Chromecast youtube dropping out - Google Chromecast

While trying to watch YouTube it randomly stops dead. If I tap a spot on the time line the video quickly starts again. I've had this thing about 5 hours and it is seriously getting on my nerves. Add to the fact that the chrome browser isn't mirroring I'm about to smash this thing to bits. Any help!?
Netflix seems to work flawlessly.
I've tried improving network connection but that hasn't helped.
YouTube has this issue even when played from the browser on pc.

Exact same problem on my chromecast and is happening only since last evening. As you said, Netflix is flawless and its only With YouTube.
Thank god its not the device but seems like software or YouTube server support for chromecast. Hope it will get a fix pretty soon

This started happening to me last night. Youtube will freeze after about 2:20. It will start again if I skip forward or back, but only for another 2 mins. Have never had a problem before and Netflix works fine. I'm glad it's not just me.

Are either of you able to cast your tabs to your TV screen? Because I am also unable to get that to work from my pc to the Chromecast.

I had the same exact issue last night when watching YouTube. It would stop dead, and the only way it would start back, was when I tap the stopped point on the timeline as well.

Even casting the chrome browser tab had issues.... but after a while it worked... I am pretty sure even the chrome tab cast is lill messed up... Looks like the chromecast got a software upgrade which is causing these issues....
Does anyone know if there was a software upgrade yesterday?

Update:
I just exchanged the unit I had for another one but unfortunately I'm having the same issues. The unit itself force updates on startup which is a shame. It would be nice to do a revert and see if the old software functions correctly.

Youtube freezing
Same problem with me. I have two Chromecasts and Youtube stops on both of them roughly every 2.5 minutes, from both a Nexus 5 and a Nexus 7. On 14th November around noon ET they were fine, but by the evening the problems had started. My Youtube app is showing as having updated on 14th Nov (although it's not showing up in the 'Recently updated' section in the Play app). Rebooting the Chromecasts, the android devices and the network all failed to eliminate the problem.

I have the same problem!!!

Mine seems to be fixed now.

Same here, YouTube was freezing yesterday at about 2 mins into any video. Tried it again tonight with zero issues. Happy, happy, happy...

I just watched a bunch of videos tonight without any issues. I'll try tab cast tomorrow and see if it works. I'd like to know exactly what was wrong. Did Google do an auto update.?

Its seems like Youtube works for non HD videos without problem. HD videos is not playing properly (shuttering, no voice, etc). Shutters more for music videos.

I'm still having problems too, no sound and stuttering video. I have two Chromecasts and they both do it. I'm in the UK though. I'm glad it snot just me, but slightly concerned yours all seem to be working now and mine doesn't
Everything else works fine.

This stuttering on hd videos really aggravating. My 3 year old is unable to watch lungi dance, so now I actually have to be a good parent early on a Saturday morning. Damn you Google!

I just tested a few HD vids and yes there was stuttering, almost If the Chromecast couldn't buffer properly.

same issue here in germany, tested with Nexus 4, 5, 7 and chrome on Pc

From today morning YouTube app is not loading from the chrome cast. From mobile app, I am getting no network try again message.
I have a feeling that Google is going kill the device silently.

Spotify Problems on ATRIX HD

My Favorite app spotify apparently doesn't work properly on the ATRIX HD. After using it for a few days I noticed it is freezing and I have to re-select the track I want to play again. It locks up and when i go to the now playing section it shows the current song as only 1 second long. I have been experimenting with every setting I can think of but it still does this. Has any other ATRIX HD spotifly user ran into this problem or a possible fix??
PS I tried my buddys and same problem. :-(

I too have noticed a lot of market apps dont work right.
The phone came out on the 15th so give the market sometime to update some apps to work right.
I'm waiting on Zumocast to work right.

Have you used spotify extensively? If you switch tracks enough times it freezes up. Happens every time I use Spotify.
I tested it and it was working for me actually for your sake to see. But I personally like using Rdio so much more. UI is just awesome plus it works perfectly for me.

It got a little jittery for me after skipping 2-3 times aggressively.
I guess it's trying to load the song information and it bogs up.
Iheart Radio has problems loading stations at times.
I also get a weird preference error that dose absolutely nothing. Just pops up a window saying it cant load my preference.
I noticed there are some apps not available for the phone yet. I really want my Zumocast working again.
I used to stream my movies and music from my PC to my car, now I gotta wait for them to make a Zumocast client for Atrix HD
Until then I'm using drop box to download & save stuff.. but no streaming

For me it completely stops. Ive tried using it on wifi at home and same thing within the course of one album if you press skip within about 10 tracks it always ends up freezing. Tried 2 other peoples phones so I'm pretty sure everyones is doing this. Dosen't make sense because it works fine on the GS3 and all other android phones I've tried?
Finally as much as I love my spotify(it's probably my favorite app) I resorted to using RDIO we'll see how it goes.
Although Zumocast isn't working, Motocast (the replacement) seems to work very well!
EDIT: nope. Still not working.

[Q] YouTube App Issues

I couldn't find any other post with this issue I am having. I just got the HTC One yesterday and it is an Amazing phone. But I am having some problems with the YouTube app. When I try and watch videos the page loads and the video starts to buffer but it will not start playing. I've waited several minutes and it just sits there with the circle icon loading. I click back and reload the page a couple times and every once and a while it will start the video normally. Everything else loads up fine in the app and the search function works as well. I'm curious to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I was on Youtube for a good while last night before bed, and I only really had buffer problems at the beginning of some high def vids that took a bit longer to load. Are you using mobile data or wifi?
I was on my WiFi. I just tried again later and it seems to be working better. I think it might be a YouTube issue.

Netflix app losing connection to Chromecast?

Hey I haven't seen this posted yet, so I thought I'd ask about it.
Does anyone else have a problem using their device with Netflix, casting to Chromecast, then it somehow losing connection? This is happens on both my Nexus 7 "flo" and Nexus 4. I turn on the TV, switch to the Chromecast input, etc. Then I boot up Netflix on my tablet, select an episode, then cast to my TV. After it's started, I'll press the power button on my tablet to turn off the screen, and set it aside. When the episode is over I try to pick the next one by turning on my tablet, opening Netflix, and then selecting the next episode. 80% of the time, it won't work. The Netflix app loses connection or something.
This is what I've noticed when this happens: When I first press the power button my tablet to turn on the screen, the Chromecast lock screen comes up with a picture of my show, then the usual pause/rewind/stop controls. If I try pressing one of those, the tablet shows that it worked, but does not do anything to the show that is playing on Chromecast i.e. I press pause, the pause button switches to the play button, but the episode keeps playing. If I press back, unlock the tablet, then open the Netflix app, it opens up to the current episode with all the controls and the seek slider. Again, any controls seem to work on the tablet, but nothing on Chomecast/TV. I also notice that the seek slider is stuck at 00:00. If I try to switch episodes by hitting the little "i", then pressing play on one, it won't go anywhere. The button "presses", but Netflix sits like I didn't press it. Now, if I try to get into the Netflix app by using the Notification panel, it tries to open Netflix but just sits there at the Netflix app splash page, with the red Netflix logo, and the spinner at the bottom to show it's loading the app. That goes on indefinitely.
There is no way to change what is happening on Chromecast unless I force quit Netflix, clear the cached process, then boot up Netflix again. Then, it'll pick up on the cast and I can change episodes and control whatever. Again, this happens probably 80% of the time. Anyone have any idea what's going on? It's kind of annoying since by the time I force quit Netflix, clear the cached process, boot up Netflix, and finally change episodes, the credits have all rolled and I'm sitting at the "Ready to Cast" page. If this is a common problem, I'm sorry. I searched for anything similar, and I also read the first 3 pages for anything like this and nothing came up.
Your not the only one. My connection to the ChromeCast drops all the time with Netflix and sometimes with the Google apps also. However with mine I have to restart my phone to connect again. Force closing and clearing the cache does nothing for me. I have tried the CC on 4 different WiFi routers and I get the same problem with all of them, so I am thinking it is the CC itself. Hopefully future updates will fix connection stability.

Same problem. It's super annoying
Same here.
This didn't happen to me until the update to build 13300 - that ironically included "more robust wifi performance" or words to that effect.
I get it with YouTube although less often than with Netflix.
Wonder if I'd get flamed trying to add this to their defect tracking system?
Edit and PS - I did my best to let someone know.
https://code.google.com/p/google-cast-sdk/issues/detail?id=85&thanks=85&ts=1381557923
Same here. My CC has been dropping connection since day 1. I have tried couple of routers and resting the device to factory conditions. Once I am able to connect, I can watch a movie for 30 minutes and after that the connection to CC is lost on my phone, nexus 7 or my laptop. I have to restart cc to regain connection. Google support is not able to troubleshoot.
Just to follow up: Since the last few Netflix updates I don't seem to have this problem anymore.
I'm still having it.
I also have the same problem with Netflix and the Chromecast

I have the same problem, often the cc button isn't even showing in the Netflix app, or if it is showing, it is only for a short while. And controlling it while it plays (when the button was there to use), is mostly impossible.
In YouTube/music it looks to be working fine, but netflix, forget it.

Same way here. Updates seem to have resolved it. The Netflix app itself is still horribly slow and TV shows don't autoplay but that's not really a chrome cast problem.

With me, it is the opposite, unless you are talking about updates I don't have yet (my app is the latest there is from the store). Worked fine (as far as I can remember) for two weeks, stopped working a few days ago.
However, I have been tampering with my modem to get netflix US in my country (there is a local netflix, but I wanted the US version). Allthough music and youtube don't seem to have a problem, it might conflict with the netflix app/service?
I've been tampering with nothing and updating nothing but the problem subsided for me these past few days.
My Chromecast led was blinking quickly for a while in the middle of the night a few nights back. I don't know if that's normal.
But I'm still at 13300 and the problem has subsided.
Same here. What's confusing is that I never had this issue with my CC until a few weeks ago. Netflix, Youtube, Play Music, etc all worked fine and my CC never lost connection.
Now ...I have to reboot CC every single time as the Chromecast becomes undiscoverable about 30 minutes into a Netflix movie. I can no longer pause, stop, etc. I've meddles with my router settings and even replaced it with a new router ...but still the same issue. It's getting beyond frustrating because it seems that it's a widespread issue but neither Netflix or Google is even acknowledging it.

Having the same issue with Netflix. The odd thing is the chrome cast app can still interact with the device, and I can reboot it that way.

Netflix not working- Blank screen

What am I doing wrong??

Same issue here on a developer note 4 verizon on 5.0.1 rooted, tried rootcloak and no difference on the netflix vr app. Attempted re-installs, reboots, etc. and still nothing .
I can hear the audio of the movie playing but the video stops loading at 99% and just sits there.
---------- Post added at 03:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:42 PM ----------
nevermind it's working for me. I just rebooted my stock Note 4
same issue here. The VR living room looks great but nothing on the screen. Currently running TEKXodus N4 URv3 LOLLIPOP 5.1.1 on N910T
I had the same problem. You can't use bluetooth headphones while using Netflix, plug-ins or nothing is your choice for the moment.
I had a similar problem where it would load up to %99 and just play audio no video. I installed the regular non-vr version from the Google play store just to see if it would do the same thing and it played just fine so I went back to the vr version and it started working just fine!
Hope it helps!
This doesn't seem like a bluetooth headphones loading issue. I'm not using a pair and my bluetooth is off. Maybe it's related to being rooted?

I think it has something to do with the cache for the main Netflix app. When you open the main app and get it going, then try the VR app, it works just fine. But if you clear your cache, then try it, it is stuck @ 99% with no picture, but the sound works.

Facebook videos pausing, freezing and crashing

Ever since I bought my Nokia 8, I haven't been able to play any Facebook videos smoothly. I click on the video, it starts and stops. Then I have to hit the play button over and over. Sometimes it pauses, shows the loading thingy but audio keeps going and finally it crashes the app and re-opens it at the beginning of my timeline. I am hating this problem so much. I contacted Nokia support twice and after making me uninstall and reinstall the app again they came to the conclusion it's FB's fault. They say it may be also my internet connection which I am sure is wrong as I use other six devices at home and work and all work perfectly but my Nokia. I submitted a report on Facebook but they haven't responded yet. Does someone here have a similar issue? Should I take it to warranty to have them check it out? Thanks!
Hmm strange I have no issue like that. Have you tried some other app like YouTube or Vimeo.
Try the Facebook web page also.
I used to have that issue but not noticed it so much these days. Specially after going to oreo beta. Videos used to stop like a thumbnail and audio used to play in the background. Worked only is full screen till I moved the slider to rewind or move forward and that used to crash the app every single time. Multiple feedbacks given to Nokia and FB and I am not sure which one fixed it but it is working AOK now.
Calm down. It's an issue with the facebook app, not with the phone. A lot of people including me faced this issue regardless of the phone make.
