Hey guys, Just wanted to inform you guys about the upcoming App Store that the guys at Pebble are going to release sometime early next year and it will be built into the official Pebble App. Sweet!
When it launches in early 2014, the Pebble appstore will be a first-of-its-kind wearable tech application directory—giving Pebble users a one-stop-shop for searching, browsing, and installing Pebble watch faces and apps directly from the iOS or Android Pebble smartphone app.
We developers are already up to uploading our apps on the Pebble Portal, as they call it. But the back draw is we can't upload paid apps. We sure can link you to the place to purchase the paid app but it'd be a hassle.
They came up with this idea pretty late don't you think? Stores like PebbleBarn, MyPebbleFaces have got a good hold. Anyways, I always wanted an Official pebble Appstore that would run on our devices. Write your thoughts and reactions below!

Cool I guess....

Hey can you give a link for accessing the Pebble Portal?

They email this stuff to developers, However, they also update their forums. Google the link to their forums. You'll get every news there. Also, theres an announcement to be made today. I can guess it'd be the pebble v2 out for users and the availability of apps like Yelp, etc. Stay tuned.

Definitely going to be useful to aggregate all the Pebble apps in one elegant solution.
But this isn't released yet, afaik. So far only a press release to say it's on the (near) horizon.

On the forums for pebble they have a big warning that watchapps can brick your watch. I'd imagine if they're on the official marketplace that you have a warranty against that being an issue

I have installed alot of third party apps. None have bricked my Pebble. But yes, If any apps from the official App Store that could brick your pebble, they should replace it.

I am excite!
I'm not trolling. I know a lot has been said about different days. I asked about the email about not selling tomorrow and they said they never got it and I can come in in the morning and get it

I'll be jealous if you get yours first but at least I'll know that mine isn't too far behind
I live in a military community and the gamestop here seems to be a lot better than others that I have been around. They seem to go the extra mile with preorders from what I have seen. Like call of duty and other big games that friends have pre ordered I have heard about them calling saying when it's ready for pickup.

Off topic but do they ship quickly? I won't be home to see my new device till the 20th if it indeed is out by then but I'm debating whether to order my screen protector from them. Been disappointed by ghost armor lately. High prices and the last 4 or so purchases from them have had little dots that stay that never manifested in the previous 5 or so protectors from them.

Unless it magically appears on my doorstep tomorrow, I will feel somewhat cheated. But at least its not getting delayed with some kind of temp injunction or something, Ha great I just jinxed it.
I got my xo skin protector a week ago they must be talking about the actual device

I'll be quite jealous if the game-stoppers get it before Google play pre-orders.
"releases tomorrow" is the latest date i see now...
previously is "delay till late july or early aug"

I follow you, I think it's safe to say that JB will always be an acronym for jelly bean on android forums.
I think:
+ the skin isn't too heavy.
+ Googlora (googorola? how do people spell that?). Moto should hopefully do better than most with software updates.
+ No hardware buttons to reconfigure
+ Motorola desperately needs some good publicity. A little over a year ago, Moto was the company that released the first major dual core android device (not counting G2X), and was seen as innovative because of webtop. These days, Motorola hardly even enters the conversation.
but,
- The phone was JUST released. I bet we'll see an OTA update or two, or maybe even three, before JB comes around.
- I don't think this will be hugely popular. It COULD be, because it has amazing hardware, and for the subsidized crowd, $99 is a steal. But right now, with such little press, I sorta doubt it. The smaller the user base, the lower it will be on the list of priorities.
- Until bootloader is unlocked, we're can't do it ourselves.
If I had to guess, I would say October or November, but that's just a guess.
I think we can expect to see a JB update much earlier. It really isn't that much different from ICS. I've used CM9 and CM10, I know that they are not official, but the difference isn't too great.
You guys are guessing October/November to get a JB update?
I promise you this update will not come before next spring! Google will do itself a great injustice if it favors Motorola in the least and with such large clients as HTC and Samsung, that's the last thing Google wants to do as it will certainly strain relationships if not end them. Motorola hasn't even upgraded the Atrix 2 with ICS yet and it's been out for what, 9 months? Moto will not jump to the front of the line for updates now that Google owns it, trust that, they may still get JB on the AHD but it's gonna take some time.
Awesome?
Motorola “Unlock My Device” Website goes live
Go Ahead and search this on Google as I am not allowed to post links yet
Found this today. I believe it is good news for custom roms and we will not have to wait for official updates :good:

Successful design. :highfive:
Doesn't Apple do this every year?
I wouldn't call it recycling, it's brand identity.

Why should they change the design? It just works and despite of what some "design purists" are going to say it's one of the best on the market. Keep in mind when looking at all those concept artworks that they are just that artworks and they don't have to acknowledge all the given limitations that exist in reality.

Since Samsung has been awarded with some patents it may change in the future, but I agree with you, it just works, having a front button to wake up the phone is great.
IMO It's like to keep the "S" family close. Since it's the "S" flagship series. They could always use other design but it'll be a black sheep.

I really miss the Samsung Wave series design.
But the S5 not looks as bad as anyone think.
I think the best desing is the s4. The s5 looks like my old s1

Up to a point I'm just not that interested in how it looks. I want it to do what I want (not Verizon's or Samsung's idea of what I want) & do it right now dependably. Good battery life, easy to handle & carry. That's why I am toting GS4 dev edition with Hyperdrive rom.

Apps compatible with L + Material Design

I don't know if this is a stupid thread, but I wanted to make a list with apps that are only compatible with Android L and has the new Material Design look. This can include system apps and apps by developers.
Dialer
Calculator
Fast Pro
Talon
(Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets were updated to Android L, but they don't have the full Material Design experience.)
If someone has made a thread like this, I'll willingly delete this. I'll add more apps when I find them + when somebody comments.
~HiroXD.
Google has asked developers not to publish apps for android L:
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-to-update-apps-for-material-design-just-yet/
Yes, but for example, Talon's material design preview is not on the Play Store but is up for download. My list doesn't need to contain apps that are on the Play Store specifically.

Yeah, and I don't understand why. It's not like the topic is meaningless, it's actually nice to know. Either way, I am making my own damn list in a word doc.

Please let's keep this thread, I am very interested too.
QKSMS has a material design alpha - and it is looking sexy. You need to sign up on google+.
If you use SuperSU with device default theme you get a little taster.
It's not an app you use a lot though.
If you're making a thread like this maybe you should link to the Google+ / app pages relevant so people can get them
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
thanks for doing this been meaning to get around to it. And yes these are previews directly from the dev as they are working on it. none of these apps will be published to the play store until the time is right.
OP you can add these to your post

More marketing?

Is google about to mass market this nexus 6? I have seen tons of android and google now commercials the last few months. And have seen them a lot. And all over the world series. Who else thinks this phone will be mass marketed on a Samsung level?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Notice that you have seen advertising for ANDROID and GOOGLE NOW. Google is pushing their software and respective services b/c that's where they make their money. Whereas Samsung, LG, HTC and others are pushing their hardware while trying to emphasize their own software implementations. Don't get me wrong nothing would get me more hype than a giant Nexus 6 billboard but, as we've seen with past Nexi, that's not going go happen...
I see your point. I just feel with it going to all carriers and the flagship price they could really advertise. Time will tell though.

You'd think they would push it since it is being distributed to all carriers. I agree that they should push it and really get the Nexus name out there. I'm tired of being asked if my phone is a “Droid" or a “Galaxy." Let's be honest though, if Google did start advertising; they have A LOT of catching up to do!

Yep. I know the feeling. People look at me funny when I say it i have a nexus. With pride. Lol. But if anyone can catch up. It would be the billion dollar advertisement company. I sure hope they go for it. Sad when I walked into t mobile and all they want to do is sell you a Samsung. No matter how set you are on a device made for your needs. $$$$

I say they are marketing it, far more than they have ever done so before. They really REALLY seem to have something here with their current campaign and want to get it out there as much as possible (which is awesome, because I find this new campaign to be really cool and good spirited).
Even a few of the new android commercials have shown off the Nexus 6 whether it be a glimpse or the subject manner. It seems this time around with 5.0 Lollipop Google is going FULL FORCE on getting positive android appeal in the open market. Unlike before we are approaching something new and potentially great here for the community.
