Crown Capital Management Climate Concerns: Why Climate Change is too important? - Off-topic

'Climate science' is rotten, a joke. But the real rot is in the media. All through these mails there are examples of scientists doing the right thing, standing up against groupthink, calling their friends to account, sometimes even among the inner circle. But the honourable ones have had to fight not only the zombie scientists but the journalists who unquestioningly arrayed themselves with them. Save for a few loose-cannon columnists the media by and large have been a bloody embarrassment, acting as unpaid flacks to zealots, hysterics and hucksters.
Where were you? Where are you now? This used to be the stuff that Pulitzers were made of. The thing is, there is much that is shocking and outrageous but so far little that is actually really new in these files. It's just all the things skeptics have been saying for years, but straight from the guilty parties' mouths.
There is no shame in having been deceived or mistaken. The shame would be in failing to admit that when it stares you in the face. If someone like George Monbiot has the integrity and courage to admit these revelations are appalling, there is no excuse for anyone else not doing so.
I used to groan at people who thought the net could, would or should take over from the mainstream media. But it looks as though it may have to do so. There are stories that can only be covered properly by a big organisation's resources, but I for one am not going to pay to be lied to and treated like an idiot. What are you for, if not to be on the people's side in cases of this kind?
But the net can only take us so far. We aren't going to fix this by sitting mesmerised in front of a screen compulsively clicking on links and reading about it. There need to be letters and faxes, angry and unequivocally demanding phone calls to politicians, above all demos. Where are our marches? Where's our ten tons of **** dumped on someone's lawn? Why are the other side always making all the noise?

Yeah, well, political discussion is not allowed in XDA, so...

For many people there are no reasons to like apple better. Many people feel that apple is nothing special, and just simply a tightly controlled mass marketed overhyped company If you want a more indepth answer, I would suggest searching some of the previous debate threads as this has been argued about so many times, the horse is now a bloody pulpy goo smearing the ground.

school project- controlling robot with android

Hello! We're about to start our school projects and my idea was to create an app and a simple robot and be able to control it through the phone via bluetooth or something like that. How difficult do you guys think this would be? have only basic programming knowledge atm but have a year to finish it. Any tips or ideas are more then welcome
well they do it with the iphone to control a a remote controlled helicopter, so its possible. but how hard this is gonna be s another question

If you've got a year to do it and you're willing to get your head down and learn then you can easily do it.
okay, cool
I was thinking i could do one with only going forward, backwards and turning buttons. But if not too difficult it would be nice if i could draw up a predestined route on the phone which the robot could then follow. Does this sound like a good idea? And how do you think i should get started on everything?
This should definitely point you in the right direction...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456275
If you're going to do something that allows you to go forwards, backwards and turn, it's only a matter of enhancing the software so you can program routes. Not really much more to do for that.
these are very easy to work with. http://mindstorms.lego.com/en-us/Default.aspx
Even the android robot that solves rubics cubes is made of them.

The one I was talkinig about uses an android phone for processing power

Most of the time is air molecules being turned into steam from the jet engines or from the drag of the wings. You never see that from a propeller-powered plain. Sometimes the meteorological service will do something similar in order to view wind direction, etc.

[Humor]Apple ain't getting a penny from us!

Just saw this and thought it was kinda funny.
Here is the list of devices apple sued samsung for and the amount of money samsung has to pay them.
Notice how our dear little 8.9 is absent!
So not a single of our spent pennies is going to apple

incase you didn't notice i'm joking.
this whole patent sh*t is totally ridiculus!
yeah... but apple is just sueing everyone... they havent actually invented anything sience their first pc-s and ipod... their OS is locked down like a ***** and if u even want bluetooth u have to pay... so... really... they should consider about sueing others.
but google started a lawsuit against apple, so we might be able to see some things happening.
Apple is just so damn afraid of losing their US market share
Ok, even if you take anything at face value on that list... please someone explain how the Galaxy Tab could be on that list? Some one thought that was an Ipad? wtf...

It surely violated the "rounded corners" patent, as well as some other design features Apple has "invented".
The hypocritical apple
The thing I don't understand is how can they be so successful with their lawsuits, yet be so hypocritical in their philosophy?
Steve Jobs - 1996 "We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas."
Steve Jobs - 2010 "I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product"
So, in effect, it's perfectly fine for apple to steal someone else's ideas, but as soon as another company mimics their product, it is a crime against humanity...
They keep giving me reasons to never purchase one of their products...
I get really pissed if someone askes me do I have an I-pad... I don't really get apple... they are just scared of their market dropping... but thats not a reason to sue anybody....
Phew. My previous Galaxy Ace isn't going to be in Apple ‘s case.

Yet Another Maths Question...

I know some of you guys love to moan about maths questions, as was proved by the "0.99999999=1" thread, so here's one I seen on Facebook and was surprised at how many people were getting it wrong.

No matter which answer you get (even though there's only 1 correct answer) explain how you got to that answer.
Time to see the intelligence/common sense of XDA'ers!
First response: 12
12. If people are getting that wrong then there's no hope for the world.
I got 12.
3x3 = 9
9+3-3+3= 12
---------- Post added at 05:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:45 PM ----------
I don't see how you could get any other answer unless you didn't do the multiplication first. (which is wrong)
Also got 12, cause I saw everybody's answer,

veeman. Once again, you are incorrect. Zoom in real closely. There's a ^3 next to one of the 3's...
Having taught in the US for almost 2 years now at a good public university (ranked around 50th overall in the US) I despise of (most) Americans' math skills.
Cancel the minus 3 and plus 3 at the end first, so it becomes 3+3*3 which is 12.
