[Q] running 10.26.1.7 and getting update notification for 10.14.1.28 - Asus Transformer TF701

Today I got a system update notification so I installed it (I'm running stock Asus rom; I was hoping for android 4.4 :laugh without really giving it much attention.
After it installed the update, it kept showing the Asus boot screen 'ASUS Inspiring Innovation . Persistent Perfection' with the moving circles underneath the text.
After half an hour I decided it took too long so I pressed the power button but it again kept hanging at that same screen. :crying:
Finally I wiped the tablet and it came back to life. But there was something odd, at 'About' I saw I was running android 4.2.2 in stead of 4.3 I was running before the failed update. I tried checking for an update but there was none according to the tablet
After I downloaded WW_epaduser_10_26_1_7_UpdateLauncher.zip from the website and extracting it to the sd card root, it started updating :fingers-crossed:. This time it went well and I was running 4.3 again (too bad I have to restore everyting) but when I checked at the tablet if there was an update available, it said there was! Except the version number wasn't higher but lower! it wants to download 10.14.1.28 while I'm running 10.26.1.7.
Has anyone else got this false update notification? is there something wrong @ the Asus servers?

The same issue here.. I did an update today hoping that it will be a new version of android and I did not really look very well at what it is doing as last time it worked flawless!
After this update my tablet is dead! I tried hard reset and re-installing the firmware and nothing works!
I don't want to wipe and restore everything !

I just received the update as well. But I didn't go through the ordeal you all went through. It went quite smoothly actually!
I also received a firmware update that was very new. It's the 10.26.1.18 The kernel was also updated to December 18.
Had anyone noticed the brightness issue resolved? For that matter, has anyone noticed ANY changes? My hope is the issue where you had to click on the "smart saving" icon in the drop down menu isn't needed anymore (to fix the interment brightness issues.)
The only thing I saw was a pop-up when the update was completed. It said Asus has a new program built into the device that will send usage information and statistics to them to help find any issues and keep it up to date. Then it asked if I understood with an option to click a check mark. I didn't click it.. I don't want to share my information with them. Are they nuts?

I wiped my tablet an installed the latest WW 10.26.1.7 firmware that I found on their site, because it seems that it went back to android 4.2.2.
Now it is again proposing to install the 10.14.1.28 , I will not do it again!

Also not rooted ...

Same issue here bought in France and I had so many issues with keyboard = switching to QWERTY while should be AZERTY plus
also some letter keyboard shifts and sometimes I need to press 3 times before activating an item that I was happy to find an update today !!!
And no I am stuck on the spinning logo: (
Unfortunately I am quite new in the "wiping" procedure... Could someone point me in the correct direction how to correctly to wipe out,
for updating the firmware I have also a question... they mention something on SW version but I cannot find this information as cannot access the pad anymore
*How to check SW version of your Eee Pad Transformer Infinity TF700T?
Path: [Settings]-->[About tablet]-->Build number"
Would appreciate your kind assistance to try to get back on track...
Thank you
Kind regards
Stephxxx

Netherlands here (WW-version)
but did you get the older 10.14.1.28 as well? or did you get a newer version than you already had?

Support page missing for TF701
Is it me or is the entire download/support page for the TF701 missing from Asus's website? Everything seems to be present for the TF700 but all the downloads for the 701 are gone.

Yes this is correct! In order for flash to work "properly" we must wait. Now i am sure it will work as per others posts, but i just am not sure if it will be optimized for tegra....check the article:

I dont know ... But...
I got it on my Tablet ... runs the same or so as with the other flash we use
I would like to edit it to play hulu though...
done
Why in the world would you install something on your tablet that specifically says to not install it on a tegra 2 device. That is just asking for problems. I can hear it now..."HELP!!!, I installed flash from the market and every time I go to a flash site my browser crashes".
Wait
I believe I've already seen this stated several times in the last few days.

Because you can just uninstall it and install another version, correct? It takes so little time to try it out, then go back to applications, and uninstall. If it was a long drawn out process, maybe I could see not trying it.
Adobe says that (no tegra 2 Flash support) for ALL current Flash versions, including the one we are using. There is no such thing as an official Nvidia supported Flash. Just the tweaked version we have (question is who tweaked it- Nvidia beta?).
I hope soon the real tegra 2 Flash player will be unrolled .... and the rest of tegra 2 Games etc.

JRO03R new firmware release

The new firmware released http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...4g-xoom-galaxy-nexus-gms-and-lte-and-nexus-7/
According to JBQ, the most noteworthy change here is that the new binaries for the Nexus 7 "support GPS, and include a high-precision touchscreen firmware."
Question: If I'm using cyanogen nightlies, how should I update to this version?
P.S I hope this fixed deadspots and x/y axis problems

I just picked up a C90. My first tablet but not my first Nexus device. Funny enough I'm running JRO03S right out of the box...I would think this is newer yet then JRO03R.
So will this be in a future ota? These aren't for direct user consumption, rather components for ASOP.

JRO03R is available for AOSP. There is no OTA update for Nexus 7 yet, though many new ones ship with JRO03S and a dump is available here in the development section.
So i am getting this right as this is merely an update for the binaries and not a full update of the OS?
As i suffer from the usual Nexus 7 problems (Touchscreen Issue etc) i would like to install those binaries. Is this possible? I am on stock JRO03D 4.1.1 but rooted...
How could i manage (if it's possible) to install these binaries?

Bugs in 4.3

Hi there.
I update my N4 first day after release and i notice some bugs.
1.When i press power button to unlock, it unlocks and lock it again, like pressing twice.
2.When i make a call sometimes screen is black, like problem with sensor.
I make fresh update via fastboot, then wipe everything. Clean install.
This bugs i dont have on 4.2.2.
Can someone tell is there with this bugs or some other...?
Maybe we gonna need one more update from Google .
No similar bugs here.
No issues here. Try downloading the stock image and flash again on a clean wipe.

I already do that. Download from google site and clean install via fastboot.
This bugs are after that.
Well, I actually have some serious issues with 4.3 that I did not have in 4.2.2. Playing any game, even Candy Crush Saga, was impossible due to gpu throttle, getting low framerates even after leaving the phone sleep for 15min... But in 4.2.2 I had no frame drops whatsoever, no matter the time I had been playing/using the device before, so I'm definetly staying with 4.2.2 until they fix that.
And I flashed 4.3 3 times to make sure it was something "normal".
No problems here

Can you tell me, please, what do you mean by clean install ? I have already flashed with 4.3 stock image with adb/fastboot (flash-all.bat) and I am wondering if I did something wrong because now, my phone is starting acting like a samsung - it is slower, baterry is worse and, overall, it seems that it has a fewer frame rate.

In my case it means that after I received the OTA update, I rebooted, entered recovery, did reset factory defaults + wipe cache and configured everything from the beginning.
Can't get cleaner than that. upgrades might go wrong due to bad applications, old system configurations & stuff. It's better to do a fresh start once you get a newer version of the os.

New Android Version! 4.4.2 KitKat OTA update received.

Hello, fellow XDA users! I just got an update notification from ASUS on my TF701T OTA. Here are a couple of pics as proof and basic version.
They have remade the UI completely, using their new ZenUI on the newer Transformers. I'm going to see what they've changed in further detail, but some older apps, like MyLibrary, are no longer supported. Also, this update is not on ASUS' website as of this moment. I'm not sure if they will upload it even... just like the last one.
If anyone else has this update, please post here and share if there is anything radically changed/fixed!
Giod news! Let me guess, TowelRoot not working anymore?
I've received the update as well. Towelroot does not seem to work after a short try.
Gesendet von meinem K00C mit Tapatalk
Changing to ZenUI may be the reason this took so long to happen. I'm still waiting to receive the update but I'm looking forward to it. Good to see they haven't abandoned the TF701!
Bittersweet. There is an update but root through towelroot is gone. I'm on the fence on this one.
TF701 / TF700 / NEXUS 7 (2013)
I hope sbdags can update CROMI-X with this...
Can somebody please try the different towelroot versions on the latest OTA? Please? Please?

What's the best/worst about the Zen UI?
Unbelievable... I thought for sure ASUS had abandoned us! This is great, unexpected news!
Yes -- someone *needs* to upload that OTA file so our devs can take advantage of the new build. In fact, the file should be thrown up on a repository for anyone to try!
Good news - looks like CROMi-X lives!! Version 7 as soon as I an get my hands on it

I just tried it and it worked (I opened a video from a flash drive I have). But there is something peculiar now:
At first, I plugged the drive in the USB 3.0 port and I got a notification about inserted storage media. I opened it from there and it went into the stock ASUS File Manager. From there everything was a-OK. Then I tried opening it from ES File Explorer. The USBdisk1 was there and everything was as it should be but there was another "drive" below my flash drive. It was just a string of numbers. When I tried opening it, ES asked if I wanted it to be the default manager for this drive. I just said "yes" and then it blurted out an error that the drive couldn't be opened. From there on the USB flash drive just disappeared. A simple unplug and plug back in fixed that problem. Nothing was even damaged. The random-string-of numbers-drive was still there upon replug, though.
tl;dr: Everything works for me but there is SOMETHING ASUS might've changed around.
If your flash drives don't open, first try the tried method of plugging the docked tablet into power, turning it off, booting into recovery, unplugging for a short while so you can navigate the menu, going to the "cold-boot" option (middle button), pressing it and IMMEDIATELY plugging the power back in as it is cold booting. It usually fixes any dock ailments I might have (until I dock it in a few times ). If that doesn't help you, the most radical measure is to factory reset the tablet while it is docked and IN the power outlet. If all else fails, try your warranty...

Thank you @sbdags that is exactly what I experienced... Cromix soon?
Quick launch asus apps are gone
Looks like they removed this stuff.... Not sure how I feel about it, on one hand, I never really used that stuff... On the other, removing features is never a situation that I applaud. Anyone know if you can re-enable the quick launch?

As soon as Asus put the full firmware on their site
I can't get the kernel otherwise - and too difficult to work out their patched ota system

Hmm in a way I'm glad.
You won't get it back though as it was built into their framework - presumably not part of their zenui.
Yeah, I am glad in a way too, makes one less button that I accidently press because I picked up my wife's tf700 and think I am pressing "back". Just like Asus to remove a feature with an update... anyone remember when you could adjust your hdmi output on tf700 to scale or zoom? I do... still weeping for my lost feature.

Android P Beta available for Nokia 7 Plus

Hey guys!
It seems Android P beta is available for selective models of Nokia 7 Plus.
https://developer.android.com/preview/devices/
The eligible devices list contains this phone.
I have ordered mine and will be receiving it in 2 days. Meanwhile, if anybody wants to give a try, please let us know how it is.
Cheers!!
Edit: If you are planning to upgrade to this Developer Preview 2, better download both files including the DP2 Beta and the Rollback Zip in the 1st instance. Once you have both files, proceed to upgrade. Many people are facing issues to download the rollback zip.

I was actually amazed to see Nokia 7 plus in the eligible devices. This is happening for the first time.

It'll wipe your data, and it's installing for me right now. I'm thinking about uploading the update here but I'm unsure if it will work for others too. (as-in if it's signed for devices based on their IMEI's)

Same here.. I was amazed too.. I am just worried about the roll back procedure due to the locked bootloader

That's bad but nonetheless, a good news. Uploading the update here won't do anything as the device has to be enrolled into the beta programme and IMEI gets bound with the update. So, that Nokia knows which phones are on beta programme.
Do share your first Impressions after the update gets installed.

I guess the rollback will work just the way beta programme works. You will have to unregister your device and an OTA would be sent to your device to get you back to stable software.

Installed it, and it didn't wipe my data. There's some visual bugs sometimes, but it's probably fixed by clean installing the update. I don't have time to do so at the moment, so I'm unsure of it. Otherwise, it works pretty good! Here's some screenshots: https://photos.app.goo.gl/nj9Zaw1HQWQeOe4l1
Cool! I was not happy with the wiping stuff so I didn't end up flashing it but I'll wait until more people confirm it actually works without wiping.

Can you take a screenshot of the launcher it comes with, because I'm very interested about how different it is from the Pixel Launcher?

Nothing new, still looks the same (for me)
E: You can restore the normal navbar in the stock launcher settings (long press on empty space in home screen and press on home settings)
https://www.nokia.com/en_int/phones/developer does not let me enroll. N7 Plus TA-1046 T-Mobile Netherlands EU.
Just a warning to everyone else wanting to try this. In the Release Notes of the dev preview (https://developer.android.com/preview/release-notes) they say:
This release isn't Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) approved. Apps that depend on CTS-approved builds might not work normally on supported devices.

So there's a good chance that Snapchat, Netflix, Pokémon Go or several banking apps refuse to work. Also...
Devices cannot communicate with NFC readers.

Edit: according to the schedule on https://developer.android.com/preview/overview I'd wait for DP3 or DP4 both coming next month if you want something more like a daily driver.

Nokia mentions this on their website that this update can't be provided in some regions on some carriers.

Did anyone notice the roll back build update zip? It was v2.13b 8.1.
Switching language gave me a reboot (dutch to english). After that i automatically entered recovery mode. There the phone told me to factory reset because it could not boot or retry booting again.
Retry did the job. (Thankfully..)
