active sync not syncing

for some reason since yesterday i couldnt sync with my laptop running vista anymore...it connects..and under wmdc it says connected but when it trys to sync the sync center just says sync failed...i've searched around and played around with the settings..such as unchecking the usb to PC box..the enable advanced network...i've tried deleting and re-creating a new partnership and it still wouldnt sync..now my phone has no contacts appointments in the calender but its all on my laptop...
edit: i am able to send files back and forth and use the file explorer...just cant get it to sync
any other settings i should look at?
i've read another thread that looked into the wifi which i did and had no success..
any other ideas?
edit: i'm playing around with what to sync..and its for some reason contaccts and calender it wont sync...if i uncheck those and just check lets say...mobile favs under wmdc...it'll sync no problem...i wonder whats causing this?
edit:still playing around with no advance..but for some reason if i just go to the calender or contact on the phone it freezes...maybe that has to do with it not syncing..because mobile favs n notes are syncing
Same here
I am having a similar problem. As far as I can tell mine sync's but I still get an error at the end. Not sure what isn't syncing.
I have the same problem but only with Contacts. Calendar and tasks sync normally. I'm using an original ROM WM6.0 in a Kaiser. and ActiveSync 4.5 with Outlook XP in a Windows XP SP3 machine (Works fine in my other computer with the same configuration). Do you know about a possible cause?
Not much help but I think I remember seeing threads somewhere that talked about sync problems due to corrupt calender/contacts files either on the pc or the device. Also I think it's temperamental about where your contacts etc are stored.

Syncing my phone and PC via things like Google Calendar

I'm getting rid of Outlook and starting to use Sunbird with the Google Calendar extension but I'm a little confused on what I need to do from here to get everything working the way I want.
I'd like to be able to use Sunbird for my tasks and calendar and Thunderbird for my contacts. I want my PC to be able to sync all this data online (free or paid... not really important) and I'd like my phone to be able to sync all that data wirelessly. This way, If I mark a task as complete on my phone, when I log onto my computer it will show as complete as well. All of this, without needing to use ActiveSync by conntecting my phone to my PC.
So far I have Sunbird syncing with Google Calendar without any issues. I also know of a few apps for Windows Mobile that will sync the Pocket Outlook database with Google Calendar. This then, takes care of all my calendar needs.
But, what about my tasks and contacts? Google Calendar doesn't sync either of those so I'm confused on what I need to do to get all 3 things syncing.
I'm thinking maybe I need some sort of online service (other then Google Calendar) that allows the syncing of all 3 and also has an app for windows mobile.
With that said, can anyone point me in the right direction? What's the best (in your opinion) way to sync a windows based PC with some online service that also syncs with your phone wirelessly?
try oggsync
I successfully used GooSync to do that; worked fine.
Only issue is that it's a manual process from the phone.
BirdieSync, while not free seems to do the job really well. I have thunderbird with lightning calendar extension configured to sync with google calendar.

[Q] sync contacts with outlook 2007 problem

Been using the Galaxy S as a second multi-media device while waiting for the official 2.2 to be released by O2 UK (don't want to risk any unofficial firmware update due to the 3 button combo, not being available on this device).
The Galaxy can see contacts on the Sim card, but I want to sync it with my contacts in Outlook 2007. When I connect the phone to Kies (latest version), Kies shows my contacts and when I ask it to sync with outlook, the progress bar appears and successfully completes, but when I disconnect the phone, the outlook contacts have not been transfered to the phone.
I don't want to use Google contacts but simply transfer contacts (name, address, email) to the Galaxy S from Outlook 2007.
What should I do ?
Maybe its not displayed because its not set up to? goto contacts and click on options/more/display options and play around with it. I think you want to look at PHONE setting but I don't know as I don't use kies and everything for me is set to GMAIL/GOOGLE only as i've had bad experiences with leaving numbers in phones and sim cards (if you loose the phone you loose both)
Beautiful...That done it (display options). Thanks

[Q] Oh No! Not Another Kies / Outlook Sync Problem

Driving me nuts, so here goes.
Worked 1 time and never worked again.
Windows XP environment, running Outlook 2003 SP3
USB interface to Samsung SGH-I777
Kies current version (just downloaded).
Kies can not find Outlook, even though Outlook is exactly where it belongs and has not moved. Outlook file is named the default Outlook.pst
When you try to sync anything (contacts, schedule, etc) the error message is "Cannot retrieve information for Outlook folder."
Is there a configuration setting somewhere to point to the Outlook file?
What needs to be changed (cleaned up? purged? pointed to?) so Kies can find the Outlook file and a sync can actually happen?
Any constructive suggestions cheerfully accepted.
- Alternative to Kies -
On Android phone:
Contacts: save & sync with Google account, never save to Phone contacts.
Photos: save to external sdcard.
Apps: use market app AppBrain.
Appointments/calendar: sync with Google account, setup Hotmail as Exchange mail.
Read how to sync Outlook - Gmail on Google Gmail.
SMS: GO SMS Pro handles backup, or use other messaging backup app (Market) to serve stock messaging.
The Samsung USB drivers are available without installing Kies:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/SAMSUNG-USB-Driver-1480.shtml
I usually have USB mass storage + USB debugging enabled all the time, and SGS function like an USB stick when connecting to Windows.
In case of emergency this make adb contact anytime. Freeware (win/linux/ios) QTadb is really handy in root operation.
= never use Kies
Thx for reading, press THANKS if u like
Sorry, but I was asking for a KIES solution.
There are plenty of other options, and I do NOT want a Google solution.
Appreciate your taking the time to reply, but it did not answer my problem.
Still waiting for a constructive solution.
STILL waiting for a useful response.
I am looking for how to make Kies actually work.
Or is Kies such a piece of garbage it is incapable of working?
Come on folks - Kies to sync via USB between Outlook and an Android phone.
This should be a no-brainer. It don't work! How do we make it work?
Anyone?????
Connect your VPN first if exchange server need VPN
I get the same problem with my office exchange server is in VPN.
connect the VPN and open outlook to see successfully connected or not.
Retry after connected.
The problem go away if outlook working properly.
found an app in Play Store called "Outlook Synced Note - USB Sync" not sure if it'll help but you could give it a try... also had this link on page http://www.android-sync.com/

Click to collapse
MyPhoneExplorer is really good and it's free - you cannot sync directly with Outlook.
All I did was set up my outlook email address as an account and then just select to sync calendar/contacts?
Sony PC companion syncs outlook contacts/calendars via GOOGLE account
So on the circumstances (such as for WORK), where you only just want to sync directly between PC and device, seems only something like MYPHONEEXPLORER can do.
But the thing is that i find it (MPE) quite buggy with windows 8 and newer handsets.
Any other suggestions?
Just setup exchange account(outlook) and enable sync calendar and contact.
