[Q] Can't receive 4.2 OTA update - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm a proud owner of a HTC One M7 International Unlocked U.S and so far I coudn't upgrade it to Android 4.2 via OTA (it's still running the stock 4.1). How can I proceed in order to get it running version 4.2? Is it possible to update it to Android 4.2 via USB? Is root needed in order to do that? Thank you very much.

What software build are you on at the moment?

EddyOS,
The software number is 1.36.599.1 and Android Version 4.1.2

Going by this thread (which I found by searching, something you should become familiar with ) there seem to be other on the same build saying there are things missing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43272550
Should point you in the right direction

This another thread is not related to the updates but it helped me understood this version is for LATAM (Mexico) and probably it's the cause I'm not receiving the update via OTA. Any options left?

[Q] About upgrade to 2.3.5 and sense 3.0

Hi!! I'm from Venezuela, I bought my Incredible S S710e unlocked from amazon.com. My question is: will I be able to upgrade OTA? I've seen that many people have got the update already and I don't know if I can. or how can I get it.
Since my phone is not from Venezuela what can I do to get this upgrade.. my phone is stock.
Does this upgrade depends on the country where the phone was made? Or where its been used? Becouse I think HTC doesn't support Venezuela.
Sorry for my English, I hope you understand my doubt and help me..
Thank you!!

If you have a S710E unlocked and it is running Gingerbread version 2.30.405.1, then you should be able to go to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Updates and push the Check Now button and you should get the OTA update notification.
If not, then you could try installing the 3.08.405.3 RUU using a goldcard.
sure u want to upgrade to sense 3?

2.3.3 is the version of Android, 2.30.xxx and 3.08.xxx are the HTC ROM versions.
If you go to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Information, it will show you both the Android version and the Software number.
This thread has a link to the official HTC ROMs that have been made available:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033922
3.08.405.3 is the latest one and corresponds Android version 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0

If you took OTA then it probably updated firmware as well, which from what I understand breaks TouchPanel for the older ROMs.
Unless someone comes out with a patch for their 4.1/4.2 roms to make touch panel work with new firmware, I don't think the touch panels going to work...

[Q] HTC One Developer Edition Updated to 4.3 but not with Sense 5.5

Hi,
I recently bought HTC One developer edition using in India,
Received the Android 4.3 Jellybean Update after 2 minor updates of 17.2mb and 17.6mb, after update i came to know it still have the older version of sense i.e 5.0. Currently the device has Software version 3.22.1540.1.(see the attached screenshot). Also I have seen the devices running 4.3 with sense 5.5 have software version 3.62.401.1
So Please help me understand what went wrong with the updates and help me to get sense 5.5 update.
Thanks
Nothing went wrong, the US versions are Sense 5.0 (they got Android 4.3 before everybody else). I suspect you'll get Sense 5.5 or newer with Android 4.4 early next month.
you can always flash a custom rom .
Try Android Revolution . it is pretty good with sense 5.5

It was from my understanding that the Dev. edition is the same everywhere. There is no US Developer edition.
About the Sense 5.5, I do know that not every HTC One has Android 4.3 and Sense 5.5. There are Android 4.3 and Sense 5.5, and Android 4.3 and Sense 5.0 firmwares out there. There is nothing wrong with your update. I know the US versions don't have Sense 5.5 yet: just like BenPope stated. LoL!! It was funny typing your name.

There might not be a "US Developer edition", but the LTE bands are for AT&T & TMobile in the USA, and it's only sold in the States; take away from that what you will.
The Developer Edition is currently using 4.3 with Sense 5.0. The European phones received Sense 5.5, but the Developer Edition is a US phone. Not a bad thing. You'll be getting Android 4.4 before everybody else I suspect, and likely with Sense 5.5 or newer.
Thank you folks for your reply
I have contacted HTC India, they told me to contact HTC USA So @No_Nickname90 i guess there is a US Dev Edition.
Contacted HTC USA, told them the problem and they asked me to go to htcdev.com for the update which i'm looking for.(didn't find the update "software version 3.62.401.1" for HTC dev edition)
So this was the reply from them.
I am sorry to know you did not find the kernel source code you were looking for; we will release source code in accordance with any applicable open source license terms. We are working to release appropriate kernel code bases as soon as possible after device launch but we cannot guarantee the exact time frame. Other source codes, which are not required to be disclosed by the open source license terms, unfortunately cannot be disclosed by HTC as they may be proprietary to HTC or its licensor.
If you're using the developer edition software, you'd have to convert it to use the European version (3.62.401.1) that you mentioned. You could do it and get Sense 5.5 with some work, or you can wait 1-2 weeks and HTC will be updating the Developer Edition over the air with even newer software. If you convert to the European version, you'll be waiting longer for Android 4.4.
Remember, they are still the same phone on a hardware level. So if your Dev Edition is working correctly with your carrier, just wait for the update that is rolling out very soon.
If you want to convert, you'll need to use Rumrunner to get S-Off, change the CID to HTC__001 and the MID to PN710000, downgrade bootloader to v 1.44, downgrade the touchscreen firmware, then flash the European software to your phone. Once done, you should receive the OTA update to Android 4.3 with Sense 5.5. It's a lot of work for a small (and temporary) gain. Another option is to use TWRP and a Guru Reset file from http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/ Make sure to flash the stock recovery and radio when doing that so you receive future updates. For that method, you still need to be S-Off, CID HTC__001, and MID PN710000.
My recommendation is to leave it the way it is. If you convert, you'll be back here in two weeks disappointed that you have to wait for Android 4.4.

As far as I understand (which isn't very much, to be honest), you probably can't flash the ATT version to your phone. But if you're interested in rooting your phone and all that, you can probably flash different ROMs that will keep you up to date with the newest Android releases, like CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, AOKP, OmniROM, etc. I don't have all the technical know-how, and I won't tell you which ROMs are "best" or even which are available; you can always check out the Android Development section for that stuff.
push
can anyone give me some information about that

[Q] NFC Lollipop Crash on M7

Hi
NFC was not working after updating to lollipop -> It is allways crashing when reading a card.
I had to downgrade Android to 4.4.3 For having it working.
I would like to know if an lollipop ROM works with NFC correctly ?
My system :
HTC One M7
Android : 4.4.3
HTC Sence : 6.0
Version software 4.0.4
Nivel API de HTC SDK 6.25
(insert COin)
Did you uprade the Firmware to the latest version? Im talking about the Firmware not the Rom.
and did you a fullwipe in recovery before flashing Rom?
I dont have any issues with NFC.
Wich Firmware ? I'm not sure to understand you.
I had an official instalation of android until beeing automaticly updated to Lolilpop. From there, NFC is craching. So I looked how to downgrade and find a ROM "insertcoin-m7_4.0.4" that I had instaled.
Now it's working, but I would enjoy having a newer version for my HTC that works very well.
Coulod I instal any ROM I want with a correct firmware that works with NFC or is it coming with ROM ?
(Sorry for my little or absent knowledge, we are all newbies at the begining )
I red that in "github" :
I am thankful for your efforts ikarus. The day I upgraded to lollipop I contacted HTC as well and they told me they couldn't be sure if the error is caused by the firmware or the apps, even when I told them I had tried around 6 different apps from the store. I'm talking about one month ago. They said an official HTC app must be used to determine whether the NFC feature works or not but, ironically, there is not such official app. At the end they recommended to wait until the developers troubleshooted this but I think that at this point this very clear it is their firmware's fault.
I think you all would agree this is frustrating. One waits for an OS upgrade for months and when it comes things stop working. To make it even worse, the vendor announces there won't be more updates for M7 and you end up regretting to upgrade your phone. I even asked HTC fora way to revert to kit at, but they said it is not possible.
So, while they fix this, that will take months if they finally do it, do any of you know how to revert M7 to 4.4? Lollipop is rubbish anyway, for its battery consumption and it's there is no way to stop notifications vibration. I know this is a bit off topic, but I am desesperated here and could not find help in forums.
