Difference between softkeys and notification bar.

What is the difference between the back and menu buttons on the notification bar than those found in softkeys?

The notification bar sometimes disappears- especially with full screen apps.

Softkeys is for when the app uses the full screen and you don't have the notification bar to hit "back" on..

Disable hardware keys and use nav bar

After enabling the nav bar I was wondering how to disable the hardware keys, hashing out in the generic.kl doesn't seem to have an effect.

Nav bar question

I have noticed some apps the nav bar disappears amd I have a full screen viewing experience. Others do not. Is there any way to force other apps to run with a hidden nav bar without rooting?

Yes it does indeed hide the nav bar on the programs you want it to but it has many undesired side effects. Mainly, not being able to call up the keyboard when needed after clicking a text entry point. You have to swipe up to expose the Nav bar and then it will show. Also, some games won't even launch unless you first swipe up the nav bar to launch game. Also if you are using a custom launcher, and you use a dock with a folder editor program, the shortcuts will not appear until you swipe up the nav bar. Some programs like Pandora and Maps do not display correctly and will be distorted until you expose the Nav bar. I have had the Pro version for months and the developer has not offered any update to it at all, so buyer beware. Cheap enough not to be to upset but it's not a perfect solution.

[Tab S2] How to prevent burn-in? (hide Statusbar)

Hello
I've got a rooted SM-T715 and I'm trying to find a solution how to either change the colour of the statusbar or completely hide it because I've had screen burn-in on all my AMOLED devices so far (Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note 1, Galaxy Note 2) and the place where it shows the most is always the statusbar. Since the statusbar is often black it doesn't wear as much as the rest of the screen and after a year or so that area will be brighter than the rest of the screen and is visible when you use it in landscape mode.

Use a 3rd party launcher that allows you to hide the status bar.

Thanks, but I believe that will only hide the status bar while on the "desktop". Once you start up an app like Facebook for instance the black status bar will be there again.

Since the display is 16:10, you are unlikely to notice any screen burn in as most videos will letterbox at the top. Most of the time that status bar is always visible in all apps, and the ones that hide it are usually videos which mostly are 16:9.

I have two apps that can hide the status bar. Nova launcher only hides the status bar on the home screen as you said but GMD Gesture Control has an auto hide action which works on all screens. I use GMD for immersion mode plus many other gestures plus launcher pop-ups which also work no matter which app is displaying.

Thank you Sammy... this was EXACTLY what I was looking for!!
I purchased GMD Gesture Control and now with a simple gesture inside any app I can toggle the statusbar on/off.
Thanks again Sammy... you made my day! :good:
