Panoramic photos?

I know you can take panoramic photo's with the camera on the phone by taking multiple photos..
But is there an app like on the Taylor swift commercial that you just sweep the camera around the room?
Not that I have seen, but why? That feature works perfectly in the camera, you don't really need an app for this.
I'm pretty sure its basically the same thing. The Samsung camera software just gives you a green box to follow and makes a camera sound when you reach it... you're still sweeping from left to right in real time.
Any way to get higher res panorama with the stock camera? The panorama is 640x480 photos stitched together.

The phone does this with the built in app. You can move the phone in a sweeping motion and it will take 8 sequential shots. This can be done in either landscape or portrait mode.
When sweeping the camera a green outline will appear in the area of the next shot to help you properly align the photo. When the outlined area is centered on the screen then the phone automatically captures the next image...wash, rinse, repeat.
I have been using this feature a lot lately since the pictures are gorgeous and it is awesome for group photos. A fun thing I like to do is have someone move along to the next shot and pose so you get a strange clone effect of one person throughout the scene.

Have you tried the action shooting mode? Does a very similar thing.
I too would like to see an app that used higher res images (640x480 really does not cut it)
I would also like to see something that could take 360 degree photos, not just moving the camera left to right but also up and down.
Well that's just the sensor setting, the final resolution will be much greater than that in one direction. Holding the phone vertically will give a nice photo. But I would like a 1080 vertical mode for my dual monitor setup and no black lines.

Yeah, but a panorama that's about 550px tall and has fairly obvious seams makes it less of a big falk that the phone stitched out all by itself. Oh well, if you want it nice you really need a camera with a proper mount, anyway, and preferably raw output, and striving on a computer...

[Q] Picture Frame / Link to larger picture

Hello XDA,
I'm back in school come September for my 5th semester of Computer Engineering, what I'm looking for is an app/widget where I can have a small photo of my timetable/schedule and when pressed will open up a larger picture of my timetable to check class locations/times and whatnot.
I've tried a few picture frame widgets but none of them really seem to have the ability to link to a larger picture where more detail can be seen (as the font is rather small and need the larger image to read). I would be happy if I could even create an icon called SCHEDULE that when pressed opens up the picture of my schedule, as long as its not as slow as navigating to my Gallery, selecting the folder in which the picture is stored, and then scrolling to find the picture of my schedule.
Does anyone know of an app or somehow that I can make this happen?
Cheers

Contact profile picture low res??

Hey folks,
Ran into this really strange issue in 2019!! So on my S8, low res profile will be automatically converted to high res once I dragged the photo of the contact down. But in S10, it does not do this. Profile photo is still the low res in the small round circle.
Even I have managed to change the photo to high res, the res does not stick. After a few hours or few reboot, photo would be back to low res.
Any clue how to get back the high res contact profile photo or at least make my selection stick?
Thanks!!
Same here.
My previous phone was a LG G7, before that Oneplus 6T & Oneplus 5. I still have the LG & 6T which I haven't reset to factory as yet. On all my previous phones the contacts that I assigned a picture to would, once synced have a small circular thumbnail when in the contacts list & if I clicked on a particular contact the top half of the screen would be the full res picture.
When I set up my Galaxy S10 all the same contacts would only show up as a small low res circular pic. I thought it was something I did so I edited all my contacts by re-assigning brand new updated high res pics. On the S10 they would initially show up as intended i.e. top half of the screen lovely full res pic, but after a few minutes they all reverted back to the crappy small circular low res pic.
I checked back to my 2 older phones and they had updated all the contact pics and all in lovely full high res.
Is this a quirk with Samsung phones & something I have to live with or is there a hidden setting somewhere that can rectify this annoying problem.
I am surprised at the level of the response here!! Thought everyone had this problem?
I have a Samsung S8 and some contacts have full resolution photos and some not...
Even if I change the photo of the contact to a high resolution one, it works for 1-2 minutes, but then it automatically becomes small again...
Any idea???
Just a quick update on this. After updating to the March 2019 patch, it appears the issue has been resolved. Now if you tap on the small circle profile pic, it will expand and shows the high res pic !
Nope. I am still having this issue with my S10. Any updates/ideas?
It got resolved after an update last year while the S10 was still on Android 9. Now after the update to Android 10 this issue has come back.

Panorama mode needs some improvement

Perhaps I'm doing it wrong, but I just can't get the panorama mode to work properly with the S10+.
I have 2 major gripes with it:
The panorama doesn't go all the way around, so I don't get a full 360 degree panoramic photo
The photos always come out distorted/stretched when viewed elsewhere
With issue one, it only seems to take about 350 degrees, so I end up with a stitch that doesn't quite work out when I view the photo later. Apps like Google Photos helpfully turn these types of images into something similar to being there and rotating on the spot but because the phone doesn't seem to take a full photo this doesn't work properly.
On issue two, when viewing the photos in Google Photos or even Facebook, they try to make these images into a photosphere type image, so 360 degrees along the X and Y axis. The trouble is, even though these photos are taken with the wide angle camera, it stretches the image upwards and distorts it to get that 360 view. LG wide angle cameras (at least on the G6 which is the last one I owned) add about 10 degrees to the top and the bottom of a pano photo using AI to match the colours at the top and bottom (e.g. extra blue at the top for sky). This results in a blurry patch at the top and bottom of the photosphere, but also prevents the main part of the image being distorted.
Its a shame about both of these "features" as otherwise I'm pretty happy with the camera, but having distorted panoramas is not great.

Monochrome combined with depth feature

I'm considering buying the Nokia 9 and I am wondering if the camera can use the depth changing feature (bokeh) when taking monochrome pictures. I really enjoyed the monochrome camera on my old Huawei P10, and adding bokeh on black and white photos would be nice.
I know it's an old post, but for the ones wondering, there is no Depht setting for monochrome picture. Also, the picture is taken with one of the side B/W sensor, but the screen show what the centered sensor see. So in the end the photo is not centered as seen on screen when the photo was taken.
The thing is ... if the Nokia 9 PureView when shooting in black and white, it does so only using hardware, this is its three monochrome lenses (as it was said that Huawei Mate 10 Pro) or on the contrary (as it seems be that it does) uses the 5 lenses, the 3 monochromes and the two RGB and then desatura with software filter the image ...
If the case, it is confirmed that it is the latter, without problem in the depth map, in fact it seems better option to shoot the Pro mode (capture in RAW) and then in the edition from Adobe Lighroom desaturate the image, without being deceived, since "purely" by hardware, it seems "not to carry it out" in the same way that when the camera captures in color, the five lenses are always used together
it uses the 3 monochrome sensors.. I don't know who tells the opposite... the preview before you shot is from center rgb sensor desaturated.. but if you cover the 3 monochrome sensors and shot.. innthe start you ll see the image of preview.. but when fusing complete you'll see only a black picture
