Sprint Moto X - What to do? - Moto X Q&A

I am having difficulty determining the best route. Since I have the Sprint Moto X are there downsides to unlocking using the motorola unlocker? Is there a root method currently working for this device? If so what software version do I need to be on?
Sorry for the questions but I am having a hard time finding the Sprint specific info with all of the providers devices being listed here.

AT&T Moto X User query on latest build

Hey folks I recently purchased an AT&T Moto X used and I'm trying to figure out if my phone is on the latest build. I have noticed that all the other Moto X variants have different update dates and such. So for any AT&T Moto X users out there please tell me what's the latest build number for the device. (I am on 129.12.54.ghost) thanks in advance!
* I couldn't find an AT&T specific forum so I posted it in the moto x. Sorry if post is not in right spot.

I have 139.12.54 on my Moto X
Info for root:
**QUOTE**
If it is 139.12.54.ghost_att.ATT.en.US then it is the updated firmware with the camera fix and the exploit won't work.
If it is 139.9.51.ghost_att.ATT.en.US then you are on the firmware that the phone was shipped with upon release and the exploit will work.

[Q] Sprint ROMs????

Finally got my Moto X rooted and bootloader unlocked, only to come to Android Dev for the device and find that there are only:
TMO/VZW/Other GSM variant ROMs. Am I missing something? Verizon even uses CDMA like Sprint- are these also compatible with Sprint or do I have to wait for one literally labeled as compatible for Sprint?
Also, sorry if this has been asked before, but there are 50+ pages of Q&A and no search feature, so here I am.
Thanks in advance!

[Q] European MOTO X - XT1052 - Root and Bootloader questions

XT1052 - European Moto X
So, this device just got released in Europe, and i just received it today in my mail. Searching the forums (obviously) did not return any valuable information on how to gain root and unlock the bootloader on this device (if this can be done).
Does anyone know how to deal with this device? Or if I can treat it as any specific US model and follow the guides for it?
Thanks in advance. :good:

Need A Few Questions Answered.

Okay I am wanting get a Moto X soon with my contact expiring, and I am in to custom ROMs, rooting etc, but when I search the Moto X there's information i'm confused on.
First can non developer editions be unlocked? I am with Alltel atm which is a CDMA carrier who have the regular Moto X, can that be unlocked?
They are being slowly taken over and transitioned to GSM by AT&T, I like the idea of the Moto X but if I can't both root it and unlock the boot loader I am going to skip it.
I don't have the kind of money to buy the developer edition just to use it on my current carrier.
Thank you in advanced!
The moto x DE isn't much more than the regular one. What carrier? Verizon and at&t can't be unlocked. Or rooted if they come with 4.4.2.
Honestly, if your into flashing And whatnot....you want the N5. No question.
As much as I love the X....its not a flashers phone.
If you want to unlock the bootloader, you need to get an GSM version. Get the Dev Edition version so you won't lose your warranty from unlock it.
If you want to flash rom there is no point of getting the Moto X for two reason;
1. There is almost no roms for it.
2. You lose all the features of the Moto X. If you don't want the Moto X features, there is no point of getting it, there are other phones with better specs.

Which I love because now I spend much more time actually using the phone and it's practical features rather than flashing.

The Moto X can at least be rooted without the boot loader unlocked correct?

Yes, but I heard with ATT and Verizon not yet for ver 4.4.2, I could be wrong. But as long as you buy unlocked version getting bootloader unlocked is very easy.

At the moment, if you're already on 4.4.2 with a Verizon or at&t retail phone....there's no way to root.

Motorola and Verizon have stated that they will not update the XT1096 to MM or 6.x so there is no "official" Marshmallow firmware from Motorola for this phone.
You can find an 99% stock MM ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/rom-xt1096-verizon-flashable-stock-rom-t3327345. Please read the full thread and ask questions there about this ROM. Some people - including me - are using it as their daily driver with little to no issues. This ROM has all the Motorola apps (Voice, Display, etc.) working as expected from a stock ROM.
Another option CM13. Read this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/orig-development/rom-official-cm-13-0-nightly-releases-t3256580/post65781867#post65781867. CM13 works on the XT1096 and other CM13-based ROMs should work but you will need to verify by reading their threads. Please be sure to read the full thread and ask questions there about CM13 or in the other threads related to other ROMs.
This is assuming that you are on the Verizon network and want to keep CDMA functionality. If you are using this phone on a GSM network and do not care to keep the CDMA access then you might want to look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/guide-xt1097-to-xt1095-nextel-t2972693
All of the options above require that you have an unlocked bootloader. If your bootloader is locked please go here to learn about unlocking it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/motorola-unlocking-verizon-moto-x-2014-t3291104
Please read and learn as much as you can. Most - if not all - of your questions will be answered by reading through the threads listed.
XT1085
Hello everyone,
I'm currently using the moto X 2nd generation bought in china (XT1085) running android 5.0.2.
I would like to get rid of the retcn version of the system because I don't speak chinese for a retEU or retUS and install android 6 MM. Is it possible?
My phone is rooted and TWRP recovery installed
I tried to install this version : Version 6, because one guy wrote on the topic that it worked on TX1085 but it failed for me, and my phone stayed on the Motorola launching screen.
So now I'm back with the factory setup and would like to now how to install android 6.0?
Thanks

How to unlock Motorola Moto X 2nd gen. bootloader?
Hey Guys! I have a locked motorola moto x 2nd gen, verizon variant (xt1096). I want to unlock its bootloader for upgrading to marshmallow (6.0), tried to unlock through Motorola's website, but my phone's not eligible for it. So is there any other way to unlock bootloader.
