[Q] Working LG Thrill ROMs - LG Thrill 4G

I have an AT&T (US) phone - rooted, with CM7 for LG Optimus 3D (P920 instead of P925) running on it - apparently the LG Thrill CM7 ROM doesn't work if you'd previously upgraded to AT&T's official Gingerbread ROM.
Now, the CM7 ROM for P920 has a major echo issue - I cannot talk on conference calls at all without an echo. Also, mute doesn't seem to work.
I'd like to go to a better ROM, or even to stock - but I didn't make a backup (yes, really really stupid of me). I've tried the stock Gingerbread ROM on AcidHazard's site (provided to go back to stock) - that seems to work, but most text is missing - font problem maybe, but I don't know how to fix it.
I've tried the Biohazard ROM itself, and it never booted.
Apparently CM10 milestone/nightly for the Optimus should work on my LG Thrill, but before I do so - has anyone tried this? With what results? Alternately, any other ROM I can try?
I've not been able to upgrade to ICS using the LG support tool - hangs at 4% and all workarounds listed on the internet don't work for me. I do have the official kdz file - backed it up when the LG tool downloaded it - but the LG flash tool isn't able to detect my phone.
I know - this question is asked lots, and I feel stupid asking it - but I've tried most everything that google search threw up, without success. I still have clockworkmod recovery installed, so I can copy ROMs to my sdcard and flash them. Suggestions, please?!

For v28B ICS with root and custom recovery

Just don't install the custom ROM and you will have v28B.

The first line in that guide says I need to be on ICS already - I am on gingerbread (or am I misunderstanding something?).

That line is there so people don't skip from GB to installing the custom ROM in recovery (that would give you a brick). The guide tells how update to ICS first.

I'll try out those steps, though the virus check disabling sets off too many alarm bells.
Before I do that really long procedure though, any other ROMs that people have good experience with?

I mainly put that because Defender was deleting the driver file without my knowledge and it was corrupting LG Flash Tool for some people.

Question: the kdz tool says phone not found. Is that the same issue the webserver and 127.0.0.1 address, or am I looking at some other issue before the HTTP issue?

[Q] tun.ko for LG Optimus 2x`?

Anyone who has or know if tun.ko has been ported to work on the LG 2x yet?. Its because I need the tun.ko drivers to activate a VPN connection and the 4 standards provided off the shelf is not supported .
The only way I can connect is via an app from market, but said app requires the presence of tunn.ko to work.
MoDaCo has a kernel with tun included.
I would prefer it not being a custom kernel etc . Im not really that much into flashing new roms and such until at least I have seen Gingerbread on the 2x.
So at present I am hoping for a solutuon that only requires me to push it to the phone and not flash a new rom.

Then either get it from the kernel image or ask Paul nicely to help you out.
Does this paul have name on this board.
You must be new here.
It's paulobrien. His 2X forum is at http://2x.modaco.com.
I just joined a few months ago, so no im not venerable yet . But does this paulk frequent these boards as well?.
The reason I ask is that I find it a bit excessive to register at yet another board for the mere reason of needing to contact him and enquire about that tun.ko file
Alright, let me put it this way; You wouldn't regret taking a minute to sign up for modaco.com, because his custom ROM's and kitchens tend to be for members there only. The MCR (MoDaCo Custom ROM) kitchens are famous for their easy way of choosing what you want to include and not in the ROM.
He's frequently here and on Twitter as paulobrien.
Yea I sent him a PM already on here . But for all the goodness of custom roms I have never really ventured into that realm and tried one. I meant to do it when I had my Desire and started to realise I might get Gingerbread for it. But then HTC says they would give it gingerbread so I stalled even more
And now I have the LG as well, and for what it is worth I am generally content in a a large extend with having a stock rom, albeit with some of the provided apps removed and a few tweeks and addons here and there, without going all the way.
But time will tell with the LG
It's definitely a good phone, and hopefully it will get even better. Let's cross our fingers for Android 2.3 or 2.4(?) soon.
In the meantime I can tell you that flashing custom ROM's is very easy. It's close to impossible to screw up the O2X because we have nvflash working and can overwrite all partitions easily. Nvflash is Nvidia's own tool for writing to the ROM. Paul has a guide for how to flash the latest stock ROM in the dev section here. Just beware that using nvflash will in most cases format (delete) everything including your external sdcard, but you can of course remove it first.
Better yet is to install the custom (ClockWorkMod) recovery, backup and flash a ROM from there, because then you don't have to reinstall apps+data. All data+sdcards will be intact, but system settings and any manually added apps in /system/app will be lost though.
If you decide to give it a go we are all friendly and helpful people, just do a little bit of homework yourself.
I had rooted and security offed my Desire which I have have now passed on .
My LG 2x is also equally rooted, I got CWM on it and flashed radio drivers . So I have already did some manner of mocking about with it . But is NVflash a "required" item on our phones. Because I considered installing it, but didn't thnk I really had a need for it at first.
But sadly rooting and doing such to your phone also means OTA software downloads are not possible as the phone is not detected as being the original phone anymore :/

NVFlash poses as a "last resort" if you brick your phone beyond the ability to make an adb connection. As far as I understand it, it hooks in far earlier and thus enables you to flash system partitions.
If you don't brick your phone, you probably won't need nvflash, but its a safety net to revert the phone to a stock ROM if you screw up.
Still no dice, I sent Paul a PM some days ago and not a word back :/
So is there anyone else that might be able to help, since I will assume I can't just "reuse" the version I got for my Desire

LG Thrill (P925, O3D) rom flash issue

Hi! Myself is located in Norway. I bought this device from the USA, and it goes under the name of lg thrill.. (lg p925, optimus 3d). This phone is released by at&t, and heavy at&t bloated. I have read about lots of others sucessfully installing various roms on this device (though their device is called lg p920). I have sucessfully rooted this phone. Moving on trying to install another rom, Rom manager does not recognice my device, and only shows me Optimus V as an option to flash clockwork recoverymod. So now im at clockworkmod 3.2.0.1, and flashing new/other roms does not work. And in recovery mode, no option to flash is there; install rom from sdcard..ect,,, is missing. I guess this is cause the software(clockworkmod) does not recognice, and therefore does not support my device? I would love to hear some opinions on this! I will gladly provide any info about my lg optimus thrill(aka 3D, p925) Thanks alot for any answer!
Best Regards, Robert.
I don't think that there is any mod or rom for the 925 just us yet. I would advice to wait a little bit.
Lg thrill has different radio hardware from optimus 3d so doubt that o3d roms or recoveries will work with it completely correctly.

I have the same problems like you. So how to fix it?
Hi,After successfully rooting the my LG-P925 device with SuperClickOne application i tried to load a charDriver module, but when i did it using insmod the mobile is getting restarted. As posted in one of the android forums i just copied the module to /system/lib/modules directory and restarted it.Thats it! my mobile never came up again,it is continuously rebooting itself.Even after factory setting also it didn't came up.As posted in forums to boot from sdcard, but it doesn't have any flash from sdcard option...Please help me out.
Waiting for reply....
The phone seems to automatically load all .ko's in /system/lib/modules, though I haven't found the script that does so. Surprising that a factory reset doesn't help. Sorry I'm no help on the bootloop, but if you manage to fix it, do move your .ko to some other directory.

[Q] Help trying to get my phone back and running

Hi guys I recently bought my first android phone (wind's lg optimus x2) 3 days ago and decided to try and updated it to gingerbread, as it was set on froyo when I purchased it. So after long hours of contacting lg, wind and checking a butt-load of forum threads to try and get the new update; I ended it up not having gingerbread, but instead I got a nice little brick. I tried flashing the stock wind rom using the KDZ method and my phone ended up getting stuck on S/W upgrade.
Anyways short brief history aside I ended up doing the clockwork recovery and now I have no idea on what I'm suppose to be doing to get my phone back and running on any custom, or stock rom.
Any help would be extremely appreciated and I'm thankful to anyone who helps me out with this issue, since I really need a phone at the moment
Did you make a backup in clockwork? Can you still get into clockwork? If the phone wont boot then you'll need a little microusb adaptor to put the card on your computer. From there, download Cyanogenmod 7, its GB 2.3.7 at the moment, and faster than the stock rom.
From clockworkmod
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Install zip from SD card - SDcard - navigate to downloaded cm7.zip file.

The Optimus 2x Wind is to my knowledge a P999, not a P990. Go to this forum to find compatible roms.
EDIT: Start here to flash a proper ClockworkMod.
So can I just NV flash any rom to my device that is compatible with wind? And if so can I use tmobiles stock gingerbread on it?
Ok Guys I decided to flash my wind phone to t mobile stock gingerbread and its working now So thanks for the replys guys

[Q] Failed Stock instalation - HELP

Hello guys.
Before I go into it, let me start by saying I'm a complete noob at these things.
A couple of months ago (following guide on the net), I rooted my Optimus P990 and installed my first custom ROM.
Tonight I looked on the net to look at how to restore my device to stock.
I followed this guide.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327599
It didn't work!!!!
Although the phone is still working, I have completely lost internet connection on network and wireless.
I'm worried about trying anything else in case I mess my phone up!!
Can anyone out there help me restore back to stock in noob dialogue??
Thanks in advance
Make a backup of everything.
Then go to recovery and wipe everything!
Perform a fresh install of your current rom + kernel combination.
Boot phone and everything should work now don't forget to restore your backups.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Will try it tomorrow.
Stupid question but what is the kernal?
Every rom comes with stock kernel, which is more or less a sort of 'driver' for your phone. Anyway, you don't really have to know what it is, only what you can do with it.
Custom kernels allow you to overclock your CPU frequency, this will make your phone faster and smoother. For example, stock kernel only allows your CPUto clock at the standard 1.0 Ghz, and custom kernels will let you overclock to 1.5 Ghz.
Custom kernels also allows you to Undervolt your phone. This means that you can turn down the voltages used at each CPU frequency. This will improve battery life. Custom kernels do much more things... But these two are the most important.
Look at my signature for the ETaNa Kernel, and read it for more information.
Ah ok thanks.
Is there a stock ROM that your aware of?
Sorry. When I say stock I mean revert my phone back to how it was when I first got it.

Have you tried restoring it using LG's PC Suite?
No not yet. I'm currently using a custom ROM. Cant remember which one it is.
Would an update via LG's PC Suite overwrite this firmware??
To reach your goal you must flash with nvflash technique, search in dev section thread about this. It will restore a stock phone, erasing recovery and root.
Lg PC suite won't be able to flash over a modified phone.
Ok. Thanks. What's the risk to my phone?

If you want to restore your phone to stock then head over to the MoDaCo site and look for a pinned topic in section on the LG O2X entitled "NVflash stock ROM release."
Following the instructions will restore the stock ROM from March 2011 to your phone.

[Q] KU5900 - Good ROM, original baseband, keep internal SD-CARD

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie here, but I do understand a thing or two in computers, software, devices etc.
I want to tell you my story with the device (for future users experiencing the same problems in the future) and also ask a question in the end.
So...
Yesterday, I received from Ebay a used KU5900 (It was described as LG Optimus Black p970).
I got it with v10r firmware (which is in korean/english and has lots of korean stock apps).
And also, while browsing in the settings area I discovered that this model has an extra of ~ 6 GB "internal sd-card" (which is not available on the p970).
So, obviously, I wanted to get rid of the stock apps, update to a nice newer ROM, keep the internal sd-card and make myself a kick-ass phone.
I've read probably about 20-30 threads in this forum to understand the process of rooting, flashing, etc.
I rooted it (gingerbreak doesn't work on v10r, neither does unlockroot, so only blackjack worked).
when I upgraded to CM7 (without backuping first), the internal SD card support was gone.
So, sadly, I flashed it again to a stock v10a ROM (for LG P970).
Then, something even worse happened:
The phone didn't connect to networks, the "airplane-mode" got stuck for ages when clicking it, and it seemed that non of the connectivities of the phone worked correctly.
I searched even further and read about the baseband issue... p970 and KU5900 may look alike, and act alike, but their "modems" are different.
So, I downloaded V30J from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868405 and flashed again using smartflash and KDZ converter to fls,bin (it was already 1-2am and I was on a 6 hour run), just to see the phone getting stuck on LG logo and not booting anymore.
Today, I kept reading, and hoped to find a decent ROM (for KU5900 ofcourse, in order to make the baseband and modems work), found this one:
V30i_00 - which is currently still downloading and takes ages...
Meanwhile i had an idea - I had the stock v10a (europe) which did work (boot) but didn't connect (baseband didn't match) and the v30j
(which was for KU5900 but got me stuck on the logo screen), so I flashed again... took the *.bin from v10a (the bin is like the ROM data and program data I guess) and the *.fls from v30j (the fls is containing the baseband data) and whoa! I had an europe version which worked and also connected and everything... also, not much stock apps. The only problem is that this version (probably because it was built for the p970) doesn't recognize the internal SD-card... which is a big waste.
So until here, I managed to get "solo". The only thing left is to ask if anyone knows what is needed to do in order to recognize the SD-card?
Also, is there a version for KU5900 which is all in one? (working when flashing, supports the baseband, supports the SD-card, up-to-date, and not with tons of stock korean apps)?
Hopefully my little experience which I've shared here will help future users of the KU5900 (which is quite poorly documented, in English at least).
Thanks,
Shay

Your problem is rather easy to solve (at least I hope so). First download the v30 ROM you want, then download the manual version of bin extractor (dont take the automated version, since it doesnt work with such big files), then you ll get a lot of 0.....bin, 1....bin files. Rename them to 00 and 01,... then proceed with the process given in the thread. Otherwise the tool will add the files up in a wrong order and thus you get a bootloop. Once your done, just flash it (make a backup before, just to be on the safe side) and you should have official ICS on your KU OH and dont forget to inject cwm of course

Doesnt work with files from KU5900, because they are too big.
here is the thread of the manual version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566532
You need to read the thread, dont remember how to use it, but it was something like lgextracttool.exe -kdz file.kdz
then lgextracttool.exe -wdb file.wbd, but dont really remember, read it in the thread

K. Sorry
Thanks for the quick responses, I appreciate it.
Tried to extract V30J to *.fls,*.bin as you said, worked fine, Phone booted, everything worked as a charm.
Now of-course there's only the issue of the stock apps.
Tried again to extract V30J and patch it (using the same method like the automatic tool just with correct ordering of the [1][2] bins.
The phone booted to LG screen and said "security error".
Is it possible to get to V30J with root (to be able to remove the stock apps)?
Thanks

Use v30i or G, since J has some patches it seems, that keep it from being rooted easily... I think 30I should work

Hi, I've downloaded a 30I version (found it somewhere here), extracted to bin/fls with the manual version and ordered the bin files correctly to create the big bin file. then I injected CWM with the "dd" method and flashed it to the phone using smartflash.
the phone started up to the LG logo and was written "security error".
Any clues?
