Well after creating my last tutorial, much has changed, wonderful new things have come about. So I thought it was time to create a new tutorial covering the new things.
So after now I have read 1000+ of pages and posts, hopeful this will help cut down on your searches. BUT read the whole tutorial before you ask questions. There are fare to many people that ask questions that are usually covered in the OP (Original Post) of threads. Please be respectful of the Developers Time and not ask dumb questions that have the answer posted.
Things you will need before you continue reading:
Ability to understand what you read
Time and Patients
How to use Google Search
Time and Patients
A brain
Ability be patient with all of us.
Give Credit where credit is due
Lastly Understand that Nobody is responsible for what you do to your gear, except you. And using the guide below will void your warranty

Now that is covered lets continue.
First get and install Wondershare MobileGo for Andoid this will make life easier. (Google it - Link removed by the request of xda)

Note: Phone Must Have BT Tethering Option. Most USA Users don't have this option.

Preparation:
Turn On BT Tethering on your Phone. (System Settings >> Tethering and Hotspots >> Enable Bluetooth Tethering)
Activation:
On the Gear go to Settings>>Bluetooth
Click on the settings for the profile for your phone.
Scroll down and if you have activated the option on your phone and it supports it, you will see an option to activate on the profile on your gear.
Check the box Internet Access

On the Phone open PdaNet+

Click onTap here to start scanning...
Once you see your phone appear, Click on it
Go back to the first screen of PdaNet Tablet
Click on Connect (it might be hidden at the bottom of the screen, just a small part is showing, but you can still click on it)
On the Attention screen scroll down and click on I trust this application then click on OK
You should now be greeted with a PdaNet is connected! screen.
Open your Gear Browser and you should see it connect to Google home page.

Watch Styler OR UCCW?
This is a matter of opinion I like to use UCCW as it is more customizable. However if all your looking for is a Watch Face only, then my all means get watch styler. Both would be widgets to add to Nova home screens.
Need so Ideas, check out this thread - Thanks to Kakann for starting the thread
Watch Styler:
How to:
On your Phone, Install Watch Styler through the Gear Manger >> Samsung Store. (You may need to hit accept on your Gear to install it)
On your Phone, Open Watch Styler, select or create a new face.
Apply the selected Watch face
In Gear Manager goto >> Clocks
Select WatchStyler
Then select the settings icon.
Select the Watch Face you want again
Apply the theme. (The Applied theme should reflect the new selection
On your Gear, On Nova desktop press and hold

Select Make uzip (for sharing)
Name the Widget
Plug your Phone into the PC
In Wondershare click on your Phone then files
Click on your SDCard, and locate the uccwOutput folder. (you might have 2 SDcards, so check both)
Click on it, then select the Widget you created (.uzip)
Export the file to your computer
.
Connect your Gear to the PC
In Wondershare Select your Gear
Click on your SDCard
Create a folder called uccwOutput
select the new folder
Drag and drop the widget (uzip) file from your PC to Wondershare.
On your Gear open UCCW

Press and hold the return button (Long press activates the menu button)
Select Open >> Open uzip
Locate the Widget (uzip) you just transferred
Select it and open it.
Press the soft menu button again and select Save >> Save Skin

On your Gear, On Nova desktop press and hold
Select Widgets >> UCCW >> 4X4
Select the New widget you just saved.
Resize to fit desktop if needed.

How to install APK’s to your gear Without Wondershare

This is for anyone looking for an alternative way of getting apps onto the gear.
These instructions work for people who have a Windows/Mac/Linux.

Unzip fastboot the root of your drive (You can delete it later when done, or advanced users can unzip it anywhere)
Make sure your Gear is in USB Debug mode
If you’re using Mac or Linux, You can skip this step. If your using windows, make sure you have installed the Samsung USB Drivers.
Plug your Gear into your PC
Now open up a Command Prompt (Terminal window for Mac/Linux) (Google it if you’re unsure how)
.
Type in the following:
For Windows:
cd\
.
cd fastboot
.
adb devices

For Mac:
cd\
cd fastboot
chmod 755 *
./adb-mac devices
For Linux
cd\
cd fastboot
chmod 755 *
./adb-linux devices
Look at your gear, there should be a prompt. Press OK. (If you have connect before using USB this might not appear on the gear, just go to the next step))
If it does not come up, then we will need to kill the process adb.exe running and try launching it from the command prompt again.
Windows:
Open Task Manager, Locate adb.exe and end the task.
Mac/Linux:
Type in the command:
kill adb
Now type in the following:
Windows:
adb devices

./adb-linux devices
Looking at the Command windows (Terminal window) You should see device. (If you do – GREAT, else go back and try again)
.
Move you apk file you want to install to the fastboot directory
Use the following command to install your apk file:
Windows:
adb install nameoffile.apk
.
Mac:
./adb-mac install nameoffile.apk

./adb-linux install nameoffile.apk
Once installed the app should appear on your gear under the apps section.
Noticed AshtonTS had also posted Mac guide so I am linking to it here incase others need it.

Full System UI? Get back DBL tap settings for quick Volume and Brightness
thanks to fOmey for the info.
If you have installed full system ui, then you might have noticed that a dbl finger dbl tap does not bring up you quick settings anymore. Not current;y there is no way to get that exact view back, as it has been replaced. fOmey has looked into extracting it out, but does not look like i can be done.
But never fear a solution is here.
Option 1)
Put Nova Launcher Prime on your gear so you have access to the Gestures and edit the dbl tap option
Option 2)
Create a shortcut.
What ever option you chose the result will be that same in the end.
How to:
Be sure you have Xposed & GravityBox installed and Activated. (See post #8)
Open up GravityBox
Goto >> Statusbar Tweaks >> QuickSettings Managment >> Statusbar QuickSettings Tiles
Then Select the following
Volume
Ringer Mode
Bluetooth
Brightness
Battery Status
And any other quick options you want.
Now go back to your desktop
press and hold to bring up options
Select Nova Actions >> Expand Quick Settings
You should now have an Icon on your desktop that when pressed will open up Quick Settings for you.
Note: If you have Nova Prime, and want to use a gesture, just select the gesture and then Select Nova Actions >> Expand Quick Settings
Note: You can go back into GraveBox and resort the tiles to your liking. (Along with many other options.

]NotiCounter Widget
NotiCounter Widget (Version as of this tutorial is v1.0)
Thanks to st-tps for creating it.
If your using Null_ and tired of not having a notification badge on your screen, this is the answer.
NotiCounter is just as the title suggests. Its a Widget that you can customize and have notification counts show on your gear screen. And it includes custom sounds.
Preparation.
If you have a previous version be sure to uninstall it before installing the new version.
Download NotiCounter Widget from here
Installation
Install NotiCounterWidget
Reboot Your Gear (Must Reboot after install)
Once rebooted go into Gear Settings >> Sound >> Notifications
Select NotiSilent (If it is not in your list, Did you reboot?) This is simply a blank sound file. this needs to be selected to avoid multiple notifications sounds (Note: Skip this step if you Don't plan to use the sound features in Noti.)
Now to avoid the repeated notification that Noti has been granted SU permissions, lets disable that message.
Open Super SU
Press the # next to NotiCouonter Widget
On the Notifications "Global Default" change that to read Disabled. This will stop the notifications from comming on everytime your screen turns on.
Open NotiCounter Widget app
Read the Pop up box.
Wait for SU permissions to kick in and the give the app SU permissions.
.
Play Sound? Check this box if you want to have a sound play when a notification comes in. (Be sure you did step 4 if you select this)
You can leave the sound file at default or Select a different one. (Click on Choose File)
Once you Select Choose File you will be give a list of sounds that have been included with Noti app.
Select any file and you will hear a preview of the sound file.
If you want to use your own personal sound files, go up one directory and the select Notifications folder. (See previous tutorials for adding custom sound files)
Once you have selected your sound file you want, then click Set
.
Custom Sounds? Check this box if you want to have custom sounds play according to the app .
Select Add Apps
You will be presented with a list of all apps that are set to send notifications to your gear.
Select any app you want a custom sound for
Select the sound file just as you could have above.
Once Selected you will see a Toast message box appear at the bottom letting you know it has been set.
Continue to add any other Custom Apps sounds you want to use.
Once your done got back to main Noti Screen.
If you made a mistake on one of the apps, select Edit List
You will be presented with a list of all the apps selected. Press and hold to edit anyone of them
You will have the option to Change, Abort, Delete.
Once done go back to main Noti Screen
.
Launch Notifications app on tap? Just as it says, Do you want to open the notifications screen when taping on the widget?
Text Size - you can change the text size to larger or small according to your needs
Color - This will alow you to change the color of the text using the sliders as needed.
Widget Background (Ellipse, Round, Transparent, Custom)
Custom Background - Selecting this will allow you to have a custom background
Select your background similar to how you selected a sound. when selecting a pic you will see a preview of it for a few seconds.
Blank spot at 0 unread Notifications? Basically do you want to see a number 0 or nothing at all when there are no notifications?
Power-saving Mode? Normal, Medium Saver, Power Saver. - Normal will give your a more stock feel for the Gear (I prefer Normal)
Normal - Checks for activity in the notifications app, if it´s running it does badge checks with a certain intervall.
Medium Saver - Checks for activity in the notifications app, if it´s running it does badge checks with a certain intervall. When Notifications hit 0 it stops the checks
Power Saver - Only checks Once upon screen On, then nothing.
Restore all Data - This will remove the sound files that Nofi install. If you want to remove Noti you might want to press this button first.
Now that you have your settings Press Save
Now place the widget like you would any other widget.
you will see two options for your widget. Normal and Bold. that is in reference to the Text number. (I prefer Bold)
Check out your new Noti widget.

[Discussion] NULL_ROM Official Q/A - FAQ- General Discussion thread

This is place where you can come and ask questions regarding support as well as any other general discussion for the Null rom. Please keep the development thread to just that DEVELOPMENT. The developer of this rom is here to develop and not here to answer your questions because you can't take the time to figure out the answer yourself. This will be a community driven thread. Therefore, if you feel something needs to be added to the OP please mention me in a post and I'll take a look
If you need to download the rom free to stop by the dev thread to download. However, if I see you ask a question in here and then go to that thread to ask the same question I will be handing out infractions. Please consider this your only warning.
On a side note, I'll be transferring the OP of this thread to a person with this device in due time. However, for the moment this needed to be created. If you are willing to take the OP from me please feel free to send me a PM. The only requirement that I would have is that you keep it updated properly.

Amazing. This thread is very much needed song as how the dev thread keeps getting cluttered with posts that wouldn't be there if some one would have read

Yeah this thread is an awesome idea to leave the general discussion and support issues out of the other thread.
Whenever I select "recovery" it doesn't give me an option to install the rom?
I followed the steps for the root and the add the .zip to my SD card on the phone. When I select the option for recovery it just does a system restore on it. Any help?
You need to flash twrp first

[what about to include support fpr AquaMail client?
I'm using it and I think it is the better at the moment
The developer could be interesting....
Just a quick (somewhat noob) enquiry about the Gear and what this ROM can do for it, as I'm thinking of picking up a Note3 + Gear from work (Vodafone), as the watch is free.
Firstly, I hate Touchwiz with a passion! I don't wish for anyone to read that in an angry way, but I'm really not fond of the colours, themeing, etc. of that particular UI. I much prefer vanilla Android and, as such, would look to root the Note3 and install CM or an equivalent on it.
Would I then lose any functionality of the Gear? Can the GearManager APK be installed on a non-TW ROM?
I'll need a bit of an idiot's guide for the whole thing, but it's nothing I can't research.

No. Sadly not.
Or at least not with all the bells and whistles working.
I actually am testing CM11 on my note 3 as I type. I was wondering if someone could link me to the latest gear manager so I could test how it works.

Here's 2 versions. The latest and the previous one, a lot of people are having problems with the latest, and even Samsung supposedly admitted it was bugged and they were going to release a new one. The previous version seems to work fine for people, and there's no real functional updates on the latest one anyway, so you might prefer it.
Latest version - 1.5.121601
Previous version - 1.5.120903
I couldn't get cm11 to download the necessary apks for gear manager so I restored a tw backup and backed up the apks themselves. When I went to restore them the only ones that would not restore were the weather and svoice. It is paired now with gear manager running in the notifications. Still testing out what works and what doesn't

Running 16, removed Ms. Pac-Man for running too slow on the Gear, everything's running smooth.
Sent from Spaceball One.
I have nexus 5 rooted and running null16, could anyone please point me out how to make gear manager to work?has anyone made notifications work? so far i can just make calls from it and syncs the time.I have read everywhere but nothing works so far and i can't seem to find a reliable sorce of information. If we could make something like an app and null to be modified to work with that so we lose gear manager dependency i belive that would be a game changer . Fomey i will donate something pretty soon as i allways apreciate work from people creative like yourself .
EDIT: 15 AUD for you Fomey, thank you for your work !
reboot after install of null_16
i have attempted several times now to install the null_16 on my galaxy gear. after each time i attempt to go into the recovery mode to actually install it, it reboots and resets the device. i have read numerous times to flash the null_03_TWRP2.7.tar.md5 file and i have done this with odin and received a pass at the top left of the odin program and then it reboots the galaxy gear. i then install the null_16 file on the root of the sd card directory with wondershare mobilego (left zipped as noted in several videos i have watched) after this i remove device from charging device and this is when i try to go to recovery modeto install. after getting to recovery and holding power button for approximately 3 seconds and release this is when it reboots and has reset itself. any help would greatly be appreciated and yes it is rooted with supersu. I am sure i am doing something wrong but not sure what.

Download mk7 for your country.... I don't care if you are already on it just do it! Flash with Odin then flash twrp recovery..... Use adb to boot to recovery....... Trust me it works!
Sent from my Note 3 SM-N900A rooted by Designgears
OMG i got it running!
thanks so much for all the work done with this rom... Everything seems to be running perfect...
At first i couldn't get it to flash properly... I was trying everything. Took hours to initially get the recovery going. It ended up being a driver issue and after a lot of reading and troubleshooting i was finally able to get it up and running.
One question that i have that i couldn't find the answer too... Is there any way to have the watch widget (either the stock clocks or watch styler) appear as a full screen widget without the launcher or the status bar at the top... yet keep the status bar and launcher on the other pages? I am assuming that i can't do it after reading countless of pages... Because i do like the full screen watch face.
Thanks again for all the hard work!

Installing Null_ TWRP: (Version as of this tutorial is Null_ 03 TWRP)
Thanks to fOmey for this Null_ TWRP
Installing Null_ TWRP:
Preparation:
Download Null_ TWRP - fOmey
READ THE NULL_ TWRP Original Post
Installation:
Put your Gear into Download Mode
Connect your Gear to you PC.
Open Odin
Click on the PDA Button
Locate the Null_ TWRP file and select it. (It should be a .md5 file, if it is zipped, then unzip it)
Press Start
Once it is completed it will reboot the gear.
Null Quote:
If you find the recovery is not sticking & your Gear wipes when attempting to access recovery after flashing, you must root your Gear prior to installing TWRP again & Run the following commands in ADB:
*NOTE* You will gave to accept a supersuser request popup when executing "SU" command
*NOTE 2* Probably a good idea to run this prior to first installation (To save time)
Code:
$ adb shell
$ su
# mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p20 /system
# rm /system/recovery-from-boot.p
ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge
If needed "ADB" can be found here on xda - Thanks to shimp208

You cannot do what you are asking.... But you can set clock widget. Use Nova settings to hide notification bar, dock and scroll indicators then use gesture and button settings to create gesture to accommodate just about anything! I have swype down to open notification bar..... Swipe up open notification app.... Double tap opens app drawer and 2 finger Swipe up opens my dialer! Just set widget long press and resize to full screen. You may have to adjust colums and rows in Nova settings to accommodate whatever widget you are using in order to center properly. Hope this helps!

On the newest release (16) there is support for custom boot animation and includes the null boot animation. Is that a part of the aroma installer or is the custom null boot animation a part of the rom that you cannot remove? I'd rather stick with the stock if you don't mind.

[STOCK ROM] [Root] [FTF] 4.3 Xperia Tablet Z SGP311 10.4.1.B.0.109 US_CA_PR

** DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A DEVELOPER. I DO THIS AS A HOBBY AND SHARE MY FINDINGS IN CASE SOMEONE ELSE FINDS THEM USEFUL. **
** THIS WORKED ON MY DEVICE BUT IT MAY NOT WORK ON YOURS. APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK **
Requirements:
Flashtool 0.9.15.0
Rooted SGP311 (on any Android version up to and including 4.4.2) with custom recovery installed.
If you do not meet these conditions, for example, if you are on an unrooted system, here is a guide to get you on a rooted 4.1.2 with recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53063218&postcount=14
This works on locked or unlocked bootloaders. This also works on any customization.
The procedure should work with any pre-rooted Android version but I started with 10.1.C.0.370 (4.1.2) which was rooted with DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v17, patched with remountrebootfix, and equipped with XZDualRecovery.
Limitations:
This process can delete the files on your internal SDcard so back them up. Also, you will have to reinstall all your apps, as they get erased too.
Download link:
Mega
https://mega.co.nz/#F!UkshjY6A!HIW7xGf1E1oa04e0N3b1OA
You only need the zip and ftf files. The txt file is just the checksum if you want to verify that your download is error-free. I strongly recommend that you do the checksum before flashing.
Instructions:
1- Backup before you start messing with your tablet!
2- Put system.flashable.zip in /sdcard of your tablet.
3- Keep SGP311_10.4.1.B.0.109_R2C_VMo_US_CA_PR_NoSystem.ftf on your PC.
4- Disconnect any USB cable that may be attached to your tablet.
5- Reboot to recovery. Preferably to TWRP, but you can make CWM work too.
6- Do not wipe anything.
7- Once in recovery, flash system.flashable.zip.
8- It is important to NOT REBOOT the tablet after this step.
9- Find and use the Power Off option in the recovery and turn your tablet off. In CWM based PhilZ Touch it is under "Power Options" -> "Power Off". In TWRP it is under "Reboot" -> "Power Off". If you see your tablet rebooting, force it to turn off by pushing the power and volume up keys simultaneously (or however else you can!)
10- Open Flashtool 0.9.15.0 and click on the flash icon. Choose flash mode.
11- Navigate to where you have saved SGP311_10.4.1.B.0.109_R2C_VMo_US_CA_PR_NoSystem.ftf and flash this ftf with your tablet in flash mode. To put your tablet in flash mode, hold the volume down button when it is off and connect with the USB cable to the PC.
12- Reboot and enjoy!
Credits:
I only put the files together. All the credit should go to XDA's [NUT] and DooMLoRD and many others...
I had a few requests from people who upgraded to 4.4 and were not happy with the speed. So I made these file in case you want to downgrade to rooted 4.3.
Enjoy.
Downloading now. Thanks!
hi njajoor

This is what I do normally, but you may want to change it for you specific needs:
1- In settings:
Wifi, menu, advanced, network notification unchecked; Keep wifi on never; wifi optimization checked
NFC off
Sound, touch sound off; screen lock sound off
Display, sleep after 30 seconds, double tap to wake up checked, brightness set to lowest
Power management, stamina mode on
Keyboard, sounds feedback, sound on key press unchecked
Accounts, email: set sync frequency to 1 hour; Skype: sync off
2- install adaway
3- use titanium backup pro or apps tab in settings to freeze/disable:
Crackle and Netflix (unless you use them)
Anything with the word or logo of Facebook or twitter or social engine in it. You are better off using the browser for these.
If you use both email and Gmail apps, disable Gmail and set it up in email app.
All Google play apps except store and Services
Google plus and hangout
McAfee, reader by Sony, let's start psm, video unlimited, wisepilot
Mobile date, mobile network, sim lock, and sim toolkit (sgp311 doesn't have mobile data)
PO Box touch and Xperia Chinese keyboard (this may significantly reduce your keyboard flickering if not entirely eliminate it)
4- I install greenify, wakelock detector and juice defender on my other Android devices but I've come to believe Sony's stamina does an excellent job and none of that is necessary.
5- Turn gps on only when you use it
6- Remove active widgets from your home screen. I only have the clock and the weather left. If you want to keep the widgets put them on a separate display than the ones you keep your commonly used icons in.
With these settings mine is smooth as butter. I hope yours will be too.

NEW TESTED METHOD - Remove FRP Lock (Tested on T580) (firmware attached)

After Struggling for so long. I was finally able to remove the FRP lock on a recently updated tablet.
First and foremost get the tablet in the download mode / Odin Mode and flash the firmware I have attached. Attached all variants.
NOTE: I used Samsung Knox app v2.14
ufile . io/9zvxi (WILL EXPIRE AFTER 30 DAYS)
Once you have done that follow @Beut 's instruction
1- Get access to email via phone or computer because when setting Knox, it will send a PIN to your email to verify it.
2-After setting a wifi connection, no need to go further. Tap Add Network
3- On the pop up keyboard, hold the third key from the left with Speaker Icon. Select from the menu the last icon on the right: Setting.
4-Tap the back arrow on the <--Samsung Keyboard , you will see the <-- Onscreen Keyboard
5- Tap Google Voice Typing , tap Your Feed , check Feed
6- Tap No Thank at the new page, then Google Search will appear, type CH, then select Chrome when it pop up.
7- Search Samsung Knox app, then look for version 2.0.10. I choose the link from apKplz as other sites have too many pop ups.
8-Tap OK when Chrome asks for permission to download. Tap open when download is done.
9- A page will pop up asking for permission to install app from unknown source. Go to setting to check unknown source.
10- Install Knox then add your email, it will send a PIN to your email to verify.
11- Complete all the setting for Knox.
12- Go to my . samsungknox . com/en-US/#/login with your email and password. After that you will see the Tab A with serial number enrolled.
13- Click on it and select Wipe Data . Within few seconds, you will see your tablet goes to Wipe Data and Factory Reset Mode.

Installed Magisk and now home button and menu button (left) doesn't work

I just installed magisk through the magisk manager app and it went just fine, but now when I've rebooted my home and menu buttons aren't working. I get the vibration response but no action. the menu key does bring up manus in apps but it doesn't do what it did before installing Magisk... Can I reset the buttons functionality somehow? I'm running LineageOS 14.1 on a Redmi Note 4. Please help!
his is an Android issue.
Step instructions:
- Download Nova Launcher. If you cannot from the google play store, search for it on Chrome and download an apk version
- Install it (you may get a pop up advising you need to let apps installed from chrome, go to settings and allow it)
- Once installed, click on Open. This should launch the Nova Launcher
- Long press anywhere on the screen
- Choose Widgets.
- Look for the Activities widget and hold and place it anywhere on the screen.
- Scroll down to Setup Wizard. There's two, one that's "Setup Wizard" and the other "SetupWizard" without a space. Choose the first. There should be an option under it called ".SetupWizardUpgradeActivity". It might be slightly different for you pending the version OS you have but that's what came up for me.
- Select that to create the widget shortcut then click to open.
- This will bring you to the setup wizard and then just click Next all the way through (turn off any preferences you may have in the past)
You can uninstall Nova Launcher afterwards if you want. You don't need to set it as default.

Hi, can this help you youtube
As of now, this is where we're up to:
1. we can now enable and use USB ADB to sideload apps
2. we can now re-enable Wireless ADB via sideloading a an wireless ADB enabling package
3. we can now replace the system Package Manager with an alternate unrestricted Package Manager
4. we can now install apps via native (or alternate) file manager using alternate-unrestricted Package Manager
Are people aware of this? or are instructions of this yet to be published on XDA?

@insinc
Is this possible with every Android OEM head unit, like GM Mylink?
Thank you.
Bro, you need to open the box under the console on the passenger side. and you will see Android head just like SOFO888 said.
then you need to remove the thick black sticker and you will see a micro USB slot. with that slot, you can adb sideload apk. that is.
From a friend:
How to install applications on locked yuan/atto3On a USB drive (formatted in FAT32) create a folder called "third party apps" (WITHOUT the quotes)Inside that folder copy the apks you want to installConnect the USB drive to the USB data port of the car.You will see the screen to set a passwordEnter the password 20211231
No need to sideload via ADB anymore.

yeah, your headlights are on. so the screen will only go to "night time" brightness. Day time brightness is so bright at night it's a safety hazard! Because during the day, the screen has to be bright enough it can beat the SUN!
so check if your headlights are set to "on" and change it to "auto" or "off" to get the android screen brighter.
