[Q] HTC Clock on WXGA Windows Phone 8? - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I really miss HTC Clock from my old HTC 8X and I would love to have it on my Nokia Lumia 920. I wanted to install it using the Fiddler2 method but that didn't work because WXGA resolution isn't supported by the application. So, here's what I thought:
ATIV S users should be able to install HTC Clock using Fiddler2 method because the resolution is the same. After they install the app they could get the encrypted XAP using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462730
I don't know if the application uses "ID_CAP_INTEROP", if yes, I suppose we wouldn't be able to deploy the application on dev-unlocked phones and this would be useless, but if not It should only be necessary to open WMAppMainfest.xml and add this tag in <ScreenResolutions>:
Code:
<ScreenResolution Name="ID_RESOLUTION_WXGA" />
Even though the application wouldn't run (i don't really know if it would), the live tile should work fine, no?
I'm afraid that Interop is required to update the live tile every minute, but I would know your opinion about that.
Bye :fingers-crossed:.

You tried this ? (if you have developer account)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260156
Sadly enough, because of unexpected limitations the time only updates every ~40 minutes when you download
the TimeMe application from the store, you can however download a sideload version which requires a developer
unlocked phone from the project website: http://projects.arnoldvink.com which will update the time every minute.

Wow thank you, this app is great! :highfive:
Anyway I can't see any option to display only the clock just like HTC application does. The app overall is great, but most important since this app updates the clock every minute without interop capabilities maybe it's really possible to port HTC clock to all WP8 phones!
Could someone with an unlocked ATIV S try this? :fingers-crossed:

Thanks very much
Sent from my RM-821_apac_australia_new_zealand_304 using Tapatalk

I tried it, the app verifies if you are really using a HTC Device, if not, the clock won't work. You just get a blank tile like on my ATIV S.

HTC Hub Update

Hi guys,
Seems that there is another update for HTC Hub (Version 1.5)
I noticed that with this version we can see in HTC HUB Tile the weather and location, something that never happened before.
Good update
Yes, excellent update. Live tile is just what it needed and you can set it to update every hour if needed.

Yes, its there, but still I think, that it would be better, if the weather could be used as a separeted Live Tile. The whole HUB takes ages to start...
I would love the Weather as a separate tile like the Stocks.

My advice for HTC:
1. Separate weather from HUB
2. For HTC phones make it for free
3. For the rest sell it in the marketplace for USD 2,99
Better, than make the app unusable, so everybody is using different one like weather bug or weather channel.
Does anyone have the xap file of the htc hub?

sorry , but it is impossible to sideload app's from marketplace (signed app's)
so even if you find someone (one that used wireshark) that has the .xap you would never get it on your phone.
V1.5 is getting better definitely. As an over 50 who can't read the time at the top of the screen without putting my reading glasses on, I would also like the tile to show the time in the usual HTC style!
nice update

Hey Antonio nice to see you here much respect on all your work, Im a fan.
On the HTC Hub update, its nice to have the weather on the tile now but like someone already mentioned, one smaller tile would be better. Also I would love to see the HTC Clock on a tile, that would be awesome..
Saw this on pocketnow; I updated my HTC Hub to 1.5 but my Tile on the start screen is still the static one.
Anyone else experience this problem ?
Have restarted, repinned etc..

Dude, chill and wait. The updates to your tile will come.
I updated but no change in my HTC hub either. I also have been having a lot of problems with 3rd party apps that use live tiles.
1. Beezz do not work for me at all. I get an erro when I try to save settings
2. GReadie do not work either. Says cannot connect to push channel
3. HTC hub dont work
Weather Channel, Flixter and Weather bug work.
shrugs

Beezz's live tile updates are a bit squiffy at the moment, I'm sure it'll settle down soon enough. Can't speak for GReadie, don't use it. HTC Hub updates are working fine, you just have to wait for the update to get to your phone. Give it 24 hours.

Open HTc Hub and go to Settings > and UNCHECK update when opened.. thats it your live tile should work now
you might want to change the frequency to every hour as well if you really wanna updated weather all the time

HD7 Works
I can confirm that as long as you unlock a pre-nodo version (7004 etc) and ensure that it stays unlocked you can successfully install the Mango Beta. You need to find the files for yourself though or sign up to be an developer and you will get the links.
Google is your friend.

I've installed it and it sucks. All the sideloaded apllications doesn't work anymore. I can get no connection with messenger, email accounts .... Marketplace gives continuously errors.
I don't see any advantage in the mango beta. Rolling back ... I hope a next version will be better.

MOST side loaded apps don't work because Mango does support INTEROP_Services or what ever it's called. That means the file browsers/registry editors/other apps using native code. As for messenger, some have said they got it working, but you must remember, it's a BETA for a reason. My Email works just fine & so does the Market. The install process for apps seems better now. You can now query apps for install instead of having to wait for one to finish & the search is awesome. I had to reset my HD7 because of the failed connection error & had everything re-installed in like 30 mins. Something I must have changed in the reg or some app(s) must have been causing the failed connection.
Works great for me. The only thing that doesn't work is the messaging feature with windows messenger. Didn't try Facebook and twitter, however. All in all its still pretty stable for beta use.

Thanks for the info. I think I will reset my phone this weekend and give it another try and after installing the beta I will reinstall the apps. Did you experience any freezing? It seems to me that sometimes it hangs a while for example when scroling the tiles.

Nope, it's been running smooth for me.
Few apps didnt work like the registry ones but like someone already said, its because mango does not allow apps to be sideloaded that access outside the allowed API's.
Other sideloaded apps worked fine though I think mango is great even in its beta stage.
Has anyone been able to keep the phone chevron unlocked when upgrading to mango. Tried the bat files from windowsphonehacker but my phone was locked after the update.
Do the other files keep the phone unlocked after update. Ive been trying to google them for the past couple of hours and I cant find them. Obviously Im not googling the right words.
Anyways should I continue looking or is it all for not if the phone relocks itself anyway. I have an idea if both relocks the phone but I dont want to waste my time looking for the files. Since to unlock I gotta go all the way back to pre-nodo.... Already did it twice...lol

When you install the beta, do you lose your files, texts, music,... or is it like any other update?
i updated my phone to mango and all seems great no issues what so ever live messenger works fine you can even make your own ringtones. I dont have my device unlocked and i didnt loose any info durring the upgrade
I have this update for like 5 days.
Overall experience is good.
OS is running smooth, but apps aren't - Facebook, foursquare.
I've found a dozen of bugs for the moment ( I'm a QA engineer for a software company ) but the most annoying is the one that keep rebooting the phone after 2-5 minutes of browsing the net, with an application or browser.
That's deff a big issue that will force me too downgrade. Hope for a new build soon as the mango update is pretty slick
Running good for a day now, no issues so far

Well i updated my HTC Hub but the LiveTile still doesent show the temperature!?
Can any one confirm this (in germany)? :-(
I confirm that the live tile doesn't update with the HTC Hub v2.2
It seems to be a specific on HD2.
Waiting for a solution and on this time, i use Hub NOW from Samsung.
The new hub only updates when opened and live tile shows temperature and location (at least for me it does) but we lost the ability to choose how often it updates.

u need to install the htc media stream as well in order for it to work on hd2. I've got it running fine ... sorry can't remember the link but should come up in a search.
Getting really tired of seeing "device not supported" now, some of it is due to the compass but i just paid for Gmaps Pro only to see that message yet again when trying to login to the latitude site through the browser.

The right way would be through Chevron WP7 labs, costs $9. Then, you can deploy XAPs, interop unlock, etc.
i did all that and bought the token and it says its unlocked, how can i tell? isnt there a number i can dial to check to see if it is dev unlocked?
I don't believe there is a way to verify it other than than to try and sideload an app. Gotta have faith.

I Chevron-unlocked & interop-unlocked my Focus S yesterday, and sideloaded Advanced Configuration Tools, but I can't seem to get anything to work. Advanced Configuration Tools installs and runs just fine, but everytime I try to change theme colors (all I tried to do so far), I get a message that it "can't apply changes"!
There must be something different with this phone as opposed to the original Focus (which I was able to do these kinds of things without any problem at all) - i.e., different drivers, another layer of security, etc. Whatever it is, I'm anxious for someone to crack it, as all I really want to do is change my theme colors - the original ones get REALLY boring after a while!

I haven't been able to get any xap that changes registry settings to work. Must be a problem with second gen phones.

[GUIDE] Using Samsung Gear Fit with Nexus 5

i made a video explaining how to use the Fit on the Nexus 5. this also may work with other phones im unsure.
mediafire.com/folder/05n572epblf4v/Gear_Fit_Nexus
youtu.be/Sk0vsx6k-cU
download those files
install GR.gearmanagerstub.apk
then install gear fit update 1.25.apk
open the app and pair the fit. it should connect. you can use it like this but the update ads a few features like screen rotation.
now you need to get a samsung phone that is compatible and update the fit to 1.49
now you uninstall GR.gearmanagerstub.apk and gear fit update 1.25.apk
now install gearfitmanager1.49update.apk and gearfitinstaller.apk and pair your device. everything should be working perfectly.
i am also claiming the first nexus 5 working with the gear fit

I haven't figured out how it get that working yet. It force closes right away. Nor have I figured out weather. But if you have a problem with notifications just go to settings > security > notification settings and enable it for the gear fit manager. Also still can't figure out how to change the time to 12h instead of 24h.

That's awesome man. Crazy world, I discovered a very similar process with my HTC One M8 and M7. I just sideloaded the apps downloaded from Samsung's App Store onto the M8 and M7. Connected the Gear Fit and it worked. Only thing I couldn't get working was quick reply and alarm notifications. Just goes to show that it's totally possible though. Great work! I hope Samsung decides to open this up to other devices officially.

Hey dude! First thread I've found that got things working more or less! Good job and congrats on your mad ninja hacker skilz!
Question 1: Where's the video link? I'd love to see it.
Next... I just went through loading 1.25 and pairing as you described. Amazing! It worked! WooHoo!! Thanks!
During the loading process my Gear Fit decided it wanted to update it's firmware over Bluetooth.
After the update, the Gear Fit says "Software Version R350XXU0ANCF" .
Question 2: Do I still need to track down a Samsung phone and do more upgrading for the Fit's firmware or do you think it's already updated it's self as much as it needs and I can install 1.49 now?
I did try to install the 1.49 apk but at that point things fell apart and no more pairing. I went back to 1.25 and all was well. I hear 1.29 also works.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk0vsx6k-cU&feature=youtu.be thats the video its in the OP.
my fit firmware is R350XXU0BND8 which i am pretty sure is a newer version because my fit works with the app version 1.49. if there is no option to rotate the screen in the settings on the fit then you are not on the newest version.
also im pretty sure you heard that 1.29 works from me in another post. that was a typo, as far as i know there is no 1.29.
Thank you very much. I tried it out and it works!
I can also install and open the lite version of S Health. But how can i sync it now? I can't login with a Samsung account. Wh i click on the login button, nothing happens....
Thanks again.
Wohooo, you are great. I could follow your steps.
I have only 2 problems:
a) I have no supported device to upgrade the Fit to 1.49 - will have to ask around in office if somebody has a supported Galaxy. Anyway, it would be great if we could manage to get the upgrading function working so we are independent of any special device requirements... not sure, what's missing here, because as somebody earlier mentioned: when pairing it with 1.25 the first time, it downloads a huge firmware update and pushes it to the Fit who afterwards reboots... but either it didn't work or it is not 1.49
b) Have the same problem with the S-Health lite - it can be started, but it is not able to logon to a Samsung account or sync with the Fit
Anyway, this is a huge progress so far. I bought my Fit today. It was released yesterday and only one single store had it on stock - when I found your thread, I immediately rushed to the store
Thank you so much for all the details you figured out so far.

Thank you very much. I tried it out and it works!

I couldn't get it to sign in or sync either unfortunately. I'm working on it though.

Thank you so much for all the details you figured out so far.

a) try going to bestbuy or another store that has them on display. They won't bother you about it. The guys at my store were trying to help! And the firmware update to 1.25 isn't an update. Its part of the fitmanager apk. There's also a firmware update in the 1.49 apk that is different. Originally I was trying to move the firmware from the new one to the old one but it wasn't working so I decided to just go to bestbuy and do it with their phones.
b) it doesn't work for me either. Neither does weather. But I'm still working on it.
And I bought my fit when it came out. I got it at the att store. At that point I didn't even know of it would work with the nexus but I decided it would be worth a shot and if I couldn't do it or someone else couldn't either then I'd just return it.
Also to the other question about notifications. Did you try to enable notification sharing in settings?
Hehe, I am really thankful that you tried and posted. You were the reason I dared to buy it. I'm from Germany, so no Best Buy. But not a problem, I work in a huge software company and there are several of these devices for internal tests available, so I may get a grip on one of them tomorrow to do the update. I am so interested to check the sleep tracker.
Notifications works for me like charm. Caller notification worked immediately, for the rest you can enable the general notifications and choose all applications you'd like to receive notifications from. I tried it with WhatsApp, it worked immediately, even showing the text including Chinese characters which are tricky. I am really happy.
As I can workaround the FW upgrade issue myself, my biggest dream would be to get the S-Health app working as this is the way to check your data and statistics. I am happy that the big display also lets you read most of this data, so it is not a total show stopper for now. We must keep in mind that it might happen that we never get the Samsung tools working. They are using TouchWiz stuff and Samsung accounts. So Samsung also would possibly not being happy that people not using their devices (that might also cross-finance the cloud servers) could use their infrastructure and trying to hinder this.

Samsung should be happy we're buying their smartwatches. i dont know if theres a way to get touchwiz on the nexus, but if you could it would probably be possible to get everything working.
is anyones working with alarms set on your phone? i cant get that to work either.
At least I can confirm: having connected it with a Samsung Galaxy S3 and Gear Fit Manager 1.49, it immediately downloaded a new FW for the Fit and now GFM 1.49 can connect to the Gear Fit and sleep tracking is also available now. Great!
would you guys say this is usable enough to buy?
Depends. For me it is. If you are not interested in alarms to wake you up and can help yourself by borrowing a compatible Samsung phone to make the firmware update and receive new functionality like sleep tracking, then you only will face one important issue:
you cannot sync the measured data to your phone, as this is done by S-Health which currently does not work. The Fit with its big display can still show you all relevant data and also historical data, so that is not a 100% no-go. But for the people who like to browse through fitness stats of past months on an app or in a browser, this is still a show stopper.
