For a clean install and root, flash XXJVU ROM and its CF_root, as it is easy and problem free. I never had any problem with JVU
The whole procedure is given below
FLASHING JVU ROM WITH ODIN v1.85:
1. Install USB drivers for i9000 on PC (ignore if already installed) and restart computer to take effect
2. Turn off your phone/remove battery and put it in download mode
by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER
Do you get the Yellow Triangle?..If so
continue..if not do it again...
3. Open odin and after that Plug in Phone with USB Cable To Computer.
4. In ID:COM box it should go yellow and you should see
ADDED in the message box
5. Check Re-Partition option and then Click PIT
button to select: s1_odin_20100xxx.pit file.
6. Click PDA button and select :
CODE_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
7. Click PHONE button and select:
MODEM_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
8. Click CSC button and select:
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar
9. When you have all the files needed in ODIN,
Click Start and let it Run
10. Once complete you will see S logo on phone
(computer will make a few noises like connect/
disconnecting
11. If Odin is stuck showing no change above yellow turned box for more than 2 minutes, close Odin and repeat steps 3 to 10.
12.Unplug the Cable from Phone
13. Run your phone and choose the language and the other startup options. Run until you get the home screen.
You will see your phone working excellent. Now it's time for rooting
Procedure for rooting:
1. Power Off Phone
2. Download CF-Root kernel first.
Unzip the file to a folder. You
will get the .tar file – CF-Root-
XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar
— inside the extracted folder. DO NOT extract
the .tar file (even if you see it as a zip
file, which it is not). You need to flash
the .tar file using Odin to gain root
access and install the ClockworkMod
Recovery (CWM) alongside. If you’re
getting zimage file, it means you’ve
extracted the .tar file too! — and that’s
not a right thing to do.
3. Boot your phone in Download Mode —
Press and hold volume down+HOME
+POWER keys together.
4. Open Odin now. Connect your phone to PC now. You’ll notice “Added! !” message in the Odin’s message box in the bottom left and the yellow box.
5. On Odin, click the PDA tab and select the .tar file you got in step 2 — CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-
CWM3RFS.tar
6. Make sure “Re-Partition” checkbox is not selected. Leave the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes selected.
7. Click the Start button on Odin to flash the CF-Root kernel. After the CF Root is installed, phone will restart automatically. When you see the PASS written in top left box, you can remove the cable.
8. Your phone is rooted now. That surperuser app is there! The CWM app is also there, and
clockworkmod based recovery has
been installed too. Now you enter the custom ROM world without worries. Enjoy!
9. To install any custom ROM, first of all, download the ROM zip file and its g-apps zip file and put them on your internal sd card
10. Now go to recovery. You can go to the recovery by 3 buttons combo:
Turn off your phone/remove battery and put it in recovery mode by holding
VOLUME UP+MENU+POWER
11. You are in recovery now. Click on the "install zip from sd card" option and choose the ROM zip file you want to flash on your phone by navigating by volume up and down buttons and choose by using power button. Click on yes when prompted.
12. When you see "install from SD card complete", install the g-apps zip file.
13. When g-apps installation has been completed, Restart your phone and now enjoy!!!

However it is easy to start from flashing cf root of jpy in your case. You may skip the xxjvu installation steps and directly install the cf root of xxjpy by searching for it. And then all the steps are the same.
All the best

This is absolutely bull****, Odin v.1.85 isn't compatible version with the i9000 !!
Why do you answer unexperienced people and write about the things you don't understand yourself?
Do you desire to brick their phones?
I already warned you few times about spreading wrong info.
Next time I will report you to the moderators.

download the drivers for PC as given in the link in my post above. These drivers work on any windows PC (windows xp, windows 7, Windows 8) except the windows 8.1
Also make sure you are not using windows 8.1
Also, after installing the drivers, restart your PC.
And open Odin before connecting Galaxy S by USB to your PC in download mode. Because Odin only detect if USB is connected after Odin is opened.
Have a happy flashing.

Mate, just do it.
I don't remember if you warned me (consider the case if you had, I simply might had ignored as I don't like the nonsense ) .
I am not a noob and I understand and totally responsible for what I do. I only reply to the stuff to which I am 100% sure. I always flashed Stock ROMs on some i9000 smartphones (more than 8) and in 70% cases I used Odin v1.85 (I have only 1.85 in my pen drive).
You must hold your nerves and keep drinking some fresh juice to keep yourself cool.
I live fearless and at the same time respect xda community and its rules. I have gained a lot from xda community and wanna help newbies (as I was in past ) with the stuff I learnt from here.
And next time think twice while threatening or write such kind of words.

New forum mate @NilsPurmalis, be careful, as @Rohitdahiya seemst to seriously belive to be a great expert and his well-meant advices can put you into troubles.

The latest two compatible Odin versions for i9000 are 1.82 and 1.83. Version 1.85 will sometimes stuck during the flashing. If it stucks during flashing bootloader (happens seldom but happens indeed), your device will be bricked for all times. Use compatible Odin
Rohitdahiya forgot to mention that you must enable USB debugging
Flashing a Gingerbread ROM isn't necessary. Rohitdahiya forgot to mention you that you will lose all your data by doing it
Your baseband is made for scandinavian countries, OXAJVU would work probably, but it is an obsolete step
Backup all your contacts, SMS, call logs and all else
You can easily root your i9000 with SuperOneClick tool, make as very first backup of your EFS folder and after that install CWM recovery, best by flashing a compatible SpeedMod kernel that features CWM v.2.5.1.2
Make nandroid backup of your system
After that you can go for some good custom ROM. For example CM10.2 is fast, has comparably good battery life (but bit worse than Froyo) otherwise is improvement in all else.
I won't response more in this thread, I already sent you all you can wish in my last post.
PS: you wouldn't need to flash the PIT file to change from Froyo to Gingerbread, crap.

I respect the cause you help noobs but at the same time I assume practical knowledge is much important than just reading.
Before replying to your previous comment, I searched a lot and also saw the compatibility list. I9000 was not there in the list but when I read the forums, I never found users reporting incompatibility or any issue.
Also as I mentioned I flashed many SGS many times without any issue.
(IMO the list shows the addition of latest devices of Samsung considering that I may be wrong but i9000 works nice with the version.)
• I never needed to enable USB debugging.
• I apologize for not mentioning about losing the data. I consider the data on internal memory (pics, music, videos etc) will be there but ROM data (apps and their data) will be wiped while installing new ROM.
• I think that oxxjvu will work with your area but optionally you may flash CSC of your region.

Thanks to you all ,didn't use any off you're help ,found simple tutorial and it worked fine
now i'm running cm 10.2
Thanks again

Difficulties starting after ROM Upgrade

I could use some help. During my rom upgrade to stock JMK/JMA/JM5 with Odin my laptop hung.
I have tried the following recovery:
IF your Tab does not boot after flashing the kernel and hangs at the Samsung Galaxy Tab screen, you must follow the following procedure
Get a stock rom package (any of Rotohammer's firmwares will work)
Get P1_add_hidden.zip attached to this post and extract the P1_add_hidden.pit file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...4&d=1299767473)
Using Odin 1.7, put stock rom (Roto-JME-Full-v4.tar for example) in PDA slot.
Put P1_add_hidden.pit in Pit slot
Check repartition box
Put Tab in download mode by holding Volume Down and Power, connect to the computer, and press start.
After this, the Tab will reboot normally.
After doing this the Tab still does not pass the Samsung Galaxy Tab Screen. Any ideas please how to proceed from here.
Tab is European GSM tab, was rooted with the protected bootloader removed.
Try dividing the steps. Flash the pit file first alone in odin. Then close ODIN flash the ROM thereafter. Also you might want to try the JMI ROM as well.
Will try that. Does the battery keep charged or does it charge even in galaxy tab screen?
Getting a bit nervous here. Flashing in parts or using JMI does not work. The Tab is still not getting past the Galaxy Tab screen. Pit flash with Odin 3 1.7 is successful, JMI Rom Flash is also successful...
What now???????
Any help is appreciated
Be sure to put the right files in the right slots in Odin
you can also use ADB to get to different boot modes like Download mode
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Code:
adb reboot download
You should be able to use ADB from the Samsung screen
Hope you resolve your issue dude but for future reference...

oke i figured that much yesterday, when reading some topics, but wich rom do i need to use?? because i dont know how to root the tab because it wont boot ore is rooting not a must?
dude... get the latest 2.3.3 firmware...
you may check www.samfirmware.com to see latest firmware for your deivce. If you are in ASIA region, look for JPI edition. Its good, fast and stable.
Use ODIN to flash, with REPARTITION ENABLE... once complete flashing, reboot, and repeat the FLASHING again... DO IT TWICE..., but REPARTITION ONCE only...
Do i have to fully boot between flashing, or after first flash straight to download mode?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
to play safe, let it boot.. but you can skip the configuration and shutdown and go into download mode..

Im at your same state. My tab hangs on samsung logo and lets me to download alone. I can help you with the drivers part. Im sure you have the Kies in your system. Just push the on button and connect your phone to the pc and run Kies. You have an option to troubleshoot which will update the drivers for your phone. This worked for me. For the rest of the part, there is a chap who is helping me on this forum and he advised me to go for stock ROM. Ill try that today after sufficiently charging up my phone.
I ve been searching for a while now and looks like this is common and nothing much to worry about. Ill keep you posted on what happened on my attempt to odin flash the stock ROM.
Hello friend, my tab is back and working fine now. Hope tried connecting kies to get your driver up for the tab. Once its up you can get to the download and flash stock rom using odin. This would bring your phobe back to life.
I am currently running on overcome experience rom. Its pretty good and they have great instructions on their site. Try that you should be all set.
Best of luck.
I have the exact same issue. I've been trying to flash a Euro 2.3.3 for the last 5 hours. Anything special you did before I create a new thread? I've done this a billion times on my old tab....I just got this one today off ebay.

Can you be more specific on the state of your G-Tab?
What firmware were you using before the problem occurs?
if you are updating from proyo, you will need to flash dbdata.rfs. For your reference you can follow these following steps (given you can access download mode).

Do you have your phone restarted in download mode? (turn your phone off and restart it by holding volume down, home and power button at the same time)
Do you have the Samsung drivers installed? (i can't post links yet but if you search for "Samsung Galaxy Mini USB drivers" on Google you'll find it, if you don't, just download Kies, the drivers are included)
maybe because it's a different handset?

It really isn't, it's the same S5570 with a Qualcomm MSM 7227 as the Mini.
Same everything else too.
Even if it wasn't, Odin wouldn't care, it'd detect it anyway. Odin will let you flash anything even remotely compatible, that is why you have to be careful about what you flash, you will get no warnings and you can mess up and brick your phone.
I just restored a Mini flashed to a Fit rom using Odin for both the mistake and the fix.
If you use cwm of galaxy mini on galaxy mini plus it may brick your phone..as both are different...
Swyped from my first Android device....!
- Make sure you have kies or samsung usb driver
- Make sure your usb cable is working
- Make sure your usb port is not damaged (working)
- Make sure your odin is virus-free
- Open odin
- Boot your device to download mode ( volume key down + home + power key )
- Connect to your PC
That should do it...
Hope it helped...

Naaa.. it doesn't help a bit .. the real problem is, odin cannot detect the phone, alredy installed all the driver, test the cable, test the connection .. you name it everything, still not success... Or, maybe odin did not support Galaxy Pop Plus ? ( S5570i )

So, you actually have the yellow triangle and the yellow text below it that says "downloading..." and when connected to your PC you get a notification of how it's connected but Odin won't recognize it?
Well, that's just not possible, it really isn't possible.
Just get some WD40 into the connector, retry and you should be fine, yes my friends, sometimes the best solution is in the garage.

Odin most definetly supports galaxy pop plus, it's the same as any mini but with a newer core, the rest is absolutely the exact same, i have even reviewed the chip codings.
If Odin doesn't recognize it, Kies won't either because both use the exact same method, Odin being a leaked Samsung application and all.
Try better when you're trolling, because this is just daft.
The Galaxy Pop Plus sports 832MHz over 600mhz

No CWM
Actually, there is no permanent CWM in galaxy pop plus or sgy which you can flash through odin.
Instead, you can root it and flash temporary CWM from stock recovery. If you want permanent CWM, flash a kernel which has it built in like cyanus.
Link to cyanus kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110367
Pop plus not similar to mini
The galaxy pop plus is not similar in hardware to galaxy mini. It is more similar to galaxy y s5360 in hardware except for camera quality. sgy roms work for pop plus, but galaxy mini roms brick pop plus

GT-S5570I Soft Brick

Hi guys. I know this is my first post and thread, but I used Google and searched in this forum for hours and I can't find a solution.

It was rooted with a universal root I found at this forum.
Right after that, I downloaded this: cm_tass-galaxyics-10062012 from galaxyics.com, I think it's CyanogenMod for S5570 (NOT COMPATIBLE!)
I started in normal Recovery mode and updated from sd card that file.
The problem is that I did not make a recovery and I didn't install ClockWorKRecovery, and now the phone always boots in Recovery mode, popping up an error: Can't find /system.
I think I soft-bricked it, right? Is there a way to fix it without a recovery? ODIN does not detect it, I installed both a manual version of the drivers (installation shows an error during proccess) and Samsung Kies, and none of them makes the PC detect the device.
Also I found it impossible to find firmware for S5570I (I find lots of firmwares and stuff for S5570, but I'm sure it won't work.)
Another thing I'd like to say is that I watched lots of videos at youtube of galaxy mini's and they show a different image at the boot than mine, they have something like "Galaxy pop/plus" and mine just shows "Galaxy Mini GTS5570I".
I can provide more info if asked, just don't know what more to say.
Thank you for your time, and excuse me for my annoying English!

Do you flash other phone ROM to Galaxy Mini ?
If yes, then give it to Samsung. You're hopeless.
Did you try Samsung Galaxy Pro usb drivers and odin.
One does not simply flash Galaxy Pro firmware onto Galaxy Mini.
These kinds of firmware are not like ROMs. ROMs can be flashed on similar devices; firmware is device-specific.
One last-ditch method to get into download mode is this:
1.Take out everything in your phone (battery, SIM card, SD card)
2.Hold download mode button combination
3. Insert battery (get someone to help you) and hope that download mode appears
4. Plug it into your computer (preferably with the correct version of Odin and Galaxy MINI drivers and firmware)
5. Flash as per normal
6. Hope it works
The other way is to use USB jig, which I frankly have no idea how to use.
