latest nightly broke my ears - General Omni Discussion

Is it just me? Latest nightly boosted the volume so much on my find 5 that the first step of the sound bar is as loud as the previous nightly at max volume...

Call quality went down the hill too, I suspect this is related to the volume issue.

Try this : DSPManager -> sound control -> presets -> select "stock"

that fixed it for me ..thx

The fix for this broplem™ is under review at Gerrit ATM: https://gerrit.omnirom.org/#/c/3597/

Thanks. I just flashed my first self build, and thought that was the cause, but the official nightly was the same. My build worked after all. :good::laugh:

IN call Volume

Is there any way to fix the low in-call volume of our lovely w8/x8.....I think it was tweaked well for ICS and Jelly Bean and i felt the in call volume is better on ICS and Jelly bean....than on GB ROM... can this feature be ported from Jelly bean/ICS to GB ROMs?

It's been mentioned a few times that FroyoPro offers the best sound. So, this is what you can try:
· Download FroyoPro
· Open the zip file and navigate to /system/lib
· Extract libaudio.so
· In your phone navigate to /system/lib and rename libaudio.so to libaudio.so.bak
· Copy the file you got from FroyoPro
· Apply the same permissions from other files in the same directory
· Reboot
You should not have any problems booting into system. If audio is worse delete libaudio.so and rename libaudio.so.bak.

You can try it. Less chances of it working tho.
For this, make a backup just in case.
Guys,
I followed these steps to increase the INCALL volume for CM7 GB ROMS and it worked.
Gingerbread INCALL volume = ICS / JB incall volume
Follow the steps mentioned below.
1-Wipe data/factory reset
2-Wipe cache partion
3.Advanced>Wipe dalvik cache,Wipe battery stats
4.Mounts and storage>format /system -----------> This step is important ......... if this step is ignored, you will find LOW INCALL VOLUME
5.Install your custom Rom>install Zip from SD Card
6. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228964 ---------> Try to install this fix in CWM Recovery
And ENJOY.......

Did you backup current ROM? If you have custom rom zip from JB 4.1? If so, copy all soundfx file into your current ROM and set permissions to rw-r--r-- (644)
If still FC, you need to replace audio_effect.conf with original file in system/vendor/etc
Used on XT, Doomlord 199, works like charm.

ok this is what I have tried. flashed the mod and rebooted. no change on audio, so I installed the sound enhancement apk and rebooted. enebled it in poweramp, to access this in poweramp you have to simply hit tone control settings then long press on it, unfortunatley there is and always been a problem with this as a sudden drop in volume occurs, even with the volume and preamp on full its still to low. I havn't noticed any audio change, but this was simply done using £120 headphones, as I have no audio testing equipment.

works with Walkman app and now has the better sound quality than poweramp. previously both these apps had a very similar sound. where as now the Walkman one is much more open and far better clarity. not sure whether to thank you though as I had to pay for the other lol.
works but seems laggy when openning Volume in settings
edit: after wipe dalvik cache and cache it solves
...thanks
but works not with Apollo : https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=apollo&fdid=com.andrew.apollo

Working under .199 version and Z2 walkman apk!
With .295 I experienced some micro-stops, but with .199 no issues so far. It is not such a difference but I still notice the enhanced bass of the mod.

Anyone tested it yet? I used a lot of ROM's till now. But faced the same annoying problem. Audio and video doesn't sync in any app. Youtube or instagram or vine doesnt matter. Also couldnt sign in some of my social apps. Im not gonna wait for someone to test this, now downloading files. I will make a little test for myself and will write the results in 2 days.
Ow and thanks to developer
*First impressions are great! Smooth like a butter and audio video sync problem seems to gone. Of course this is just the first 30 minutes of testing.

Actually, flashing with fastboot is easier than installing via TWRP so it isn't in my plans to provide full system flashable ZIP's, probably only some small updates.

Gsi

Can anyone help me with gsi Rom in Redmi 8 no matter which Rom I boot in I get brightness slider bug or the WiFi stops working
its probably because you didnt fully follow the instructions (kernel i guess). IMHO its better to use a full custom instead, there are a few already in our subforum
Better if you use custom ROMs, there many available for redmi 8.
If you still wanna use Gsi and having brightness bug
Here is possible solution
For brightness: Open settings -> Go in "Phh Treble Settings" -> "Misc Features" -> Scroll until you are in backlight menu -> Select "Force alternative backlight scale" and "Enable auto-brightness overlay" -> then deselect both and reboot
Hope this well help you
