Tempered glass screen protectors for the G2 are available... - G2 Accessories

Ships on 10/4 apparently... It looks like it's some kind of glass, maybe not the normal hard tempered glass type, but they claim 8H hardness.

Looks interesting. If you order one, let us know how it is.

YES finally!!

Careful, looks like this protector goes all the way to the edge of the screen. The edges of the G2 are curved, which means a screen protector will not attach properly

Of course you realize that is not a real product photo, right?
I am certain the actual shipping product fits properly.

The one you linked is flexible, so I'm not sure it's real glass. The site also links a more expensive tempered glass option which is thicker which I may pick up.
Only thing that could make it better is if it included the black top and bottom sections to cover the Verizon and lg logos.

How does it feel/look compared to regular screen protectors?

when i got my gs4 it was the first time i ever decided to use a tempered glass screen protector. i bought a mime glass screen protector. now i cant go back to the screen protectors that are flimsy like zaggs. the glass screen protector feels just like you are touching the screen itself and the sensitivity as far as the phone goes, it thinks you are just touching its own glass so you lose none. only way you can tell you got 1 on will be at the top where the cut out for the ear piece will be. they are more expensive but if you want the best i'd recommend getting a glass screen protector. i'm hoping mime picks up the g2. they have the best customer support.

Ah, that's new from the other day... Not sure I like the rounded corners on it, they don't follow the contour of the actual screen. Sort of ghetto...

You do know glass can bend without breaking right? Fiber cables are glass.

just watched a few reviews on iloome glass screen protectors and they were all positive.. nothing negative.. I just installed the crystal hd by spigen which is pretty darn close to perfect.. these are undetectable other than the edges and not 100 percent the feel of glass.. I'd say 85 percent. I'll definitely purchase the glass one next time mostly for teh glass feel.. they are only around 10-15 dollars more.

Just FYI, I looked around some more and I saw a video of the "flex" model and it does "crack" on impact like a full glass one during the impact test. Obviously none of these splinter into shards to cut you, but the flexible one is definitely made of a material that is brittle enough to crack in the familiar spider web pattern of traditional tempered glass.
You can see this here at 7:25:

Recommended Screen Protectors?

I've seen a lot of talk about cases but not much on screen protectors (aside from the tempered glass ones). On my OG Droid I used a Zagg Invisible Shield that worked well but had a bad orange peel look to it. My GF's iPhone has a "Power Support" screen protector on it which is crystal clear and works well.
What is everybody using? Are the tempered glass protectors where it's at now?
I always have used sgp spigen screen protectors, think they are the best ones.

I know it's kind of pricey, but Zagg InvisibleShield Symphony Dry is the best in my opinion! Covers the front and back it's honestly my fav.

I'm currently using the iloome flex glass protectors. It looks great and it is real glass and it's only $16.99, but it is worth it. Looks nice and feels good. Plus its thinner then the Spigen nano glass protector.

Has anyone ever rocked their phone without a screen protector? if so, did you screen get scratched up? Reason I ask is my Diztronic case for my Verizon G2 is great but it pushed up my Verizon screen protector (dry one from the store, which was working great). Am I going to ruin my screen without a screen protector? Does anyone have a Diztronic case and a screen protector that works well with it?
I switched from my Ballistic case to the Tudia Melody, which I love, because the former was causing my Zagg Invisible Shield to pull up. But all my previous phones have been completely naked and never had any problems with scratches.

I've always gone back and forth using them or going naked about 50% of the time. Never scratched a screen till this one... one week into use there was a tiny one dead center. I think it was actually sorta caused by the flip case. Either the metal ring on it out something got sick between the flap and screen.

I ran my DNA completely naked. After a year it ended up having a few very fine scratches on the screen. Nothing horrible, but still there. I really like the feel of the bare glass, but may go back to a screen protector for my G2. I'm just not very good at installing them - maybe a glass one would be better... I don't know.

Looking closely at the edges of the screen protector on the phone, you will notice that the screen has about a 0.5mm radius all the way round it that is not sticking to the phone glass as a result of the glass curvature around all the phone screens edges.
I am having this same issue with my iloome flexible glass protector on my LG G2 as well sadly.
Without an external case that overlaps this edge I CANNOT recommend this glass screen protector as you run the fair risk of slicing yourself (i had to buy a gel case with overlap to mitigate this very real issue) or worse yet having a piece of glass screen protector break off in your skin because the glass screen protector is so thin and the edge is exposed around all the edges of the screen protector...

SNP Tempered Glass Protector

Review on SNP Tempered Glass Protector. I finally received it from Korea and put them on. It took about little over 2 weeks to receive this.
I thought I did good installation on the Tempered glass protector, but all around the edges I had gaps.
I contacted the seller and they told me that this screen protector is not for Verizon model, because of the 1mm curved edges.
I guess the Korean version of the G2 dont have curved edges and I dont know about Atnt or Tmobile models.
They are giving me a full refund for this since they didnt mention that it is not for Verizon models.
But if you have the Korean Version of the phone I really recommend it.
First the costumer service is excellent.
Second, the Tempered glass protector covers close to edge to edge.
And third, the responsiveness and the clarity is excellent.
My fingers were sliding across really easy.
Since the protector is edge to edge you cant use cases like the Diztronic cases or SGP Slim armor, etc.
So you have to use the ones like Poetic Palette or Incipio Feather cases.
I mean I still have them on since the quality of the Tempered glass protector is really good.
Until I find another Tempered glass protector that I want comes out, I think im just going to leave it on.
* Pro
- Close to edge to edge coverage.
- Responsiveness and the clarity is excellent.
- Smooth feeling
* Con
- Not for Verizon LG G2
Here is a link to the product that I have bought.

But yeah...have to wait for another tempered glass protector comes up...was thinking about trying iloome ScreenMate Flex Flexible Glass for G2.
Have anyone tried this?
it looks like there's major bubbles on the edges.
I bought a Clasy korea tempered glass SP and the edges look exactly like yours. No offence, but I just can't take that gap. It does look like tiny bubbles and that forms a "silver lining" on the screen.
I'm having an international D802 and I really don't think any glass SP will fit perfectly on any G2 model. However, I think the normal plastic ones may work though.
Seriously planning to remove it and go naked..

What kind of screen protectors have you used and what kind of case do you have?
Generally it shouldn't be much of a problem for the LG G2 since the screen protectors are usually cut "too small" due to the curved glass near the edges.
I GreatShield anti-glare screen protectors (PET) and they fit perfectly with my Spigen Slim Armor case.

Don't have a link because I'm too lazy to find it but honestly, it should be the same no matter which protector you buy. At this point I don't know of any brand that makes a protector for the G2 that goes to the edges of the screen.

Get the Skinomi TechSkin, edge-toedge, wet apply and its great, i have it with the full body carbon fiber skin also.
Obliq Pure Crystal + Diztronic TPU case, very tight tolerances. Took me three times to get it put down right, each time was just a hair off, but enough that squeezing the case on the side popped up the edge of the protector.
Even my third try wasn't perfect, it was still popping up a little in one place, but this morning it has gone away. I'll keep an eye on it, I figured I was going to be trying it once more today.
Otherwise, it was an easy placement, looked even on sides, just a hair off. But that's all it takes
On my Galaxy Nexus, was told by Ghost Amour to just trim the edges a bit and that solved the case problem for me. I think you could use any protector if you did this.

yes just make sure you make them close to center perfect as possible; I'm using the matte ones; they give you two matte and two clear; dont matter what brand; I even spent $13 on the SPG clear HD one; and it still feels sticky like a zagg ; IMO matte is the only way to go; but there is a Lil pixelation; cause of the matte; but its a fare trade off;
p.s. dont forget to place screen protector about about 1mm below the VZW logo ; like the top edge of the protector should be at the i of the Verizon logo

Tempered Glass Screen Protectors

As with any phone, this is a pretty hot topic and I expect no less from this phone.
Please share your experiences with tempered glass screen protectors in this thread so they do not clutter the forum.
Coming from the Nexus 6, tempered glass screen protectors were a nightmare . the curved screen made them have a halo effect and caused proximity sensor issues. I'm hoping this phone is not going to be the same.
Personally I just ordered the Spigen glass.tr slim for my phone.. It can be found for 9.99 + free shipping on amazon currently. I will be reporting back with my review once I receive it and my phone.
I've had bad luck with the tempered glass protectors. On both my Nexus 5 and my Nikon DSLR, I've had the tempered glass break - no damage to the screens themselves, just broken screen protectors. No thanks.
I'd say they did their job then ... Seems they protected your phone from breakinh

Yeah, lots of folks like them, I've just had bad luck. One on a DSLR, one on a phone, both from reputable manufacturers, and a couple years apart. Neither lasted two months, and I do baby my gear. Weird.

My laid my spigen on top of my Cruzerlite bugdroid case to get an idea of coverage and it appears as though the screen protector goes edge to edge..leaving just barely enough room for a lip on a case

and it is full screen coverage, the ones that don't usually provide full coverage are the glass screen protectors

It look like the same thing and same price. Any chance of some close up pictures of the finish on the sides and corners please? How you like it so far, transparency, texture, fingerprint,..... any negatives? Your feedback will be most appreciated, thank you.
I have had that product on earlier phones, and to be honest, it has a funny texture to it, and it is nowhere near as good as a tempered glass screen protector. After going to glass , there is no going back to plastic on screen protectors. I have the pleson tempered glass protector for my OP 3 and it is great. Get that one, you won't regret it at all.

Couldn't agree more. "Funny texture" is really a nice way to describe the rubber feeling of the protector. With my personal experience I would say it's rubbish and not worth the money ... not worth any money ... only my personal opinion.

I love glass too, have used it on several phones now and there is no beating the glass protectors except for the stock unprotected screen. There were numerous let downs on the OP3 version of the tempered glass protectors, mainly due to OP3's slightly curved 2.5D edge, its near impossible to get full coverage without some kind of compromise.
How funny is the texture? Is it like clingfilm; transparent and flexible but not smooth glide like glass?

Yes I did, I don't like those kinds, it makes it kinda cloudy, but it did provide full coverage, also I ended getting a piece of hair or something small, so I just got a glass screen protector instead

The pleson tempered glass doesn't go to the extreme edge of the glass, but I have no issues with it, and combined with a good protective case you won't notice at all. better to be protected instead of worrying too much about aesthetics
