Does anyone know if the Captivate will receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update? I'm talking about officially getting it and also via xda. I'm asking because I've heard that the origional Nexus S will be receiving the update so shouldn't this phone as well?

The nexus s is getting it because its by google so it gets the latest update first, nexus one might get it as well, I don't see the captivate officially getting it but supposedly any phone running gingerbread will be able to run ics

Your best bet will probably Cyanogenmod or a AOSP, doubt samsung will release ICS on this phone. On that note stop with the asking. No one really knows and what is known can be found already....

You do Understand that Cyanogenmod just recently got a actual release for our phones. Took all this long to get a GB release.... Who knows how long it would take for ICS, not to mention that they would need devs to actually port. Alot of people leaving Captivates now a days since most are renewing soon.
How happy, a phone that is not made in China, didn't believe it at the beginning, but that makes it a little but of special :thumbup:

The nexus 4 is modular so the only thing for sure is that it's assembled in Korea but every component should be made in any place.
But I agree with the rest of you; what's is wrong with Chinese made phones? There are some really impressive Chinese made phones (Jiayu, Meizu, Oppo, etc) and MTK processors are good enough for smartphones...
The technology you know about in China only scratches the surface. You should try living here

I don't care where it's made. I support my Country, Canada, but I'm not going to slam China for making one of the best Nexus' I've had. Not classy dude.

We all know a Motorola device received KitKat even before Nexus users, here we see a purported Sony Xperia running Android 4.4.2, which is newer than even found on the Nexus 5 .
Is this the reason we bought Nexus? How unfaithful Google could be.

If you look closer that picture than you see that the font of the number 2 is not the same whit the rest so FAKE.
P.S. i saw some galaxy S3 clones and it said 4.2.2 but it was definitely gingerbread

This elitist attitude by some Nexus users is annoying. I thought that was supposed to die out with the Samsung fanboys when Google stopped updating for the Galaxy Nexus.
You're already getting good value for the price you pay. Why are you whining that Google is releasing (or helping to release) version updates faster for other devices, isn't that a good thing for the Android ecosystem. Is it necesary to have the latest version only for yourself to validate your self-worth and feel superior to others because you have a device with a unique brand name?

I believe I've received the January models. It shipped running 4.2.2, and the box was different from what I've seen. It's plain white (16GB white version) now. The box also confirms it's the 312k.

Look, we've already had the 311k thread locked. It's not a version. Its a month. We DO NOT need a thread for every month of the year.
We have a defects thread. We have an rma thread. These places can be used to discuss returns and faults. We don't need to discuss the fact that the serial number changes every month!

There is an app in the Play Store called "Wally" that I have been using now for a couple of months and I just came across this thread and decided to go to the app and type on "City Blur" and came across some wallpaper somewhat similar to what you all are looking for here if not better!
Give Wally a try and see if that helps any

Why not just go outside during sunset and shoot one like that and blur it yourself? That way it would be to the exact specification you'd like. Maybe I will try this tonight to see how it goes.
