http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1967124
Which looks like a good one but people have stated that the recovery rom is abit outdated but the guide is still good.

Noob needing help with rooting advice?

Hello xda-developers,
I am a noob once again in desperate need on guidence on my new device...
i have had iPhones since the very First ever iPhone so recently when i decided to sell my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 to buy 1 device the Samsung Galaxy Note i was making a huge risk as i have never used anything other than ios but i made the risk and couldnt be happyier,
Now onto the more serious part on why i have created this thead...i need assistance on how to go about rooting my device
It's a Brand New Samsung Galaxy Note White Euro model, i wanted uk but couldnt find it in stock anywhere and had to order online, i think it came from germany as when i checked the tracking thats were it was dispatched from,
I have been doing alot of reading on these forums and others around the internet and i think i have it right but because my model might be a germany handset but dontknow for sure from what i can tell it has
baseband version N7000XXLA4
kernal version N7000XXLA6
from what i can sorta understand because its on N7000XXLA6 it cannot be rooted direcly and needs to be downgraded to a lower firmware? also is the kernal version the firmware version?
sorry for the noobish talk i wanna get this right as i dont wanna damaged my new device...do i need to downgrade my firmware to be able to root my device?
my plan is to once offical ics comes out to have offical ics installed then root the device then remove all the bloatware from it and make it original pure clean ics kinda like the nexus no samsung crap on it but have root access for extra features like gamepad support like ps3 controllers and other features.
i have tryed to work out the best thing to do so far i am stuck with thinking my device cant be directly rooted and i dont wanna jump in a fiquire out the hard way as iknow rooting isnt as easy and jailbreaking.
i can't wait to hear feedback and help tips and tricks from the community and also very big thanks in advance for taking te time to read this

Your Rom is too new to be rooted directly, you got that right. Go to this thread and download any Rom older than N7000DXKL3 (I prefer N7000XXKK9, it's easily rooted using zergrush method, but it's your choice, of course). Then you can proceed with flashing your downloaded Rom via PC Odin (detailed instructions with pictures in the said thread).
Then visit this thread for instructions on rooting your Rom (find 'Method 2: Root + CWM recovery' and follow it to the letter).
Once you're rooted, you can either upgrade to the latest stock Rom and keep your root, or flash any of the custom Roms available in the Dev section.
Good luck.
u can also go to youtube n refer ashwin tutorial how to root...it will help u a lot coz u can see n know what u doing...follow exactly teh instruction n u will not face any problem..happy rooting...
i give the link to help u save time..

[Q] How do I root my Telstra Galaxy Note GT-N7000B?

G'day all.
I've been searching, and I'm unsure on what to use to root my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000B (Telstra). It's a slightly different model number, and I just want to know is there a way to root the thing and install CWM without bringing up a triangle and increasing the counter? I already purchased MobileOdin btw.
Model: GT-N7000B
Firmware: GINGERBREAD.DVLC1
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-N7000BDVLC1-CL1006149 [email protected] #2
Baseband: N7000BDVLB2
Thanks
Have you tries superoneclick, rooting will remove the Telstra ****

Nope, no go, it's not directly rootable. Has anyone rooted an N7000B?
Why would you want to root it, that's what your wife or gf is for. jokes aside let me know how you go I just got mine on Tuesday and am yet to root it .
Well I am not sure if anyone has tried an N7000 rom on an N7000B. I didn't want to end up with a shiny new brick, thats why I asked here. I already have done a search and all I got was vague answers. Has anyone successfully flashed/gained root access on an N7000B?

I'm sure it would be fine. I am running ics on my N7000 but shows as I9220 in baseband as it's based on Chinese leak ROM with same hardware.

I would also like to know this. My phone is exactly as above (also from telstra au)
...I dont really care about the yellow triangle or counter though(I can sort that out later when there is more support for this model)
I would like to be sure that the process will not brick the phone, this would suck as its only 2 days old .
best if I know that someone else has done it first
thanks.
The n7000b is just a firmware. you can flash another firmware (and it will not brick your phone). the only down side to this is you won't be able to go on the telstra mobile websites, eg. mobile foxtel,
Anyone brave enough to try to root this one?
I just got my note today and would really like root access....
bump
I'm interested in seeing how this goes as well. The itch to root and flash something better than Telstra's rubbish is growing but I am nervous about the process (it seems vastly different to my old Desire).
I find the stock rom not too bad.. GREAT battery life, the only thing I want root for is to record my calls (use it for work).
I have a call recorder installed on my stock Note that doesn't require root. Got it off the market too.
It's called Call Recorder.....

I had a galaxy note n7000b and I downgraded thw firmware to a rootable version then went feom there, seems to be working fine except my wifi (everytime I try to use it it freezes) but other then that it seems fine, hope this helps

isnt mobile foxtel just an app...
Anyone done this yet?
I tried the call recorder apps off the Market but none seem to record properly, they just use the speaker.
My note originally from Poland (!) bought via UK back in early November (can't believe I've had my wonderful toy for over six months now!) Given that there were very few Notes back then and next to none in Oz, I was very nervous about rooting and flashing - the challenge you are facing today. I spend many days reading nearly all the threads before biting the bullet and doing my first root!
All I can recommend you do is read Dr Ketan's flashing guide very carefully and make sure you have a backup. I've had a few nervous moments with black screen but always been able to recover by rebooting into recovery and restoring a backup. I'm on Telstra and never had a problem with any firmware I've used (I don't using Telstra Foxtel)
I know that the latest version requires you to flash an older version of ROM before you can root, but once done you can remove all the annoying rubbish and use great programs like Titanium backup to backup and restore the apps you want and freeze the CPU hogs!
I hope that helps you - my experience was different and I felt very alone the first few times I flashed (never having done it before) but the forums have been a godsend in helping.
PS I have never used Mobile Odin - I have found that CWM does all I need it to
So if the WiFi freezes on the N7000B, would it use a different WiFi chip or something? I did hear that the N7000B supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz where the N7000 supports 2.4 only. Not sure if this is true
Hi, I've had the n7000B for awhile now. and flashed most of the firmwares from n7000 model with no problems. been on GB, ICS. all spec about these models are the same. but still haven't found out why this is B on our model.
anyway it is safe to flash n7000 on n7000b!

[Q] I'm confused

Hi guys, i've just bought a Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 and I'm a little confused. My previous phone was a Galaxy Ace S5830i, I had that phone rooted (but it was too easy, just flash a .zip file) and with a custom rom.
So I have some questions:
1) For now I just want to root my new phone but the methods that I found here are not too clear to me. I first saw this method, but my firmware is not there. My phone came with I9070UBLI1 (2.3.6 GB). So i can't root my phone? my kernel isn't even in sammobile.com/firmwares
2) I want to make a backup just in case before rooting, so, what recovery should I use with this phone? cwm? this? or which one?
3) What is "binary counter"? In galaxy ace that wasn't present.
4) I saw that in samsungfirmwares site there are some 4.1.2 kernels, but they are for Rusia. I'm from Chile. So can I flash the russian kernel? will I loose my signal, 3G or something? Do you recommend upgrade to JB? with stock russian or a custom rom?
5) Do you recommend a custom kernel? which one? This looks nice
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you can help me with those questions (numering your answers just like i did with my questions), I just want to enjoy a lot my new phone. :good:

Since you say that you are used to xda, i don't see any reasonable explanation for the creation of this thread!
Read the forums. All answers are in the stickies..

I read the forums, but I'm still confused, for example, for rooting, in the thread that I linked in 1) there isn't the firmware that came with my phone, so I went to here, there isn't neither, then I read this post, but to do that I need dowload my phone's firmware, but the one that came with my phone there isn't in samsungfirmares web page, so I suppose I can flash anyone for Chile (my country), there are 2, but idk if they will work, so, if I'm going to take that risk I need to make a backup first, but idk what recovery I should use.
I have a mental bootloop

I bought my phone in January.
Then became member of xda in january.
Flashed russian jb all releases as they released in February.
Rooted my phone in same month.
Started using kernels in same month.
Started tweaking in same month.
And now i am really happy with my phone's performance.
As i was new to android and xda i have done all this because i was not worried about my warranty.
In short, go ahead don't think so much.

[Q] Trying to root I9305 build nr JZO54K BME3

Hi there,
I was attempting to root and flash my I9305 with the Samsung Galaxy S3 Toolkit V7.0
My build nr is JZO54K.I9305XXBME3 (T-Mobile, Germany) but it seems this exact build is not listed!
Does anyone have any experiences in rooting this exact build? This is my first attempt to root a phone and I really don't want to mess up
It would be great to get some help on this!
you cannt find answer for everything here.
In my opinion,be careful enough and then just do it,that's what is called developer.
Always backup first~

Suggest you take your time and read the faqs and guides first .
any update happened??? i mean did u update to andriod kitkat?
You need to flash a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod or TWRP and then you can try to flash SuperSU zip file (Google allows you to find everything).

I did, but theres no other ROM made to put on it. d
Dont remember what i used but i do remember odin and framaroot but cant remember what else i used. I had it unlocked but found NO custom recovery for this fone and actually found 2 custom roms but neither one worked. Had phone rooted and unlocked then flased another program and lost root and locked the bootloader again. Crap, 3 days research down the drain. Challenging yes
but im just gonna keep using my Zenfone 2 with the CyanogenMod 13 Marshmello 6.0 as my main source of moding! stop wasting your time cuz it seems that noOne is working on custom recovery let alone custom ROMS for that old phone the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini SM-G730A. Too bad cuz its a solid phone that i have dragged around the world with me 2 xs. Samsung and AT&T both Suck.
Acually safestrap recovery was succesfully ported to the g730a.
