from work. Thanks for this in advance. =)
I faced that too. Then odin could not recognise the gear. So only way was to restart laptop and change USB port. Then flash NE9. Then flash OA2.
However after that you might face gear manager connect issues.
