Pebble freezes on android 4.3 cyanogenmod - Pebble

When I use runkeeper or freecaddie on cyanogenmod, the app freezes after about 5 seconds and pebble looses complete connection with my phone (Galaxy S4). I have to reboot in order to regain connection. I went back to TouchWiz Android 4.2.2 and the pebble apps work perfectly. Anyone know what the issue here is? Is Android 4.3 compatible with the pebble?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 4

I am able to use my pebble without issue on my Nexus7 running a CM Kang 4.3 without issue. Both RunKeeper and FreeCaddie look to be working fine.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4

I'm using cm10.2 on my htc dna. No problems that describe. Runkeeper has been working great, ran 5.8 miles yesterday. Pebble didn't disconnect.
Also enjoying the "pebble notifications" app that works with android 4.3, it dismisses notifications on the phone from the pebble, so I don't have duplicate notifications.
When I tried some other watch apps awhile ago (still on a sense based rom), that had a lot of communication going on (pebble dialer or music boss), I did experience problems with Runkeeper. I started thinking it might be too much communications over the serial bt protocol.
I haven't tried those apps while on cm10.2 yet.

pebble sports app freezes on cyanogenmod
I am having a similar problem on my Galaxy S4 (I9505).
The sports app on my pebble freezes after a few seconds. If I tap the middle button a couple of times then it usually triggers it to carry on refreshing data from runkeeper for about 30 seconds or so before it freezes again. The app doesn't freeze on my phone though.
Returning to the stock I9505 rom, or any other compatible TouchWiz-based rom restores the usual functionality.
I would love to find a way to fix this because I much prefer the leaner CyanogenMod.

No problems with CM. However, after couple of minutes will not show glance anymore, just switch to prev watchface.

I upgraded the Galaxy S4 to Gummy's 4.4 kitkat build and I get the same thing. After a few seconds runkeeper on the pebble freezes and the pebble itself will no longer communicate with the phone until I disconnect and reconnect.
It's not just CM. It's all ROM's. I've tried AOKP as well. The only thing that works is TW 4.2.2 ROMs

Seem to be fixed in latest nightly build of cyanogenmod
Had the same problem (S4), but upgrading to the latest nightly cyanogenmod seem to have fixed it. Have not done any extensive testing yet, but initial tests look promising.

Aww man...I glad you told me that before I tried to use that. I just got my pebble last weekend. Runkeeper integration was one of the things I was most looking forward to.
I have an S4 running Cheng's unofficial CM11. I tested, and it dies on me after 8 seconds.

Have you done any more testing? Which S4 variant do you have?

got the same problem

Runkeeper crashes on login on Galaxy Nexus with CM11
I'm also having trouble with the Runkeeper on KitKat CyanogenMod. I'm using the 12/9 nightly on a Verizon Galaxy Nexus. If I try to log into Runkeeper it crashes. In my case it doesn't effect the Pebble, maybe because I've never been able to log into Runkeeper to enable the Pebble connection (I just got the Pebble and I've already upgraded to CM11).

I was on the official stock 4.3 image, non rooted. Watching recieved snapchat videos would cause the phone to reboot every now and then. While charging with a USB cable, it would happen at least once every 10 minutes. It happened while the phone wasn't charging too, but not as often. Back on 4.2.2 Rasbeanjelly now until better kernels and custom ROMS come out for 4.3. Oh and I did a clean flash. Backed everything up and wiped everything, including the internal storage.
I just want to add that if you are using jawbone up band, that will not sync after 4.3 either. I have gone back to 4.2 for now

Not that I notice anything monumental on saving juice. Maybe, there would be a significant change once my S4 is on 4.3 JB cuz I know I can check notifications, use S-voice as it's meant to be and what not so less time unlocking the phone and screen usage... although phone's BT is running all the time so Gear could remain tethered to it but i believe it's BT 4.0 LE*, right?

Alright, so I have been tinkering with my watch and have a few questions. I have rooted my watch and installed busy box, and all is going well so far. Additionally, I am using my watch with my S4, rather than my Note 3. I wanted this topic to be more of a few questions and general discussion/clarification.
I have installed the newest Gear Manager and when I go to Weather on the watch I get "Add city to weather widget on mobile device" but it never seems to sync. I have added a location to the weather widget. Is this by chance just a feature thats not quite working on the S4 yet, or am I missing something?
Pedometer - When I try to send my steps to SHealth it fails to sync. Also, known S4 issue, or missing something?
Gear Manager - Unable to install apps - When I navigate to My Apps > Featured > MyFitnessPal for Samsung Galaxy Gear (or any other app), I select Install, and I get "Product does not exist in this store(4002)". Im guessing this is because the Samsung store is reading my S4 build.prop and determining there are no compatible apps.
In re the last topic, could someone send me the APK from their watch for this app, Ill side load it.
I am at the office and want to install some apps via ADB, but don't have my cradle handy. Is there any way to get an APK to the watch that anyone can think of?
I am working on recompiling the stock camera app that does not have the shutter sound. Ill share when I get it done.
Update: Here is a thread with all of the APKs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468522

How are people finding it?
I went from Beta 10 (bought my watch the day it came out)
-it was crap, buggy, slow, the app store made my phone hot and chewed the battery.
to Beta 7 (the release prior to "app store")
-no app store. instant responses. worked pretty well
to Beta 11
-still a bit slow, but the Pebble app behaved and battery use was okay. App store worked better (could scroll back and forth between watch faces)
to Official
-barely tested before an update came out
to Official.. (update 1?)
-is okay.. not as fast as Beta 7 still.
-Phone has started crashing.
-Powered off at 3am the other day (GSAM graph and Sleep as Android had data until then)
-Froze on the app store this morning. Then crashed.
..not sure whether I'll try uninstalling everything or perhaps flashing a new ROM.
Incidentally, I have a mate who won't move off of Beta 7
Official got an update today. Working very well so far
I changed my rom and it seemed to have fixed the problem I was having earlier.

After I received my Pebble, the firmware was updated to the latest version 2. I had been using with my Note 3 on stock KitKat and found that almost half the time, it will lose the bluetooth connection. Has anyone using Note 3 encounter this issue?
Today I got very frustrated with it and tried factory reset of the Pebble but still has same issue. I even tried Pebblebits but the issue remains.
I tried to flash the beta 9, 10, and 11 but didn't manage to flash. Is there anyway to go back to the last most updated version 1 firmware? The only reason I want to do that is to find out if my issue is Pebble or rom very issue.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
V2.0.2 firmware updated on my Pebble. Hopefully the bluetooth issue I had will be resolved.
Edit:
Did factory reset on my Pebble a few times but still cannot solve the problem.
Next, suspected that Notification Center seems to cause the BT disconnection, so I removed it. Tried other free notification apps but still had problem with BT disconnection.
Decided to purchase YaNC PRO and unfortunately still had BT disconnection.
The last straw was to reboot my Note 3.
Looks like the BT disconnection is gone. Notifications are also coming in now. Hopefully this situation continues.
Edit:
It's slightly improved but at times, I still face BT disconnections, ie notifications not sending to my Pebble even when the notification bar shows the Pebble is connected.
Of anyone has any suggestions, please share with me. Thank you.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I have a disconnection too. But this is a data type connection. If I have weather on the watch it wont update, when I do a manual update on the watch it says disconnected. The way to get it back is to reboot the phone, or go to the support tab, have it check for a update, and let it force close, then its OK for a while. I'm currently use Kitkat (Custom ROM),unfortunately I had to remove weather from my watch.

You definitely don't need a Samsung phone to have the phone work with the Gear. I've had my Gear running with a Moto E and a Moto G - neither of them were rooted or modded in any way. I just installed the latest Gear Manager from a link on here after updating my Gear to Tizen. It's worth mentioning that I was running an old version of Gear Manager originally and my battery wouldn't even last half a day. Since I installed the latest version I'm getting days of use out of it -- having activated only Tweeting, Hangouts, WhatsApp and Gmail for notifications and turned off the auto activate backlight feature. It's four days since I charged and I'm still on 72%
None of the Samsung apps show up on the phone if it isn't Touchwiz based - so there's no S-Voice or Weather. I can use the Bluetooth Trusted Device feature on my Moto to have my phone turn PIN off when my Gear is connected to it.

Yes. I do it all the time. The only difference between doing it on a non Touchwiz phone compared with a Touchwiz phone is that the phone sees it as a handsfree device so will answer on the Gear by default, even if you hit the answer button on the phone. You just need to tap the little icon next to the 'End Call' button on the Gear though and it will route the call back to the handset. You can also tap the bluetooth icon on the dialer and switch the source to earpiece or speakerphone. Bit of an annoyance but not a particular problem.

I used TWRP to format data and cache to f2fs. I rooted and I installed the Trimmer app linked above and have it scheduled to run twice a day. I initially installed the Google app (Google Now, Launcher, Voice search) but found that it was too much for this tablet so I removed it. I have plenty of other Google services and apps installed (Gmail, Photos, Chrome, Books). I also found Tinycore to be useful. It shows the CPU utilization in the status bar.

To increase the performance of the N7(2012) unrooted model, you must remove any ram hungry apps. I've done this and mine has been pretty much lag free, considering the age of the hardware.

yes if you have facebook and tunein running in the same time whatever config you have you gonna wait for a long time lol
I went into the "Accounts" --> "google" and I unticked "google fit data" "slides" and "sound search for Google play" this has significantly increased performance and stability of my nexus 7(2012). I did this while experiencing crawling performance speeds with the UI and occasional freezes. Immediately I saw an increase in performance after doing this. Will someone else try this and see if they get the same results? Thx.

After doing this, I was able to run Facebook while updating apps in play store without Facebook crashing.

Guys I bought this oldie for my dad to run car navigation. Stock 4.4 and 5.1 runs very slow and is a real pain to use. Which ROM/kernel/recovery/whatever combo do you recommend for a light user that's only going to use Gmaps/Sygic, Gmail and Chrome? CM12.1 + pico Gapps?

flash this rom.

Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunatelly, after flashing it my Nexus worked even slower than with CM12.1. Ultimatelly I flashed OmniROM (based on Android 4.4) and now it's finaly - usable.
Using virtually any Lollipop ROM (whether it's AOSP or CM based) Google Maps app is extremely choppy and practically useless. Pinching and zooming, moving left-right, ... - everything is slow. With OmniROM it's much much better. And since my dad never had a tablet (nor smartphone) he won't miss the fancy UI and fonts from Lollipop.
OK so I'm not rooted and the N7 is getting so its unusable with the lag.We only use it as a media device to stream netflix etc to TV ,so thinking of rooting it ,but installing a stable customnrom to sirt it out ,any suggestions and is marshmallow working on it

Nothing is going to improve the N7. It's a paperweight.

Thanks for the heads up on this app. It works like a charm on my NEXUS 7
I had forgotten all about this app, thanks.
I have been using Omni 4.4.4 for ages now, the N7 works well with it, later roms do not.

Trim is implemented in android since 4.3 so why do we need this?
