GPS not working - Samsung Focus S

Sorry, but I refuse to give this phone up yet as I love the size, weight, etc.
I unlocked this phone awhile back and through the software upgrades, the GPS stopped working (works maybe 2% of time)
Any idea's if I can reflash the ROM, drivers, firmware, etc. to try to get this GPS alive again?
AT&T
Windows 7.8
OS Version 7.10.8862.144
FW V: 2103.11.10.1
HS V: 25.1.0.8
Radio S Version: 2103.11.10.1
Radio H Version: 0.0.0.0
Bootloader 5.10.2.0
Chip SOC 0.74.2.1
Thanks.

I have had a couple of GPS issues, ususally when it get hot on my dash board or with dodgy weather normally a reboot fixes it. Its possible that you've accidently buggered up the GPS settings, a hard reset will fix that.
As for a flashable ROM or newer firmware that fixes things? there is 2103.12.5.2 firmware that should get downloaded automagically via zune but other than that (which did bugger all cept fix some audio clicking and keyboard lag issues) it does nothing else, be warned though, that is the firmware that will stop interop from being enabled via the old way, you will need to use heathcliffs newer method after installing it
there is no flashable ROM either.

Thx Dazza
A big thanks Dazza. You've been a tremendous help directly to me. I'd love to do a reset, but the most important part of the process is remembering what to do when as far as backups, unlocking etc. I have the "Internet Sharing" feature unlocked and I don't want to mess that up. Always the question of reward vs. risk.

Bluetooth Refuses to Turn On. HELP!

Ahoy XDA!
So for some reason every time I try turning on Bluetooth, I click the checkbox to activate, it hangs for about 10 seconds, then just turns off. I am unable to get bluetooth to turn on. Any suggestions or ideas as to what might be going on? I don't know how to access the logs to check any output so if anyone can help out with that I might be able to fill you in with more info.
Thanks so much for the help!

Not sure if it's helpful, but a similar thing happened to me when I accidentally tried to root a stock rom with the wrong version of superboot. I used superboot for ERE27 after I'd updated my phone to ERE36b, if I recall.
I just reflashed the proper superboot and was good to go.
Now I'm on CM5.0.5.3, though, and that was a while ago, so...
Just a quick FYI.
Im running CM 5.0.53 with the latest radio. It still just refuses to turn on. I even did a stock restore from a nandroid backup (found on this forum) and then re-upgraded to the latest CM.
This is so frustrating, I hate having to carry my USB cable everywhere just to transfer a single file now and then.
Thanks for any help that you guys can provide. I know there is a way to check log outputs, any info on how to do that which could lead to the discovery of my issue?
Thanks,
-pixl
a logcat would be useful!!

aha... adb logcat
/me smacks head... working on it now.
So here is what my logcat reports when trying to activate bt:
V/BluetoothEventRedirector( 160): Received android.bluetooth.adapter.action.STATE_CHANGED
D/NetworkLocationProvider( 82): onCellLocationChanged [19696,27182127]
D/NetworkLocationProvider( 82): onCellLocationChanged [19696,27183656]
E/bluedroid( 82): bt_enable: Timeout waiting for HCI device to come up
V/BluetoothEventRedirector( 160): Received android.bluetooth.adapter.action.STATE_CHANGED
Any help on this would be fantastic... at least a direction to go... I just used a fresh nandroid backup and restored to factory. But i'm guessing that doesnt touch the radio.
So here is where I'm at:
Firmware Version: 2.1
Baseband: 32.19.00.16U_202.02.14
Kernel: 2.6.29-gad36b87 ([email protected] #1)
Build: ERD79
The bluetooth has definitely worked before so i don't think it's a hardware issue. This is just really frustrating and I feel like I don't have many options.
Thanks!
-pixlgeek
Does anyone have a link to the stock kernel. I think this all may have started when I tried flashing a zimage a long time ago. I'm thinking if I flash a stock kernel or stock radio image that may do the trick.
Anyone...?
Update:
Tried updating the radio, reflashed with enom's latest, even updated the kernels. Still no go.
This is so frustrating...
or... perhaps there is a module that is missing that I can push. Is there a bluetooth module located somewhere that someone can post up?
Almost sounds like hardware

How do you have a 202.02 radio version? And your build number "ERD79" is out of date. Latest should be EPE54B.
Flash latest radio (4.04.00.03), flash CM5.0.6, and if you still have a problem it is certainly a hardware issue.
Ok. Managed to install the latest CM. Now it looks like I'm running,
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2
Kernel Version: 2.6.33.2-cyanogenmod
Mod Version: CM-5.0.6-N1
Build Number: EPE54B
I cant seem to find the update to EPE76 but either way, my Bluetooth will still not enable. logcat prints the same errors as before. This is weird because it has worked before, only briefly. Would it make sense to just fail like that?
Thanks,
-pixlgeek
Don't worry, you have all the latest versions of everything now. And since it is still not working, I think it's time to phone in to HTC. It is a possibility that you had a faulty chip that worked for a little bit but overloaded and is now fried. Cause I have Bluetooth working on my phone and my About screen looks exactly like yours.

From nodo to mango update , how to ?

Dones anyone has step by step tutorial how to update omnia 7 from nodo to beta2 mango ? thx in advance
I'm intersted as well what to do exactly.
This is what i did,
1. Flash you phone with Samsung Omnia 7 Firmware XXJL3 RETAIL UNITED KINGDOM. you should have v7004 installed.
2. Plug phone in to PC and check for updates with Zune, it should say that the Feb update is available, install this update. (if you have problems installing this, make sure your USB cable is connected to a USB port that is physically on the motherboard and try again)
3. Check for updates again, this should say that the NODO update is available, install this update.
4. Follow the instruction on THIS site to get the mango updates.
NOTE: When i tried this with the KC1 firmware, my phone would get stuck in a reboot loop when going through the instructions in step 4, i had no problems with JL3 firmware.
Anyone had any problems with Mango yet? Crashing, laggy, etc?
I'm curious, do most apps work with Mango? Or will they all disappear/fail to open once I update. Also, does this process/"restore.bat" delete data ie. game saves?
I'm interested in updating to Mango, but not at the cost of lost apps/saves either during the update or restore.
I have no crashes at all with mango, the OS is a a lot more responsive overall.
I have only brought one app on my Omnia, all i needed to do was go in to the marketplace and redownload and install it again.
Thanks for the instructions Duck!
I followed them to a 'T' (minus the firmware updates, my phone was bought unlocked and unbranded) and it worked great! All my game saves, apps, etc. were there and Mango runs smooth as silk!
The only downside (and the link mentioned this) was that Zune does not sync with my phone anymore. It requires and 'update' and once you try and get that update Zune errors ('Cannot find update file: blah blah'). So it looks like this currently Mango build prevents Zune syncing (although wifi might still work, I'll have to test it).
Download the Beta version of Zune HERE.
Awesome, that worked great! Where do you find this stuff?! Hah, thanks again.
I always get the timeout when it is restarting for the first time.

Available space: 2.49 GB of 7.39 - I deleted the music as someone in another thread suggested but no help.
Edit: Suspending the process and deleting the unneeded files worked for me.
does anyone know if you lose the Live Services activation key after the a Mango Update? thanks in advance

Can you explain wait you did, please?
I'm stuck on "Restarting your phone...".
The phone reboots, waits on backup/download mode (bw image of phone linked to PC) and nothing else happens till .cmd gives a time out.

GPS fixes once then stops

Hy, i have a problem with my Lg Optimus 2x GPS.
With any GPS software, the GPS is fixing only once in a few seconds to 6-10 satelites then stops. The gps sign that appears near signal disappears also.
Normally the gps sign flashes when searching for signal then stays on when is functional
If i want to use the gps i have to restart the phone. And GPS works great but only for one or two times.
Anybody else is having this problem ?
It's working just fine here with the ROM/kernel in my sig.
What ROM are you using? Were you having trouble before using that ROM? (I'm just trying to figure out if it might be software related or not, it normally is).
The problem appeared when i upgraded the OS to 2.3.4. (original from LG)
I don't have custom Rom.
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Compilation NR: GRJ22
Version : V20c
In my opinion you can try one of three different things:
You can try a factory reset, after backing up your apps (although I believe you need to have root access to backup your apps).
You can try downgrading to an older ROM again.
You can try flashing a decent (aka custom) ROM.
Installed cyanogen, Works great

[Q] Mobile network crisis after flash

So, I'm having some issues regarding my recently flashed XSP C5302.
Model: C5302
Android Version: 4.3
Baseband version: 8960A-AAAAATAZQ-40031007-18
Build number: 12.1.A.1.201
I'm on locked BL.
Thing is, I flashed it as soon as I got my hands on it due to that annoying flickering screen, tried to downgrade it to 4.2.1. It was the first time I did that, so I went through many tuts to get it right.
At first I flashed a .254 rom, and when I entered the About screen, model had switched to C5303. What I did was follow DoomLord's guide to root it, instal CWR and flashed a deodexed .254 rom for C5302(this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423625). Everything back to normal.
But then I noticed my mobile data wasn't working, so I thought it may have been fault of the deodexed rom. Sooo, I upgraded it AGAIN to 4.3 using PC Companion, just to find out that the mobile issue was not having the APN correctly configured. Sigh.
And well, I'm now stuck again on 4.3, but at least my mobile data package is working. However, it's extremely slow. I mean, I can see the H and H+ icon, but even on H+ it takes ages to send messages and connect. At first I wondered if the baseband had anything to do with it, but when I flashed the rom I checked everything but Kernel and System, so...
So my question is, is it possible that I did something that "damaged" my mobile data connectivity? If so, could somebody please suggest any solution? I must say, my service provider sucks, so it could be their problem too, and I'm just here crying over spilled milk with no reason at all.
Thanks in advance!
Probably your service provider - I must have tried 100's of custom roms and whilst some have meant that data didn't work, this was caused by buggy software, never damage to the phone.

Turbo WiFi not working

When I rooted my Droid Turbo the wifi stopped working.
I try to turn the WiFi on and it immediately goes back off.
How do I get it running again?
XT1254
It is running version 5.1 with 23.21.44.quark_verizon.verizon.en.US vzw
Build number SU4TL-44
I have flashed the 44 again with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
LD
Try re-flashing the radio for .44.
You can even try flashing the .49 radio.
There's both ADB and TWRP-flashable versions here:
[Droid Turbo XT1254] Bootloader & Radio Packages (+Unlocked warning removal)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/development/droid-turbo-xt1254-bootloader-radio-t3259327
Still no worky
Thanks,
I re-flashed and still no worky.
Any other suggestions?

Maybe flash the full .49 (Lollipop) firmware, maybe flash the 6.0.1 OTA update? Since your bootloader is unlocked you are safe. We have those here available in this forum. Here's the 6.0.1 OTA update:
[OTA] Official Marshmallow build MCG24.251-5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/dro...ota-official-marshmallow-build-mcg24-t3512813
(Do NOT attempt to install that if you have an encryption turned on.)
If those don't work, then it's something hardware related, I would presume. Just unlocking bootloader and "rooting" shouldn't affect anyone's wi-fi capability.
________
Is there SOMETHING ELSE you have installed that might affect Wi-Fi? Some battery save app would turn off and turn on Wi-Fi at different times? Something xPosed module like Smart Network? Some app or setting that is supposed to recognize a GPS location and do a certain action, like connect/disconnect Bluetooth? (But such apps can also control Wi-Fi.) One such app is Tasker, but there are plenty of others. Some people even have a couple of apps like that doing similar tasks and it's easy to have conflicts or just simple human error.
One time I configured my wife's volume control app to turn to "normal" volume at 8am and go silent at 8:30pm. Unfortunately, I accidentally chose 8:30am. (I swear I didn't, but there it was.) For two days, she had totally silent phone except for 30 minutes! And I'm the tech guy in the family.
