No notifications on Sprint S4 on 4.3 Please Help - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I couldn't wait to get my hands on a 4.3 S4 rom so I could have fully functioning Galaxy Gear. I am currently running Sacs 4.3 v3. I am currently not receiving any notifications. I have read and searched many threads and forums. I have lock screen on so that is not an issue. I have all the notifications turned on under settings in Gear manager. I have factory reset my Gear multiple times. I have completely uninstalled gear manager and reinstalled. None of the changes have done anything for me and I am frankly getting irritated. On Sac v8 4.2 i was getting gmail and facebook alerts but even those are not functioning now. I was able to go into Samsung apps and download the latest version of Gear manager so at least the Samsung app store is recognizing 4.3. In short I'm not sure if there is something wrong with my Gear, the rom, or more than likely my self!!!!! The only thing I can think of is that one of the tweaks to the rom may have broken the passing of notifications to my Galaxy Gear. My next step Will be to install a stock rooted rom and see if that works, but haven't had the time and really really don't want to go with out Sacs Rom. Is there anything that needs to be left alone in a rom in-order to keep Gear function? Any help would be grateful.
Thanks.

I posted a message for sacs with this thread. Hopefully he will look into it.

Thanks.....I have been in contact with Sacs, he doesn't have a Gear for testing (wish I could just buy him one LOL), and I know he is so busy hate to bother him. I was hoping some one else that has a Gear and does rom development might be able to shed some light as to what may need to be added removed or left alone in order to have Gear compatibility in a rom. Again Im not even sure it is the rom. I will try to install stock this afternoon and see if that fixes things for me. This way I will know if it is the rom or something else.

Let me know if stock works. I too was waiting for 4.3. It was the only thing holding me back from buying it. I will wait to see.

I'm running Sacs 4.3 v3 on Sprint GS4, notifications work fine on my Gear. Have you tried complete wipe and reflashing 4.3? Just about to load v3.1, I'll let you know how that goes.

Okay I'm running Sac's 4.3 v3.1, with Gear Manager v1.4.102802 and Gear ROM ver. V700XXUAMII.
Tested these notifications and they work as expected:
-Incoming calls
-Missed call
-SMS
-Gmail
-Hangouts
Although I do disable these and use ATN Manager for the detailed Hangout and Gmail messages.

Great I will do a clean install and see what I can figure out......like I said I knew it was probably me. Does the weather work on yours?

Ok reinstalled sacs 4.3 v3 from scratch and installed samsung apps, then gear manager before restoring anything. Everything on the Gear works perfect.......so I deceided to test and see if it was the kernel. I installed KT's kernel and gear is still working. So in short I must be stupid because I am not sure what I did last time when I installed sacs 4.3. The only thing left to try is to reinstall my apps and see if that breaks the notifications. I will let you know how it goes.......Thanks for all your help.

[Q] Galaxy s3 and Galaxy gear? help!

Hi!
Ive been trying to pair my brand new Galaxy gear with my Samsung Galaxy s3 Int,
Curent ROM: Cyanogenmod 10.2-20131115-NIGHTLY-i9300
Version: 4.3.1
So i found this apk that should work on any devise for Galaxy gear.
Installed, when i try to pair the device over NFC and Bluetooth i get this message:
Saying; com.samung.andriod.sdk.accessory.ssdkunsup portedException: Device not supported.
I've been trying to search as much as possible at that error message with no results.
Any clues what u should try next ?
(cant really post links yet)
as far as i know, you can't use Gear on custom rom on S3. at least not yet.
i'm using 'official leaked' 4.3 firmware that is bugged and crash a lot, but it works.

Well i was able to connect it with NFC and Bluetooth, so yeah, everything is working atm, Now i'm installing a few apps and see if u run in to something.
Thou kinda whana try lastest Gear manager and see the newer Notifications service..
I'm currently on the Tmobile USA 4.3 TW rom and paired up my Gear with no problems, all functions work properly. I also updated the Gear to the lastest firmware using odin, since the update has not being pushed by samsung here in the US as of yesterday. After updating thru odin, all notifications are being pushed, just remember to also update your Gear Manager app.

There are the page for install galaxy gear manager 1.5...
http://forumxda-developers.blogspot.mx/2013/11/t-mobile-galaxy-s4-42-users-howto-gear.html
FINALLY found a way to get Gear Manager 1.5 working with full notifications on a stock, rooted Galaxy S4. Here's how -
REQUIREMENTS - Null_rom on the Gear, 4.2 stock T-Mobile rooted on your S4. Might work non-rooted, I'm unsure.
1 - Install Null_rom on your Gear (most recent version)
2 - Download the attached .zip file and extract
3 - Install GR.GearManagerStub.apk FIRST. As soon as it's done, reboot your phone and Gear (DO NOT RUN GEAR MANAGER YET)
4 - After rebooting, Install GearManager_1.5.111304.apk
5 - Reboot phone again to be sure.
Start up Gear Manager, pair it, profit.
NOTE: This will wipe and restore your Gear, be aware that although null_rom will continue and you'll stay rooted the sideloaded apps will disappear and need to be reloaded.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/y4w3ciobo1...20Files).zip
I'm using a Dropbox link temporarily to get this out there, but if someone can post a more permanent location for the file I'd appreciate it since I need to delete this one soon. I'll update OP with a new link once someone has it hosted.

Problem after Loading ML1 Firmware

I am a little confused. I loaded the new ML1 firmware with success. However when I installed novaluancher prime APK and run the launcher I cannot install any of the widgets whether they be clocks or whatever. When I was running the MK7 firmware I did not have any such problem. Is there something that I am doing wrong. I did not upgrade my Gear Manager firmware as I remain on 1.5.123002
Did you install as a system app?

Brendo, In Wondershare I loaded it under the APP category. I do not know if that is a system area or not. I just added it to the rest of the listed apps. Was that not correct. Everytime I try to now load a widget it says Nova Launcher has stopped

hi
if you are not rooted/custom rom..and on stock rom ML1/GM 1.5 ( like i am )
and you load NOVA (@ wondershare )...
Nova , will install ,but you will not be able to access/place any widgets on gear
and yes even if you tried you will get "Nova " force closing..
ask me i tested it a while back to see what happens ..!! !!
also some other functions of Nova will most likely work ,thats it.!!
(if you are on custom rom// or root ... yes ..different story?)
good luck

Alright everyone I figured it out. I think before loading the new ML1 firmware I reset the watch to stock where it was no longer rooted and no longer had a custom null rom (I believe, remember I am new to this). Anyway, I went back and rooted the device all over after I reloaded the recovery. Then I loaded Null 18 and now my widgets and everything work with the Nova Launcher.
Thanks everyone for trying to assist me and I am on my way to another future mess up---trust me!!!

[Q] Compatibility with S4 Google Edition KitKat ROM

I have an S4 and when I flashed the Infamous GE 4.4.2 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341936), I was not able to get most of the GearManager apps to work like:
-Text SMS Notifications
-Samsung Apps Appstore install
-SVoice
These did work though:
-Video/Camera Pictures
-Answer/Reject Calls
So I went back to a Stock Rooted 4.3 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545711) and everything worked.
Does anyone know how to get everything working on a custom KitKat ROM? Do you just need to install all the samsung gear apps/services on the custom ROM?
You need Touchwiz for everything to work
Does TouchWiz have to be default, or just installed?

[Q] App Installing issues

Hello! I'm new to XDA Developers, so pardon my noobiness.
Basically, I purchased a galaxy gear off ebay, but my samsung galaxy S3 is only running 4.1.3 as stupid Telstra have not rolled out the 4.3 update for the S3 GT-i9305T. I was able to connect my galaxy gear to it by installing gear manager, and most features work... except the apps. When I try install an app, this error comes up: "Installation Failed. Try again later.(0)" and I have no idea what to do.
Basically what I'm wondering if there is a fix for this, or if it is possibly to somehow install 4.3 if my carrier hasn't rolled it out yet.
Thanks!
-Louis

I remember reading on this forum (either in this questions sub-forum or in the General sub-forum), others have talked about apps issues with different versions of gear manager. There is a thread in the General sub-forum that talks about different versions of gear manager. You guys might want to look through that thread and see which version of gear manager works best for your needs. I say that because I remember others were saying that the newest version of gear manager is not necessarily the best at keeping all the apps you installed.
good luck guys.

I think your situation may be a little different than OP's. From your sig your gear is rooted with null rom 26 (btw where did you find that, I thought the latest null rom is only 23?), so you would have a custom recovery on your gear already. Then all you need is to load the apks through bluetooth file transfer on to the gear, and intall it from the gear directly, you don't need gear manager at all for this.
As for why your s3 is not recognizing the gear, I am not sure. I had my note 2 on dn3 kitkat with latest gear manager (1.7 something I think) connected to my gear on null 23 rom and everything was working, including bluetooth file transfer, and I was able to install apks by bluetooth file transfer and then install from the gear itself.

On my note 2 with dn3 v4 beta 2, the downloaded apks from my playstore are in root/factory, different devices may have it in different name.
If you are talking about apks downloaded from internet or transferred from PC, then it most likely will be in root/sdcard/download folder.

I am not sure why your s3 does not connect to the gear, sorry I cannot help as I do not have a s3. one would think it is capable as I have seen gear with null rom connected to s2 before. Perhaps someone else who has a s3 and gear can chime in and lend a hand here?
One thing though, if you have apk's that you would like on the gear, I would recommend staying with android for now, as Tizen is still too new, and of the few apps thats available, they are all from the official Samsung Store, at the moment we cannot install third party apps without going through Samsung Store on Tizen.

Connecting with custom rom?

Hello everybody. I'm very new to this forum but extremely interested. So after a week of having a bricked phone I finally was able to install Pac rom. I'm running the latest stable version. I wanted to use my Galaxy gear with my gs4. I have some questions. My gear is running null rom build 23. But I factory reset it because I haven't used it in a month and just wanted a fresh start. Sadly I can't download the Samsung app store for some reason on my phone??? I've tried using a Galaxy gear Manger apk but every time I connect my gear to it the files won't download and they won't connect. Now my gear is stuck in the setup wizard. Please help. If anyone knows how to use a Galaxy gear and set it up with a custom rom let me know.

I've tried so many samsung apks and none have worked. Why does this one work??? Hahaha thank you so much.
