Okay, so first of all, thanks to all who take the time to actually look at this thread.
The Problem
Okay, so, my little brother has the Galaxy Mini, he set a lock on it (you know the one where you drag your finger to the points on the screen? the 3 x 3 block of circles?) Well, anyway, he forgot his password and has now had his phone "system locked". Anyway, there is an option to sign into his google account on screen though and that would solve the problem, but guess what? Yep, you got it! The little cretin has forgotten his email and password. I tried mine but that didn't work, so I guess it has to be his own.
My question is this: What if anything, can I do to solve this problem?
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

For me I had to open my phone and resolder the volume keys but now it's work for me and open is easy
Some month ago the home button stopped working (as pushbutton and as fingerprint sensor). I think that I can repair it on my own, but I don't find anything on the web about where I can buy this part. Could someone help me? Thanks in advance
Sorry for my bad english
Got exactly same...
When i started facing this issue , i thought it to be HW problem.. The button used to work if i press along one of the corners, but finger print didnt work.. THen i thought why shouldnt i give a try to this procedure which has solved most of the SW problems for me...(My phone is not rooted)
enable developer options
enable advance reboot
Press and hold Power button
select reboot
select Recovery
select wipe cache, then
Reboot System
Hope this works for you as well Fingers crossed...
I got same problem. I bought the pushbutton on Aliexpress (it costs a lot: 22€). I tried to change the home button but it is under all the components so I give it up because I didn't want to hurt the phone. After a year I have yet the same problem. I hope that with @ragas_017 advice it will work!
But I recommend: don't buy the home button!
facing the same issue , will this recovery reboot effects the data in the mobiel

Not sure if it was the new UI or Android 9 but has anybody else noticed that the start up seems to take ages? Certainly longer than previously?

I experienced the same issue as you after pie upgrade. However sorted it by wiping the cache. Now it's back to normal. Give it a try.

Great thanks for the speedy reply. I'll just google wiping the cache and let you know if it worked

It's very simple. Turn off ur Note 9. Once it's off wait for 10 secs. Then press the volume up + Bixby + power button together. Once you see the Samsung logo let go off the keys. Now you select wipe cache partition with volume up and down keys. Press power button to confirm. Once done select reboot now. That's it.

If wiping the Cache Partition doesn't work. Back up your device and perform a hard factory reset. That should resolve your software issues.
Hi. I tried to do a wipe cache after installing update from Android 9 to Android 10 (no root, stock usage only).
I can not find the wipe cache option after rebooting into recovery.
Can anyone help please?

Try from eRecovery
Power off the device, hold volume up and connect the charger, white EMUI screen should appear with a wipe cache option

Thank you for your feedback. I tried that, I only find the option Clear Data. I do not know what exactly happens by clicking that....

Try it without the charger, power off the device, hold volume up & power until you see that same white EMUI screen
See if the clear cache option appears
Why do you want to clear the cache anyway? It automatically does that after installing updates
Click on clear data, then open the second page, to select clear cache
