He saying its for people who don't know how to follow directions or are afraid to root because they aren't technically inclined. From what I've seen its a one click noob proof method.
Considering were xda members, we're already familiar with rooting and flashing ROMs, this isn't for us.

im out

Watched qbkings video on it earlier and I have to say that cyanogen has really out done themselves. It's looks really clean and easy to use. It's perfect for people new to android modding.

All the new kids on the forums looking to flame. More curious on how CM has been doing getting prepared to release the oppo. Nice to know it works. Btw. Ofc the people here know how to flash. Currently on beanstalk ~~

Tried It
Just from my experience, it works well! Used it while running Elegancia 20.0 (with S-Off)
I did encounter a bug though. After it sideloads the rom for the first time, you need to manually reboot into recovery for it to install the apps or else you'll be stuck in a animation bootloop.

So what all does it do? I know it unlocks the bootloader for you, but does it install a recovery as well, or just install the ROM and leave it at that?

Kudos the dev team for the installer app
Tried it myself on my HTC device. Works pretty good. But it has its faults as the installer will stump a couple of people not familiar with loading roms, unlocking devices, and recovery menus.
1. You gotta install HTC sync to install the HTC USB drivers. Then un-install the HTC syn software only. I had to debug this process on my end b/c the SYC software would cause a conflict with the Cynanogen installer. And was having issues when putting the device in debug mode > from the developer options.
2. The installer did unlock my phone, asked for token and all.
3. During the rom install, it did reboot the phone and caused me start the whole process over again; this happened about 2 times.
4. It does not install Gapps, you must get them and side load them via the recovery menu.
Other than that it worked like it was supposed to. It flash the follwing:
-CM 10.2-20131101-SNAPSHOT-InstallerBeta3-m7spr
-Android 4.3.1
Alas it did not fix the camera issue that has been plaguing some users ( a blue purple tint when taking pictures). Overrall its a good step in helping "teh noobs" in using custom roms on their smartphones.

You know you sound ridiculous, right? I know how and have rooted/flashed so many roms on my Evo that I got kind of burnt out. I was one of the early adopters that had to go through the 45 min, you could very possibly brick your phone, root method. The two reasons I haven't gone through it with the One is I don't have the time, but more importantly, I don't have the patience. This takes away all effort/worry/questions. I was probably going to just let the One be, now I will most likely root in the next few days. Do I necessarily want CM? No. This will make me put it on my phone and try it before I flash something else now though.
That is my thinking as an experienced flasher. "Knowing how" and choosing to do it the inefficient way sounds like you are a hipster or something.

So right from a stock phone without root, s-off, unlocked bootloader, etc... It'll unlock, root, and install CWM, and CyanogenMod? Wow... They've really pulled off a miracle.

The thing is, nobody's really wrong here. If you already are familiar with the process of flashing, than this is of little use to you, other than checking it out. If you are new to flashing, this gives you a more safe and simple way to go about it. Whether or not you use or like CM, it is still a great leap forward that a development group is taking it upon themselves to offer solutions to problems that plague any user with a taste for customization. And we are all hipsters here, in the sense that the vast majority of device users have no idea what we do here or how we do it. Even more don't care. I think everybody finds that it is easy to misunderstand or read attitude where there is none actually intended. It happens to me all the time. My penny and a half.

I tried it, unfortuantely, it just rebooted the phone into the bootloader and stops. I'm sure it's because I have twrp installed. I have no idea how to switch from twrp to cyanogen.
EDIT: Okay their wiki is a lot better now, AND the mountpoints are correct! cyanogen recovery worked, flashing last nights 10.2 nightly, wish me luck!
I'm gonna miss my HTC Sense I think :\

If you like Sense, but want some custom features too, and a really cool UI, try Renovate.....don't normally plug my or anyone else's work in another thread, but I was floored. The first stock-based ROM that dragged me away from Beanstalk...

I tried it. Got the same problem a few people ran into having to reboot manually in the middle of it.
One issue I've run into is I cannot connect to 4g LTE and there's no toggle for it anywhere. Anyone know a fix to this?

It was quick and easy to run it again...if you've already done it the first time it's just going to update to the newest recovery version...about 5 minutes of your time
well we've all used it, its the only way right now to get roms and easily get into adb in recovery, its very easy to do
just reflashed the updated version and did fine
Just did it... im pretty familiar with android but not using a tool to flash recovery. Tried a couple of different ROMs but waiting for something that is actually better than my senseUI people complain but its better tan stock. Just makes for longer update waits. It's all good man. Basically...with the encrypted bootloader, only "official" roms would allow the phone to boot. So if a custom rom was flashed, it would stay in recovery mode. With this, if everything goes right, the custom recovery will allow the flashing of roms and booting back into android. Hope that makes sense.
No risk. We're all here to help and learn.
The reason this is exciting is that it is the first step towards custom ROMs.
To explain further: Recovery is used on a stock phone to help you recover when you have screwed something up by taking you back to the same state the phone was in when you first unboxed it by loading the stock ROM. Loading a custom recovery, if 100% successful would then allow you to load custom ROMs. However, the X also has encryption that requires a signature on the ROM that is loaded before it will actually boot the phone with the custom ROM.
I think there is some stuff that I missed here but this is the general idea.
The one thing I'm not 100% certain of is if they're going need to work on the encryption still or if a custom recovery gets around that. In this case for some reason I'm getting the sense that the encryption isn't stopping birdman.
all i can say is gimmmmeeeeeeeeee

This is huge. We should see custom ROMs shortly after we see a released CR.
Unfortunately, we'll only see custom roms with stock kernels, which isn't quite ideal. I'm still enthusiastic about this though.
True, but we will get a 2.2 kernel when Froyo is released for the X and that will make things just that much better.
I say we look at the fact that we're going to get custom ROMs on a device that is supposed to be totally locked down, even though we will not have custom kernels.
I realize we're not going to be able to truly load an overclocked our undervolted kernel. But the custom ROMs are going to rock.
Please pardon my noobiness here, but how does the kernel affect the roms we can load? Mainly can I load a CM 2.2 rom?

Nspbass - the kernel is what talks to all of the hardware on your phone and we would have to have an unlocked bootloader to put custom kernels on the phone. To load a custom ROM without a custom kernel means someone has to port CM 2.2 over to the X by making it work on a 2.1 kernel and we won't have a true version of Froyo.
However, when we get the 2.2ota update our rockstar devs will very likely get under the covers and give us a full 2.2 version.
One the + side they do have a dev phone that has 2.2.1 on it so we may see it sooner than we think.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: Check this out - we MAY be able to load alternate kernels in the future without unlocking the bootloader: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aMPUcY71Yc

I can't remember for sure, but backups made with an older recovery version won't restore on this version right? Is it still orange? The 4.x incredible 2 recovery is deep blue/purple, but I think it might be unique to that particular version. Pretty important difference I know.. But what might the benefits to the new version be?
Tried to wait and couldn't..
Flashed fine and all seems OK.

Not trying to be a **** but I don't think this should really be called CWM as Koush didn't make it. Unless he authorized someone else to mod it for him but the dev gives no indication that that was the case. I might be unaware that birdman took over CWM development in that case I apologize. It kind of misleads people into thinking this is from Koush and that they can expect it to show up in ROM Manager soon which it won't. Might have been better to name it Modded CWM 4.0.0.5.

Thats cool and like I said I wasn't trying to disrespect birdman just the name he choose is confusing. I saw the thread title and said cool Koush is putting out a new CWM and kept checking ROM manager for it. Finally came back here and followed the link and saw it wasn't Koush's work and was dissapointed. I only download from a few trusted dev's and not into trying alpha's unless absolutely necessary. Like when my Eris lost is trackball function last summer and a guy I met in the forums made the group a version of amon's recovery that didn't need it.

Q. When the status bar is hidden, how can I access the files on the device?
A. USB mass storage goes through the statusbar service, so it gets disabled too. Droid Explorer is an excellent tool to access the files on the phone, just make sure the phone has usb debugging enabled, since adb is still enabled.

A nandroid backup can bring some of the old sigs with it, causing problems, I've been using tibu with no problems. If having problems with the no wipe, the full wipe maybe what you need to do, I think the problem lies with the nandroid backup.

Great rom and thanks for your hard work. I am having a crazy issue with 3.0 running the HSB theme. After 2 days almost exactly my phone app disapears from the dock. The icon is just gone. I tried adding the shortcut with a long press and application shortcut, but it is not even listed as an option. However if I use a direct dial shortcut it calls just fine. really weird
I went back to stock and flashed again full wipe, same thing happened. I was reluctant to go to 3.4 just yet. has anyone else reported this issue?
Geeve
This is the first report of this issue. After you reflashed 3.0 did you reflash the theme or a different kernel? I'm just checking if this might be theme related or possibly kernel related. Crt and myself are using corn 6.03 it seems some of the newer versions are doing some funky stuff. We seen random reboots, and crt's phone actually called his voicemail while on the table using one of the newer versions of the corn kernel.

If the browser doesn't work download Opera or Dolphin. Will work just fine. We optimized that rom to run pretty damn good in these old heros. Just don't fill up the home screens and tons of apps or it will bog down.

How to install(might be a waste of time)
wipe ALL, flash FR-recovery, wipe ALL, reboot recovery, flash ROM, reboot. It is also recommended that you have an s-off bootloader, since FR is a recovery modification. It installed fine for the testers, so YMMV. But be warned, bricks are your fault, not someone elses Also, the CPU frequencies are now 245xxx (needs to be fixed, keep reading) - 729xxx (careful, some phones can only handle 691xxx). You need an overclock method (setCPU, overclock widget) to change the frequencies to 264xxx - 691xxx.
