CM10.1 Test - Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Android Development

So I started this build, and it finished without any errors. Keep in mind that this is my first EVER Rom build. And I have not been able to test it because I'm away from my workstation and Tab. But didn't want to wait till I got home to see if it works.
If there are any brave souls out there that want to try it, I have linked the package............. Please be kind
Tested and Failed!!!
Continuing my efforts

Let me know if you can get this booting. would love to take a look at it.

Might be worth a try using the update binary from my stock deodexed Rom.

i tried that and also jamisons,
replacing boot.img with stock just to check
still getting the same error.
build.prop says its 4.2.2. I got rid of the build.prop assert in updater and still having errors. i would like to take a look at the op's device tree he compiled this from

I may need to tweak some of these files, and rebuild it. I'm surprised it completed without errors....lol
I took parts from the Tab 2 wifi and followed http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro
I think it has something to do with when I pulled the blobs from my device............... "generate-blob-lists.sh" I had to edit that and I'm thinking that it didn't get everything that it should have needed.
I have ssh running so I'm able to get into my Ubuntu box remotely....... Time to play.
I'll see if I can get the tree pushed to git....... never done that either...... but hey, that's what learning is all about........right

If you need help with github - My how to. Do you have the propriety files?

i've been working on a device tree also. i believe this github may provide a great deal of info on what may be lacking for us to build cm.
https://github.com/ohanar/android_device_samsung_smdk4210-tab
during my research the exnoys chipset was used in the gsII and according to marvell pxa988 and smdk4210 are synonmous. AFAIK the prop blobs should mostly be in /system/lib/hw the major workload maybe just resizing for our display

Nice to see this get going I just finished setting up Ubuntu. Now I need to setup the build stuff and then I can try.my luck as well. I ll also setup git then, so that everyone, who is interested can follow and join in hope I get it done by tonight

also once we get a working cm 10 base i have the paranoid android and aokp repo's all synced for my ONE. We could port that too

You use the extract-files.sh or pull files yourself?

The issue is the extract-files.sh are board dependant. There isn't a universal extract-files.sh file. The cyanogen mod wiki says to create your own.
Sent from my HTCONE using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2

The issue is you can only run that file when your device is running cm10. Otherwise you have to pull it all out yourself.

Crap....... that's where I went wrong then......

I've got a fairly good connection and could do a build for you. I'm building PA nightlies for mako but I also keep my cm sources synced. So I'd just need your local_manifest (including your device trees repo) to do a build for you. Would take around 2 1/2 hours I guess...

As soon, as I have all the stuff needed, I ll get a git setup, so everyone can join in and also try his luck I gotta confess, I am also still a noob concerning this whole cm build thing. So dont get your hopes up too high. But I am still convinced, that we can get it done together

[MOD/PATCH]PDroid "Better privacy protection" v1.26 Patch for Atrix CM7

There is an awesome (non-root might i add) app for those who don't like your info being shared with anybody called PDroid that can be found here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357056
Among its huge feature arsenal is the ability to block app's from seeing your IMED, SIM details, sms/mms, etc. It consumes no battery life at all and is very customizable. the only downside is that you must make a patch for each device and each ROM. i took the liberty of making said patch for the Ba2tF CM7 ROM and have posted the CWM-flashable zips for your enjoyment. all you have to do is boot into CWM and flash. if for some reason you don't want your phone to be awesome you can flash the "restore" zip and the original files will be back.
I am not responsible for literally a single thing you do with these files. have fun.
If you found this helpful or just enjoyable to read the thanks button is somewhere down to the right.. but whatever you do, don't hold down shift while you press it!
UPDATE: PDroid is not yet compatible with ICS/CM9 but the dev is actively working on supporting this, so sit tight and i will update the OP when he does so.
Since it works on Ba2tf, would it also work on weekly/nightly builds?
It is very rom specific, i wouldnt use my zip for Ba2tF with that rom.

It does work just fine on Neutrino ROM which is based on the weekly builds.
I have created patches for Dorians Redpill, Ba2tf, Neutrino GT/GT+ will also be creating one for EE shortly. I will post the patches for the API for PDroid shortly.
BTW this privacy app is awesome! You just need Linux to create a API patch for your phone.
EDIT: I had to create a new post to add the attachments..... kept failing every time I tried to add here. See post below.
Below are the API patches required to run PDroid for the specific ROMs. RESTORE patch included to remove the patch if it doesn't work. lol Don't hold me responsible if they don't work or if something funky happens..... but it worked for every ROM I have tested it on.
Keep in mind you don't need to be rooted to run the app, but you need to be rooted to run the patch.
EDIT: Also remember if your ROM ever gets updated odds are you will have to create a new patch for the newest version.
I got a PM from the dev today who had some good news.. Previously the patch maker was only available for Linux..
The good news is that you now can make a patch for your ROM yourself. Check out the PDroid patcher for Windows in the PDroid thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19570091. Or download it directly: http://goo.gl/oztqS.

Setting up to try my hand at rom devel soon; once cm9 is a bit more stable ill build from git. Have compiled source for "true" linux but not android.
Since I'm making it security centric, this could be a nice addition. Will be researching further.

I have been using LBE Privacy Guard, which revokes these permissions and more on an app-by-app basis. It's not ROM specific but a little time-consuming setting up rules for each app.

My update will have the tweak and the app integrated
I can't thank you enough for the patch n1ckr0th. I've been using droidwall and an app called permissions to stop other apps from sending my data out. Now it's up to me who sees my real data. I understand that a lot of companies make their livings on advertisements and the like, but why do they have to know about and acquire my personal data for me to play a game or run a process that allows me to work more effectively. It's issues like this that make me want to learn how to code for android and write some great apps that won't steal everything on your device that it can see. Hmm, actually that's a good idea. Thanks again.

[DEV]Ultimate AOSP ICS Testing Arena [Always Updating]

Mod Edit: Per Kraizk, please carefully read the thread & all posts. Not all links are updated & flashing the incorrect file may cause issues. The items posted in here are generally for advanced users or those knowledgeable enough to contribute to the project. I am in no way dissuading you from trying something new, just asking you to be thorough & certain about what you are downloading. Some links may be outdated, incomplete or outdated builds
This is a new dev chat area for my ICS builds. I finally have power, so am back to work on these builds all day today. I will be uploading each new testing build without updating this thread, so it's imperative you check the upload time on mediafire.
At the end of each build day I will be renaming the most stable/functional build as the beta for the day, or uploading an older build as the Beta for the day.
Some builds may not boot, may not have fully functioning cam, and may not have working cell due to attempting to get fully functional cell, and functioning mobile data. I'm also attempting to revert some very hacky workarounds and still maintain full functionality.
I'm not responsible for failure to read this, broken phones, or user error.
Install instructions:
-Flash ota zip in recovery
-Reboot to Fastboot, and flash boot.img
-YOU NEED THE NEW HBOOT!
If you don't know how to follow the instructions, then these testing builds are definitely not for you, and I would wait for the daily beta.
Download Testing Builds In the Test folders, boot.img will always upload before the ota zip, so please be patient.

Damn, you beat me to the second post! After logcats, or suggestions from dev minded folks really, but currently building test4 due to issues with test3(test3 is the current build up as labeled).
This just seemed like the most efficient way to continue moving forward, and then by the end of my build day there will be a stable/functional beta labeled as such for the less adventurous.
Excellent man!. I was wondering if you'd get this up before I returned from vacation.

Yeah! Test3 is quite broken actually, so working on Test4 also without using the prebuilt libril. If needed I'll revert to prebuilt by the time I need to upload a full beta.
Edit: And I need to learn to code more and build less. Was looking through the log, and realized I accidentally copied over something from the shooter that obviously won't work for us.

Once Test4 finishes building (if it boots), let me know! or just shoot me a logcat. I've only been able to test on vivid thus far. "adb logcat > logcattest.txt" is the command to run without the quotes to get a log sent to a text file (won't display anything while it's running), or copy past from adb logcat.
GOO-INSIDE.ME IS TAKING AGES TO UPDATE, SO I'M WORKING ON UPLOADING TO DROPBOX INSTEAD SINCE IT SEEMS TO UPDATE FASTER.

How do you figure? When a Nexus device is about to launch with a new version of Android, AOSP is always updated 1-3 days BEFORE that device is officially released or made available.
That would put us at July 12/13th, which is a date that's been hinted as being the release date.
Anyone have an io nexus 7 that can supply us with a vendor/ file with all the necessary makefiles and binaries so we can start to build while waiting for our devices to ship??

I'm expecting a few days before they have a cm10 repo ready for us. until then i have jellybean aosp.
and rmm200, as for the size of the repo, i have no clue yet. cm9 is about 15+ gb. I'm guessing jellybean should be about the same.
OK - I read up on the requirements for downloading the repo and building - and decided I am not that bored - yet.
If the Nexus 7 does not come by next week - I may revisit this.
the first time it looks complicated and confusing, however it's actually pretty simple stuff.
It is the little things that get you:
64 bit Linux system: Check
30 gig disk space: My biggest Linux virtual machine is 12GB... I would have to figure out how to set up a 30GB disk file as a virtual disk
If running under VM, at least 16GB ram: I am sitting at 4GB... No workaround for this one

Nope, you use those files to pull the necessary binaries and makefiles off your n7 which will populate a vendor/ file in your working directory. Thanks though.
Just to clarify I have not received my n7 yet, so I can't pull the stuff needed to build from it. I'm hoping an io attendee will pull and post them so I can start a build while I wait.

I think we could hack the chachas kernel tree, I'll contact Lucas now. I've worked with him on other projects for the chacha.

Okay, I'm going to compile this and go to Judo because I can.
When I get back you might/might not see a build uploaded. If you don't then don't blame me.
but if you do then please do the following:
0) Set up ADB on your computer and backup stuff
1) Download it
2) Clear data as normal
3) Install it via Clockworkmod recovery (if possible)
4) Run the following...
adb dmesg > dmesg.txt
adb logcat > logcat.txt
at the same time to log everything your phone does.
Once this is done, please use logcat.miui.us, pastie.org or pastebin.com to report all the logs so I can read them later.
If it boots, screen cap it along with everything that's working. Please also include the recovery version you used too.

[DEV][WIP]Incredible Sense 3.6[No Boot][Apr.13.2013]

Here is my port thus far:
X Disclaimor - Rom does not boot meaning this is not working yet X
I think since sense 4 was obtainable I'd like to think Sense 3.6 is too.
Now, i'd like to ask for a little help if anyone is available.
Plus, I know developers because I am one; we have an insatiable palette for a good project.
I've discovered two things that have made me feel like i'm stuck:
4/12/2013
1) I am not sure what else I can remove from the system dir to decrease the size to what is needed ~ 272524902.4 bytes (259.9Mb)
The Roms system dir is ~274083573.9bytes (261.4Mb); I basically need to know what else I can get rid of that equal up to 1558671.5 bytes (1.5Mb)
Here's the catch- I already took out the weather from media and apps and have symlinked them from the data partition.
2) I am not sure if I have correctly made the kernel.
I have a boot.img from the sense 3.6 rom i used to port. And I added the bootclasspath from the base kernel.
I also have renamed the proper files that needed to be renamed with inc.
Update: 4/13/2013
I've shrunk the system/usr dir down and now the port is under the size limit.
I have also tinkered with the boot.img more. Can someone check it to make sure that I have done is okay..
`Link in my sig:
First thing check how we did it before using symlinks to make some of the files physically on data but linked to system.

So far I've symlinked system/media/weather to data/system.weather and the system/app dir to data/system.app.
This is what i'm using:
symlink("/data/system.app", "/system/app");
set_perm_recursive(0, 0, 0755, 0644, "/data/system.app");
symlink("/data/system.weather", "/system/media/weather");
set_perm_recursive(0, 0, 0755, 0644, "/data/system.weather");
Do you think i could do the same with the system/vendor dir?
Edit: Don't need to worry now that the current port's system partition, which is now uploading, will be under the size limit.

Glad to see a Sense ROM getting some love.

We need to see how PureMotive got it booting on Sense 4. My brain's rusty on that project as it died a while ago and I am not sure how he got it to boot. I also need dedication to work on Sense after the superiority of AOSP on an aging device let alone ICS Sense. I don't know if I will have time to dedicate now that I'm working more on the Galaxy Nexus and a CM 10.1 ROM.

Yeah. Exactly. My brain is rusty too. I probably should try to find that Rom we worked on and see what the kernel looks like.
But don't worry about that, I think ppl like seeing devs even conversing together lol.

This is just a thought but couldent you for now pull the puremotive boot.img until you can build a patched kernel that you can push to the zip

That's not enough on its own. Need to swap some files with those from an aosp ics build for the Inc.

How about the latest evervolv ICS release. That's what pure pulled from I believe.
@zachf714:
I will look also. If I find any, i'll upload them to the working folder i created for the project.
And if you guys find any, link me here and i'll download and do the same thing.
@tiny4579:
On the Luxe Rom we worked.. I don't have any of the files anymore. Do you happen to have a rom.zip of the project?
@project Community:
I've uploaded the Rom I used to port with to the dev host - droid in working folder.
I'm about to upload the other Rom I used.
Both the base and port rom I used to make the WIP are uploaded now.

This was actually the most stable ICS ROM I ran

I at least got a splash screen loop by flashing the boot.img from the cm9 rom
And man do I LOVE GITHUB https://github.com/PureMotive/sense36-ics-inc Those are the files Pure had put on Github

That was an initial failed attempt. I think I worked on this with pure. Was it a fork?

Not until I just forked it and yeah you did
Damn. Wish I wasn't in bed already.
I'd compile pures git and see if his kernel does anything with the WIP.
My kid gets on the bus at 7:50a (est) and will Dev a bit before I get going for the day.
But if someone tries before then let us know the outcome.
I'm transferring over two versions of the WIP now.
One with the boot.img from pure's git injected into it.
And another that is redesigned to look like how pure had it. Also, I merged my bin, lib and xbin.
Also using the boot.img from pure.
Testing in a minute or so and i'll report back with the outcome.
(Off topic ~ Today's my 4 year anniversary being at xda )
Edit: Yeah, they both didn't work. I'm uploading v0_3 now so you guys can take a look at what I did.

That is exactly what I thought so took care of that hahaha.
Right now, imo, I'm thinking it's a lib problem from my recent logcat.
I'll hop on in a few minutes and take another logcat and upload it.
(I deleted the one I had because I hadn't realized that you all might want to take a look too)
