Rooting does'nt speed up the device but uninstalling bloatware(useless stuff from /system/app) after rooting would speed up the device.

1 - Install this to your phone - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en
Choose the apps carefully which you want to uninstall. Many of the apps are required for the phone to function properly. What might be useful for you might be bloatware for others. Every person has different requirements. Btw, I see someone has made a list here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200954
2- You cannot get the whole 768MB ram for use. Some of it is reserved for graphics by the kernel. I am not sure myself. Research yourself.
3- You cannot overclock in Samsung galaxy s advance. Some technical limitations in our phone. I think lack of sources. Not sure again.

It is always better to buy apps from the playstore to support the developer for their time spent. Moreover, cracked apps have malware and may/may-not infect your phone. xda-developers is not a warez forum. Don't go around here asking for cracked apps (warez) you would get banned. Read the rules and use the search bar of the forum.

If you put anything modded in phone, it is becomes non official.
If you want to make it official after, just flash stock firmware with Odin.

Because rooting means granting superuser access to your device and nothing more. After you flash anything non-official, then it will display custom.

Download the file that i have posted
Put that it in External Sd card.(NOTE: Just put it in root of external SD and not in any folder)
Switch OFF your cell.
Get in recovery mode by pressing Volume up+home button+power, and keep it pressed until the samsung logo flashes for the second time.
Navigate up down by volume keys and select "install update.zip" by the pressing power button/home button.
Navigate to the root file and again press the power button/home button.
reboot
you will see supersu app now.
HEY YOU HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY ROOTED YOUR DEVICE.
Thank me if I helped you!!

After all that just install SuperSu from playstore.
In short - frst install root kernel in odin, reboot, install CoCore in Odin and install SuperSU (open it).

Please see teh first thread in this forum it has links to many relevant articles that you might want to read...
I couldn't get all what you mean but here goes it...
To keep your phone memory empty you can move apps to sd-card...Learn more at http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/09/how-to-install-applications-to-sd-card.html
If you are looking for Samsung Firmwares latest is 2.3.5 (not Official for all regions). There are many custom roms (not by sasmung) available to install and most of them are based on GB 2.3.4 (so they are also like latest). Please find more info in their threads in Development section of Galaxy Mini forum.
Updating will remove all your apps, settings, data, etc. and install a new firmware. So, it is a most to do a backup of your apps, contacts and other data first. You data on sd-card will be safe.

If it's 2.3.4 you could try yagya's tutorial on his site: yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-popmini.html
If it's lower, you should consider flashing 2.3.4.

[Q] Upgrade to ICS

Hi all,
Currently I've rooted (CF-Root) my phone,
PDA : N7000DDLB2
PHONE : N7000DDLB1
CSC : N7000DDLA1
I need to upgrade to an ICS ROM (with root). Please direct me to a proper guide
I Followed this guide. It's really a simple guide for anyone .
I've purchased mobile Odin Pro. Can I use it with ICS as well ?
YES. I Can .
Can I switch back to my CF-Rooted GB again (I've CWM backups) ?

ICS Repack Problems
Hi all,
I managed to flash ICS Repack by Chainfire on my galaxy note today. It is pretty cool and really fast. But I've few questions to ask regarding this new ROM. Please be kind enough to direct me to a appropriate thread if these questions are already been asked and solved.
After I flash ICS Repack, I cannot find CWM anymore. What happened to it ? and how I can get it back ?
How I can go back to my old GB rooted ROM (I've CW backup of that rooted LB2 GB ROM) ?
By now, this ICS version cannot render South Asian languages. but LB2 rendered it very well. Are there any option to get that language support on this ICS ?
I need to change this Keyboard (Chinese) to English. Any other method to change it (Instead of installing GO Keyboard) ?
In our county phone numbers have two formats (our numbers are start with "0" but receiving calls don't have that starting "0" ). But in this ICS ROM, those 2 numbers are Identifying as two different numbers. Any method to fix that issue ?
Can I get my CPU speed to 1.4GHz again ?
Please be kind enough to help me on these matters.
Thank You.
This is why users should study BEFORE they flash. Anyways. Flash CWM, boot it, resrore backup. Cant help you much. Just got my Note happy studying

Stick with GB for now...people working with ICS around here like to make you jump through hoops just to get your phone to work...so if you're not will to spend the time on it, then stick with GB...no fuss, no muss.
The answer to 3. is a very simple 'yes, you can always go back'.
Also, massive thanks for updating your OP with the answers you have found. If only all question-askers did this.

[WARNING THREAD] must read this before doing anything

here are some points which a mini user must follow to keep his g'mini away from problems
Flashing roms:-
now many mini users flash rom on their mobile with stock recovery then create a thread here saying "I did this how to get this fixed" why you not read before doing anything
be sure to flash cwm to your phone with Odin and never flash it through rom manager even if it shows g'mini in the list
ROM manager:-
Flashing recovery through rom manager is highly risky 99.99% are of bricking their mobile (obviously can be revived), although many users have posted that they have successfully flashed rom (not recovery) through the app, but still am warning you to not use it on any cost and also I will also like to ask devs to remove it from their rom, by including the app in their rom people got encouraged to use it, I am not blaming the developer of rom manager, he is doing a very great work but rom manager is not made for galaxy mini
Touch firmware update:-
Many of you are interested in special codes which have to put in the dialer to access special areas of android os
in the bulk of those codes there is a code for updating touch firmware, but you are warned that you should not do this, these days many problem are coming about touch, updating touch firmware will brick your touch, and flashing will not do anything and its a tricky job to get the touch working again
but if you have did update even after reading this please do not create a new thread instead write problem here, all the members here will try to solve it
what is touch firmware update:- there is an option in samsung's android phone to update its touch firmware, and its a very risky task to do, 80% of the result are of bricking the touch, and then what happens is hours of Googling, unwanted tensions in mind and obviously a bricked touch
how to fix it:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22709246&postcount=1 here is a very good tut on fixing your touch
Rooting and Unrooting:-
Currently there are two packages to root galaxy mini, both have their on advantages, but you need to keep in mind that you must use the same packages for rooting and unrooting, using different packages can cause instability.
flashing recovery:-
flashing recovery through rom toolbox or flash_image binary is not recommended it may lead to a brick, instead use the method discribed in thousands of tutorial around internet, most secure way to flash recovery is through Odin using a recovery.tar file according to your current version
unlocking phone:-
many of you wanted to unlock your mobile to use other company's sim on your sim locked mobile, and thousands of articles are there to do this in galaxy mini, but don't for get to backup you efs folder to a safe place so of something just mis-happens then you can use the backup to restore the imei, another thing is never make any changes to the file located in the efs folder, or else you will have a mp4 player instead of a fully working android
Please Xplain more about Touch Firmware Upgrade, what's its effect on sensitivity, silky smoothness.....

[Q] How to root samsung galaxy ace DDKQ8?

Hi All,
I have Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 with the below configuration -
Android Version - 2.3.6
Baseband Version - S5830DDKQ8
Kernel Version - 2.6.35.7-perf-CL972857 [email protected]#1
Build number - GINGERBREAD.DDKQ8
This phone has low RAM and is inherently slow. I want to root it so that i am able to upgrade it to the latest Android for new features, stability and better performance. I need help from all the experts here to guide me as to how can I root my phone without any issues.

I see conflicting responses/threads on the internet and hence i need help from you experts to guide me. Please tell me how can I root my phone?

After rooting .....need some help again
I read a thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942957) which says you should NOT use ROM manager on Ace. I downloaded and opened it but technically haven't used it to take back-up etc. After I read this thread, I uninstalled it - I believe my phone is not bricked?
Also, How can I take a back-up of my ROM? I saw a thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=18167974) recommending to use a custom app but that's not tested. What should I do?
As always, your help is appreciated!!
Your phone is ok
If you installed cwm 5 recovery you can use backup option from it

Well as far as I know, you can't root your phone using "update.zip" if your phone is running Gingerbread.. you would either have to flash a rooted kernel or a rooted firmware using Odin... but you don't have to root it if you just want to upgrade to Jellybean.. just download the Indian Jellybean firmware (DULP8) and flash it with Odin or with Heimdall, then root it with the zip file - but for all that you need a Windows PC...

No dude as far as I know, a Galaxy S Advance running Gingerbread can't be rooted using the usual "update.zip" method (but I maybe wrong)... But it works when you upgrade to Jellybean... So why not directly upgrade to Jellybean?
And no, Odin is for Windows users only... you should use Heimdall if you are using a Mac... But I think Heimdall also works for Ubuntu and Windows as well.... Any ways here's the link to Heimdall... For more info, checkout this guide....
Or if you have a copy of Windows with you right now then you can use Bootcamp too right?
EDIT: Thanks for backing up Shaaan

Not all jellybean firmwares are laggy or buggy... the Indian firmware (DULP8) is quite smooth.. and if you flash a custom kernel like CoCore E 7.0 then your phone's performance will increase drastically... :good:
And in my opinion, Jellybean is far better than Gingerbread - but it consumes are bit more RAM and Battery than Gingerbread...

Its always better to follow the instructions mentioned on XDA.. Since these are likely to be safe and tested.... Stuffs mentioned on webpages aren't always safe or tested... Plus I did not see "i9070" in the list of compatible devices...
jellybean is not so bad.. been using if for a while now..
with only root and swap sdcard to internal as my modification..
i have two units of SG Advance..
At first I was worried too to upgrade to Jelly Bean, but after tried out a few rom, I think upgrading to Jelly Bean has been a good decision. Not going to gingerbread anymore.
:cries:
Me too, I want to root gb
But without the need to download another firmware for that, cause my internet is pretty slow (2kb/s)
So can anyone give me a detailed explanation for the root

Hello
Do i loose my warranty if i flash my kernel on JB because of lag problems
@balajinaik123: Yes. Rooting your phone and flashing (installing) anything that is not made my Samsung will void your warranty... But there's one more thing.. If your phone is still under warranty period and if you wish to claim it then simply Factory Reset your phone and/or flash Samsung's 4.1.2 firmware with Odin.. Doing that will remove Root Access or any Custom kernel you have installed.. Also make sure to keep your Binary Counter at Zero...
I did root using this method:
http://supergeekforum.org/how-to-ro...dvance-i9070-gingerbread-2-3-6-all-firmwares/
Since my firmware was LD1 already, I could make the process in a easy way
Just read carefully and you'll be fine!!
