I am in trouble with my new Sony Z1
After reboot i lost my icon for telefon and contacts on the desktop.
In the main app chapter.. the icons are disappeard too .
Whats wrong???
Any ideas or a link to fix it??

Have you rooted it with vroot (doing that my icons are greyed out)?

Getting the same issue. Also my phone doesn't seem to be connecting to the PC although the USb is plugged in. I restarted my phone and the icons got grayed out too.. These are the icons on the bottom of eachhomescreen (the ones for phone, messages etc)
I had this try going into you settings/apps/all and then disable(freeze) the offending app uninstall any updates then enable it again, that's how I got my icons back. Its safe to update afterwards. Hope this helps?

I have the same problem with my new Xperia Z1, uninstalling updates worked for one app but the other two, contacts and phone do not have apps in the list.
Any ideas?

i had to factory reset mine ....
Apart from the restart method that some have tried, you could use a task manager and kill "xperia home". That will force the launcher to reload again and you'll see your icons there. A lot more faster than a reboot .

Hi everyone.. I bought my new Sony Xperia Z and it's still new (unrooted or etc..)
Am facing a problem in it, when I go to Apps menu in the settings.. A message shows up: "Unfortunately, settings has stopped."

If you haven't customized it too much just do a factory restore and start from the beginning again.

Thank you bro, but am trying to find a better way before I do reset.. Because it happened before and I did reset, and now it's happening again! And actually I spent too much time customizing the phone :s.. Is there another way?? Thank you.
Did you update your phone to the latest firmware?

You could always use the backup app that comes with the phone.

It must not happen if u don't have any un-compatible app or .... however u customized it a lot.
anyway try to update it to .434 and then test it.

U have c6602 with .434 , the latest firmware.
Check ur running apps and cache that stored for setting app itself and try to release some memory if necessary.
Or repair ur phone by PC companion.
Ur setting and data will remain however u can backup them.

But still very small issue since at least I can change the wallpaper from the gallery itself.

find the DCIM folder in your sd card. Then find the hidden folder ".thumbnail". delete it. And then delete the gallery app data. Should be works

also not found in app drawer.
i also try other launcher. but dialer wont work.

Did you try to replace your dialer with some other ported one etc? Or flashed some theme?
If in emergency you can install an app like contact plus or any other dialer app from app store.

nothing just root. magically disappear.
Go to settings > Apps > all and look for phone app. And delete data...After this reboot..

That's not the point PCC will restore your dialer but you will lose root in the process so you will need to reroot the device

1.If you are on 4.1.2, go to settings>apps>all apps and see for contacts in the list maybe it is disabled
If you are on 4.3, go to settings>apps>disabled and see there
2. Try clearing data of XperiaHome
3. If you are using xposed modules, maybe you have hidden that app from home
4. Check your system/app directory and see if the apk is present there

If nothing else is working I can't see any other way. Take a titanium backup before you do and it will restore all apps and settings

Nope dont let freeze becouse its system app ad can couse damage ...
root the phone and delete the update app from /system, I've always done this way
this way you will loose also some sony apps updates maybe, but you can still get them here in the forum (even more updated from other phones maybe)
I am with the rooting approach. But in that case you can simply freeze it then.
If you don't like rooting you may try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.weborienteer.utilits.hibernate&hl=en . It can hibernate many system apps.

delete the application from /system/apps
I just updated the system album application on my xperia z and it messed up all the dates... Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix for it?

The pictures are files on your storage and you are the owner; while album is just an app that is used to view these files, the album app does not own the pictures. In fact, even the android OS does not own them. So even if you were to remove the entire album app, or even install a new OS, your images will stay.
Deleting/Resetting the data should be even more trivial and have no impact.

Stop app
Clear data
Remove update.
Go to Sony update, uncheck automatic update and uncheck update via WiFi.
Reboot

Deleting the update didn't work. It looks like the app is still on the latest update.
