[Q] Do I need voltage converter for Note 3 in Italy? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry in advance for newbie-type question, but leaving this Monday for Italy for week with brand new AT&T Galaxy Note 3. I have searched and cannot find a definitive answer about whether I can simply use a travel-type plug prong converter or if I need to use a voltage converter for charging from a wall socket...??
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
Martin

All you need is travel plug. You do not need voltage converter

Prubin: thanks for your answer. This is what I thought, but I just got off the phone with the Samsung 'expert' at Best Buy (where I got the phone) and he SWEARS I absolutely MUST use the voltage converter... My gut is telling me he is wrong, but I cannot risk burning out my phone... is there any site or link where I can confirm this somehow? Sorry, but this is not a field of expertise for me, and being over cautious..
Thanks,
Martin

[Q] samsung galaxy i9000 charging path's map

hi dudes
my galaxy i9000 does not charge!
i tried to charge it by a nokia n8 USB cable, cause i had forgotten my charger
after that whatever charger i used, even its own, no response!!!
now it doesnt work
several repairmen said that all the gadgets are ok, but the path from the charging socket to the port is cut off somewhere, and nobody has the map for this path!
please, please, please someone help me and provide me with the maps.i desperately need'em!
i spent 700 bloody bucks on this phone.my gmail is [email protected]
Never ever try another phone's charger on Galaxy S, or any expensive phone as a matter of fact. SGS, has different voltage and ampere requirements.
By repair men, do you mean Samsung Service centre? Service centre is your best option if you do not want to risk your phone.

Do you mean: 12kV/80A or more???
Tried standard and travel HTC chargers - no problem. Generic 1A/5V car charger - no problem.
Stop saying fairy-tales, please
I don't know about you, but when I tried using different chargers, the touch on my phone did not work. And I do not want to take the risk to screw up my 600$ phone over some 10$ charger... Get genuine stuff and be on the safer side.

Myhm. First of all, If i'd be you, I would do two things:
1. Compare parameters on orgiginal charger and the replacement
2. Look in accessory threads, for example First in a row
You know, I'm not you, so I like to learn before I write complete bull**** somewhere.
A little bit of education to be on safer side.
Stop being a ***** man. People make mistakes like I did not see the requirements for the charger before hand. The common notion is that if the pin/jack of the charger fits into the phone, the phone will get charged. That is why I said don't be like me and plug in random chargers which fit in the usb port.

It is easier to buy a new charger, comes much cheaper

You stated previously: "Never ever try another phone's charger on Galaxy S, or any expensive phone as a matter of fact.", what is absolute bull****.
As it is shown in the thread linked by me, ANY charger with current bigger than 900mA will work properly and safely.
The issue, that you have plugged something completely irrelevant to your phone doesn't means that SGS will work ONLY with original charger. Period
And Merry Christmas.

[Q] US charger in EU

I'm looking for EU part of charger. Can I buy it separetly? I buy my TP in US and I use adapter, but will be more comfortable without.
I'm sure you can buy it, have you checked HP's site or ebay?
You can use the charger that your TP came with in EU. It's a multi-Voltage charger. All you need is an adapter to turn the two blade US plug to a 2 prong EU plug. I travel to Greece quite a bit and I take my gears with me when I go there. I just make sure that I have the right plug adapter. You can get these for less than a buck from online stores like amazon.
My english is poor. I'm just looking for part from attachment
Yes all you would need is a plug adapter and not a separate transformer since the one included is universal. I don't see where you can get the OEM plug, but you can get a Europe to US plug converter. It just converts the plug pins, there is no transformer. I didn't even know they made these, definitely not NEMA compliant.

Yes, I've checked.
I can't found. Now I use universal adapter, but I want to buy original part.
Don't write about universal converter.
You can not just buy that piece.but you can buy the "HP Touchpad intrnational travel kit" which has that piece, on amazon.uk
This is origional Hp Accessory.

[Q] Charging in the UK

Hi, everyone.
Can someone help with my trip to the UK? I have a U.S. model and will be in England and Scotland (possible Wales).
I have an adapter plug so I can plug it into the wall, and it has 4 USB ports I can plug in to. However, it doesn't convert voltage, and I understand the UK uses 220V, whereas in the U.S., of course, we use 110/115. I have read that "most" phones can be charged from both 110 and 220 outlets with no conversion needed. Is this true? If not, what do I need to do to safely charge my phone? I don't want to blow it up now that I finally have a Note again!
Also, I assume this will not give me a quick charge. Is there a way I can plug in my charger (plug), rather than just plugging the cable into the adapter plug, so that I can use quick charging?
Thanks for your help. This is my first time to Europe, and I'm pretty clueless.
My adapter says 100-240v so all I need is plug adapter, you should double check yours, but should work, most electronics now a days are universal and auto sensing/ auto adjusting, but not all, so always look at small print on the side
Don't see why it shouldn't give you quick charge. And like the post above says, if you see input:100-240V on your charger, you're good with just using an adapter to change the prongs and plugging directly into a wall.
EDIT: now I see you mean charging directly from the adapter. The USB port doesn't carry 110/240 volts. The USB port on your charger usually has output: 5, 8, or 12V. If you want to use fast charging, just plug your regular charger into the adapter.
If the Samsung power brick that comes with the USA phone says 110/220v then it will work fine. But if it only says 110v it will blow up .
I haven't checked mine yet, but I charged my Note 3 and 4 fine when I was in the UK. All I needed was a plug converter. Two pin to UK three pin.

Thank you, apprentice. I will!
Thanks to all of you who provided very helpful responses. I think I have it figured out now.
I had actually checked the plug before posting here, to see if I could see any mention of voltages. The print was so tiny and hard to read (with my old eyesight, anyway) that I couldn't tell. So I had my wife check, and she couldn't see anything about voltages.
After reading your responses here, I gave this some thought and realized that part of the problem was that we were trying to read a black plug, which doesn't have a lot of contrast to help with reading. I found a white plug and sure enough, it is much easier to read, and says 110-240V.
I only have USB ports on my adapter, so I can't plug my quick charger into it. However, I remembered that my wife has an adapter as well, and had her pull it out. Hers accepts a two-pronged American plug rather than USB. I should be able to use that and get a quick charge. And USB should work find for our devices that don't do quick charging.

super vooc charging ??

Just purchased the phone and it will arrive next week, bought from Amazon at €449,
I live in Ireland and we use 3 pin plugs but I will be getting the EU 2 pin plug with the phone,
Is it safe to use the vooc charger in a 3 pin adapter ?
I'm slightly worried about this technology,
I will probably buy an 18 watt UK charger to supplement it son so that the battery is not overcharged on a regular basis
As long as you use the correct voltage it should be fine using converter to 3 pin plug. Mine is EU socket with voltage range from 100-240V 50/60hz.

Cheers ,have a 3 pin adapter that says 240v on it but also says use with shavers only so might find a new one
You can use an adaptor but can't the the cheap ones ! Buy a good one ! You will be ok after that !
I live in Ireland and purchased the phone from Amazon Spain and I have the charger plugged in to an adapter and works no problem the Super Vooc charging works as intended also.
As long as the adapter has 13amp fuse and 240v you will be good to go
As above... Just use a adapter with a 13a fuse as all your looking at doing is allowing the plug to fit a UK socket... There's no voltage conversion involved or needed so don't get a actual voltage converter.

I've seen something like this(attached pic) recommended on other sites so ordered one. It should hold the EU plug securely with a little luck

Having received this black adapter on eBay I can confirm the realms EU plug will not fit into the back of it,you are better getting a UK travel adapter from your local pound shop or hardware store, the ones that plug in from the top,I got one and it works no bother.
Other observations Ive made are that my OnePlus 6T charger works with the phone and the device seems to be charging around 30w and displays vooc in the animation on the device,

Chargers? surprised this thread doesn't exist

So I just ordered the phone but I also realized that I will probably need a new charger and a longer USB-C as well. So would you, dear XDA members, in your ever-infinite wisdom enlighten me as to which chargers/cables are best for this phone?
Why would you need a new charger when there is one bundled with the phone? Any long USBC to USBC cable is fine with the bundled charger.

Because having multiple chargers is convenient and better than moving around with a single one. Also no, they are not the same an Anker powerline series isn't the same as some ****ty $3 Chinese knock off.
How is "moving around with multiple chargers" more convenient than moving around with a single charger?
Might as well carry multiple phones & battery-packs in you rucksack while you are at it!
The "Anker powerline series" are more than likely made in China too.
I wouldn't call the ROG 3 original charger a 'cheap knock-off' or be derogatory towards China.
I enjoy having a charger at my desk, by my bed, and one in the kitchen. While I can walk the charger around, it would be very convenient to simply plug in wherever I am in the house. It also ensures I can leave one in the bag without having to worry about forgetting yet another thing.

I would say to buy another official charger and cable as it is a true problem to find a good charger and a good cable that will allow you to charge your phone the same way as the original one that is of a really good quality.
