Milestone region and update news?

Hi:
I bought my Milestone in India around August 2010.
I wanted to know when the 2.2 update will roll out for my device - I checked the Motorola Android Software Upgrade News page but couldn't find a Milestone for India in the list (guessing it's APAC then.. is it?).
Here are my device's details:
Firmware version: 2.1 update1
Firmware configuration version: GAS_EMEA_USASHLS00RTINT_P016
Baseband version: 3GSMEPU91A_U_91.07.56I
Kernel version: 2.6.29-omap1
Build number: SHOLS_U2_02.36.0
How can I find out which region my device belongs to, and how these details decide when the 2.2 build will roll out?
I would also appreciate it if someone could tell me how to find this out from the above details.
Thanks & regards!
Rampee

Regarding OTA upgrade to 2.2, it will release in EU first. You can always update it manually.

you should post it in right place (Motorola Droid and Milestone General)
Thanks Silesh!
Do you suggest waiting for the OTA? What is your opinion on rooting & flashing custom ROMs to bring it to 2.2?
@sharljimhtsin Sorry, my bad

You can safely root and upgrade to a variety of custom 2.2 ROMS available. There are a few of them available like CM6, Cronos, Miui etc. I am running cronos ATM. You can get your stone back to stock anytime. Its very easy.
Though you will not get battery life as in 2.1, you will get a lot of other cool features with 2.2.
Knowing Motorola, we would be lucky if we get the froyo update in during this qtr.

Middle East & Europe supose to get thier updates by Q4 2010>
on Xmas, I read on GSMArena, that Motorola made another delay to Q1 2011.
Meaning by the end of Q4, mostly we'll have Gingerbread with the efforts of xds, GOT, Doshaka & CM.
Do not wait for it my friend, get it from here its save & awsome.

Best firmware upgrade?

Hi all
My daughter has a galaxy mini, originally on Tesco mobile, that i would like to up grade for her. I think it is currently running with 2.2.1 (FROYO)
Any suggestions for the best upgrade to go for (via ODIN)? Gingerbread 2.3.6 seems to be on here as a tutorial but as it was from May i was wondering if any of the newer firmware releases are suitable?
Many thanks

100% safe to boot with no bootloader at all (which means breaking it is near impossible)
i'd recommend 2.3.4 or 2.3.5

[Q] Rooting LG Optimus Black P970 Android 2.2.2 (Froyo) V10a

SORRY MOVED THIS TO Q&A WORKING ON DELETING THIS!
Hello xda developers,
Phone Details:
Model: LG-P970g

Yes I'm a n00b but I'm not completely helpless...
The Video (I can't post links yet:crying:

After watching the beginning of this he makes it seem like you must update to android 2.3.4 first. Which is the reason I ask this question in the first place, because LG Electronics no longer supports the update to android 2.3.4 with the LGMobile Support Tool for the P970. I called tech support last week and it's definitely not supported...:crying:
However since we are flashing the phone with the patched version of V20I_00.kdz as a .bin and .fls file doesn't that mean we are flashing the entire ROM to the phone and not just patching the current version of the ROM installed? Thus updating the phones firmware in the process anyway?
I know there are others out there with this question and nothing in the forum has identified this for me I've been looking for the answer for a solid week now, I wish to address this question before proceeding to prevent bricking my phone because I do need it.
Hope to chat soon!

You're wrong , if you want to update your phone via bcc tool , it will update your phone to 2.3.4 and from there to 4.0.4 .

you should ask this in the i9300 Q&A thread, they could help you out better, but as far as i know you will remain unlocked
once lock is removed you can flash what ever you like and it will still stay unlocked...even custom, or official samsung
