White dialer at&t only? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So the display at best buy which isn't linked to a carrier has a black dialer which is the same as the videos I've seen. Is this At&+ only? Does anyone Know of anything else that is different?

I believe the AT&T and a couple other carriers have a white dialer. Others are black. I like the black the best personally.

I guess the part where I mentioned at&t having a white dialer didn't make it in the OP

Funny! lol
For sure the AT&T version is white, I have that particular one. I just can't remember who else has the white dialer in their ROM.

So no factory way to toggle white to black on n900t? Hate the wire dialer and in other places like text but they do have strings to fix some of that.
Guess yet another reason to get a custom rom

Yeah a custom ROM is your best bet when we get it.

Apologies if this has been covered before but i couldnt see anything on it.
Just came from xperia s to the note however my wireless bars and signal bars never turn blue indicating a connection to google servers.
From what i can see everything works ok, my contacts sync ok, i get my gmails ok etc etc.
I have also got a new sim in case tjere was something wrng with it....seems not
Anyone come across this before, should i return the handset as faulty?

Don't worry as long as you can rec. Calls and make calls without any problem, and it is normal, I always have full bars with gray colour but I can make calls,if u want more signal bars just try some modems till you find the best for your location/carrier

You didn't understand his question.
On stock clean ICS, bars turn bleu when you are connected to google services.
On the note they don't..So nothing wrong with your handset

Then it must be wrong on mine to.....because it has never been blue...
Ah great so nothing to worry about then? Cool.
I was just a little concerned, seemed strange to have horrible grey bars all the time.
I guess i am just used to seeing blue having come from the xperia and google nexus before that.
Thanks

[Q] Kernel for notification

Is there a kernel for the Sprint variant that allows you to enable the back and home button to light up when notifications come through phone? I know there's one for the GSM version but haven't seen one for CDMA version yet.
Wrong section should be Q&A
As for your question I don't think so ATM

I don't know what the app is called, but there is an app for that. I read a review and someone wanted the same thing, and they found it, but I can't find the review.

Faux's kernel does this, no? You may need his app to turn it on though.

Yes. Only explanation is that it's somehow controlled by the SIM card. One that's acting normal is on TMobile and the other is on AT&T. Also, both are XT1053, but one shows 4G and another shows 4G LTE. Has to be SIM-controlled... I hate AT&T!
EDIT: nope... not it.

Yes. This is what's driving me nuts. Although one is completely virgin and another one I've been using.
So if you swap the sims between the two phones the odd behavior doesn't also change? I know certain providers like to specify what the phone should indicate, this really sounds like of those cases.
I haven't swapped but saw the other phone show same 4g LTE icon. I guess AT&T is forcing it to always on.

Swapped cards... it is the damn AT&T that's forcing it!

If you want the somewhat technical reason, inside the SystemUI.apk, Motorola has modified it and added a bools.xml which basically turns on and off many carrier related stuff.
For example, Sprint sim cards change the signal icons to 6 bars, verizon 5 bars, and if you had an AT&T phone, the AT&T icons.
Just thought I would add this.:good:
That's what I figured. I also thought that the TMobile version would be immune from silly AT&T crap like this, but guess not.

Well, you do get an unlockable bootloader and no AT&T logo on the back.

should i buy a specific HTC one

im gonna be joining your forum in a few days (long awaited) and i was wondering if there was a specific criteria i should match to ensure i get the best buy possible. I know there are usually some better screens, selected firmware that may be s off and i definatly want s off. so can i just buy any htc one or what?

The best is the international unlocked HTC One single SIM. All Ones can be S-OFF easily, unless you have certain carrier locked Ones
I'd go with one that has a camera sensor newer than December, or try to get one that has the omni sensor, to help avoid the purple tint problems in low light.

Or if your going to be using T-Mobile make sure to buy one from them as it has different band hardware then the ATT, Google Play or International versions.

Looks like the sprint ones sell for a nice price. Is there any reason I should avoid these phones as I use gsm but I read that they can be unlocked easy

Sprint One is not compatible with a few roms. Better to avoid CDMA
Thanks for the heads up so sprint is definitely out but couldn't I s off super Cid and then take and AT&T ruu and make it as tho from AT&T or is the hardware different or something?
????
Sprint and ATT are different hardware wise.
If you want an ATT one buy an ATT one or a Google Play edition one.
