[ROM][4.3][ALPHA]Unofficial OmniROM Port for Sprint S4 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Android Development

DISCLAIMER:
Your device, your responsibility. I am not liable for anything you flash, including this.
As a result you'll probably want to read the rest of the thread and at least be aware of what you're flashing.
You've been warned.
OmniROM for SPH-L720 (jfltespr)
Unofficial 4.3. Base
OmniROM is a new ROM on the scene and so there have been requests to get it for the Sprint S4.
At the time of OP I am accomplishing a port by heavily relying on CM hardware, build, external and system folders.
But as my S4 is no longer available for testing I must ask for testers - hence the alpha tag.
Link to OmniROM site:

Download Link for all builds:
http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p...amsung Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720)/AOSP ROMs/OmniROM
Latest Build: Initial (10/20/2013)
Update: I abandoned this route and am working on @jakew02's modifications. He made some changes and I'm hoping they'll be pushed soon so I can build off of that.
Otherwise I'll start patching the missing objects this weekend and hope to get closer.
Changelog: None yet since initial
Screenshots: None yet... stay tuned.
Flash Instructions:
1) Back up your current system and all data if desired.
2) In your favorite custom recovery, wipe data, cache and dalvik.
If you want to flash the ZIP version you'll need to format system as well.
3) TAR - Boot to Odin Mode and flash via Odin.
ZIP - Flash ZIP in recovery
4) Flash GApps
Thanks to:
CM Team, especially Noobnl for the S4 bringup and device maintenance as well as the source used for this port.
OmniROM for their source.

What exactly is the difference between this and CM/AOSP?? I went to the website but saw no screenshots or really any relevant info such as features or anything lol.

Yup status 0 is update-binary
@garwynn for the d2spr @decimalman had to swap the init binary that gets thrown in the ramdisk to even get it to boot

Did it happen to mention in log which line failed? I'll look at it in a bit.
In the meantime anyone willing to pull and test the ChameleonOS build from today? Same site, just go up one folder and then to ChaOS.

I tried to flash with twrp and failed. Said something about binary, I think what cnexus mention. Also tried ChameleonOS got stuck on boot animation. Maybe didn't wait that long to boot, I only waited 3 min. But normally roms wont take to long to boot, at least not for me.

Feel like I'm getting closer. Looks like Omni disabled a lot of the CDMA support in its repos so I'm trying to borrow from PA to get it going.
Also explains why I'm still getting stuck versus others.
Stay tuned, still plugging away...

Hallelujah!
After much hard work done by folks like @jakew02, it finally has built properly.
At this point it's not a patchwork of other stuff, only 2 changes outside of repos at the moment.
(And if this works I'll submit those to gerrit today.)
Check the folder in OP link for the new build.
Like last time, please report issues when flashing/booting.
If it doesn't boot, try KT's kernel instead of this one as we had similar problems with ChameleonOS at the moment:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288309
Hopefully one of these will get a good result.
Thanks again for your patience!

To be short,
AOSP source code from google untouched.
CYANOGENMOD is AOSP and they changed some codes, their own launcher (trebuchet) and custom apps.
I'm working on the sound issue today fyi
I've take a look for the keyboard problems and nothing found yet. But I'm guessing it's probably in the frameworks folder.

Good work mate
Always good to see more development for this device. Hopefully, you get the sound issue fixed and all the other stuff will follow.
Thanks,

I am really excited about AOSP on my tab. Is there anything that I can do to help get this working? If you have hit a wall, maybe if you shared your non-booting work in progress the community here could get their collective think-on and get this thing rolling again. If that's not the case I apologize for this, and I can't wait to see what you've been working on! :fingers-crossed:

Hi dude. Sorry about the long wait. Some things happened in my life from the last couple of weeks (my cat ate my p3113 usb cable, my wife dropped my galaxy s in the toilet bowl and I've build a home server and I went back to school as computer tech) so I didn't have any time left to work on it. I'll start back my work on it asap.
Last time I worked on it, I was getting a non-booting ROM. I'm sure its my kernel, even if I built it using cyanogenmod_p3110 config file and it compiled through the end.
And if I can add something.. I have difficulty to work on my tab because my girlfriend have dropped water on the tablet usb port and damaged the battery... kinda lucky guy eh..
Wow! With that kinda luck eh?
Thanks for your work on this anyway! I have just always liked the option of AOSP. Let me know if I can help, though I don't have much knowledge of the kernel, unfortunately.
Good Luck?

This is a custom kernel based on LG D802 source.
More features will be added soon.
Features:
* Compiled with Linaro toolchain 4.8.2
The kernel isn't pre lokified so it needs a recovery that has built-in loki support (for now you can use my twrp build):

I'm guessing this doesn't work on the Verizon version right? But either way I love that people are liking this phone.
Thank you
I just dumped an emmc of the D803 kernel off my device. If I upload it, could you maybe take a look and see if there are any glaring differences? Maybe it is just a few changes to allow it to work?
Coming from a nexus 4,my biggest problem is there is literally no dev support. Thanks for taking a step towards dev

I'm guessing the hardware is nearly identical on all G2 versions except the korean one.
But yes, if you could provide a boot.img (and aboot.img for loki support) from a different device version i could check for compatiblity.
You have added algin novelty to the kernel, everything works correctly.
Great job, encourage and forth ....
Thanks for the development
Sorry by my english!!!
Here is a boot.img for the D800, which is ATT version. Is this what you needed or do I need to do something special to it?

Not Working
This is not working on D802 for me. If it helps, I have a D802B.
I tried on both TWRP 2.6.3.0 and TWRP 2.6.3.2, both show a boot error due to certificate verify. Bummer! Was stoked to have a custom kernel finally!
@Heatshiver
This is (for now) only working with a recovery that has built-on loki support; as the provided kernel needs to patched on the flashing process.
It must show something like:
[+] Detected target International LG G2 build D802b
[+] Loki validation passed, flashing image.
[+] Loki flashing complete!

I am confused then. As I used your recovery and another without success... I simply rebooted into recovery, flashed the zip, then rebooted. Is there a step I'm missing?

I updated my recovery a day ago, maybe u are using an older version that has no loki support yet.

A little over the top...maybe. But I don't blame him for feeling that way, it's annoying when people constantly complain about no dev support when a) they don't step up to the plate and do it themselves, or b) they have no idea if there is actually devs or not (which we have a good amount of even though they are fully active on the thread yet, cooking a Rom doesn't take two days you know ;-P).

10/11/13[ROM][GT-N8020-P4NOTELTEXX][JB][4.4] CM11 beta PORT (Sbrissen)
Sbrissen and darkman kindly allowed me the use of their hard work to port CM11 rom to our N8020. These have recently become nightly official builds thanks to Sbrissen whose work it is I am porting.
At this time there is no way to add tablet mode..but I will look into it.
Head on over to the original threads to say thanks and/or donate and just hit the button for me as I don't do donations.
here's Sbrissens original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2413149
Also, thanks darkman for his install script which I modified the UI messages on and this uses the original optus modem software from my stock tablet rom.
Many thanks to @wwwcase for finding the fix to the apn and play store bugs and to @Simon94 for his very real dev work on our device
Please remember I am not a dev and have only modified the basic stuff to work on our variation of the note 10.1 and as such will ignore requests. I have a very busy real life and will only keep up with original releases at my own pace.
Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for bad things that may occur as a result of flashing this.
From the original thread...
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Ok. Here we go.
It boots , Wifi is working, S-Pen works, Camera also for Pictures, very smooth, no Lags or Graphic Problems in Use.
But, 4G is not able to connect, I can only use 3G. Camera App goes totaly crazy trying to record a Video and crashes after 2 sec. Also i am not able to play any video from Sd, but YouTube works. Hangouts has no Smilies (should be a Problem with Gapps, i think). That's what i found for the Moment.

Another curious Thing: BetterBatteryStats can't read Battery Status
Now Reboots or Stucks till now. Some Apps don't work (Photoshop touch f.ex), but this may be App related.

[ROM] [Unofficial] Omnirom 4.4.2 KVT49L - VS980 Nightly (OTA12B compatible)

Omni is a community-based project for the Android community which is Free: Free to Use, Free to Modify, Free to Share. It's also about options, which is the beauty of Android.
This is my own version of this ROM. I have been building it for my own use, and thought I would share with the community.

I included an open source gerrit viewer app from AOKP - mGerrit. You can change the source by tapping on the cloud image, and choose the Omnirom gerrit to see the merged commits since the last builds. Keep in mind that I may revert some of those if they break something in my own personal build. However, I will let you know as well as pushing the changes to my own personal github for open source.
THANKS
Big thanks for Omni ROM and their source. Also to AOKP/CyanogenMod/Slim...and any other sources that I have forgotten. If I have left you out, it's not intentional, just PM me, and I will edit the post immediately.
As a note, I will attempt to do a nightly build for my own use until Omni officially releases the build for VS980.
This is using the msm8974 kernel source from Omni Github. Feel free to flash any other kernel you'd like. However, if you are using another kernel, it will be difficult for me to troubleshoot if problems arise.
Reserved again...
I'll give it a whirl. Thanks for the build.

Cool thanks Hoang. I prefer those as well. Flashing now, pretty excited to see your twist on this beast of a base.

I've had less issues on the omni builds, last was the Vertigo build, when flashing 4.4.2 than any other roms.
The omni kernel source seems to be pretty top notch.
Always tried to use what's rolled in unless I have problem and then start tweaking kernel settings.
I'm sure people are just awaiting the VZW update to get some new material.
You poor guys have had a heck of a time building with SOD's sound and Bluetooth issues.
We need some friends over at LG to accidentally release the code.
I appreciate all your hard work.
I'm just saying...
Great work. I haven't had any issues since download.
Changed my signature for you guys... Back to omni...
Literally every ROM I flash aside from CM now (old Omni up to 2.0 was fine) has choppy scrolling across the whole OS. Really wish I could help a dev crack this I've seen it on this, PA, Mahdi, Nameless, etc.

Yeah... Haven't had that with Omni. But I've had that with the other ROMs though... hence the reason why I choose Omni. But I think everyone has a ROM that works best for them dependent on usage patterns, apps, etc... Sorry it didn't work for you.

Yeah I'm obviously not blaming you haha. But are me and a few others seeing this or is it across the board, only on vs980? Its very noticeable and all except CM now doesn't leave me much choice for flashing lol. I tried to take videos of what I'm seeing and its very hard to see on camera. Very easy to spot when using the phone though.

Nah... no offense taken. I believe you. Tried every ROM out there. Even built several. Even with this one, I had to work on the source for a few days to get it working as well as Vertigo did. Oh well... Some folks make it look easy.

No issues on the 3/8 version (been running for 24 hrs)
As for anyone having choppiness issues try changing recoveries, twrp 2.6.3.3 has worked for me with no flaws on this ROM. No idea if there is an OP recommendation.
Or another solution I've run into, clean flash get through the set up wizard, auto restoring apps is not your friend, let bake for five minutes and then dirty flash on top of it.
If you still have issues the ROM hates you and you should flash something else.
Been flashing since the HTC G1, and still have no idea what I'm doing, so just read and pay attention to the issues.
