Wireless Charging case - G2 Accessories

Anyone hear anything about a case that can enable wireless charging/Qi for the G2 that is non-Verizon? I heard in Europe they are getting something like that but any updates or news that you heard of please share!

Good luck.

Well in Europe LG has decided to launch Verizon LG G2 with wireless charging case and it will be only for Verizon carriers....and not for others so its quite unfair with the other carriers and dnt knw why LG is biased with other carriers.....aah thats not fair.....

someone should just start making a case/batt case with wireless charging tapped in, wouldn't be too hard and the receivers are thin as hell

thats a nice idea - but what would it plug into? there are no contacts for a wireless charging case to actually get the voltage into the phone on my International G2.
I don't see how LG will ever make one to be honest..

Just a heads up, the new dodge dart has a qi pad in it and u can buy a thing that plugs into the charging port and sticks to a case and charges via a qi pad, however they r not available yet but will be soon. Not much details other than a pic and description during training but it looks promising as sine kind of generic device. It appears to stick to the back of a tpu type case and they show it on an iphone and what looked like an s3/note2 possibly, but it was a goofy footprint shaped maybe 1/8" thick thing shaped like a snowman with two circles one the size of a quarter and the other a little bigger than a Eisenhower with a wraparound piece that plugged into the micro plug. It doesn't look horrible but definitely weird and doesn't explain any details like how it deals with an upside down Jack or phone thicknesses. They also list a couple other case styles such as a silicone jacket looking thing on an iphone and a Jack that went to a small square pad. Its to drop with the 14 dart, which we are ordering now. Just saw it today though.

Most websites say the same about not a qi device, but the new Avalon is an actual qi charger. Our training did not elaborate, so no word on compatibility from Chrysler

I'd assume there would be a way to direction charge the battery and bypassing the phone, but Idk maybe extra chargeplates on the batt itself? no idea..thats beyond me

what about this one?

Looks interesting, but I couldn't find it in any shop.
I found this one instead on ebay: Type A Micro USB Qi Wireless Universal Charger Tag Receiver Coil For LG G2 New
Maybe with this you can build your own Qi Case with any standard case. I bought one and will report if and how it works.

Hmm, that's pretty cool. Didn't know they made those, that makes it quite a bit easier.
I found one which seems quite a bit cheaper and doesn't include a case, ect.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Q...l_Phone_PDA_Chargers&var=&hash=item2584a5f312
Who wants to give it a try lol..

I really wish LG would come out with something by now. The phone has been out for a while and they should have released the case they announced by now.

I just ordered one of these. That said, because I have no existing charging mats/plates around, I'll have to order some right away. Since this solution uses the usb port, that means unlike native solutions, I cannot both charge by cable and by wireless. I'll have to completely switch over to wireless for the most part.
So did any of the earlier posters end up getting any of these? Any feedback?

Let us know how it works, I'll probably bite the bullet and get one too. Which one did you order?

The only problem with that is, you would have to unplug it if you wanted to plug the phone into a pc and say transfer files. Sure there are wireless means of doing that, but some people would rather a physical connection to transfer.

sure, but there is no other way since lg decided to make wireless charging Verizon only... And I hate wires anyway so to me it's not a problem at all.

With how often I really do that since LTE is faster than residential comcast, I'd rather just unplug the charger when I needed to. Anything I need on or off my phone is generally just synced to dropbox because that's where I'm gonna need it anyways.

I was skeptical that it included the cover as it didn't specify but it did ask me to pick a colour, so we'll see, heh.

No, this is the one that was released at launch, this is the one that also causes the non-responsive screen issues on the Incredible.
I'm a bit peeved Incredible isn't getting any fancy docks like the Moto Droid got, and Seidio cancelled there desk/car/innotraveler docks.
why aren't they more readily available?

That i couldn't say because i have no idea
i just know that Verizon has done a poor job at marketing/supporting this phone. not only did they botch the launch there not even trying to get accessory support nor are they marketing it as much as they are Moto Droid
They r said to vamp up the marketing once the phone is back n stock. I have a friend who is a regional manager at vzw and he says as soon as they start shipping again the are going to have a huge push for this phone. He already has new window posters and a stock pile of t shirts for when try start shipping again. No point in advertising something that u don't have to sell n the first place right?

Twice as expensive though.
What is it that makes the phone decide it's 'docked' ??
When I plug my phone in to a micro-usb charger (or a micro-usb cable hooked up to a PC), then go to
Clock -> Dock Settings -> Audio
I still see the message 'Phone not docked', even though the phone is charging.
Does the phone have to be sync'ing with some software on a PC before it decides it's truly docked? Or does the cradle have some circuitry to deliver a message that tells the phone it is docked? I thought the cradle was simply a charger.
Still out of stock! It says "will be available from 25-th Feb" and now it is already 1st! Quite sad, as there are no other docks around.

Hi,
Where are you ordering the dock from? Is it from oddsandpods.com?
Just googled them and the reviews dont seem very favourable.
Could you please give us some feedback on how their service has been?
Thanks
I've just received information:
"Thank you for your order. Your order has been passed to the warehouse for picking and will be dispatched within 2 days. Should we be unable to send your order on time we will email you to advise of any delay."
When (if) dock arrive, I'll try to post some pictures and write a little bit about service.
Ordered from Odds and Pods on 24th Feb, not received it yet or getting any order updates! really not happy with these guys!

Official Samsung Galaxy Note 3 S-View Wireless Charging Cover (Where to buy?))

So I have seen all the posts for the cases but can't seem to find anywhere in the US that has any info on when they will be available. I know last year when I got my N2 the folio cases were available in the store that day. I called a few ATT stores and all they have is the incipio case that doesn't offer wireless charging. Does anyone have any info on these Samsung brand cases?
This site shows them "due in 2-3 weeks" http://www.mobilefun.com/40790-offi...-3-s-view-wireless-charging-cover---black.htm
No luck my friend I can't find it either. I don't think I've seen such a premature phone release when it comes to accessories for this phone.

Yeah I'm really disappointed with the lack of accessories! I don't want to buy a regular case and then turn around and purchase a wireless charging case 2-3 weeks later.... Ended up selling my AT&T Note 3 in favor of the T-mo n900t, already running a custom rom and on att lte
I'm sorta miffed, too. I think they want to see how the phone will do before they start churning out accessories. I can't figure out why they don't add features without changing the form factor, at least as far as legacy compatibility is concerned.
I ordered a $4 TPU case and a Skinomi (wet application) screen protector. I like to have a cheap (or just durable) backup case option for camping, and for the possibility of getting a new device under insurance because of theft or total destruction. But still, this is a lot of weeks to be waiting for a feature included on their previous release. And for the time being: this (as of 10 Oct, 2013) http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Qi-Wireless-charging-Receiver-Charger-Adapter-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-3-III-/321228364804?pt=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Chargers&hash=item4acab3dc04
tell me about it, im waiting for the protective cover+
I ordered wireless charging kit here (presumably shipped, but I didn't get it yet):

only much easier without having to tap into the USB port. I got two for my "old" S3 for about US$12 each. If my measurements are right, I'm just going to snip the space between the two contacts and stick it in sideways on the Note3 battery, slightly too high, but not enough to let the coils be too off. I usually don't post my hacks, but if this one works and does it before anything gets released, or if everything released is still as expensive as it is now, I might.

So, really essentially, inductive charging is spinning magnets hopping up a copper coil so much it sends the extra energy into the battery as an electrical charge (I imagine with some other metals it might've been heat). Hopefully the coil doesn't have to be too precisely placed to get enough charge.
I'm seriously thinking about investing in Neodymium mining.
I aslo went to the Tmo store today. It's a little one. They had one S-View cover without inductive charging for US$60. The guy, who had one (no Qi) on his new Note3, indicated on a spreadsheet on the "register" screen that the inductive charging ones will be $70 only at the Sammy (Tmo has dedicated Samsung centers)) stores, and I only saw black (BLK).
I really want to see what color the "red" one is. I saw it listed as "pink" somewhere, but I imagine they might have had it mixed up with the light pink (more of a dirt-magnet than the white IMHO) because a lot of the photos of them look rather pinkish or maroonish. I've seen a couple of shots of branded flip covers that look really (really) red, some that look almost brick, and of course a bunch I might call magenta only because I think it's a word to describe a color without another descriptor (that Tmo borrowed because actually calling it what it is, Hot Pink, completely alienates about 50% of its clientele).
Anyone see any color out there?

yes you could but the s view functions wouldnt work with the 2 pin receivers and i dont know if it will even work with the 3 pin receivers.
please note that the n3 has 3 ins at the back near the wireless charging and 2 for nfc but of the 3 pins only top 2 are for wireless charging and the third is for s view functions colour changing of screen etc as far as my info goes.
will let you know in a few days as i have orders pending delivery for official and generic types and will test them out with several of my wireless chargers. my orders have been delayed 2-3 times already and dont know when they will come as have placed them a while back. it doesnt seem to be in stock anywhere.
You are correct.
You are correct i got one of the stickers and a wireless charger and have the regular s-view case and the case no longer works, im wondering if i can somehow solder the contacts togeter without messing it up but for 11 bucks the wireless charging does work pretty well. Through the galaxy charge app im getting around 650 not the 1800 i would get from the 3.0. However i dont have to worry about plugging it in or messing up my port now. will keep you informed.

So the foil trick did not work, or at least i could not get it to work as the foil yanked off one of the contacts on the charger. It looks like the sview uses the bottom two and the charger uses the top two. I sometimes wish i never watched macgyver as a kid. But it still works just no sview functions but i really didnt use it much anyways as you are stuck with stock samsung music apps.

Good dock?

Has anyone found a good dock yet? I found a few on Amazon but none of them are specifically for the g2.

Did you search before starting this thread? I think not. This has been asked several times.
Are you looking for a car dock or one for home? Truth is, there are not very many made specifically for the G2. And the generic ones are pretty much crap in my opinion.
Yeah I did actually but all I could find were threads about a car dock but I'm looking for a home dock.

There is a nice desktop dock by LG, but sadly it's only for Verizon

why would you need a dock? I've always been confused about that. what good is a dock?

So when I'm laying in bed or at my desk I can just grab my phone without having to worry about it getting unplugged and looking for the charger, I can simply just set it back on the dock after im done.

I just use a wireless charging pad. I'd imagine the Nexus 4 & 5, and Galaxy s3 and and st docks might work. a centered USB port is really all you need if you're looking for a dock that plugs in

why is this verizon only? the charging port is in the same spot on the other models. I thought the verizon model would use wireless charging. but since this has a port it should technically work for any model right?
I think it is because Verizon's G2 has different dimensions @[email protected]

i read elsewhere on here that the dimensions were not all that different. but still at $40 for a charging dock Ill just get some plexiglass and a heat gun and make my own
It's funny how you think $40 is expensive for a dock. Here in Denmark that price makes me want to get two or three x)

Agreed. I paid almost $100 with shipping to get a POGO dock for my GNex. I stream Pandora all day at work so being able to just pick my phone up and go is super convient and not have to worry about the audio plug also.
Just ordered the VZW Dock.

Plexiglass, hot glue, some weight in bottom, Qi Pad internal, NFC tag or correct magnet placements for dock app, profit.

Well 2 things. The dock doesn't do media only charges/data transfer so I still have to manually disconnect the audio plug which kind of sucks.
Secondly I do not know anyone has the G2 other then on VZW. So mail me yours and I will try it out.

Anywhere to buy Inductive Charging Cover?

The USB port on my Droid 4 is wearing out. Considering replacing it, but really would be fine to use an inductive charger. But - I can't find anywhere that still has the inductive charging covers still in stock. Anyone know of a source? Or if anyone has an old one they'd be willing to part with...
Same Boat as you
i was in the same boat as you a few months ago. I was looking for a wireless charging cover and the verizon store used to carry it but it is discontinued.
Ebay is the next option to find these charging covers however you have to check everyday and the price is 49.99 not including shipping.
So what I did was simply bought another droid 4. It only costs 75-90 for a brand new droid 4. One of the best decisions that I've ever made with a phone. Titanium backup made the transfer flawless. =)

I did a little searching, couldn't find it anywhere either. It's likely that Motorola only did a limited manufacturing run (unpopular phone and all) and resellers finally ran out of stock a while back.
At this point, you might need to grab an insert pad and install it yourself, or have a crafty friend do it for you. This has the added bonus of keeping the same backplate (and thus the same profile and texture) while getting wireless charging. It's cheaper than getting the official backplate would be, too: the needed kit can be bought for $9 these days on eBay.
@andrewwski I'm looking at the picture of this and can not see the difference but nonetheless
