Hmm. Didn't know there was any distinction whatsoever, since I thought this was generic as my device isn't from any carrier. The only bloat that I saw (which are removable) are things like File Commander, Evernote, Officesuite.

If you uncheck wiping data, your data won't be lost, although best to back up to be safe.

I remember the numerous steps involved in rooting .244 involved initially backing up keys & unlocking bootloader ...
Does Vroot require these 2 steps as a pre req?
Thanks!

Well, if you find those root tools shady, you can always downgrade and use the perf_event exploit and upgrade via OTA, or unlock and flash a superuser zip.

rogers xperia t ftf file needed

Hi all, im looking for anyone that can provide the xperia ftf file for rogers xperia t version.
I have tried to get it by repairing my phone but i get this error; sony update engine doesn't have software available for your phone.
So even if you dont have the ftf file and can share the blob file i can make the ftf file.
Thanks
Just want to add a not for new LT30a phone owners.
Do not flash or root your phone with a rogers branded xperia t (LT30A) with out backing it up by running the pc companion update first. If you do you wont be able to go to stock until we have a FTF file here to use with flashtool (rogers is checking build prop or something that stops the update).
Now I have already had 2 rogers xperia t's and can say with out question the roms here are not for our xperia T's. they will flash but you will get horrible battery life (my phone dies on my desk in 4 hours just sitting there not even using it with a full battery).
Also you will mess up the LTE network, if i connect on LTE my phone gets hot enough for me to put it down. you will also notice that our versions of the xperia T have an option in mobile network settings under network mode to use LTE (preferred)/wcdma/gsm. well if you open that option LTE is missing. It's there on stock roms.
All the issue's above happened on both my Xperia T's.
Stuck with a pretty paper weight for now.
Any ways just want to save someone else from the headaches I'm experiencing.
Means its not on Sony's servers. Had that happen for the at&t TL too. Had to wait a week or so till they got it on there.
Sent from my Sony Xperia S
What version of the FW do you have?
If you have the latest version you will not see any updates - you will also not be able to DL the latest version of the firmware through the PC companion software because there is nothing to DL. This leaves you without the ability to create a ftf for your phone - just like me. I bought mine late last week and although I am very pleased with the current state of the phone, I plan on purchasing my unlock code and moving forward with Rom installation etc. once my intial terror of creating a lovely coaster is overwith. I'm on MTS and will legitimately unlock then get flashing soon.

Not true. There is always a repair option that will download and install the latest version even if your phone had that latest version
Sent from my LT30p xda premium app.
How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?
here's what sucks, i had the uk generic .303 rom flashed and i can repair the phone with pc comanion. problem is it puts on the .195 o2 uk rom.
Hope it does not take to long to get the rogers ftf file here.

OK I followed this guide to create an FTF and got it created. Where can I upload it to?
http://mytechencounters.wordpress.c...eate-an-ftf-file-of-your-xperia-ics-firmware/
However, I don't know is the ftf .193 or .195? Does the "blob_fs" get created with the new update version .195 or does it generate a backup of my .193?
It will be the new version. You can upload to google drive easily enough. Just zip the file first.

[Q] Rooting the Xperia V [Solved]

Hello nice people of this forum, I've just got myself an Xperia V, running 9.0.1.D.0.10, and is looking for a method to root it without unlocking the bootloader.
I've tried googling it and searching the forums but came back empty. Perhaps some nice person can help me.

If you look in v android development there is an unsecure kernel, but this is for older firmware, maybe it works
Edit: you must unlock bootloader for custom kernel, i do not think bin4ry method works for newer firmwares

There may be a way to root without unlocked bootloader
Try this well-known way of rooting Xperia AX in Japan.
I guess it's also possible for V to root.
1. Here is a Xperia VL's old rom and you can flash this kernel.sin and system.sin with V's loader.sin.
I can't post the link, but you can find it in uploaded.net. The ID is 3gvvv3w6.
2. Then, Root.
3. Create /data/local.prop (ro.kernel.qemu=1).
4. Flash V's system.sin without wiping.
5. Replace ric, install Busybox and Superuser.
6. Flash V's kernel.sin without wiping.
7. Do Factory data reset to easily delete unnecessary apps.

What happened to my z1?

My z1 is the China edition, it dose not contains Google accounts ,Google play and Google service framework etc. For me it's unacceptable, so I rooted it,and use root explorer copy these apks to system from the gapps pack. Now almost everything works fine, except two issues. One is every time when I reboot the phone, it always makes me choose the languages. Another is z1 cannot be found in the Google play's device list.Does anyone know what make these happened and how to fix it?
Sent from my L39h using xda app-developers app
Rather than extracting each apks from gapp, it'd be better to just flash the entire gapp.zip from cwm recovery.
So if I were you:
1. Flash cwm, if you haven't done so already.
2. Factory reset the phone.
3. Flash gapp via cwm recovery.
That's true. But flash the cwm must be unlocked. Will the bravia engine be lost when I unlocked the device? It's my first time use Sony's device, I don't known much about it.

Well you can just flash CWM recovery via ROM Manager (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager) once you're rooted.
In terms of the Bravia Engine, just do a TA back up (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598)
BTW, there're reports that unlocking the bootloader breaks the camera (http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/09/14/unlocking-xperia-z1-bootloader-breaks-camera-functionality/). So you'd have to back up TA anyway.
If you want a good stock rom just flash a ftf with flashtool from another region. You even do not need to unlock or whatever to get gapps then, just flash a unrestricted region!
Gesendet von meinem C6903 mit Tapatalk 4
Thanks guys,I already backup the TA,but I don't know what does it use for? I'll try the rom manager as well! And flash another region's stock rom will it be bricked?

Some have reported losing camera when flashing stock rom for another region. So you need to backup TA before you flash anything or you take the chance of losing your camera.

Yes exactly, you can flash FTF WITHOUT unlocking. FTF flashing with flashtool is same as flashing with Sony original flashing software, but Flashtool lets you override the region settings, so you can debrand/crossflash another region etc etc

You mean for C6903 right? because as it seems there is C6902 (like in CN) and in TW, but in HK i can only find Model C6903, and SOMETIMES these models differ on little parameters, like kernel and can cause unwanted issues!

Please note that those kernels are from Z1 compact roms, which SHOULD NOT make a difference. Could someone with a Z1 test this out?
Otherwise, if u have a Z1 and want a kernel only ftf file then please provide the model number and I'll post them here or on the original thread

Received today notification of new firmware update, from 108 to 157, only 5mb update. Will I loose root obtained with newroot?
Most likely..
but you can always flash a 108 kernel then root and then flash the 157 kernel again.
Could you put the OTA update on mega then post the link on the original thread for munjeni so he can have a look at it?
He'll work out what to do
If i root my z1 with this tool and install xposed, anything corrupted? Anyone have tried install xposed?

Here are updates for countries or operators for 157.
kernel downgrade to .108
hi everybody, i have a z1c with .157 kernel and want to downgrade to .108 for newroot. what i found, is this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/rom-d550314-4-0-108latest-t2862578
i just want to doublecheck, that this is the right rom to take out the kernel for the flashtool. if it is, maybe you want to add the link to the sticky first page, as i guess more people will want to know, where to get the .108 from.
another stupid question: if i only downgrade the kernel, will i get back to .157 with the sony ota update or do i need to flash it also with flashtool.
thanks a lot, megic

Without unlocking bootloader ? can i root the phone ?
I did it with locked boot loader on a z3, getting my z3+ upcoming week and technically there is no big difference I think…
The app is partly in chinese but does not unlock the boot loader for you some no harm done
Bad luck still they haven't cracked new Z3+ code, say unable to root. Find attached pic

guys any buddy can help me add language interface for arabic support i do have a Z3+ 3days back i tied all the stock market rom.
I believe there is a way to root this phone now, but at the cost of losing the DRM keys forever. I'm not technical savvy and so I do not know the consequences of losing the DRM keys. See below for the link to the post which lets you root sony xperia z3+ for both single and dual sims.

u missed the thread title mate. unlocking bootloader & missing DRM keys are not what most of us looking for in the first place for Sony devices.
BTW it seems that bounties like this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/xperia-z3v-general/bounty-z3-d6708-root-t3059181 ) worked.
Most of the Sony devices of late gained root through bounties like above. So if every owner of Z3+/Z4 shell out a small amount, then we'd have "exploit hunters" on the hunt which would give us a (true) root in no time.
What do you people say?
Count me in with 10€
same goes for me!
How or who can manage a z3+/z4 Bounty??
