[Q] Playstation 2 games on my Z1 - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello folks,
I've recently bought the Sony Xperia Z1 and I'm overloaded with questions, I'm trying to figure out a lot myself, but sometimes I need help A friend told me XDA was the place to be, so here I am.
As the title says, I'm wondering if there is some sort of a PS2 emulotar available, I've had the for gameboy advance etc, but now that I've gotten one of the better phones, I wondered if I could get better games aswell
I've seen people play FFX and GTA 3 and many other games. But couldn't figure out how they did it.
Any hints?
greetings

I'm not aware of any current PS2 emulator, i may be proved wrong. (google playstation emulators for android) you do have FPse for android though.
but for GTA and FFX, look in the play stores for games, you have GTA vice city and GTA.

I'm aware there are paid versions of GTA around, so maybe that was a bad example. But what about FFX? Or is that some kind of stream? I suppose it is..
ANyway, thanks for pointing it out it doesn't exist a shame though.
What are the perks of having your PS3 account sync'd with your Z1 then? I did this via sony entertainment network, but yet have to find the perks of this..
Thanks again,
Greetings

do you have the playstation mobile app? if not maybe you can try this.
http://playstation.com/psm/certified.html
Syncing with Ps3 to Z1 is so that you can connect with your online Ps3 friends, or get updated with some of your online ps3 games (scores, level, etc)... there are a few apps that you can install to do that like MYNBA2k13... etc...

You can't emulate PS2 games in Z1. PS2 is a very complex console and even Snapdragon 800 can't handle it. You remember PCSX2 - A PS2 emulator for PC? It's in development stages for almost 10 years and haven't seen a final release until now. The development team behind PCSX2 claims that, PS2 is a vey complex console to emulate compared to that of PSOne as many have of the hardware features have to be emulated in real time which is currently not stable and that's why. Though being in development for 10 years, PCSX2 doesn't support ALL PS2 games (80% will work) either. From above you can guess for android. In order to emulate PS2 games in android, it needs a far more powerful processor than S800 and gigs of memory which might seem impossible as of now. Even if the hardware in our Smartphones matches PS2 in the near future, writing an emulator though is very much of a hassle and will be full of bugs rendering the emulator useless. Guess the emulator era are over for Android with PSOne, period.

Alright, thanks both for the clarifications. I'll try the app.
Cheers!

Didn't I mention it's true for PS2 alone? The last point I mentioned is for full consoles and not portable ones. I know there's emulators for PSP and DS.

And maybe you can give me a link where I can find some touch screen games on this mobile, and maybe you know what game have best quality game?

I can play playstation one games on my xbox original which has been running linux for about 2 years
Its just a matter of someone creating an iphone "emulator" or stack for use on windows ce devices.
Not 100% impossible, but can't yet

Then there's the issue of the multi-touch capable capacitive screen on the iPhone, vs. the resistive one-tough-at-a-time screen on windows mobile phones. It would very difficult to emulate some of those games on windows mobile w/o the multi-touch, IMHO.

Actually it is 100% impossible, as the Hardware in the Raphel is no where close to the same [required] hardware in the iPhone.
Your "example" is **** too. Your Xbox is no longer an Xbox, it's an underpowered computer. You changed the complete operating system on it.
It would be nice but not possible... yet?

Stating the Xbox is not an xbox is very wrong.
It is still an xbox, but with th bios modified to include 2 bootloaders.
If I put a game in the drive, from boot, holding the power button it launches the game, and believe it or not, plays perfectly. Microsoft use XEX executable files, which are a derivation of c++. The only way to run these titles, sucessfully - I'm not talking about ****ty emulators that can run halo 1 in debug mode, like the only working pc emulator for the xbox original can do, is when the primary bootloader calls the kernel to interpret them on the xbox. If I had an underpowered computer, and not an xbox, this would not work, would it buddy!?! Because I would be using a ****ty Emulator, and the only x86 compatable emulator only plays halo 1 in debug mode at a maximum of 17frames per second.
Your argument makes no sense. My xbox is still an xbox which launches homebrew code to allow linux to run.
I also have a 360 doing exactly the same, but that is far from an underpowered pc when running ubuntu using the king kong exploit Here is that
Thats funny, Does that mean, that according to you, everytime I launch Haret on my raphael to boot android, my raphael becomes something other than a phone, cause im sure i can still call, text and surf on it....
Also - The Raphael does indeed have multitouch - not the screen, no, But the touch sensitive scroll does indeed have multitouch, so mapping an interface around that wouldn't be that difficult
Why not test it yourself
I wasnt stating everything would work, it wouldn't because of the hardware, i'll agree with you there.... but an emulator would allow certain things to run. Everything released for the iphone does not max out system resources on them. Don't you think that would be stupid?
http://www.tuaw.com/2009/08/03/microsoft-how-to-port-iphone-apps-to-windows-mobile/
That's interesting. Does this maybe mean that we will have those games on wm? It would be very nice...

Assassins Creed Xbox live game on WP7 is AMAZING

Guyz... if you have not tried this game, you should. I highly recommend this. After playing this game on my HD7, it made me realize how amazing this WP7 OS is.
It actually gave me jitters. The Soft D-Pad and action controls that comes up on the screen are so sensitive and intuitive, you would not even feel the lack of hardware controls.
And the Graphics rendering with 3D is just MIND BLOWING.
Folks who do not own a WP7 device don't even have a clue what they are missing.
MS took their OS to the NEXT LEVEL. I'm a very happy camper.
yeah me too.. considering hd7 doesnt have dedicated gpu right? but the game graphics is quite good.
1000% agree with you on this one this game is simply WOW .
only issue, it bloody takes ages downloading this game, with many others...

Try with the WiFi or from PC.

^ Exactly. Big AC fan over here but as I remember the game was also released in 2008 on iPhone and it wasn't that mindblowing. Maybe this is a completely new version

No, you are right, this is the rather old AC game from long ago, just for Windows Phone is all. Nothing very impressive here. Its just nice to have it on a different platform.

I'm sure the 'liking' part is subjective. Though I cannot comment on the game on the iPhone, since I never had the device, I was very impressed with the game on my HD7. I did play the game on Xbox and it had all the aspects of the game on the console.
Sorry for the language but at least we've got the video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMZ44xE66yc
Hmm it does seem it would be much more enjoyable on the HD7's rather large screen.
Its kind a port over from the iphone... i had it on my ipod touch so its kinda similliar..
but still a good game although I thought the apple one was slightly better than this one.
But then kudos for MS they are getting there atlast
Wow. What an experience. I just DL Assasins Creed, and I was blown away. This is not your normal smartphone, this device hands down is next generation. Be patient people- you are holding a Gem.

I love how you guys are flipping out over a game from 2008 with Nintendo DS graphics. Shows how out of touch some of you are with how mobile gaming has evolved over the last few years.
You guys should check out Rage HD on the iPhone or Epic Citadel. Prepare to be amazed.
I hope you're not implying that games of that quality won't come to WP7 soon. That's pretty idiotic, given how developers already do love XNA and Microsoft's development environment in general. It's been two weeks since the US launch. Give it some time. 3000~ apps in the Marketplace, obviously some crap (Just like in EVERY other marketplace) but browse around and there are some true gems. Trust this, mad games are coming.

Xbox Live games - Everyone's first impressions?

So I'm sure almost all of you were dying to try out some of these Xbox Live games MS has been boasting about for months. And now that we have them a seclection of launch titles at our fingertips I'm curious what everyone besides me thinks of them so far?
I personally downloaded each one as a trial first to get a sense of how the presentation of these games were, how responsive and intuitive the controls were and if they were really worth the $5-7 price tag.
In the end I removed a few and kept a handful which I felt were my best choices overall.
I selected my top choices as:
- de Blob Revolution
- Flight Control
- Max & The Magic Marker
- MONOPOLY
- Need for Speed Underground
- Rocket Riot
- The Harvest
- Twin Blades
- Unite (best free game)
Now I will say some of the games appear to be just ports from other phones, some appear to have slightly improved graphics while some seem the same as their HD2 version (Monopoly & Sims 3). I found the best looking games in the marketplace to be de Blob Revolution, Max & The Magic Marker and Rocket Riot. Twin Blades is great too but looks a little dull almost as if it's not meant to be played at 480x800.
What do you all think so far? Do you think the early batch of released games is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the quality of games we'll be seeing or do you all think we're seeing the full potential of what it's capable of?
I am in no ways a fan on the iPhone but will say that in comparison of quality of games on the iOS they have some pretty ridiculous games. If anyone has seen the build quality of Rage HD on iPhone it makes me cross my fingers that WP7 is capable of the same if not better.
However I've seen screen shots and footage of the upcoming game Ilomilo and it looks like it should show some better potential for much better looking games.
I wish they would make monopoly free.
However, with Xbox Live coming to our smartphones now, the possibilities are endless, especially with WP7. So I think games like Assassins Creed and Need for Speed make other platforms look so outdated.
In recent news, I heard Google Android is getting a bit intimidated by the WP7 update coming in January.
WP7 FOR LYFE!!!!!
WE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Multiplayer support, MS needs it now. I am not asking for anything real time but games like UNO or Monopoly should at least have turn by turn multiplayer. I feel that a platform based on XBOX Live should at the minimum have turn by turn.
I agree with you both. Other OS's are looking outdated (except for the iOS).. However I'm hoping that WP7 will be able to compete soon with the visual quality of iOS games. I don't know if it's hardware limitations that's holding WP7 back on this one but they need to step it up to truly compete.
And yes MS does need to impliment true XBOX Live multiplayer into their games ASAP. I recalled the iOS having some games that you could actually play multiplayer via bluetooth I believe. I mean if you can do it on the PSP you should be able to do it here. Local multiplayer via wi-fi, turn based on the same device is mandatory, and even some other kind of true Xbox Live experience is a must.

Well it is currently their claim to fame, I would at least like to see it used. As far as visual quality check out ilomilo. These phones can pump out some nice graphics but its up to us to make this platform successful enough to pull in these developers.
I believe most of these developers already recognize the ease of use as far as developing games and apps for wp7. In a recent article, developers voiced out about wp7's flexibility and how using VB has made it very easy for them to build and deploy apps.
And BTW, there are compatibility issues using VB 2010 for development. You have the option to build your own app.

Maybe it's not available in your region. I'm in Canada and it's one of the 1st games that show up in the Xbox Marketplace.
Other OS look outdated? Android has the same assassins creed HD and has for months and has a beta port of rage HD up that easily rivals iOS. True it is Just like AT&T users get a free download of that great looking game Ilomilo and it only shows up in their marketplace but if others look for it there's nothing there.
I think there's a way to trick your phone and change regions to access apps from other countries by changing the country under Settings then Region and Language. But I could be wrong..

I hear you on Ilomilo, I remembering emailing the devs before launch and asking them whether the app was going to be exclusive to at&t phones only or time exclusive and was told no. Then a few days later their site says its a timed exclusive. I was pretty peed off, he was nice about it and said he didn't know until last minute. Such a lovely game though.

PSP On The Xoom - Will It Be A Part Of The PlayStation Suite?

About the PSP emulation on the Xoom... we already know it should be able to be done without a problem considering the fact that Sony announced that they are officially bringing the PS1 and PS2 library of games to our Android Tegra 2 devices via the PlayStation Suite by the end of this year. Where does that leave our PSP games? Will it be joining the crew in the Suite? I would love to know. I am currently playing the new Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy on my PSP 3000 and it rules, I love it!! Would be kinda neat to run it on the Xoom for future use. Thoughts?
I think this is an appropriate place to post. I'm not sure but I think I've seen one on the market.... anyways good idea +1

I think the best people to ask would be the developers of emulators like Snesoid, gensoid, N64oid, Fpse.
If there's anyone who can make emulators, these are the guys.

Very good point. I do have every single one of their emulators and I have quite a few of the premium paid ones too. They are a very awesome dev team and produce some top quality work. Maybe we should ask them if Sony has no plans to add in the PSP games to the Suite.
Don't know if you've seen this - http://pinoytutorial.com/techtorial...ase-for-playstation-games-on-tegra-2-devices/
I have seen it yes, but good info though. I'm really excited for the PlayStation Suite on Android! That includes the PS1 and PS2 games for sure as a fact. This I already knew. I wanna know if the PSP games will also be included in the PlayStation Suite line up. That would be pretty sweet to have all 3.. PS1, PS2, and PSP. Think about how many hardcore games Android will be gaining over iOS because of this. I'm thinking Final Fantasy. Mmmm!
Anything released by Sony for their own devices NGP/Xperia Play, that uses Android base (I don't actually know if NGP will run on Android, but it'd make sense for them to do so, since they'd get all the app support in addition to their own games), even if not released for other Androids, will likely be able to be hacked/modded to run on other devices, given the platform similarities.
PSP emulator would be awesome

I would hope they would. The PSN is Sony's thing. I'm almost sure that'll carry over. I highly doubt you will have to buy everything all over again considering the fact that your PSN account is linked to the PlayStation store. The store is essentially their version of the Android market in the sense that everything is linked to your email account. I wouldn't worry about that. But if for some reason they don't... that would suck.

I read somewhere that they would not carry over. It was on one of the articles last month. That and the 5 time download limit are the reasons I would never buy from the PSN.
Sony has stated that any game bought through the PSP would
not work on the android phones or service. You would need to repurchase any game you wished to play.
That's not cool man. Rebuy all games? I guess that makes sense I suppose.

Ps2 emulator

There is a ps2 emulator on the market and I own just about every one there is. The reviews on this one are either great or they say it completely sucks. Anyone had any first hand experience with this thing

I do not believe even for a second that there would exist a fully-functioning PS2 emulator for Android devices. A Core 2 Duo can't run any PS2 games playably, there's no way a mobile device with ARM-processor would either.
Reviews either suck or sing it's praises? Sounds like developer and co giving good ratings and actual users giving actual ratings?
EDIT: Ah, just checked. Developer website down, everything just reeks of fraud.
Tbh, I do not understand people who even ask these kinds of things. Where's your common sense? How could a mobile device with a fraction of a proper PC's performance run a PS2 emulator when PC's themselves are struggling with that?

I wasn't comparing an n64 and a ps2 great android developers that you are. I was making a point that if a low end cheap phone could run a n64 and dreamcast emulator that was said not to be able to by know it all great ones like y'all then a high end phone could possibly run a ps2 one. There has been tons of things done on android that "was not possible" according to geniuses like you that has been done. You tards get off my thread, you are not helping nor contributing any help. What's it with all these xda kid trolls taking over :banghead:
From the Beast : Galaxy Note
While probable, it is highly unlikely that a PS2 emulator is even possible even with the right software and development. It is just too taxing of an emulation. My high end desktop can run certain games great but then struggles to render other games. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice though, I've been wanting to play some PS2 rpgs on the go for a very long time.

From the Beast : Galaxy Note
Skies of Arcadia on the go would be amazing!
The Nintendo DS emulator doesn't even work.. how do you expect a ps2 emulator to work?

Listen, I don't know what your problem is, but use your head and stop thinking that since you're on the internet you can act like a badass. The fact is, the Nintendo DS emulator runs like ****. N64oid also only plays a handful of first-party titles. Hell I bet your computer that you're on right now can't even emulate PS2 well.
The Note doesn't even play n64 games better than a single core. The same graphical glitches are present.
A ps2 emulator is NOT realistic, and you aren't even contributing to your own thread by saying "stfu" at every corner.

That's the same thing I said on the previous page: there is no way a current-gen ARM-device could run PS2 games at full speed. The Exynos/Snapdragon chips used in our Notes cannot compete with even just one core of a Core2Duo let alone both cores, and yet my previous PC was a Core2Duo+HD3770 and it still couldn't run PS2 games playably.
But the OP acts like a spoiled little brat and keeps telling people to shut up when told about that. Not terribly constructive behaviour, let alone mature.

I've seen working ds emulators...
Hoesntly if u want to talk to someone with some brains id check out the developer yongzh from slideme.org or the guys that developed fpse the ps1 emulator. Yongzh has always been very kind to me and I've been in corespondance (spelling?) with him for years now.

Handful of first party titles..? I can play over 40 on my g2 without a problem... there are probably only about 50 good games on every system in the first place.

So you consider "working" to play at 3fps and load three games? Yongzh is a stand up guy but that doesn't make the Nintendo DS emulator work any better or a ps2 emulator more feasible.
