U need to extract the firmware from the ota update and rename it to PO68IMG.zip and put it on the root of the ext sd card not in a folder and go to bootloader using volume down and power key. And install it so u need a firmware lol

I think the xda hero wiki has a link to a ruu.zip that you can flash from recovery or maybe bootloader. Its buried in the dev section but its linked in the wiki.

Neither of these methods are working, HERCIMG.ZIP just keep saying No Image! and the second method has no option to restore a nandroid backup that I can see, clockwork only shows backups that it performed itself and wont show the new folder I dropped in there.
Im running stock Hboot and stock radio, what the hell am I doing wrong?

Are you without a pc? If you have a pc and can connect, then go to the Htc website . Download the Htc sync pakage, install it the download the latest RUU and connect your phone and reinstall the RUU should take about 10 -15 mins. You will be un-rooted.
I think there's a Free App on the Market that Claims it Unroots!

[new update] OTA_Vivo_HTC_ARA_1.43.415.3_R-1.36.405.1_release_176684

download here OTA_Vivo_HTC_ARA_1.43.415.3_R-1.36.405.1_release_176684
dont ask me why i got it.... im still confused by it... since i didnt install an arab version... most likely my rooting process ^^
Looks the same as the one in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033922
But the release number is different... And dont know why hawky gets this one (ara version while in NL?) well nothing can happen to you anyhow since you have s-off and can always reflash/return to old rom
I also think it's related to Root, because I also had this update over the air immediately after the Root...
so you did llnhhy's method as wel?
cuz i blame him for it xD
yes same method

Can I just install this over the current version of cwm Im using? Will it effect my current rom?
The new recovery from thecubed (5.5.0.4) let's you pick between internal and external(default). If you're using another recovery for some reason then just use a file explorer app to cut and paste from one location to the other.

have you read the recovery thread?
does it specifically say you have to return to stock?
recovery has nothing to do with the rom, so no, you wont lose it

I did read it...it didnt say I needed to but the instructions were talking about installing it right after you unlocked the boot loader, so I was making sure I didnt have to go back and start the whole process again.
Thanks for making it clear!

If you have unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom recovery then you can boot to recovery and backup your current rom. You can then flash a custom rom with superuser and see if it works.
Good luck.

The OP stated that he has Revolutionary S-Off HBOOT so flashing the boot.img is not necessary.
Have you tried flashing the stock, rooted ROM in my signature as others have suggested on some of your other duplicate posts?

The link that you have referenced was uploaded by a member who is no long associated with Team Viper and I for one do not feel that it would be right to upload and repost this ROM without Team Viper's consent or knowledge. That's just how I roll and hope others in this forum would agree.
I suggest you choose another custom ROM from the Development section.
Ok guys my problem is solved I installed vipervivo 2.5.3 succesfully and it seemed like my phone got into sleep mode that's why it timed out... Downloaded and installed successfully thanks all for the help

Sorry forgot to post someone said that I can flash roms directly in cwm if I have revolutionary s-off without flashing the boot.IMG in fasboot I didn't knew I could do that with s-off because I don't have s-off really long (only 3weeks or less) and my last flash was 1.5months ago so thanks for telling I didn't knew that xD

[Q] restoring stock recovery

My brother (being the idiot he is) decided to take it upon himself to root my htc one (unlocked Australian model). Now I have a custom recovery installed and so can't install the recently available 4.2.2 update. Is there either a way to install this update, or a way to flash back the original recovery so that I can install it?
Both yes. You can download the original recovery.img and flash it via fastboot. but now that you can flash zips why not try a ROM from XDA devs. Most are very stock with some extra features.

I'm quite interested in this one, but want to double check, with the installation is it really as simple as downloading the zip, then rebooting into recovery and installing the zip from there? No need for anything else like the cmd on pc or anything? Seems rather simple is all, just want to make sure I'm understanding it right. Will be the first time flashing a custom Rom is all.

Since you already have a custom recovery, then yes it is as easy as installing the zip. Its always safer to make a nandroid backup first however, so choose the backup option in your recovery, and save that file to your computer, then you can easily flash the custom ROM.

Well I have Rom manager installed which does the same thing I believe, so I'll be sure to make a backup beforehand.
