Note 3 speaker volume - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I trying to figure out if the issue I am having with the volume on my external speaker is a note 3 thing or my handset. On my S4 I had significantly more volume. I'm not even talking about speaker quality just volume. On my S4 I could use the navigation with the radio on and have no problem hearing it, with the note 3 I have trouble hearing the navigation with the radio off and just driving on the highway. I also have issue hearing speakerphone. Maximum volume is 15 anything below 9 I almost can't hear at all.

Yeah the speaker quality is not good at all. I'm quite sure it was better on my Note 2.

Funny. I had the exact same problem on my S4 but not on my note 3.

Phone speaker

Does anyone else think that the phone speaker is quiet when you're talking to someone? Is plenty loud on speaker phone and during a movie but the in call volume is really quiet even at the max.
I noticed this too. I was wondering if maybe I was just holding it wrong because I noticed that if I held the phone a tad lower on my ear than normal, it was louder. I might just not be used to the premium size yet.
Any idea if this is software or hardware related? I'm thinking software because the music/video volume works just fine.
I'm having the same issue as well. I can barely hear people on the phone an ng i have to use speaker phone to hear them.
It's software. You can adjust the volumes accordingly in mixer_path.xml in /etc/

I think it gets loud and I'm a musician (aka deaf to a degree). I did notice the speaker phone only uses the top speaker though. Though it's plenty loud too
Anyone else with this problem. Mine is less than normal at the highest volume. Not sure if I should replace, my x2014 is loud! Have to have decent volume at my age

HD Voice
People still make phone calls?
Is this a case of HD Voice?

Never modified the volume before, are there specific values I need to use? Also I'm guessing I need root to do this?
I actually factory reset mine/unencrypted it and the sound in call actually sounds normal. Kinda odd.
Me either! my phone speaker is so low when start calling someone even in highest volume. Any possible fix ??

I would also like to know if this is possible to fix this issue.
i'm experiencing the same behaviors on my AT&T N6 (rooted/decrypted). i'm waiting for my 64GB version from T-Mobile to see if it's my phone. it would be nice if this could be addressed via updates to the mixer_path.xml.
I have the T-Mobile 64GB (Root/Encrypted), volume low as well,
I use volume+ (pay version), still low.
32 gb Google Play version here, and I can confirm that my earpiece volume is extremely low on max.
IIRC this should be fixable via a custom kernel.
My At&t version is very low as well. I thought it would be loud considering the speakers. I hope there is a update soon.

[Q] Nexus 6 Audio Questions....

I just recently bought a Nexus 6, and not to long after I bought it my phones volume started to get very low. When I was on a phone call and switched to speaker, the phone starts the audio off as low, but then gets higher after a few seconds. Now when I listen to music or watch netflix, the audik starts off high at full volume, but then goes very low as if the phone had a Automatic Leveler. Is there anyone way to fix this ?

you are on stock? i didnt experience it on stock, but did on aosp. on aosp its a bug, that was fixed by a few developers.
Im pretty shocked by the nexus 6 speakers.
1. Speaker phone only works on the top speaker.
2. Anything from the lowest volume till about 2/3rds is nicley scaled then it just jumps in loudness in the last 3 to 4 clicks.
3. The stock sound is shocking bad ! Sounds like they forgot to balance bass and treble.
4. My headphone jace only seems to work with some jacks, an aux lead refuses to work in all 3 of my work vans and my old HTC headsets but works with iphone headsets and some of my aony headsets ( these all worked in my N5 )
5. Where the freekin' EQ ! Really google cant make a EQ letalone a good camera app !!!!
I am on stock. No root, no unlocked bootloader.
The funny thing is, when in place my hand over the front camera lens, and curved around the front, the volume goes back up as if there was a auto level function. If I take my hand off of that speaker, it goes back down because I am in a quite room. Something's not right with that..
I'm not rooted and I have similar issues. When I get phone calls or texts the volume starts out really low then gets high and I can't stand it. Seems to have just started doing this. Same thing when I'm talking to someone, I get a call, I answer it and I can barely hear them then 1 or 2 seconds later it's fine. Driving me crazy. Would love to get this fixed.

Note 9 notification sound low

Have you guys noticed that notification sounds are only played on the bottom speaker?
Same way with the S9/S9+... Never understood why they did that.
It's also quieter than my s9+, too.
Anyone find the earpiece volume lower than the note 8?

I use a short laser SMS custom notification and I have to keep notification volume at 50% of people get scared it's so loud. I haven't used the stock ones.

Anyway to improve (loudness) speaker phone volume ?

I picked up a USA unlocked note 9 recently. The sound volume is mostly fine for most things (including notifications). However, the speaker phone is very soft. Is there anyway to boost the volume on the speaker phone ? I hear the s10+ is better but i just got this thing so would like to find a work around if one exists.
There's a few audio boosters in the playstore. Would advise to be cautious and don't go overboard.

Terrible ear speaker quality. Anyone else?

Maybe I have a bad ear speaker. At max volume it is extremely difficult to hear someone while driving on the highway let alone in a noisy environment. And at max volume the speaker sounds like an aluminum can with strings. If you lower the volume two clicks, you get a more robust/fuller sound.
I am regretting sending my pixel 4xl back for a credit. I am ok with the remainder of the phone, but I literally have to use a headset almost 100% of the time unless it's a quiet environment.
Anyone else experiencing this or is my phone defective?
Not anyone. EVERYONE! [emoji3525]

The Google Pixel 5 uses an headphone speaker that is under the glass (similar to Kyocera's Sonic Sound) I've noticed it too.
However, this is how the phone is built.
