Obviously you haven't even experienced this device yet.
I have used it for the past four days and I find it quite useful actually.
Seeing notifications on the watch, after feeling the vibration on the wrist, rather than reaching for the phone constantly, really is useful.
Taking snap shots of photos using the Gear is quite handy and useful.
Using the Gear as a phone while using two hands is quite useful.
Timer/Stop Watch/Voice Memo functions are quite useful and readily available on your wrist, rather than wielding the smartphone, is also useful.
Extending the battery life of the smartphone because you don't turn it on as often to check the time or messages, is quite helpful.
Too many pundits offering opinions rather than facts based on experience...

No really, I check my mail, chat with people(Facebook & Skype), update my status and troll my fellas in Facebook, check my sub box in YouTube, read news(when I'm really bored), discuss with people in forums and so on. Actually I don't spend much time on computer,I can do all those with my phone.

Nexus Excitement

I know many are just excited as I am about the N4 so I want to talk about all the good things about it. Is anyone else more anxious about the phone because of the lack of the press event? I find myself checking every couple hours for a good hands on video to admire. Ahhh, the nexus butterflies all over again

The only hands on videos are from reviewers at a Google demo. Actual review units have been sent out already apparently. We will have to wait until the NDA lifts to see the results though and I imagine it will not be until the week of release.

I think separately looking on what you get in the box on the play store page. When the verge did their video it was still in prototype.

Thanks for the video. Friday's almost here!
I didn't realize they put the power button on the top left. That's a weird spot to put it...I do like that they put the proximity sensors on the left side of the front. That is a major design flaw on my s3 at the moment (every time I'm on a phone call and I try to swipe down notifications, screen will turn off since it registers my thumb.)

This was the same problem with the EVO 4G LTE. I'd always end up tripping the proximity sensor when I swiped down the notification bar during calls and what not. I like the new position, and it adds a little more industrial aspect to the overall look of the handset.

explicit, how is that battery holding up?
Also, it might be a network issue, but my LTE would have trouble with incoming texts that are more than 160 chars. So I would receive the 2nd text first, then the initial text would come in second. (When one long text gets broken down into 2). I was wondering if the One did this too.

Seems like Samsung is listening to owners

I just got recruited for a U.S. study of Gear owners.
Sounds pretty standard - Samsung are trying to figure out to how make things better and paying $200 to participants willing to give Galaxy Gear feedback for about 2 weeks.
Not sure how many they're taking but I spoke to a Jairo Rojas at the research company they hired at 818-530-1004 if anyone wants to get in on it. I got recruited because I also did a focus group in Los Angeles a while back.
Seems pretty cool way to make Gear better and make a little side cash..

I am too old and cynical for this. Could be true, but if they ask for too much personal information, or money, then stay away, is what I would recommend.
If all turns out great, then that would be wonderful, but this is the Internet we are talking about, so be wary.

I know I got recruited because I participated in the past in focus groups with this company in LA so I know they're legit. While not a much fun as beer focus groups, I thought it relevant to share since we all want to see Gear get better.
I'm sure Google is doing similar things with Glass owners, etc. Plus the money never hurts as well.

many companies are giving a call and asking how did you like their product or service. does it mean they care about customers?
not really. this is the illusion of care...
Focus group are a thing of the past.
Acceleration and Innovation comes with putting a release out there and, test and learn which is what happening with gear 1,and the manager platform.
Samsung is learning now, real time, as everyone uses the products. Gear2 will be a great version. They will pack as much crap in there as they can because, it's setting the bar for the rest of wearable tech.

I have some reservations about this statement. This is not the case, as they are trying to keep this product in a certain price point. As with most tech, small and incremental improvement, ie "refinements" are more likely on the future horizon.

XDA Pro App - laggy and slow

This app is always really unresponsive, especially in first use. Trying to scroll a page can cause freezes for a few seconds.
Not seeing this with any other function. Stock Google factory build with Franco kernel running stock settings.
I bought the app for simplicity and speed over having to use a browser but the browser is normally faster?
Ideas?
Its junk and I would never pay for it. I prefer XDA desktop in Dolphin browser!
XDA app is really weak. You can try tapatalk, but it's also slow while scrolling, etc. Just poor coded apps from what I've been told. You can try tweaking your system to improve performance in the app, but it won't be perfect.
aosp browser with xda only, no apps needed nor wanted. always fast this way
I've said a million times the only reason I use Tapatalk is because there aren't any alternatives. XDA app is pretty much the same thing.
I cant complain about app, its works, notification works fast, no problems, sometimes kinda slow loading, but never crash
Good to know. Surprising given the skill of many people on this forum, a simple app like this should be perfect..... They have my money so too late for me! Back to the browser.

Tapatalk isn't made by XDA. The XDA app is also just a branded and licensed Tapatalk client. No apps are "perfect" either, regardless whoever created it.

Looking foward to the new app however; it's obvious the current one is lacking and far behind
