[Q] Deleted os on htc one can no longer access twrp - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

mm

brandon_scott said:
Hello, I have used this site to solve many problems but I could not find an answer to my current predicament anywhere on the site so I made an account. I was on twrp and I accidentally wiped the os completely off my phone. I tried to run the ruu but because my phone is 1.31 and that version isn't out yet I wasn't able to do it. I know turn the s-on to s-off but I can't. I used both revone and moonshine neither worked. I can no longer access twrp only the normal recovery. When I hook my phone up to my computer it says fastboot usb but for some reason the adb can't find the device in cmd when I type in adb shell and when I try adb devices nothing comes up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. I have taken off htc sync manager. When I look at all the drivers and devices on my computer I do see the phone and everything seems fine on that end. I can not sideload anything either. If I could just get my device recognized or turn off s-on I could fix it. I locked the bootloader to run the ruu but since that wasn't working now I decided to unlock the bootloader again hoping maybe I could just use cmd to fix it. Are there any commands I could use to turn s-off? Or maybe flashing a specific software. Once again my problem is that I idiotically deleted my os off my htc one. Now when I turn my phone on it just goes to the splash screen and then if I hold the power and volume down it turns off and when I turn it back on while holding the volume down it takes me to the bootloader where I can set it to fastboot usb but that's it. Are there maybe any ways I could control the phone using only my computer. Im stuck in what I believe to be a softbrick and I have tried every way I found online on youtube and xda and every thing else that I found on google and bing. I have spent 10 hours trying every method I could find and still nothing.

you have to flash a custom recovery (twrp/cwm) so you can be able to sideload a rom and install it.

Rename the attached recovery to recovery.img and place it in your adb folder then put your phone into fastboot mode and run this command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then use the all-in-one toolkit to sideload your Rom

I tried to flash the recovery and it didn't work it might have to do with the adb not being able to find my phone. Fastboot devices shows my phone but adb devices shows nothing and adb shell says device not found. Ive updated drivers and that doesn't work. mtp driver won't install correctly for what ever reason. That toolkit won't work everything on there does nothing except for the basic fastboot controls.

Adb will only see your phone when it's on and booted , fastboot sees your device when in bootloader/fastboot

Might be a daft question but are you sure you've placed the recovery in the right folder , you want it in the folder with adb.exe and fastboot.exe and rename it to recovery.img

Have u tried using the toolkit , use it to flash the Twrp recovery that is in the list then sideload https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9wxc0gm0j7emp15/xnwTSxfg6n

My Vivid got stuck on JoupunutBear screen!Help please!

Hi there,
I've been using my Vivid since it came out and been surfing rom to rom but haven't tried to get s-off.
I tried it today but unfortunately, there was an accident. While controlbear was running ( I haven't done the wire trick), my pc crashed and had to reboot. After that, my phone got stuck on JoupunutBear screen and I can't get it boot up again.
I tried to push recovery but cmd windows keep saying writing recovery and did not finish. I tried to oem lock, it said successfully locked but the second line said Failed (too many links). I put the stock rom as PH39IGM.zip on the sd card, the bootloader checked it twice but did not ask me to apply it.
That's every ways I know to save my phone's life but it did not help at all.
I think something can still be done while the bootloader is still accessible, right?
Please help me out! It's the first phone I bought my self!
Any help or idea would be appreciated!
Thank you all!
Relock the bootloader and run stock ruu file may just do the trick

Ok just relock the boot loader via htcdev.com and in this tread download the ruu from here then open the program follow the prompts , once you boot in hboot select fastboot then plug in the USB cord the phone should then say fastboot USB then all you got to do is run the ruu program on ur pc

cannot get root or cmw working, help needed

hi there i have tried all the possible methods and i cannot get root to work or CMW to work.
ive unlocked the boot loader with the stock rom that avaiable in the tutorial but once it try to install CMW and root i get nothing...
fasboot does not recognize my device so i see no way out..
You can flash cwm with odin, you'll find the files on droidbasement.com. Sometimes it doesn't "stick" (for the lack of a better word) so do it twice. Then you can use rommanager ONLY to reboot into recovery, for nothing else! and proceed with the steps. Do not ever flash anything ever with rommanager.

For your own sake, try to get fastboot working, it's going to make your life easier. If you're using Windows 8 you're out of luck as the drivers are not correctly signed. (at least that was the case when I tried it last)

Check my response in the other thread.
Its tricky but doable and quite worth it, since fastboot is very powerfull.

You'll have to get fastboot working, no way around it then. There are a ton of links to different versions of drivers in this and other forums, one of them will work.

There may be another way, IF the current ROM has adb installed.
Flash CWM in odin
Go to Settings->Developer options- and set Android debugging to on.
Go to the command line (on the platform-tools folder of the android sdk) and type "adb devices".
If it identifies the device, an id will appear; then type "adb reboot recovery" which should reboot the device into CWM.

Phone is essentially bricked

Okay, I have the HTC One for Sprint. I flashed it using TWRP 2.5 and I can only currently access the bootloader.
I accidentally wiped everything off my phone and when I plug it in my computer sometimes recognizes it has HTCONE or as Android Device, either way I cannot send files over using adb sideload. Gives me the error that there is no device.
Currently my device somehow also got "unrooted" in the process. I am looking at the phone not being able to transfer any roms I want over to install a new OS nor can I restore it to the old OS.
Is there anything I can do?
PS: I did install the drivers and other devices. If someone can please help me even over teamviewer it would absolutely make my day. I have been troubleshooting this device for about 30 hours straight now.
Since you can access bootloader, you'll probably be ok..
What happens when you try to access recovery?
what happens in "fastboot usb" in your bootloader when you command
Code:
fastboot devices
If your device shows just do
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
Download one of these recoveries (since you have the Sprint version) <- this will get you into recovery if you're not already able to access it..

Well I have the recovery since thats the only one I can access. Thing is though neither of my computers can recognize the device and I cannot send the rom necessary to boot the OS.
I can access the Bootloader and I can access the Recovery. I cannot access the memory on the phone in order to send files over

important part is getting the phone working again then worry about unlocking bootloader
Can always try flashing a custom ROM using an OTG cable if you've wiped the OS. I always wipe my storage and OS when I do a clean install and then flash the ROM straight from my flash drive ... Obviously you'll need to fastboot a custom recovery, if you are able to.

When you're in recovery do adb devices. If it shows your phone you can sideload a ROM.

hi bro, that happened to me as well, i have installed usb driver but adb cannot detect my device. I was running windows 8 that time but when i used windows 7 adb was able to detect my device with no issues and i was able to transfer custom rom zip file to it. I dont know if that could help you but i'm just sharing my experience.

I can access the bootloader and the recovery (switched to PhilZ touch) and sideloaded a couple roms but NONE of them work. One of the roms boots up and goes in a restart loop after hitting the front page (no icons on the screen just top bar) Even the stock version of htc one for sprint didn't work it kept resetting my device.
I tried using the RUU also but it gives me a bootloader error saying it cannot be restored after a few minutes of loading.
Well every rom so far attempted has been a dead end. CM, AOKP, all have booted and started a restart loop. I am not sure if its my kernal or anything else.
I just need some help. What I did notice is that even if the devices were working I had no cell signal. Someone please help lol

Start by reinstalling the drivers.
---------- Post added at 12:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:28 PM ----------
The reason you cant get to recovery is because the method you used (the only method) to root this phone overwrites the recovery partition in order to gain read/write access to the system partition. In order for you to get things going again you need to fastboot the system, and recovery partitions. If that doesn't work, you will have to flash completely back to stock.
i installed all the drivers once again and it stils not working, i am at the same. in de ADB console it recognizes the phone but only by the way that i said. i cant get in fastboot because when i type in the console ADB reboot bootloader it reboots into the fastboot but them it doesnt recognize the phone
there is no more ways for flash a new room? or something like that?

Please help! Need urgent help with HTC One SAFE MODE CANT DO ANYTHING!!!

Hi, I have a problem with my ONE M7 from last night.
I was watching a video on my phone and then I tried to turn up the volume and the button wasn't working.
Then I tried to put the volume down and it was working, and I turned up in the touch screen.
After 1-2 minutes the volume down button wasn't working too so I reboot the phone pressing long time the lock/power button until it said wait 3,2,1 to reboot.
After that, the phone booted, but no sounds were heared on the HTC logo, and my phone is booting up on SAFE MODE.
The volume buttons aren't working (I searched for safe mode and there are only few posts, and the persons who experienced this the volume button on their phones wasn't working too) and I don't know what to do... the volume is working, if I try it manually in options it works, but the problem is that the phone is on SAFE MODE, the volume buttons aren't working and I don't know what to do.
I tried to update to 4.4.2 but I can't because the SW actualization option it doesn't appear to me that is on SAFE MODE. I tried to put out fast reboot but everything is the same... I have a rom on it, rooted, etc... and the problem is I can't take it to the official support of HTC because they will throw it out.
And the big problem is the phone can't enter on recovery or fastboot or either of those options. If I press vol. down button and power button and after the htc logo i release the power but i still press the down button nothing happens, and in a friend's one it starts quickly the bootloader mode.
Is there a app or something to enter directly to recovery ? Can I put a recovery as I can't enter bootloader mode ? What can I do ? I am so scared this phone costed me a lot of money and now I can only do a few things with it, because it's in safe mode and half of the apps even doesn't appear (only stock ones) but they're appear as installed on applications... :crying:
Press the power button until lights flash. Keep pressing till message says press to reboot phone.
Your phone should now be out of safe mode.

Hi, i've done that a couple of times and now another time and still SAFE MODE.
I tried to restore all I restored the phone via settings and in a moment the phone said entering recovery mode and it appeared my touch cwm recovery and it wiped all to factory, but still on safe mode, and the same thing done if i restart it pressing long time the button... What can I do ?
The problem as I said i'm root with custom rom etc... :crying: and the official support won't support me.
Isn't there any application to enter recovery or bootloader mode without pressing buttons ? I think it doesn't enter because the vol. buttons aren't working because the damned safe mode.
I know that there is an application that I have several time ago on my Optimus G that can directly boot in recovery mode, name or any similar compatible with One ? Please It's very urgent :crying::crying::crying:
EDIT: LOL I can't install any app because if i install it, it appears on apps list but I can't launch it and if I try to launch it directly from apps list it doesn't launch too...
There is a app called quickboot or you can use Rom toolbox

The problem is that in safe mode 3rd party apps won't work.
The other problem is that I can't enter fastboot or recovery, and my phone is rooted, s-off, bootloader unlocked, custom rom, custom recovery... im screwed up :crying:
What can I do ? HTC support won't help me, because mostly it seems to be HW problem that the vol. buttons I think they're broken, because as I said from last night from seeing a video happened this to me... If it's HW problem and not SW even if it's rooted and all of that they will repair it ?
But I don't know 100% if its HW problem because this problem is very very very rare and from the few users with the same problem, like I see on internet, they're vol. buttons won't work too...
Use cmd fastboot commands when phone is plugged in computer. Google how to do it/set up.
Should be able to enter recovery like that. I recommend flashing/resetting everything.

The problem is that he cannot get into fastboot mode. The volume down key isn't working. So, he cannot use any fastboot commands

Since you cannot get into fastboot mode, the fastboot commands are absolutely useless. Try this:
Let your phone boot up normally in safe mode. Enable usb debugging in settings-developer (Tap on build number 7 times to activate developer mode)
Then, on your computer, open the fastboot/adb folder
Connect your phone through the usb cable and type:
'adb reboot bootloader'
without quotation marks. Now see if u can get into fastboot
