Is this a good trade? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just trade my year old Samsung S3 for a 5 month old XperiaZL. So far liking it..
So far the only complaint I've is the throw feature doesn't work with Samsung tv.
is this a good trade? What do you guys think?

Or maybe you should buy new TV

thats an amazing trade if you ask me

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I have a very similar question.
My white 16Gb Galaxy S3 2 years old, near mint for a Xperia Z about 6 months old I think. The Z is my brothers and he wants to sell it as he has got a ****ePhone to replace the Z. This will be a straight swap with no money involved.
I'm liking the Z and as with anything takes a bit of getting used to, but I can't decide if it's a good trade or not. I'm due an upgrade in april so do I hang on to the S3 or swap for Z and use it for 4 months until I can upgrade.
Opinions will be greatly received.

still worth buying?

Hi!
I want to upgrade my DHD, and I'm looking on all the options.
So I want to check about the Note.
Is it still worth buying? I don't want to buy and after 2 month there will be Note 2 and this one will get old.
Do you recommend buying this device in two month? (I'm not talking at the device as it is, I did all that research. I'm talking only on the fact it's 7 month old... in two month it will be 9 month old)
Thanks!
Will there be a Note 2 ????? Me thinks it was one off test the waters so to speak. What would make the note better is what I ask. Apart from the latest 4.04 yeah perhaps a fast quad core proc but this thing blazes through everything as is. Only thing really different is the software look at the S3 what's the major diff is the software. (ignore quad and screen size) its the apps.
Buy the Note.
Ps just brought my note last week instead of the S3 and sold my S2
you will get used to the 5,3' screen and you will not want a phone that is smaller than the Note!
I also have HTC One X, quad core Tegra 3, 4,7' screen, but I use Note (of course on CM9) it's simply better to me
I don't want the new software, I'm only afraid there will be no more support here on XDA, as on my DHD. There are no roms coming out!
More people?
We have official cm9 support and a custom kernel..What more could you ask for?
Buy this phone now!
Sadly I can't buy it now... only in 2 month. Will it still worth buying? The device will be almost 1 year!
No need to think over it.I had bought it just 3 days ago and i love it
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Why no need? If i will buy it the beginning of Aug, it will be 1 year for the announcement. You don't think they will release a new one a bit after?
I know there are lots of great phones coming out, note 2 won't be out until fall at least if at all since they're releasing the true 10 inch tablet version next. This phone is all about the screen, aside from excellent hardware. IMO you'll have a phone that'll easily last another year before you start getting jealous. It's awesome, there's nothing like it.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
so you all thinks roms will still be developed?
i think i will buy it, the low price got me.
It's got some real old school devs for this device as well as the infamous cm9 as mentioned previously. Once we get stable Ics kernels there's no stopping us!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Just got mine two days ago. Definitely worth buying now, it will be a while before the 2 is released. If it is. This phone is amazing, now other phones look puny not to mention the amazing display. I thought I was looking at an old nokia when I was on my wife's iPhone 4 earlier lol
Development wise it's still very early days and already progress is being made although I am holding off root as it still seems too risky at the moment. Waiting for it to be as straightforward as the Desire was even without unrevoked.

We have CM9 nightlies which should only get better once ICS Kernel sources are out.
Also, the note has exceptional demand, this surprised everyone - even Samsung.
I am sure there will be another 5.1-5.5" Note 2 in about 6 months.
Samsung hit a sweet spot with the note size that appeals to people who like large screen and the ability to make calls.
Personally I am getting the S3, and when Note2 comes, I'll just switch to it.
Guys I'm thinking of buying one cause of this great price http://www.ebay.com/itm/36045880681...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_11855wt_922
Question is will this work on T-mobile?
to the OP...stop contemplating about what may happen tomorrow, get the Note today and enjoy. Life is too short. Technology will change and if you wait now, you will wait again because you will worry that a better technology will come out later.
get the Note.......and be happy with it.
im sure the note 2 wont be the best for long, but i just to want to buy and after 2 month there will be a new one and developers will stop the develop.
in the other side, the note 2's price will be much higher.
more opinions?

Development will stop?! How new are you to xda?! Go look at two threads, the Desire and hd2. As long as there are users there will be devs don't you worry about that!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
i have the desire hd, and now there are no developers
once in a month there is an update for some of the roms, that includes only new apps and update of apps (as play store, g+ etc.).
Once you buy it, you would never wanna go back. It is the best out there. As far as tech goes, it keeps on evolving at a rapid pace. And GN is nothing like the iPhones where the older version seems outdated the moment newer version is launched. What we see in GS III should essentialy be in the Note II or whatever they call it. I bet it would be the same (maybe a bit tweaked) as on GS III, quad core (A15 dual core might be better than quad but it won't hit the normal, non geeky consumer. General belief: Quad > Dual, More MPs ~ better camera), maybe the same 8MP as on S3 again and such stuff. I hope the design is more in line with Note than a hybrid of S2 and GNex.

im almost sure it will be lighter, and thinner and a screen with a higher resolution, but i dont care about all this, because there will always be a newer and better device.

Nexus 4 16GB - SOLD! (UK)

Just sold my Nexus 4 to CEX for £310 (bought it from Google Play for £289.99).. I got bored of it to be honest..
I have previously have had the Galaxy Nexus and currently own the Nexus S and the Nexus 7.. all the interfaces are the same (I know its deliberate and meant to be that way).. but I missed the new phone new learning curve feeling/experience despite the super speedy performance and general awesomeness of the hardware (bar the darn rattling!)!
I stumbled across the rumours of the Sony Xperia ZL yesterday.. I was instantly sold on the Galaxy S2 size and the thin bezel (and same internals as the Nexus 4).. looking forward to it being announced next week..
I guess can compromise on the delayed updates given the amazingly compact package and a physical camera button! (and I still have the Nexus 7 for my latest and greatest update cravings.. LOL)
Sold the Nexus 4 in a hurry today as I was making a £20 profit on it with CEX.. will stick to the Nexus S until the Xperia ZL comes out.. or even the HTC M7 / the Galaxy S IV
Just wanted to thank everyone and wish those still waiting good luck..
KKH
oh you will LOVE Sony's UI. it's smooth, stable and a joy to use. /sarcasm
don't forget to tell us how much time it took you before you eventually root or get back to the Nexus.
I tried to leave the nexus line once. Spent a bunch of dough on the iPhone 5 only to find out it was a big steaming ?. Luckily I was able to return it and get my money back.
I love the Nexus concept and will always do but I was getting Nexus overdose I think. It was either the Nexus 4 or Nexus 7.. I chose the Nexus 7.. I do a lot on my tablet! (besides I will keep the Nexus S as an experimentation medium.. LOL)
I have tried HTCs and Samsungs but they don’t do it for me anymore. I wouldn’t go near LG as I am yet to hear of a positive non Nexus LG handset. That leaves Sony.. I don’t judge before I try.. so I have always been curious of Sony’s interpretation of Android..
The rumoured specifications of the Xperia ZL seem to be a temptation too strong.. I want a the full HD 5” screen in a small package as possible with the internals of the Nexus 4 and SD card compatibility is a bonus for me.. the rumours seem to be on the ball for the Xperia ZL!
Mind you I may be back soon with another Nexus 4..
Sold my Xperia S last week, got sick and tired of waiting for Sony and Jellybean (End of March - 6 months after Samsung...)
Good luck with your Xperia, when we are rocking the latest KeyLimePie, you will be just getting Jellybean (as no doubt the new Xperia phones will launch with ICS "soon to be updated"....)
May as well get the Oppo Find 5 or the HTC Butterfly really , no doubt that sony will come out at £500 which is a crap load more than the £310 you just got for your N4... best of luck getting and enjoying that Sony.
Sorry the Nexus 4 was too smooth for you, could have always changed the launcher .
This discussion is more appropriate for one of the off topic threads or perhaps your blog.

iPhone talk isn't allowed here, so we will all suggest the Z.
It's like comparing Apple with Pears. Never had an Apple product and never will, but the myPhone seems to be quite decent under any circumstances.
Android vs iOS I'd always choose Android.
Edit:
P.S. What's the point making another topic? There are really plenty out there.
What if people made topics to compare the Z with other phones.
Then you would have:
Xperia Z vs Galaxy Note
Xperia Z vs Galaxy Note II
Xperia Z vs Galaxy S III
Xperia Z vs Galaxy S III mini
Xperia Z vs Droid DNA
Xperia Z vs Nexus 4
Xperia Z vs One X
And those are just a few....
Sv: Xperia Z vs iphone 5?
It's hard to compare. Two very different systems. If you like how Apple does things, you might like their phones better. But you better like how they do things, because you aren't allowed to change it. I know I found ios borring..

Easy one this go for the Z if you like customization and stuff, if you like stock standard same as others go with Apple has the iphone 4 and dont get me wrong it was a nice handset but i didnt get attached to it as i felt bored with the set up.
I have both. iPhone 5 and Xperia Z. I am a happy man.

Yes, swap it for the Xperia Z. It's far superior.
I have iPhone 5 as well. Just got my xperia z today. So far it's okay. Like the larger screen. Nothing wrong with the iPhone. Just got bored of it.

Xperia Z and iPhone 5 both are smart phones and there are many people who are interested in buying such kind of phones.iPhone 5 is one of the most popular as well as latest model of Apple.
I own a nexus 4, iPhone 5 and the xperia z. I honestly think the nexus is the best in terms of software and speed. The Z is a beautiful beast that I'm adjusting to... If only it ran stock jellybean. With regards to the iPhone 5, for me it's a massive disappointment. Not really any better than the 4s and you have to look after it a lot more as it scratches very easily.
If you have a tight budget get the nexus 4, if not then get the Z or hold out for the HTC one or Samsungs new offering when they announce.

Obvious? They both had their bad ass pics there but I don't see one being "obvious". Not that I'd consider an iPhone. They're WAY past their prime.

I thought it was obvious that the iPhone pics had a yellowish wash over them when viewed next to the Z pics. This was especially noticeable in the low light pics - the colour in the Z pics looked much more realistic. And, the details looked sharper overall in the Z pics. Although, there were a few pics where the iPhone came out on top.
Thanks guys. I (a little) ashamed to say Im leaning more towards the Galaxy s4 now after a glimpse into it... instead of the xperia z.
I think subconciously I know the right choice is to switch and give up my ip5 but I've been an iphone user for so many years. Maybe I just needed some convincing
But highlly anticipating the S4!!! Guess I should move this to the s4 threads now,.,
The camera of Xperia Z is really great and I have used it which owned by one of my friends.

[Q] Note II to Xperia Z1

Hi Everybody,
My first android phone was Xperia X10. I love this phone because of it's slick design.
Sold X10 for Samsung S2...
Sold S2 for Note I...
Sold Note I for Note II...
I starting to hate Samsung because of late update and the design looks all pretty the same.
So right now i'm thinking about back to Sony and Z1 is my first choice right now. Is it worth to Sell Note II for Xperia Z1?
Samsung releases updates more often than any others but i am 100percent with you on design aspect. It was one of the many reasons for 'upgrading' to Z1 rather than note3
Sent from my C6906 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Samsung used to issue updates VIA ''leak regularly. But only a few 'official' per year.
Sony however issue many per year. For the Z1 and Ultra its been 4 over a 4 month period. Thats massive! Although they have been a bit buggy so they did warrant such updates. '
As for the Z1... its a fantastic unit. Camera is obviously the best feature.. (thought it would have been better though)
The Z Ultra, is probably a similar unit to the Note. Similar size, fantastic features... its just that camera that lets it down. If i said the camera was average, i'd be generous.
But basically with the latest Sony smartphones you can't go wrong. The look fantastic, and having waterproof units is great.
Knowing what i know now, i'd still pay for the Ultra. (only because i have a lot of photography devices)
Otherwise the Z1 is the better choice.

performance will be night and day that's for sure.
Once they'll fix the boot loader issue, you can forget forever things like Sim lock on unlocked bootloaders, Knox and so on, yellow signals or counters. BTW I was between note 3 and this. After playing (a lot) with the note 3 I'm super happy to have bought it on dayone.

Hi I had Note 2 which I sold for s4 (big mistake) Did miss the s pen for a while, but now I love the Z1, sick of touchwiz sick of plastic and was sick of knox and counters, only good thing was removable battery's if you had a spare, but z1 is up there for me with note 2 for battery life,
yes I use stamina mode, love the build quality and no lag
PS If I was getting a new one, I'd put a glass-m tempered glass screen protector straight on
I've had the s3,s4,note 1,note 2,htc one,Xperia z and now the z1. I did like the Samsung's but like people say they all have the same build quality (plastic!) htc one was a really nice phone but when I got my hands on the z it was awesome, after using this and loved it the z1 was announced I just had to get it,it's an awesome peice of kit

My advise, better wait for Z2.
I just brought Z1 white version. Xperia Z2 will be available around April 2014. I can't wait any longer... Almost change my mind for Nexus 5 but only AP set (warranty not covered by LG) available in my Country for now. Approximately Jan or February will be arrive according to LG Malaysia.

[Q] Is it worth it?

Hi y'all,
I'm currently using a Galaxy Nexus GSM version and I'm having the option to trade it along with 100 euros for an Xperia Z1 with 2 years warranty and no scratches at all. Before I had to buy the Galaxy Nexus (which is from someone else, it's not even new) I was using my beloved Galaxy S3. I loved it, but thanks to the crappy build quality of Samsung the display broke and the screen is black only now.
My question is, is it worth it to trade my Galaxy Nexus with 100 euros for an Xperia Z1 with 2 years warranty and no scratches?
Oh and by the way, isn't it strange? Because the Z1 is worth more than the Nexus and 100 euros..

100 Euros for a practically new Z1 with Warranty?
that would be a bargain in my opinion,
Just make sure the dealer is legitimate, and the phone is not faulty.

That's true but when you consider you're getting a phone which beats anything hands down on the market today and you're paying half price for it, I think it deserves some serious consideration.
I'm already sold and I can't fault it, not to mention that it's customisable out of the box.
350 euros! That a brilliant price for that kind of a phone, how much was the note 3 in europe when it came out?
5.5 inches is too big, ideal size 4.7 inches...

Depends on the hand size really. If you have big hands 5.5 inches might be alright. If you have small hands 4.7 could even be to big. In my case I got relatively small hands but I can handle 4.7 inches. Friday I will get my Xperia Z (not Z1, sorry all of the Z1 forum ) and see whether I can handle 5 inches as well.
