Can someone try to load swype and gosms on the gear? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Can someone try to sideload swype keyboard and see if it's possible to type on the gear? Also would loading something like gosms on the gear work and get messages?

You can type with a full keyboard! I know because I have "hacker's Keyboard" on mine and a reboot later, I have a full, (tiny) keyboard!

I tried thumbs key board and it didn't work. ..it keep force closing

I think no apps that require internet work.

where can i get a swype board?? id like to try it out.
also, does anyone know when its gonna be available to everyone?
shapewriter is nice,I use it as my main keyboard however its off the market now.Anybody know if I can duplicate my shapewriter app for someone else to use?
search swype beta with yahoo, the first site that pops up should be it. Then sign up on the website and have them send you and email. Go to the email on your phone, the email will instruck you back to the web site to sign in and download the beta. In order for the website to determin what phone you have you need to make sure your phone browser is in android mode. After that just install it and go select it in your keyboard settings then you need to go to a text, click impute methode and select swype.

As long as shapewriter is "free" you can back it up with an app like titanium back up and then load it onto any device with that save. It should be as simple as navigating to the titanium back up folder and pulling the shaperwriter.apk or whatever its call to your computer and then putting it on the device you want. and installing it with astro or root explorer or something similar.

New swype 3.0

Hey everyone i thought i would bring the good news to people who are swype fans and let you guys know that the new swype 3.0 is available for download and is open for the public to join as well.
i know people on the TB were having some problems with swype in the beginning, and for all i know got fixed long before beta 3.0, but regardless the new 3.0 fixes the spacing problem on the TB and has some cool new features as well, go check it out at swype beta website
http://beta.swype.com/
Great find.. thanks!
Works great

It seems to have fixed the issue at reboot. Don't need to toggle input methods anymore to get swype fired up which was anoying
So far so good! First time that the downloaded beta actually typed properly. Previously had to use a diff version found on xda here somewhere.

anyone else getting slight lag with swype 3.0 on gingerBAMF?
I still have to toggle. Did you guys remove and redownload the installer our simply run the installer and let it update the app?
Swype issue?
When double spacing on swype it does not auto install period, is anyone else experiencing this?

same issue here. really annoying
I totally uninstalled the installer & app... started from scratch... Works fantastic, no spacing or reboot issues.
The new inline word suggestion is top notch. Will see how it "learns" but maybe just a half step below swiftkey so far after a few minutes of use...

Just swype from period to space. Much easier motion.

I still like Flext9 a lot...although I am using this on my Xoom because it supports tablets and Flext9 doesn't.
+100 on flext9.
Autospacing doesn't work for me when i am texting. Works fine in email and other applications though.
Uninstall and re-install worked for me.
I agree, the update is really nice. It still does not work with the pre-installed messaging app, but with apps like handcent, I will never go back to the pre-installed app.
I logged in with my account, installed the installer and the version says 1.1.26483. Is that just the installer or is something wrong?
I went ahead and installed it and my swype isn't white like in the picture either.
I bounce between Swype and FlexT9 periodically. Flex is easier with words that have double letters, but it really, really sucks in dealing with spaces after punctuation.

Thanks so much for posting this, I was lamenting my lack of swype, now I can swype to my heart's content. That reminds me, is there a way to put away the swype keypad like the stock one?

I installed it and then immediately uninstalled it, as it is a trial. I have no idea about the SMS question.
Copy the file to your sdcard using any of the methods and using a file browser, click it and select install.
Or you can install via ADB.
There are loads of tutorials if you are unsure. Just Google for 'sideload app Galaxy Gear' or 'ADB push Galaxy Gear'.
I'm using a Swype keyboard to answer sms sent to the watch through tablet talk
I loved that Samsung creates the possibility to respond to the SMS from stock apps... dont understand why this was not out of box. If this watch its complementary to the phone...
Im trying to find the fleksy 1.2.1 apk but no luck, could some one help m euploading it???? thank you in advance

How did you get the Swype keyboard to work? I sideloaded it but it still didn't show up for text input but when I reboot the device it restored the whole watch UI.
---------- Post added at 05:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:11 AM ----------
Nevermind, I pressed Reset Gear. When I reinstalled it however, I keep getting an error Swype has stopped working...
Fleksy works super to reply with TabletTalk.

Anyone figured out how to get Fleksy voice recognition to work while not connected to the internet. I have Google voice working with sideloading the files to the Google Voice folder but now that I switched to Fleksy, its not picking it up on Fleksy voice searchs. Anyone know where the folder is for Fleksy, so I can copy the files over? Is it even possible?

Unfortunately Swype has stopped working. Any ideas?

Swype came installed on my phone, so it's all I really know as far as keyboards goes. It's always worked, but not sure what happened, but when I press the microphone it says "Unfortunately Swype has stopped working" and only option is to hit OK and it closes.
Any ideas what to do?
When this happens to me, I navigate to Settings - Apps - All (scroll to the right) - find Swype. Scroll down and click clear data.

Thanks! That partially solved my problem. While the microphone button works now, clearing the data made Swype look totally different and I can't find a way to get it to look like it did. Is there a spot for themes or something somewhere? I would like it to appear as it did when I bought my phone.
There's a settings icon on the keyboard.. when I go in there it brings up "HTC Sense Input Settings". Maybe it's not using Swype? Not sure how to get it back on. If I go into Settings, Language & Keyboard, I can find Swype settings. It says it's using Classic theme.

Go back to where you found that Swype was using classic theme and tap it. This will take you to where you can change your theme.

It's set as classic. I tried to change it to Silver then back to Classic no luck. The keyboard doesn't even look like any of the themes shown, so I'm guessing it's not using Swype. Not sure how to get it back.
Lemme reboot the phone and see what happens.
Not working.. it definitely is a different keyboard.. because I can't "swype" to type words.. just not sure how to get Swype to come back as default for everything.

Ok..... Open up a text message and get to the point where your HTC keyboard Pops up. From there, swipe down from the top of your screen where it shows what applications you have running. You should see "Choose input method." Tap on that and you should be able to change input method to Swype.

[Q] How to set Swype as default

Ok I have changed in settings keyboard and language to swype but it keeps reverting back to the google keyboard I prefer Swype but cannot get it to stick any one have any suggestions??
Go into a text input field in any app so that the keyboard comes up. Next, swipe down the notification bar and in the list you should have an item that says "choose input method". Tap on that and change your keyboard. See if that sticks.

Go into the settings for Language and Input.
There's an area to specify which of your keyboards should be the default one.
Select Swype there and you're golden.
Thanks guys it still reverts back though
I use an app called SwiftKey which seems quite a bit more accurate compared to Google Swype and it does your dictionary in the cloud if you ever change phones.
