Moto X and Nova Launcher Beta - Moto X Q&A

Is anyone who has a Moto X, stock non rooted with the latest update, using the newest beta version of Nova Launcher that has the KitKat features, able to get the transparent nav bar? That was wordy, everything else works for MW I just can't get the transparent bar. Its the same old semi transparent. Any ideas?

Do the stock Moto X features like always-listening Google Now or active notifications work with a 3rd party launcher?

I don't see those options. I'm using Nova Prime 2.2.3.

I only get the semi transparent navbar with the new Nova. Xposed and root let me make it fully transparent.

I think that is what is was supposed to do, bring it back to the semi-transparent not 100% transparent.

cool, but that's not telling me how you did it
with gravity box, I can't get it to make all the taskbar icons white, or get it so that transparency is correct.

Well, if you are going to make me spell it out and hold your hand (by that I mean force me to remember what I did ), I am pretty sure that I used motoXposed to change the NavBar background color to #00000000, which is fully transparent. Gravity box didn't want to let it change to transparent without it changing back randomly. Gravity box will give a fully transparent statusbar, if you want that. Gravity box will also allow you to change the icon colors, but since I cannot seem to get the clock to stay white, I quit fighting it, and have left them blue.
Overall, I like the look now.

it doesn't quite look right, is what I mean.

This is me on stock launcher, using only xposed and gravity box. I can make them both lighter, but this is what I prefer.

This is me with Nova beta (only change) and you can see it nukes the gravity transparency. I read the release notes in full, and he mentions transparent navbar is only supported in 4.4.

Got it toggled transparency settings in gravity box then flipped the wallpaper. Not sure if glitch or not, but I'll take it.

I was reading about the new Nova beta...not sure why you would use that instead of the actual kitkat launcher that can be found in the apps section here. I was a die hard nova fan, but I'm finding the new 'ge' launcher to be top notch.

Gravity box.
And I don't use the N5 launcher because Voice was shaky for me, even after all the fixes. I use it a lot. I do prefer it though, but the appeal of transparent status bars is something that launcher can't offer.

Thanks for taking the time, very cool idea. This is probably an obvious question to you, but how can I back out the change? I really like the red toggles, but the overall effect doesn't work for me. Do I need to reflash the whole Viper ROM? I suppose I should have done a nano backup.

Halo for all roms

So I was looking around and discovered this bad boy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419287 only problem is that it uses notification bar for the float if your using the modified halo))) apk. I just started messing around with this but I took someones advice with the sao launcher and it works perfectly. Going to try it with bubble launcher and see how it goes.
Edit: bubble launcher is pretty cool. I'd recommend it and if u really enjoy it I recommend donating. Bubble launcher resembles the halo apk from paranoid to an extent but slightly different.
Edit2: just tried floating notification and its just like halo after setting it up right. Only downfall is its a 30 day trial so after awhile you have to buy which I do recommend if you want the stock halo look.

If you don't mind, could you outline your installation process to get this to work?
Here was how I got it to work.
1. Install Floating Notifications and enable it in the Accesibility menu.
2. Select the box labeled "Launch Apps in Halo Mode"
3. Go to the app notifications menu and check which ones you want it to notify you for. HINT: if you want a real halo experience the rightmost icon in the app list will make the icon stay floating.
4. This is a personal preference: Go to Customize in Floating Notifications and select "Dock after a few seconds of inactivity" and then at the bottom set "Amount of the icon hidden when docked:" to 55%. If it is more than 55% then you will have trouble clicking the stack.
5. REBOOT PHONE.
Now for the Xposed part.
1. Install Xposed Framework
2. REBOOT PHONE.
3. Go into Xposed Installer and go to "Downloads" and select XHaloFloatingWindow, and then install it.
4. REBOOT PHONE.
5. Go into Xposed Installer and go into "Modules" and check the box "XHaloFloatingWindow".
6. For safe measure REBOOT PHONE. And then you're done
Lemme know if y'all need any help!
Also on the reboots it hung on the splash for a while.
Oh yeah not responsible if your device catches fire.
using this will make the sense stock messager app from working properly as you won't be able to see the "SEND" button in the halo window

Just make sure you're following the directions they give and make sure to do a full reboot. I've gotten many fc's after applying the layer which is normal, manually reboot and you'll be fine.

Anybody know a nice dark theme that's working on marshmallow?
Magpie or outerspace provides a good dark layer, the realdarkslim is another. There is quite a few on the play store but magpie has so many options its ridiculous.

[Substratum] anything else for Samsung?

Was just wondering if there are any other compatible Substratum add ons that work on an unrooted nougat Note 8. Attached screenshot shot of what I have already. Thanks.

You're way behind the curve, there are bunches that work on Note 8 Nougat. There may even be some more that I'm not aware of but these are all that I have.
Yeah. I only overlay the apps not system UI .
I wish there was a method to change folder graphics. Currently I have to download a theme to help change my folders that contain apps.

That's awesome cheers. Now I don't have to concern myself with immersive mode as the status bar and nav buttons are pretty dark thus less chance of screen burn. Infact now I'll probably just keep nav bar from auto hiding.

Just got to now figure a way to make the fixed navigation bar transparent. While maintaining the dark navigation buttons.

I've been messing with Substratum Wings, the best I can do is get settings navbar black, but then the navbar icons are also black.
Was hoping to achieve a transparent fixed Navbar across all screens ( settings and home ) with dark visible navbar icons.

Does anyone know which overlay if any can change the color of the weather and clock app? It's the widgets on home screen.
