matte backcover around? - G2 Accessories

someone know if something like this is already obtainable?
i mean no ugly rubberbumper or stuff like that. maybe an original matte style backcover? i have read about the version to use sort of paper to rub down the glossy part of the back but i do not tend to do that.
any idea?

Putting a Gelaskin on a hard case

I'm considering putting a Gelaskin on the back of a Poetic Slimline case. I know it sort of defeats the purpose but I really like some of their art. Would this work? I'm thinking a skin that for the Nexus 7 would be too small. If anyone has any suggestions or alternatives for finding similar decals, let me know. Also, can you put the front part of the skin over an Armorsuit MilitaryShield? I know this is trying to have your cake and eat it too.
I don't have a Poetic Slimline in hand, but does it have a heavy texture like the pictures? The Gelaskins go on better on a smoother surface.
It may be small for the back, but if you center the decal properly, it should still work out (proportionally the same). I personally like the Gelaskins because they're easy to put down (no bubbling) and are very durable for a decal.
In regards to the Armorsuit MilitaryShield, if you're going with a the decal that surrounds the screen, I'd imagine it would be like putting a sticker on another sticker. Just be really careful with alignment.

[Q] Glossy back panel?

Is there maybe a glossy back panel for the O4X? I'd go for some plastic glossy back rather than textured. Don't get me wrong, the textured plastic is good, but I just want something...glossy and shiny. If it exists that is.
Maybe a cover case alternative then >?

I would consider one of the multitude of cases available on numerous websites and market stalls...
The back panel of the phone also houses the NFC antenna, if you were to change this you would lose NFC functionality from your handset.

I was considering the Nillkin hard case and probably will be getting that since there's no way to get a glossy back piece. Obviously its an NFC antenna as well as a back cover but if a glossy option would even exist, I'm pretty sure no company would left out the damn antenna and sell just a blank hunk o plastic lol but anyways. Nillking it is...I guess, if there's no better option that is.
Most aftermarket battery covers do not include the NFC antenna.
BTW I have been using a Nilkin hard case since I have had my 4X and am very happy with it

Looking for a non-slippery back cover / back plate (not case).

Does anyone here know of a website that sells a back cover / backplate that is like the one on the Galaxy S5 (with dark blue backplate, the white one is slippery)? It doesn't have to have the same design but I am just looking for something that has a grip and is not slippery. Probably a matte now.
I miss how easy it is to hold my S5.
Note that I am NOT looking for a case. A skin can work but I don't think Dbrand or the others make the phone not slippery based on the many reviews I read (they only add a little bit of a grip).
I have a very slim Ringke Slim matte case for my G4 and it works but I'd rather not use a case as it makes it slightly bigger and gets stuck in my pocket.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: If anyone has the leather covers (not black as I have that one and it's slippery), please let me know the color and if it is slippery or not.
The colored ones aren't very slippery, the brown one is smooth, thus slippery

I heard that the brown (tan) wasn't as slippery as the black one. hmm, interesting that you tell me it is :S.
The tan leather is very slippery. The plastic backs are not.

I have the "metallic" plastic back and when it's hot outside it's not that slippery but when it's cold (I live in Canada), it's very slippery.
I have the black leather that came with the phone, and also the orange-ish one. The black is not slippery at all for me, the Orange one is, but I have not used it regularly enough to see if it will get that way. The black cover was a bit slick, but after a couple of weeks, it lost that smoothness and the shine. Quite nice, for me.
I have the T-Mobile brown leather back, and while the leather has a smooth feel to it, it is not at all slippery. I use the G4 with one hand and two hands at times, and l have never felt like it was going to slide out of my hands.
If you want to make a plastic back less slippery, just use plastidip on it. You get to change the color to whatever you want and add a super amount of grip

That's a good idea. Never knew that existed. I'll see if I'll try it out or not as I read that for some it peeled off? Did you try it?
I did it, if you let it cure, it takes quite a bit to peel off but the more coats you do the better.

So you apply it once, then wait how long to apply second coat?
And after you apply last coat, how much to wait til you can use it?
Plasti-dip user here I use that stuff on everything, follow the directions on the can, ideally you want to apply 5-7 coats all within 1hr of each other but try not to exceed 2hrs between coats, this will seperate the coats rather than making them adhear as one strong coat, done correctly the plasti-dip will heal as one strong layer you can peal off in the future with some force without ripping into small pieces.
YouTube has tons of info on plasti dip you will be amazed all the fun things you can do with it, look into water based plasti dip if you want really funky designs.
I use egrip on the plastic back.
Works great. Been using on every phone for years .

Thanks! I'll look into that. Seems like it could be it. Wish there was a backplate like the one on the dark blue S5 that I could buy .
So, are there any good alternative back covers?
I really like the phone, but the plastic covers seem too cheap and ugly.
I've seen some really nice cases, but they add bulk.
I'd like to know if there are other solutions.

Back covers, I don't know of any really grippy ones. Tried searching but couldn't find good ones.
The case I have hardly adds bulk, it's hard plastic but has a matte coating, very soft and adds a good amount of grip, and it's quite solid. It's called Ringke Slim. Came with the phone when I bought it from someone else. You can find it here: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Case-Technology-Protection-compatible/dp/B00V3YHIQ6
You can check skins from dbrand and slickwraps but I don't think they provide the grip I'm looking for.
I still am trying to avoid having a case on all the time so what I learned from this thread is to try out egrips: http://www.egrips.com/products
I'm still not sure about egrips though as I read others complaining that they only stick for 2 weeks and some for a few months and then you have to apply another. Some complained that they fall off right away.
So, I kept researching and found some great grip tapes (gt-50 for phones and others) on amazon.com but I live in Canada and lots of products from amazon.com don't ship to Canada and they're not available on amazon.ca. Really annoying! Those seem really good.
On .ca I found some grip tape but it's not for phones and I'm not sure if it will work well on my G4.
I'll check eBay.

The case looks nice, does it add any bulk?
It is strange that for a phone with changing covers there are dozens of cases and not alternative backs.
I'm thinking for a skin maybe.

It adds only a few mm bulk, it's the thinnest case I think. It doesn't bother me at all. I still want a skin or a grip tape.

I have this and it's the best case I know for not adding bulk . quite good grip but I'm going to put carbon fibre wrap on as it looks a good fit.
About Skins, if anyone is interested, based on what I researched, I found that the leather series from Slickwraps offer the best grip for our G4. The only skins that surpass it in grippiness is the Natural Series from Slickwraps. From the natural series, the real leather one (it's actually real leather ) has a super grip as reviewers state. Sadly, no natural series yet for the G4 .
I don't have any skin but I think I may end up with the vinyl leather from slickwraps, which is made by 3M. I'm going to shop first for some vinyl tape at a store here to see if I could just use that instead of paying a lot for a skin.

Thin case (or bumper) that makes the back flat

The camera bump is really annoying
Haven't found anything i'm looking for, all the thin/slim cases always mold with the camera bump
You can always try the Ringke FUSION case. The phone lays flat and the camera does not make contact with anything at all. I wrote a review for it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/accessories/ringke-fusion-case-review-t3236210
Amazon link is in my signature.
yeah doesnt look like i have much choices
i hate clear cases, looks so tacky, i might have to suck it up and get this

The case comes with an insert template that you can use to make your own so you can potentially change the color / opacity of the back of the case if you'd like.

Anybody installed some sort of proctector in the back?? Share experience.

Even though the back is glass and there is protection from external case, anyone installed a protector in the back (film, glass, or anything material)
Any brands or suggestions?
thanks a million.
I use this, but I also have a skin, and a case haha so probably a little overkill but I don't want to damage this thing. If I could wrap a pillow around it I would. https://m.aliexpress.com/s/item/32832315490.html?spm=a2g0n.search-cache.0.0.30c0f4f1MpT7WO#autostay
Yeah, me really thinking about getting one for the back as well, prefer glass type.

For the back, i know that there is lots of film ones. Some sites in other languages sell glass ones but it doesn't look trustworthy and there maybe shipping problems ..
Just trust the robots at dbrand. Best back skins around, look cool also!
Sent from my Galaxy Note8 using XDA Labs
I ordered the slickwraps horror series one, once i get it and apply it ill post pics
Yes Dbrand skin. Dragon skin

Well you asked and that's where I got mine, and had no issues, just like buying from eBay. I also have a skinomi full skin on it.
I installed a full body skinomi, good for protecting back from dust and sand particles that inevitably will get between the case and the back of the phone, these particles trapped this way cause a lot of damage

Agreed. Hated the way my note 3 looked after a case. Resale should be much easier with a near perfect phone.

Did u get a glass protector in front and fits in your case too?
No, because I have bad experiences in the past with cristal protectors that never fit really well with curved screens
2nd for the dbrand dragon skin. Also adds some friction for holding the phone without adding any thickness
I ordered 2 slickwraps Note 8 naked series for the back. One glossy and one Matte. They are regularly 15.95 each but they have a 50% off sale going now with the code Apocalypse so I bought both for 15 bucks to try them out.

Is the Glossy one completely transparent? The pics on website show a black tint which covers mirror shine. What about the sides and top & bottom?
Don't like the skinomi cuz u have to spray & spray.

The glossy is completely transparent. It's a thick plastic, though, and you need a ton of solution to get it on, etc. It only comes with the back pieces, they don't seem to have a kit for the Naked series.

"need solution" means you have to add the glue yourself? does it cover all the way to the edges?
I know Rhinoshield makes one, not glass, and it doesn't go all the way to the edges.

It goes all the way to the edges but it's not glue, its just a soap and water mix they give you in a spray bottle.

Thats the same way you apply the skinomi stuff, but their clear wraps are not transparent. I want the peel & stick type. I'll check in other places to see.
Thanks anyways

I got a wet applied screen protector for the back. I want to maintain the look of the back without covering it with a skin. This is the one I have and works perfectly with my Lumion case. (I imagine it would work with any case) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07516Y9B5/ref=crt_ewc_title_gw_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AZPYIARPTPBOT
For those without back protectors but use a case, the back will still get scratched easily. On my Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the glass back had tiny scratches even if I kept the phone in a case all the time. Tiny dust particles still managed to get trapped between the glass back and the case. A back protector is a must if you want to maintain the pristine condition of the back glass.
Slickwraps plus spigen
Bought a slikwraps skin and a spigen clear case.
Slickwraps as usual is a pain in the butt to install and they always take 2+ days to ship the item from the moment you buy them but is till prefer their designs.
Spigen iv'e use them since my s6 and i always liked them, past spigen clear cases turn yellow after some time, i'm hoping this ones won't since it says they have improved the yellowish thing happening.
